First time visiting (never saw one of these in CO). Prices were really reasonable. Lots of outdoor and hunting clothes. They actually have ammo in stock. Seems like an awesome outdoor store with a very friendly staff.

Rock, back in the gun and ammo.dept. is a very nice gentleman. He was pleasant, very informative and very helpful.

Really enjoy going to the store. It has everything you need related to sports.. And the size makes it very comfortable to shop around other people. Has an awesome section of ladies Nike clothiing!

I loved it. It reminded me of The Sports Authority we used to have in Virginia before it went out of business. I got a great deal on a pair of shoes while I was there.

I go to the Greensboro and Winston locations. Both are good and reasonably priced. Nice to have another option for sporting goods / fishing tackle locally.

Clean, organized store with helpful staff and decent prices. Large selection of sports/outdoor apparel, accessories, firearms and more.. Easily able to find what I was looking for and purchase with no troubles. Will be back soon.

I forgot my MK bangle bracelet in the bathroom stall and didnt realize it until well after leaving the store. We were in another store when I realized I didnt have it on. Wed been gone quite some time, over an hour and I figured it was gone by now. Something told me to return just in case and wouldnt you know my bracelet was returned to customer service. There are still good, honest people in the world. Thank you to whoever turned it in.

Good. But 2 employees acted as tho the item i returned had been abused or whatever. I wasnt really sure.The cashier was much nicer. Wont b going again

I went to get my husband his Fathers Day gift. There was no one in the area so went to Fire Arm area to ask if they could page someone. I waited a good 10 minutes if not more. A man came instead of asking who had paged he helped someone else. Then when he got to me and got what I asked for he started to help me to the front because it was too heavy got me. As we were walking to the front he stopped to help another customer who was standing right next to an employee who worked there. Instead of allowing him to help we proceeded to help him. Really difficult to get help.

Everything was great until we got to the register. Josh helped us spool the fishing reel that we bought and was very kind and patient. Buy when we headed to the register we went to the cashier (named Clara) to ask if he had brought it up and she just stared at us. Then asked if we were ready to check out in a rude tone. We were kinda like... uh yea (thats why we were up there). She just overall had a bad attitude and I dont know maybe she was having a bad day but the whole transaction was really awkward and tense after that.

I call in to verify a product was in stock before driving to the store. The first person who answered the phone in the dept where the item was located transferred me to the customer service people in the front of the store. They then had to call back to the people in the dept where the item was located. Supposedly the item was in stock so I went to the store to get it. After getting to the store there are none in stock. Not the first time Ive had an issue with this store.

Came here in search of a footlocker but they were out of the size I needed..My other purchases were great

This place is God Awful when it comes to customer service. They were dismissive rude and not helpful at all. First experience i had curbside to pick up a bike Had to go in twice to remind them i was there spent at least an hour in the parking lot. Swore to myself i would never return Had issues with the bike. Went back to exchange even called ahead of time because i knew it was gonna be the same experience i had before. I was not disappointed. Had to what felt like defending myself for bringing it back. And the beat goes on. Anyway Horrible. I can honestly say I will donate the bike i got today and just buy another somewhere else. That place is where customer service Goes to die.

Ordered online and called the store to verify purchased item was in stock. Spent over an hour driving to store only to find out it was sold out 6 months ago. Dont trust online shopping and they dont know what is in their own store. Another company digging in a bag of excuses.

We love Academy Sports! Our go to place for anything really. I love the Magellan line of clothes.

Pretty much stalked through the whole store as if I were a thief.... And never do I or will I steal. Made decision to leave before I caused a scene. Never have to worry about me coming back into this establishment again.

Awesome place we come from west Texas and when we found out Winston-Salem had an Academy sports we were amazed, they always have what we need upto the pandemic great place.

Easy to navigate thanks to clear signage and helpful employees. Found exactly what I needed in the end. Also had a minimal wait to checkout, as they had enough lanes open to get the line done quickly.

Staff are friendly for the most part. They seem to be short on stock right now, but that cant be helped. Other wise good place to shop for outdoor gear.

Great variety. Good sales great prices on clearance shoes. I didnt give 5 stars because staff isnt very friendly and when I shop online....which has been often lately they act like Im an inconvenience.

Great people, especially the managers, great selection of products, only have one issue, some prices are high compared to same products other stores.

I can not believe the amount of people walking around in there without a mask. Several employees mentioned the managers tell them to let everyone in and encourage visits without a mask. I will never spend my money there again, will close my cc card and file a complaint. This is unbelievable but predictable.

After searching for a new firearm and not finding much selection for obvious reasons we checked Academy Sports and found exactly what we needed at a great price. Taylor was extremely helpful and knowledgeable in helping us with our purchase. He was patient and was able to answer all of our questions. We will definitely return.

I went in with my grandma to help her buy a shotgun and she asked me to ask about a shotgun for her home defense. They would not sell it to her because I was the one who asked about the shotgun with a pistol grip.

This is THE best sports and outdoors place in Winston Salem. The prices are hard to beat and they have about anything you could ask for when it comes to this type of retailer. I get all of my workout stuff and running shoes at Academy and even picked up some nice camping gear last year

I went to this particular store to buy some weights. The checkout process took forever and the employees seemed very rude with the “I cant be bothered look”. I was then asked if I needed help, replied yes, and was greeted with a small woman to help me pick up 300 pounds of weights. Three other stronger men sat in the store while we did that. She couldn’t carry the weights so it was more her watching me. Not a good experience at all.

The people that worked in the hunting section where ride and not understanding amd did not give all options but at the front customer service was understanding and nice

This is a fairly new store wide variety of products for any sports activities you can think of I really enjoyed just walking around looking at the products available big selection of all

I was so happy to find my Sketchers D Lites that I Love!! They really do have a good selection of shoes, clothes & hunting stuff. Some items can be pricey, you just have to take the time to shop around for better prices.

Had exactly what I needed. Following covid-19 procedures. Only saw one anti-masker family wandering around.

Review is based off COVID-19 protocol alone. I watched countless customers enter the store without a mask. I tried to use curbside pickup but was told I had to go inside. I have underlying health issues so I was very nervous.I got to the pickup counter and saw AT LEAST ten customers not wearing masks. Staff made no effort to tell people to mask. Customers (masked and unmasked) got within six feet of me from multiple angles, saying “excuse me” and literally pushing by. I had to leave before the paperwork could be done and cancel my order.

It was a great visit it just that it really needs more big men clothes when it comes to working out uniforms I feel a sports store should have lease up to 5X in all things because most guys are bigger than women so the clothes for men should be much bigger than what they are have only up to a 3X for men but other than that the service was great it was hard for them to answer some questions about sizes or how do they get bigger sizes

Reasonable selection and prices, but they took away the military and law enforcement discounts which is a damn shame, especially nowadays with the current climate. Not sure if I will return, sportsman’s warehouse is still supporting veterans and law Enforcement. I am not law enforcement, but I sure as hell support them! They deserve it, even if you take away the veteran discount, should have kept the law enforcement discount intact.
