Alright place. Would be 5 stars had they taught me head to toe about the boat I purchased. Just realized I double paid for my inspection though... and im pretty sure the fresh water pump doesnt work like it should.Also didnt give me the plug to be able to use the boat at a dock, so it has been hell trying to find a l5-30 extension cord for a week this was a consignment sale but still...

I am looking at the reviews on this site as I am considering bringing my boat in for some significant repairs. My conversations with Dave were very pleasant and quite informative even while he was very busy handling multiple tasks around him.When I discovered the series of negative reviews, I was concerned until I saw his response. It appears they did some in-water repairs just to provide an extra level of service for an unhappy customer. I am impressed.

I dont write reviews... I am one of those people that read them all the time but never actually write them because its a waste of time but in this case I had to. The team over at Lake Marine and RV crushed it. They helped me redesign my boat by repainting and resurfacing the boat and applied the decals. The boat looks brand new (see pics). I would suggest bringing the boat to the shop and having them give you a quote and work on a time to bring it in. They do good work which means they get busy. They do a lot of work over the winter for boats that people drop off which makes a ton of sense. Before I was allowed to pick up the boat, Dave the owner had to inspect it. I didnt mind. Really shows that they take pride in their work and ownership takes responsibility for the quality of the work. Those are people I like doing business with. Great Job Guys!

Ive delt with 6 or 7 different boat/rv businesss, by far this one blows everyone out of the water.. Dave and Cenna are wonderful and so helpful! My Bring on another thousand will go to them.

I am thrilled with this entire operation. I have purchased many boats in my time but this was the easiest purchase by far. Dave, the owner, walked me through all the boats that met my criteria and took his time helping me decide. The boat is wonderful! Paperwork with Jackie was a breeze. Mark met me at the local launch with the boat and took his time reviewing everything from instruments, to gas additives, to what to do when it was time to winterize. They could not have been better! Best place around to bring your boat, RV, etc. Dave and his team really know what theyre doing and will go above and beyond for your needs. Ive been going to him for years and hes a tell it like it is kinda man and will do what fits best for you/your family and not just what makes him the most money. Its not so stressful having boat issues when you know youre in good hands!

All I know is don’t bring your boat to this guy. A wood chipper will take better care of your boat.

Their customer service is amazing! Had a problem with my 115 Mercury, called and the lead time was quite a long time. Mark in service told me what to do. I tried it, it worked. The next day he called to ask how it turned out. Who does that anymore? Cant say enough about how great each employee Ive encountered is! Telling all my friends to check this group out.

This is by far the best marina I have ever done business with. From buying parts to buying new boats I’ve always walked out of the building happy. For several years I’ve bought my parts for my old boats from them, this spring I decided to buy a brand new boat. My experience was outstanding. Even with all the uncertainty going on with covid-19 Dave and his crew still knocked it out of the park. I highly recommend Lake Marine and RV.

We purchased a used boat from him and are just awaiting the service work and little extras he promised to throw in the purchase price.While its taking a bit more than the estimated 2 weeks for it to be ready to pick it up, he wants to make sure all is done meticulously! I really dont like to leave reveiw especially a negative reveiw. But Dave the owner has not been a man of his word, I had quite a bit of machanical work done in his shop. Hes was quick to instist on payments up front prior to work being performed. During the whole process a few parts where missed placed or broken by LAKE MARINE. I was told once the small balance was paid he would make sure the missing and damaged parts would be replaced I even have a written receipt of the parts he promised to replace that his shop either lost of broke. Once he was paid in full over almost a month ago. Now he wont return call or supply me with the parts. So if it was to be asked I would say take your business elseware, and totally avoid a protencial probelm. and possibly being taken advange of as I feel I have been Just my option do as you wish. the only reaso n the USES PART is in is because i left a naegative reveiw after waiting 30 days for it with NO1 RESPONCE FOR DAVE now hes trying to push it off like hes a good guy. Once again and for the last time I WOULD NOT DEAL WITH THE GUY EVER AGAIN. He can spin it anyway he wants say all he wants. He lied to my face I dont trust him at all !!

