This little shop is so cute! My husband and I came here today to try it for the first time and we were impressed! We both loved the coffee and also liked that it wasnt too hot to drink from the start.

Ordered 8 truffles, i chose which 8 i wanted. My order can and it is half wrong. I have called the phone for cafe and chocolate orders. No answer.i emailed - no response. This box of chocolate was a gift for my daughter. I paid $35 for a box of 8 truffles and she does not like half the box. They offer the ability to choose your chocolates. That had my contact info if they did not have the truffles i chose. I ordered 2 of each of 2 flavors and they only gave me 1 of each- Which lead me to believe they had the flavor.

Love the charcuterie boards and the iced tea selection!! A Woodstock must. A dark chocolate lovers paradise. Great place for small groups.

Great place for anything from a quick cup of almost anything you can imagine to snacks and lunch. Saturdays and Sundays have their own eating menu. Will definitely be back!!

Amazing atmosphere, excellent customer service, and tasty drinks. You can tell they only use the freshest ingredients in everything they make. This place can be slightly pricey but it is worth every penny. Cant wait to come back.

In theory this place is great, our experience was so so. It seemed like the employees were all new. Went on a Friday night, their Friday menu was not in use. Ordered the Cha Cha Chicken, it was very good, we were only given plasticware, had to ask for silverware as the plastic didnt cut it. No chips were given but the employee who rang us up didnt tell us to grab a bag either.We attempted to order a cocktail, the bartender literally said she was new and didnt know how to make anything. There was supposed to be jazz, but there was none. There was a super loud wedding upstairs though...

Officiated my younger sisters wedding here. Great romantic space upstairs for ceremonies and receptions, wonderful break noshes and confections.

We went there as an end to a lovely evening in Woodstock for my birthday. This was the perfect way to close out my day. The pour over coffee was spot on and perfect. The blueberry, lavender, lemon truffle was so good. Thank you for a lovely end to a lovely birthday.

Great chocolate, coffee and tea, treats, and friendly staff. Unfortunately, what used to be a favorite spot for a tasty lunch is a thing of the past. Ethereal used to have a small yet robust menu which managed to cater to a range of dietary needs while still being tasty and high quality.The online menu is completely obsolete. The current menu features about 7 items that are all pre-made and cannot be altered (not even something as basic as a grilled cheese can be accommodated). My husband and I visited three times in the past two weeks, hoping something might change.Today, our third try, will sadly be our last. The only two items we were interested in were not available, and other menu items, since they are pre-made, can not be altered. We ended up settling on a vegan tuna sandwich of some sort. The quality was non-existent, almost insulting for the price.Im really saddened, as Ethereal has always been a place I recommended for great coffee and vegetarian food options. We hope one day they return to their previous great, fresh quality and selection. 🙁

Just walking by and smelling the daily wares is enough for a 5 star. This place is phenomenal. Great coffee, great food. Always friendly and patient as you pore over the extensive choices. This could actually be defined as a destination spot, its that great. The area is a really nice park and walk, so make this the stop, and then enjoy yourself with a trot around the square.

Ethereal, get with the program or you’ll destroy your business.Since this business has moved the service has gone down the toilet, as well as product quality and consistency.I have spent $1,000’s at Ethereal and I will no longer be a customer.Three strikes and you’re out.The first strike was a horrible set of golden milks. Weak, not even “golden” and of course expensive.The second strike was the quality of baked goods on the next visit. I understand you sadly lost your bakery, but the replacement products chosen are very dry, stale and overpriced. Yuck. Also I had paid for goods that were forgotten in my bag and I had to go back and retrieve them.The third strike during the last visit was a very rude employee who wouldn’t answer our questions and then turned away muddling something under her breath about us. I guess answering questions isn’t part of their job, neither is serving the customer.Also, the new truffle and baked goods case is so high the customers cannot be seen waiting to be served.Better figure these things out or the longevity of this business will cease. Overall the employees have lost their warmth and willingness to serve. This may be news to Ethereal but customers keep the lights on.Three separate visits and issues at all three.You’ve lost me and my family.

We popped in for hot cocoa, 1/2&1/2 2 extra pumps chocolate is the best! Later we returned for the Speakeasy in the basement. We ordered a ton of munchies. Food & drinks were Excellent!!! Staff was a treat too.

Friendly baristas, warm atmosphere, cozy, and professional-grade equipment. Exactly the kind of thing one needs. Best coffee/chocolate shop around Woodstock, if not the whole of McHenry County. Glad they found a new space that looks and feels like the older, intimate one that people found cozy and intimate.

Cozy and quiet little spot on the famous Woodstock Square. Cute lounge in between the cafe and the chocolate kitchen. Small simple breakfast options (when we visited) such as quiche, pastries and oatmeal to complement the coffee drinks or stouts on tap. Not a lot of power outlets for those planning to work there, but this isnt that type of place. Can accommodate medium size groups, but mostly has seating for two to four people.

They have really good chocolate, good coffee, and great food. Its a nice place to go for coffee and has a good atmosphere. The chocolate is so good! Normally I get extra chocolate so I can bring some home, but most of the time I eat it before it makes it there.

