The Staff was very nice, we got the Hard sell impression, when we asked for a copy of one of the contracts Tracy acted like it was the first time she heard the question, then the nice lady at the front desk couldnt find one, $187.00 a month to rent these devices for four years is very expensive. We have decided to look for other alternatives for treatment.

How can I write a review in a few words, when I could write a book about how my life has changed since finding Dr. Darrow and his Hearing and Brain Center? His book “Living in Isolation” described my life perfectly. It is going on three years since my first appointment when I walked in feeling apprehensive, but hopeful, with my usual answers to questions, “excuse me?” “I’m sorry?” Could you speak up?” and walked out an hour later hearing sounds I had not heard in years. The computer key board makes noise? The newspaper crinkles? Rain! I love the sound of soft summer rain. And wind! Chirping birds, rustling leaves, clocks ticking – even creaking floor boards and squeaky doors are a heavenly sound. The best thing is that now I can understand the person who I always thought was mumbling, and the other one who always spoke in whispers, or too fast. Our big family gatherings are once again joyful now that I can follow and join in several conversations going on at once. I could go on and on.Every person you will meet at the Center is pleasant, professional, and most importantly kind. I am eternally grateful to Dr. Darrow and his wonderful staff for giving me my life back. You just can’t put a price on that.

I had my first hearing assessment and cognitive work up this week at Hearing and Brain Center in Worcester. I learned so much from Tracy the audiologist and was so impressed by their extensive testing and research. A month after my hearing analysis and obtaining neurology devices, life has gotten a little easier. No more straining to hear in a conference room, graduation ceremony, or conversation in a car. My boy friend has had tinnitus for over 40 years and it was very enlightening to hear Dr. Darrow and understand that damage is done but perhaps he can start getting some relief and preserve the deterioration of brain health. I highly recommend hearing his lecture. He gave the audience members such good insight as to how the brain and hearing work together and what happens when they stop working together. If he comes to your area, please sign up to hear his lecture (no cost).If you wear glasses because you need them; well, you need hearing aids because you cant hear (yes, I realize the cost) but the cost of NOT having them is detrimental to your health.

Buyer beware. Dr. Darrow and the crew are using fear tactics to over-sell hearing aids. And they even have easy payment plans. Just like used car salesmen. Get a second opinion! Dont get spooked by their message. This crew knows how to sell very well and they charge a lot. The website is over-the-top hard sell. I recommend other audiologists.

I finally came to terms with my hearing loss after visiting a number of hearing centers. I was very impressed with the service I received at the the Hearing Balance Center compared to other offices that I visited. My initial visit went very well, they completed a comprehensive hearing test and then let me try on some of the hearing aids. As soon as I put them on, I started to cry as I realized how much I WAS NOT HEARING.... I would highly recommend this office for all of your hearing needs - Great Staff and Excellent service.

This symposium was very informative. As an individual with hearing loss, it was important to understand why it’s progressive (ie the nerves die due to no stimulation), I do my best to stimulate my brain to ensure cognition, but do so via reading. Clearly, there are some nerves not stimulated in this modality. I will find ways to stimulate nerves via hearing, perhaps through music, I do currently wear the Oticon aids. I had been to see Dr Darrow 2 1/2 years ago and was very impressed with the testing and knowledge provided. However, the cost was more than I could afford. I have noticed since then that I was having a real problem hearing conversations when background noise was involved. I work in a busy, often loud office and realized how many times a day I was sayingIm sorry, I cant hear you.So, I went to Hearing & Balance Centers beautiful new office. Every detail of testing, treatment options, and financial options were thoroughly explained to me. I am so happy that there is now a much more affordable monthly payment option available. My appointment was yesterday, today I am at work with my awesome new hearing aids! They make all the difference - Hearing & Balance Center rocks!

I can hear! That being said, Hearing and Balance Centers have helped me to recapture my confidence when Im in a crowded area. The staff were all welcoming and friendly. The testing was as stress-free as possible. There was no hard sell or any pushiness and nothing was rushed. I would recommend, as is always a good idea, to get a printed copy of documents related to warranties and financing options and read them before signing to make sure you understand everything. We love hearing each other without yelling; what a relief!! We have become addicted to hearing, so no problems with not using the devices. AND even with my bald husband, you really can’t see them.

My husband and I thought our first visit was excellent and very thorough. The time spent with us was impressive. I am writing this review due to the fact my husband has no email account and would never do this. Trying to get him to get help us very difficult. He will not be an easy patient. However, that being said he was impressed. He told me he has given up. The ringing in his right ear is bothering him so much. So far he is not giving the hearing aids a chance. I will try very carefully to get him to wear them. I certainly dont want to push him to much. I am hoping hell try!!!!!