CAUTION - If you plan on taking your Boat to Lake Marina Do Not Regardless of the situation BEWARE - Dave is a very dishonest person. He doesn’t stand by his work and is all about taking your money. Just got a 2020 Lowe fishing pro 1800, LOVE it very much, Dave had it ready by the 4th and we love it!! Been out in it every chance we get! I went in to look around for a pontoon boat. Do not have much knowledge and the whole staff took their time to explain all options and what would be best for me. Even if it was a less expensive one. They really care about their customers happiness and not just their bottom dollar!

Busy, people buying boats as fast as we get them in. Everyone wants to social distance on there own boat, instead of flying or cruising some where.

I went in to look at a few different boats and was thinking about buying g my first boat in the spring. I talked to Steve when I was there. He showed me every one that I wanted to see and he was so enthusiac about showing me everything on every boat, and the greatest part about Steve was that he was not pushy at all. He even showed me how awesome and friendly their service area is. I had such a wonderful experience with Steve that I honestly feel bad that I could not buy one right then and there. I was blown away by the experience and services they provide, even their winter storage was nothing short of incredible. Come spring time I am walking right back in and asking for Steve. He has earned my business already.

I came in a few weeks back after seeing a video a friend posted on FB. I’ve gotta say while new to the boat world they treated me with respect and answered questions I didn’t even know I had. Even though I told them I was just looking and was hoping to buy late winter or spring they still took the time to go over options answer my questions and give recommendations based off my needs. My family and I were going to purchase a boat and ended up looking at the responses on the review page. Unfortunately after reading some of the responses we feel uncomfortable purchasing a boat from this business.

Took my vintage airstream for help. When I dropped it off I was very clear that silicone could not be used, Mentioning it several times. (Silicone destroys aluminum) Of course they went ahead and used it, now I will spend the next few weeks removing the silicone, undoing and redoing what I paid them to do. In the weeks in the shop, I was lied to several times about what was done and feel more ripped off than I can ever remember feeling. And In this time of covid, despite my age, and the fact that I was wearing a mask, they would not wear masks at all. I paid less than quoted because I was angry when I left, but still paid 300 dollars to get NOTHING fixed but be handed more work. (And more expense as the trim pieces that I bought will have to be bought again).

Recently requested some info on a motor home for sale. Steve did a super job of returning all the info I needed and more He made it easy for me to make a decision although before I could come up to look at it, we had further medical issues that put our phones purchase on hold. I will positively consider a purchase here. When things change due to Steves assistance.

If I could give a negative star I would. Dave is one of the most dishonest business man I have ever dealt with.Not only did he not fix my boat after 7 months, but he also syphoned 40 gallons of gas out of my tank.Be cautious he’s a great talker and makes you feel like he’s an expert and actually knows what he is talking about!! Absolutely look elsewhere. I would never recommend his company to anyone. Very high turnover in staff (red flag) does not return phone calls, ZERO accountability, can’t be trusted, he will lie to your face.He put the wrong lower unit on my boat and said I was the one who ordered it. I had twin stainless-steel props and he put a signal cast aluminum prop and then tried to keep my $500.00 stainless steel props. After a very heated exchange, I was refunded and made him remove the lower unit he added…. He actually expected me to settle with the single prop telling me it will perform the same as the dual props and that he will reduce the invoice; Daves delusional sense of fairness! after I refused his paltry counter offers, I decided Id be better off not accepting anything from him and warning others of the inadequacies and failures of his business.I stand nothing to gain from this post. Please do your homework before letting these guys work on your boat. Seek a second opinion. Trust this post, If I can help one person from this monster i would be happy.

Chris and his staff in the upholstery department did an outstanding job creating new life in our motorhome furniture. The workmanship and quality of the material is far superior compared to the original manufacturer. Their effort will make our vacation home enjoyable for many years to come.