Updated review: as of a few months back I gave a great review based on what was the standard of ethereal confections. I am disappointed to say that has obviously changed with the new location and staff. Visited last week and the quality of everything was much lower than what the standard used to be.-The girl who was would the cash register was on her phone more then anything else and very short with an obvious disinterest to communicate with customers. The old staff was very personable.-The chocolate peanut butter cups we got had a gross liquid layer on them so we didnt even eat them. When I tried to call to ask about a return being that they are expensive, no one answered no matter what extension I chose off the main menu.-The no loner have their old pastries and seems to outsource from another company for bakery items that are of less quality and more expensive. Its disappointing that they are no longer making the cinnamon rolls but more disappointing to see the replacements.-My friends mocha was disgusting and tasted like liquid corn. Not joking. They couldnt even get a mocha with oat milk correct this time. I had been excited to bring my friend for awhile since she is allergic to milk as well. Unfortunately she will be sticking with Starbucks and although I have been anti Starbucks for years, I have switched as well. Same price and consistent quality is the safer way to go. This review is painful to write because this used to be one of my favorite locations for at least 6 years but based on my last couple experiences I would say dont waste your money :/Previous review: This is by far the best coffee location in mchenry County. I have been going there for 6 years and honestly have not touched a Starbucks coffee since. Same price and way higher quality here! A quick stop for a post-dinner treat, just as they were closing. Very strong and effective COVID protection, but we could smell the amazing chocolates the second we were in the door. Three truffles in hand, we enjoyed them on Woodstock Square with the Christmas Lights. Magical!

Lost flavor. No personality or friendliness from staff. Starbucks already tops these guys. Original location was wonderful, but lost everything that made it good, except for the interior decor. Too wrapped up in making the food fancy and not enough flavor to actually enjoy.

I have been here twice, both times were bad experiences. The first time, I ordered online for pickup. When I arrived I was told my order had been mixed up with another. The woman whose order was also messed up was offered a complimentary cookie, I was not. She got her food first. The staff did apologize for the wait. My second experience was also disappointing. They changed the avocado toast recipe, its no longer worth the price. Also the staff served two other customers drinks before me, even though I placed my order first. The other patrons ordered at the register, just like me. Poor customer service.

The coffee artists make the most wonderful concoctions, while the chocolatiers are busy creating mind blowing truffles filled with fascinating flavors. Relax...grab a drink.. and chat with friends at the bar or a comfy chair. I’m eternally grateful to my daughter for telling me about this place.

I ordered a variety of truffles delivered out of state planning to have them as Christmas gifts. Upon tasting a few, they were absolutely disgusting and tasted rancid. I contacted them to report it, and was told the problem could not be the chocolate but rather that perhaps its just not to my taste.So the takeaway for you should be that either A, their chocolates are actually disgusting (Ive literally never eaten a chocolate I did not enjoy before this in my life but I had to spit these out)Or B, best case scenario, my chocolates spoiled during shipping and they just have terrible customer service.Either way I recommend shopping elsewhere.

I had heard about this place from friends and had it on my list with a couple of other friends to check out.We finally made it and it doesnt disappoint. Super comfortable and I love the hybrid of coffee and liquor drinks. Was even surprised to see they had a food menu so I got a panini which was excellent. Absolutely worth the trip to Woodstock and would do it again.

Interesting place. Lots of dark chocolates with spirit pairings. This is the place to go to try something different, including a full craft bar.

Truffles are great. The coffee bar in the back is the best kept secret in McHenry county.

Fantastic high-quality food and drinks here. This is real chocolate, folks. Not $1 chocolate filled with junk. Baked goods that are gluten free and loads of plant based options. Beautiful location just off the square, you can easily order and then walk around the square or sit outside and soak up the sunshine. Locally sourced coffee, and other goodies in addition to chocolate. I dont get why people complain about prices, you get what you pay for!

Looking for vegan gourmet Valentines chocolate was a great challenge. More so when I needed to ship tp Canada.Ethereal Connections offers a unique and delicious selection of vegan truffles. The packaging was secure, safe and attentive. I really appreciate the attention to detail and delectable selection. The shipping rate was also reasonable and arrived in a timely fashion. I will absolutely purchase again during another holiday season.

A very unique assortment of beverages. I usually go for a lavender flavor, but there are other unique flavorings, like cayenne or raspberry. The atmosphere here is peaceful. There are multiple seating options and many of them lend to having a private and deep conversation with your friends.

When entering Ethereal the atmosphere seemed to be very appealing. There was 3 people in are group, none of us had never been there before. We just went in and sat down at a table, thinking that we would be waited on, that was not the case. You have to get menus by their register, no signs were posted, we had to ask. You have to place your order up at the register and pay at the same time. The person at the register was very pleasant and helpful. Not much on the menu to order from. We did have an egg,bacon and cheese on a bagel which came with potatoes. We did not have to wait long for our food, which they did bring out to the table for us. The food was good, but was nothing like we were expecting.My advice to Ethereal is to make sure you greet your customers when they come in and ask them if they have ever been there before so you can explain how things work there.