My 17 year old son was diagnosed with hearing loss about a year ago. We did not receive clear answers from a different doctor so I contacted Hearing and Brain Centers of New England. We met with the professionals and they recommend to see and Ear Nose and Throat Doctor just to verify the structure of the ear was intact. Now that the scans are back we now know that the best way to help his hearing and prevent Dementia is a hearing aid. I am impressed with the complete testing and referral that was provided to my son! Someone told me I should check out the Hearing and Balance clinic when I mentioned having difficulty hearing. I went to the first appointment and there was no pressure just helpful information and lots of testing to gain a full understanding of ME. Come to find out I had significant hearing loss and was provided 2 hearing aids THAT DAY. They titrated the volume so it wouldn’t be so overwhelming like I’ve heard other people complain about getting hearing aids. I never knew how much I avoided things and people because I had so much trouble hearing. I’m so grateful I get to participate in my life now!!

Very complete service and attention to detail. My wife has earl stage dementia and now sufferers with tinnitus. The audiologist was well trained and very sensitive in dealing with her weakness. The rest of the staff was extremely courteous. So far so good in treating the tinnitus.

I had a wonderful experience with Kim, she explained everything fully. It has only been a day but I am loving my new aides. Never noticed alot of sounds took me by surprise this morning while walking my dog and later at work.

I have been going here for nearly three years. I will admit in the beginning things were a bit rough. My hearing aids just werent fitting right. Let me say, my ears are no way the same either, one has been reconstructed. I may also add that I am blind as well. So making sure my hearing aids worked appropriately was essential for me to navigate. So it wasnt easy. But in the end, after a few trips, they got it right. I will say Dr. Daro, and the entire staff is so incredibly warm, helpful, and considerate. (even when I may be in a bad mood).My daughter now also has hearing aids, and she just cant say enough good words about Dr. Daro. I will never forget her words when she first tried on a pair of hearing aid in the office. Oh my, (eyes wide opened) wow, I can hear, and hear things I didnt know were around! And that continued all the way home.

Over the last few years, I had been having some issues with my hearing. My wife also had been having similar issues with her hearing.Very often our hearing was challenged in restaurants that were noisy or even in church trying to hear and understand just what the priest was saying in his homily. We got most of it but then a phrase or a word left us confused.A couple of friends had made some suggestions as to where we might go for help. Initially, we went to a hearing loss clinic in Shrewsbury, Ma. We were both tested and the tests revealed that we both were experiencing a goodly amount of hearing loss. My wife went ahead with here treatment, but I waited.A few weeks later, another friend suggested I go to the Hearing and Balance center located right here in Worcester based on her experience there. Well, long story short, I went and was very impressed with their evaluation and solutions to my hearing loss problem.I have had my hearing aids for quite a while now and I am very pleased with them and my decision to go with Dr. Darrow and the Hearing Balance Center. Whenever I need an adjustment or a check-up, they are there for me! If I need batteries or other part replacement items, they are ready, willing and able to satisfy my hearing needs and usually at no additional cost so far. Whenever I enter the center, Monique is right there to welcome me and direct me to a staff member that might be able to address any question or problem I might be experiencing. In almost no time at all I and ready to be on my way.The waiting area is vary comfortable as well. My father went to get his hearing checked at the Hearing and Balance Centers of New England. We knew he needed hearing aids, but he resisted for years. I only wish I had visited Hearing and Balance and Dr. Darrow years ago. My first visit yesterday was unlike visiting audiologists in the old days. New tests, visual real time displays of ear performance, explanations of the interdependence of hearing and brain function. Kim, the audiology fellow, was extremely pleasant and patient, as well as informative. Finally, I got the newest iteration of miniaturized, noise-cancelling Oticon hearing aids (my first ever), and they are an easy fit and unobtrusive. I hardly know I have them on. Bonus: theyre iPhone enabled and they stream bluetooth (if you fellow geezers like) right through your hearing aids, which is very cool. Most of all, they are natural sounding, not like your parents clunky hearing aids. For me, they dont make everything louder; they just make sounds clearer and more understandable. I am already comfortable with them, and in subsequent visits Dr. Darrow will tweak them to be even more attuned to my requirements. Baby steps, I understand, but they already are a huge improvement.

Fabulous staff from top to bottom. They were so patient with me, because I had a hard time adjusting to a hearing device. They were always so accommodating to ensure I felt everything was 100%. I travel 30 mins to go here even though there are places closer to home. I seen the ad on Facebook & thought it was click and bate and I was so wrong. This is a joke, right. I posted 3 + years ago and then a response posted 2 hours ago. My stars changed, as this office only wants to sell you new hearing aides for $175.00 per month for you life. No thanks. I would still stand by Doctor Burns but she hit the road 3 years ago. Go slow my friends.

I have been increasingly disappointed in this audiological service. The attention used to be friendly and personal; now it is awkward, abrupt, and even dismissive. The purpose of the service appears to be to promote Dr. Darrow, his book, and his research rather than to improve the hearing and the quality of life of the people served here. In my opinion, there is greater emphasis on referring new customers in order to drum up business than there is on helping hearing-impaired people to enjoy communication and relationship. The administrative effort of keeping records seems slack; it took the employee an extra effort to research that I had recently been into the office at least twice in recent months for problems with my aids. The change of name from Hearing and Balance Centers of New England to Hearing and Brain... is also being managed poorly, with some documentation with the original name and other documentation with the new name. I was not sure that I was calling the correct place due to this inconsistency.