Dave and his team at Crystal Lake Marine know how to take care of their customers. They genuinely value your business and reflect it in they way they deal with you and the work they do for you. I had my Cobalt bow rider winterized, stored and serviced in the spring with them this year. I had some minor engine issues after putting my boat in the water, they sent a mechanic down to Chicago (Free of Charge) to diagnose the problem and quickly fix it. It was just some air in my hose lines from the impeller that needed to be purged after sitting all winter. They were on top of it quickly and stood behind the work they had performed on it. I recommend them for any repairs/service/storage you may need. They also just moved into a huge new space at the old Woodstock Harley Davidson. Try them for yourself

The entire staff has been great to deal with and the price I have paid for indoor heated storage is more than fair in my opinion. They have always been open and honest with me about things to do with my boat and/or repairs and given me great guidance. There has never been any issues or any disputes on anything they have done for me. I would highly recommend them and an happy I have found them and been able to store and service my boat with them.

I came in to the store and everyone looked at me like I had no right to be there. No one approached me for about 25 minutes and finally when someone did they were super rude. I will not be going back or referring any friends.

Lake Marine & RV has dented my family’s boat and made up an entire story to cover themselves for their mistake. Sad to see a business be operated like this and I would never recommend them.

We had a tree limb fall on the roof of our RV while in storage. We could see there was damage to the ac unit and who knows what damage to the roof. We had work done here before and were pleased with the work. Now, with barely any notice we needed someone to get up there assess the damage. From the ladies at the desk, to the service manager getting us in, and the necessary work being completed in a timely manner, we have all good things to say and recommend their services. Took my pontoon boat for a tune up before fishing trip in Northern Wisconsin.. It had a rough idle. They charge $ 600.00 for diagnostics and work and now it runs worse than it did before. Before the motor ran good enough to use the boat but now I cant even get the motor into gear because it dies every time so now the boat is unusable. I am very disappointed, thanks for wrecking my fishing trip. I guess I shouldnt have counted on you for getting the motor tuned up and running better.I have called twice now and left a message for Dave to call me and try to resolve this issue but I have not received a return phone call.Dave eventually returned my phone call and he installed a different use motor for a reasonable price which had been working well now. My only complaint is the long time I had to wait for repairs, diagnostics and installation of new used motor.

CLM did major work to my boat this summer, unfortunately I had one other problem when it was time to put the boat in the water.My fuel pump went out and Dave sent his best mechanic bill out to my marina 20 miles away to make the repair.Thanks to everyone who recently (8/17) worked on getting me back in the water and for detailing the boat prior to delivering it - looks good !

Dave and Chris are the real deal! I dont often write reviews but Lake Marine & RV deserve it. Our beloved pontoon needed some serious TLC (mold alllllll over, carpet needed replacing, cover leaked) we brought her in & spoke with Chris. He helped us with flooring options that would work for our particular needs (rinseable, wont hold water, durable, mold resistant, kid friendly) & gave us a fair price. Dave gave us the news that the cover wasnt going to make it (we knew but had hoped we could hold off) & Chris made us a brand new, really durable, cover that will last, likely, longer than the pontoon. They cleaned the seats and they look brand new. No more mold issues next summer!! My husband even trusted them to winterize his beloved Bentley. To find a business that really does it the old fashioned way with honesty, hard work, dedication to customer service & fair prices is rare to find in todays market, but in the world of boating it is even more remarkable. After next season we will be bringing in our speed boat for its own facelift.

I store my boat there, pick up parts here and there, and everyone has always been super friendly and attentive. I appreciated the fact that the owner gave me advise on props one day based on my intended use, and steered me away from a more expensive one which was unnecessary for my needs. My experience with Lake Marine has been nothing but good.

Dave was excellent, I called near the end of his business hours regarding a prop. Im new to boating and wanted to learn how to change the prop by myself. Not only did Dave stay open late for me but he took the time to do a step by step tutorial for me and my wife on how to change the prop.

Went there to get mooring ropes on Saturday, none in stock. I was told they would have them in 4 to 6 weeks. Their selection of boating supplies were minimal. Look forward to them growing.I ordered them on Amazon Sunday and received them Monday.