I always enjoyed this place in the past. Ive come with friends every week after a Tuesday night gathering to enjoy a late, light dinner and drinks.Since theyve opened the new location, weve been waiting for them have food again. It took several months, but finally the kitchen opened earlier this month.Tonight we were very disappointed to find that theyve scrapped their evening menu after only a couple of weeks. They no longer serve food after eight pm.Sadly, were going to find somewhere else to go for our Tuesday night get together. If they ever get their act together and start serving food again, I will be very glad to enjoy the gluten free and vegan menus...One of my group commented tonight, it feels like a relationship ending.He was right.

For studying or conversations I have never found fault with this location aside from it being not big enough for the amount of people who visit! I moved and since then I have never found a location quite like Ethereal Confections and I miss it wholeheartedly. Someday Ill be back, as for now I hope the business succeeds and continues to be visited by the masses!

12 GF bagels and a chocolate bar for 36 bucks! Is the chocolate bar from a dispensary because 12 bagels at 30 bucks is the wildest thing Ive ever heard.I didnt purchase from you. I laughed. First things first, the vibes were amazing. They were felt immediately, from wall to wall, from floor to ceiling. The art was beautiful, and the furniture/theme was very fo-modern. Like modern but at the same time rustic as well as keeping a home-like feel that makes you never want to leave. The best part about the establishment is for sure the other patrons. Ethereal is like a magnet for fellow woke intellectuals so while I enjoy coffee, I can have an open minded conversation with a person who also has their third eye wide open. I had a super conversation with some rad chick about Trumps terrible policies and about how Bernie is going to save this country. The coffee was scrumptious and I will definitely be back again. Ill be a regular from now on.

The oatmeal is very good. One of the best instants Ive ever had. Coffee is very good too. Used there internet with my phone. My home router is geeyg replaced to double its speed back to my original 12. They have 17 upload.

Haven’t had any food in the new space, but my best friend got married here a few weeks ago and it was a dream. We all got ready beforehand in the speakeasy, and they had an amazing bar tender down there for any drinks we wanted, and she was so sweet with the little kids that were around, too. The space was beautiful, and the staff was really helpful. Only thing to note is that we ran up and down the stairs quite a bit!! I do believe there’s an elevator, but I didn’t get the impression it was for everyone’s use (I could be wrong). It was a great space for a small and intimate event!

I be been here multiple times to eat, get a matcha green tea latte, and to see friends and hangout. This is probably the highest quality of food in all of Woodstock. Pricey, but worth every penny youre willing to spend on high quality products.

This place has gotten way overpriced, also really miss the old location and feel. Better to find a place that offers both quality and affordability.

I tried these chocolate bars after visiting a farm in Dundee that had them and these r literally the best chocolate bars I have ever had and I had many! Can’t wait to visit the cafe!!!

You can smell the chocolate from outside... Omg yum! The chocolates were phenomenal and they had a lot of unique flavors, we also got some tea and coffee from the cafe in the back and everything was delicious! Nice place to sit and relax or grab some chocolate and coffee and walk around the square. Dont pass this one up! I love they dont close super early too!

I love all of the options there is for seating. Its the coffee place every town needs. It is a great place for sitting and drinking your coffee. They are slightly more expensive than Starbucks, but Ethereal is totally worth it. Ethereals drinks taste more high quality, better food/desserts, nicer seating, and a way better atmosphere. It is always clean. The staff is very nice and bubbly. I also see that all of their chocolate is vegan as well as some of their other desserts, I bought some truffles for my niece and she thinks they are amazing. I have been to this place many times and have never had an unpleasant experience. I will continue to come here, as it is my favorite coffee shop.

All their stuff is gluten free and most of it is dairy free or can be made dairy free. Its amazing for people like me who cant have gluten OR dairy. The staff is super knowledgable and always friendly! And the chocolate? Dont even get me started. One word: Amazing.

Their entirely gluten free small plate menu, an assortment of house made chocolate truffles and bars, signature cocktails, coffee, and tea drinks make this a great place to bring dates.

A wonderful place in all shapes and forms! The food is good, the drinks are excellent, and the staff is even better! I highly recommend this cute quaint establishment. Hand crafted chocolate shop with cafe. Has a nice warm atmosphere that is welcoming on a cold day. The chocolate store sells artisanal chocolates that are made in store and the cafe serves all sorts of goodies. The chocolate can often seem pricey, but believe me, its worth it!

Great attitudes and fast service

So, I dont like coffee...or chocolate...but I still love this place! They have teas and pastries wonderful enough to satisfy a weirdo such as myself. What I love most is the atmosphere. Its cozy and relaxing, and the servers are always really great as well.

The service is mediocre, the prices are outrageous, but the atmosphere is nice if you are part of the Starbucks crowd. Really, this place tries to be a bar, a sweet shop and a coffee bar all rolled into one. Its not good at any of it. I gave it three stars because the pumpkin muffin I had was pretty good. Dont waste your money (unless you want to be a trendy 20 something); there are far better choices in Woodstock.