I contacted Dave from a Craigslist ad about a vintage boat. We had a couple of discussions and Dave was very helpful and honest in disclosing all the relevant information . I drove 400 miles to inspect the boat based upon his detailed description. I was very impressed with the boat. It was almost exactly as described. Dave and I did a complete inspection of the boat . He was sincere and honest with everything. We struck a deal that night. Dave is in the process of completing some finishing work and i will take delivery on or before May 1. It is refreshing to conduct business on a basis of integrity and fair dealing...Crystal Lake Marine is that type of business.

I went to lake marina and rv looking for a smoker fishing boat, i didnt really wanna but brand new so the owner dave pointed me in the direction of a gentleman by the name of Steve, they gave me a tone of discounts on a 2018 smoker craft pro angle xl! This is a great boat so much power perfect for what i was trying to accomplish on the water! Im from McHenry lake county area i could not recommend a better group of people to help with your recreational necessities!

We had a red oily leak under our RV and took it to Lake Marine and RV and it was quickly diagnosed as a leaking hydraulic fluid line. They fixed it quickly and at a very reasonable price. We will go back to them and no other RV shop. Very knowledgable and very friendly employees.

Dave at Crystal Lake Marine is a friendly, professional, customer centric business owner. I brought my boat to him in the fall last year to get a quote on having all my upholstery redone. His price was extremely reasonable and he did everything he said he was going to do. His workers are experts in all marine/boating repairs and know how to meet deadlines. When I need something or have a question, no matter the time of day he answers the phone and tries to address any issues/solve problems. I brought my boat into his shop 3 days before July 4th to have the Bellows replaced. His price was extremely competitive, but more importantly was the time frame I needed it done. He got it done and ready for me on July 3rd and the boat never ran better. I will not be taking my boat to any other shop in the future as there is no reason to! Crystal Lake Marine is a one-stop shop for all boating needs and the prices are right there!

They made our day...we were on our way to our favorite lake and found that the lights on the trailer were out which made it unsafe to be driving the distance we need to go. Upon going to CLM they had us all fixed up within 15 min and all safe and legal to be on the road. Very knowledgeable and diagnosed the problem quickly.

After literally months of unreturned calls and emails yes, I didn’t answer Todd’s call, not callS. There were no multiple calls on your end. Like I wrote, I’d had it with Fake Marine at that point. There were a few things I was happy with but they pale in comparison to the frustration we experienced trying to get answers and commitments from your organization.11 months of pure frustration. Crystal Lake Marine has been servicing my boat for years now. Dave has always taken great care of me. Ive recommended them to friends as well and they have always been satisfied.

Cant say anything about quality of work, but I can say that I have been trying to schedule service on my rv. No one has called me back in two weeks! I called the facility three times. I guess you just have too much money and dont want mine. If it is any condolence, general rv doesnt return calls either.

Steve is a great salesman, really enjoyed my experience and knowledge of their inventory.

I’ve heard awful things from family friends about this place. Looking at these reviews makes me think I’ll take my business elsewhere. Yikes, very unprofessional management.

My father took his RV there to install a new inverter and a started on the generator. Now the electrical system doesnt work at all. It worked fine when it was dropped off. They took zero responsibility for the damage and swore at my dad for accusing them of ruining his RV.To make matters worse, the owner creates lies trying to justify his lack of integrity and lack of performance.

***SERVICE WARNING*** ***UNAUTHORIZED WORK PERFORMED***Do yourself a huge favor and take your boat elsewhere for service. If your time on the water is precious and you have little to no time for return trips to the marina to fix the mistakes they created then read below. This is 100% accurate and can be backed up with documentation.I stored my fishing boat with Crystal Lake Marine this past winter. The owner, Dave, called one day to offer a nice price on a tune up and impeller change. His price was fair so i asked to have the estimate emailed to me. His estimate stated that he will follow up with a call to discuss the quote in a few days. After some research i found that Daves shop is not MERC certified and i have a MERC engine so i decided against the service. I replied to his email containing the quote and clearly told him not to perform any services at this time.Much to my surprise, I got a call weeks later saying my boat service was done and i could pick it up anytime. I called Dave immediately and told him about the UNAUTHORIZED work that was done on my boat. Not only was there an email stating to not do the work but he also failed in his part to follow up on the quote which would have also served as notice. He swore the work was quality so under no legal obligation to pay him, in good faith, I did anyway. He credited me one month of free storage for the hassle. I asked for 2 months but was denied. The final payment would be delivered at the time i picked up the boat April 28th.Upon pick up I noticed the lower unit nuts were not tightened. In fact, one wasnt even finger tightened. I asked for them to be tightened. Then i drove 40 miles home with my cover still on the boat. Once home, i uncovered the boat to see problem #2 and #3. The throttle was left wide open and would not shift into neutral and the prop was locked. I called Dave immediately and he said bring it back in the morning and hell take care of it. CLEARLY, this repair was not tested before i picked the boat up.I came back the next day(40 miles each way- time and gas not reimbursed) and when it was time to hook up the boat the mechanic could not start the boat. He had an alternate fuel source (greasy tanks on my tan carpet) to splice into my primer lines/bulb. Still no start. Turns out it was an inadequate cranking battery and not the primer system. They replaced the primer ball/hose with a new one then did their best to clean the grease of the carpet. I asked the mechanic if he could tighten my steering and he did it for me complimentary for my hassle i was enduring. He claimed to have bled the air from the system and all is a go.Several days later prior to departing for a fishing trip I hook up water to the engine and decide to run it for the first time before traveling 5 hours to our destination. The boat kept stalling in idle. I had to prime the ball each time. I call Dave and tell him the issue. He says it is a faulty ball and he will reimburse me if i need to replace it on my trip. Once on the water, I discover that i have no steering at speeds higher than 5 mph. I call Dave again and he has his mechanic call me not sure how this could have happened. I am now on a huge lake with no steering...a major safety hazard.With no confidence in his ability to do repairs at this point i brought my boat to a MERC certified mechanic to fix the problems Daves shop created. I paid to have these issues fixed. In turn, i submitted the repair invoice to Dave and requested FULL reimbursement. He refused. He actually expected me to bring the boat back to him AGAIN. Several emails were exchanged most containing Daves delusional sense of fairness. After i refused his paltry counter offers i decided Id be better off not accepting anything from him and warning others of the inadequacies and failures of his business.I stand nothing to gain from this post. We had a terrific experience with Crystal Lake Marine Services lately and I wanted to share it with fellow boat enthusiasts in the area. I dropped my boat (Bayliner 197 IO, Merc 4.3) off on Thursday before Memorial Day weekend due to some fluid leaking from the stern drive. I spoke with Dave on Friday and he immediately suggested that the issue may be with a steering bushing. He ended up being right and the boat was fixed by close on Saturday. I was able to have my family out on Lake Delevan on Sunday and we had a great time thanks to CL Marine. The boat ran perfectly and I will be taking my boat to Dave and CL Marine for all future servicing needs. Highly recommended.

Dave and his team at CLM are knowledgeable and professionals who deliver what they promise. I brought my 1996 Malibu Echelon in for a new block and new interior. While we ran over on the promised delivery date, it was well worth it. On multiple occasions Dave had sent my new block out to be machined and had to send it back for not being up to CLM standards. Pricing was well below quotes I had received from the other marine service centers in the area. All phases of repair were explained in detail and Dave was quick to work with me on a payment plan for the work I had done. Subsequent repairs have been needed (drive shaft inspection and stuffing box re packing due to hitting a rock with my prop) and Dave and his team have pretty much dropped everything to gete back on the water within hours of drop off at his shop. While I admit I was skeptical about the quality of work being done and the amount of time my initial repairs took to complete, those doubts have been put to rest and I will continue to take my boat there for winter/summer service and needed repairs while recommending them to anyone who asks where to get quality work done.

PLEASE, BEWARE: In Oct. of 2014, we brought our 1991 Malibu ski boat to Crystal Lake Marine to be refurbished. Our discussion centered around 3 stages of refurbishing: engine work, upholstery work and fiberglass work with payment by check for each stage as it was completed.The boat was to be completed by April 1, 2015, in fact, it was not completed until June 6, 2015, after countless broken promises of completion by the owner, Dave.Issues with work on the boat engine: CLM installed an electronic ignition/new distributor. When boat was put in the water, the low oil light went on. We opened the hood to find oil leaking from the base of the distributor due to improper installation. (Distributor clamp was not torqued down). This could have resulted in a fire. This also caused timing problems due to the loose distributor. CLM supposedly checked the timing with a timing light.Issues with fiberglass work: CLM started their process of removing the boat from the trailer, sanding the hull, filling imperfections and sanding again to prepare for gel coat. Once the gel coat was dry, they sanded and polished the sides and put the boat back on the trailer without finishing the bottom and leaving it sandpaper rough. Dave actually stated that a rough bottom on a fiberglass boat was preferable! -Really?!?!During several meetings, it was explained to us that matching the following colors was the most difficult: Grey, White, Teal, Pink, Red or Orange. He really did say this!Issues with upholstery and replacement of plywood seat templates and flooring: It was said by Dave, all wood templates were reconstructed. This was false. It was truthfully, 6 of 14 templates that were replaced. A 4 x 4 section of floor was replaced. We were charged for 7 4 x 8 sheets of plywood when no more than 3 were used, at most. (21’ boat!) Upholstery work was satisfactory.On June 6, 2015, after much frustration and enduring endless lies and angry, profane outbursts from Dave, we took our boat home and finished the remaining work that CLM was to do, so that we could get our long awaited (7+ months) boat in the water before summer was over.Issues with payment: Although all our previous payments were by check with no issue, Dave demanded final payment in cash (over $5,000) before releasing our Malibu. He actually stated that when he has strongly dissatisfied customers, he has problems with them stopping payment on checks and credit cards. –So, apparently, we weren’t the only dissatisfied customer. I’m still in shock that I could pay someone to treat me as I was treated!Certainly, we expect Dave to deny any or all of our claims. This place is a joke. Dave is a criminal. He will tell you everything you want to hear until he has your boat. Then he will hold it hostage until he empties your pocket books. Buyer beware. The prices are that low for a a reason. You get what you pay for!

This place is a joke!!! My husband took our boat last year for a complete tunne up to get it ready for the winter. WINTERIZE Well when we where running it with the water hose we notice a lot of water inside the boat. The blocks where craked and the motor started to overheat... I am so MAD!!! With this idiot Dave . I dont know what kind of fluid they ran in our motor? Probably cheap antifreeze or nothing just left the water inside the blocks.

Thi people dont know how to work on boats or motors. And all they do is smoke cigarets and drink red bulls. There shop has no marine equipment to test any electronics on a boat, see for youre self.... I highly recomend not to take your4e boat to this place... Becouse this people dont know how to do any work on anything. #1.The buffer guy is new and dosent even know how to use a polisher machine#2. The mechanic guy says his 25year exp. But he has no tools, or marine equipment to test anything. And the other machanic is new and knows nothing.#3. The upholstery that they did on my boat came of with some cheap glue and staples they used just by sitting the second time.#4. I seen this peolple trie to start a boat with no water and cranking the engine over n over so many times until the kill the battery...#5. Pay a little more than 88$ n hr but it will b worth it. Se for your self inside the wharehouse if you decide to tske youre boat there.P

Brought our RV here to be winterized. Took over 3 weeks and when I got it back, there was a dent, a broken side mirror, tires were low on air, battery cables were not tightened, you could see nothing done to winterize the sinks.... would NEVER refer these guys to my RV club. What a joke

You lied to me four times you didn’t know my boat was even finished when I called you your explanation was not a very good one so I felt people should know not to trust you and don’t go to your place sorry I just had a very bad experience at your business PS you were supposed to call me when my boat was finished but you didn’t do that either I just read Dave’s response to my negative review of his company and himself one thing is common Dave you are never in the wrong it’s always the customers fault (customers beware !!!!!👎)
