I was greeted promptly and the wait to be seen was not long. I was connected with a rep named Chad he was awesome! He not only guided me through the process but was amazingly pleasant the whole time. I was offered a great appraisal quote and sold my vehicle that same day! Everyone was professional, courteous, and went above and beyond their way to keep me informed the whole time! I highly recommend!

I worked with Donna at the Winston Salem lot. She was very professional and courteous during the whole process. I had already prequalified and got a number for my trade in . It was a smooth process and did not take much time at all. The paperwork at the business office was simple and went smoothly. The car I wanted could not be shipped to my local CarMax, so we drove about an hour to Winston Salem. I had done the paperwork for curbside service the day before to make process faster. Everyone I spoke to on the phone regarding this purchase was friendly, clear, and patient. When we arrived to pick up the car, we were greeted immediately, and associate was very pleasant. We were taken to the repair bay, where our car was waiting. We checked to make sure everything was as advertised, and could then sit in the car and wait for paperwork to be finalized. There was an issue with my financing (the lender would only cover a certain percentage over the value of the car, and the total came to a difference of about $200). The issue took about 90 minutes to work out, but we were allowed to sit in new car, enjoying excellent AC and playing with features. In the end, CarMax paid for the difference, and apologized that the issue had not been resolved before we arrived. I am thrilled with the cost and quality of my 2018 Subaru Outback. I had test driven the same year car with same features at my local Subaru dealership the day before, and that vehicle was $4000 more than the one I bought at Carmax. Excellent service, excellent price, and excellent selection!

Carmax might not work for everyone but I had a great experience. I was casually seeing what my 2019 Jetta was worth after seeing new / used car prices increasing. I had checked with several dealers first but they all had their typical tactics to lower the price after walking in the door. When I checked Carmax, I was pretty impressed. I decided to go in person to see if it held up expecting it to drop just like everywhere else. Luckily the price stayed where it was quotes. Within about 15 minutes I has wiped out my entire auto loan by selling Jetta to Carmax well above KBB. I would suggest to anyone thinking of trading in their cars to check Carmax along with your preferred local dealers. You just might be surprised like I was!

I can honestly say Ive never had a bow placed on a car for me; this was a nice surprise to end a long day!

I was offered a great price for my used vehicle. The staff was nice and helpful. What would be helpful for sellers is a clear idea of what steps happen once you get a quote, and for the process to go quicker. It took two hours to wait for someone to test drive the car, get us a quote and then cut us a check. Working out those kinks and the process would be fabulous.

I bought a 2019 Honda Civic LX about 3 weeks ago. I have no issues with the car! EXTREMELY competitive pricing! Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone looking to purchase a car, either with cash, or through financing. The representative I talked with through the buying process was very friendly, informative, and made the process as smooth as possible. None of the staff acted like a salesman, which was surprising, to say the least!

Purchased a 2017 Honda CRV exactly 90 days ago, it has been in their shop now 3 times for issues. Brakes, AC and back latch…it is now in again for the AC and brakes…the service department people are wonderful and very kind. I went in to speak to the Sales Manager last Thursday and was assured I would get a call back either Friday or Monday at the latest…here I am Tuesday with no phone calls. Ive heard nothing but great things about Carmax hence why I went there…I really hope someone makes this right for me.

I made my appointment for their on-site appraisal which was done with-in an hour and I sold Carmax my car at the quoted offer. Pro- My sales associate Chandler was great and very helpful. The car was priced fairly and doing business was easy.Con- I took my car on a trip the day after I bought it. On the 250 mile trip I found out I was sold a car with a faulty front tire and I had to replace it the very next day. It was missing all the tread on the inside edge of the tire and did not match any of the tires. As I was driving it on my trip the belt separated on it and started bouncing down the road... It had been through your inspection process and had a current NC state inspection and should have not passed. The two back tires where replaced by CarMax while it was on the lot and the front ignored. It cost me 500.00 dollars the day after I bought it. I have talked to the service department about this and brought them the receipt and a write up from Discount tire on the condition of the tire with picture included. I take my families safety very serious and this shouldnt have happened. Still waiting for a response from two weeks ago...

This poor rating started with your curb side pickup service. Absolutely terrible. I ended up having to come in and completely redo paperwork I had already done online. Dont offer a service if its not ready for consumers. We shouldnt be the guinea pigs to test out your poorly executed ideas.Issues continued from there with the car. All the car problems should have been caught by Carmaxs 125 point inspection(anyone who can find what the 125 points of inspection are wins a prize :)). I ended up having to replace all 4 brakes and rotors at the dealer because I didnt trust Carmax to do it right. We had several other problems and ended up returning the car to Carmax :(Should never have happened I partly blame myself for not having the car inspected at the dealer but this was my 10th car purchase at Carmax and Ive never had to do that before.

The first car was not road worthy.The second car did not exist. After a 1.5 hrs drive. The first car did get fixed but it took 2 weeks . I paid to get the first car delivered to my carmax and still have been refunded my money I did get a car but not very happy.

Ive sold two cars and purchased one at the Winston-Salem location and Ive been very pleased with all transactions.On both sells they offered way less frustration at a higher offer than dealerships and I had offers in under 30 minutes with a quick appraisal. No BS, no haggling. I love it.On the purchase it was a similar experience. It took longer to complete the test drive than it did to purchase the car. Staff is cool and not pushy at all.

This was the fourth car I have bought from CarMax. I didnt think it could go any smoother than the first three---but it did!!!Got the price drop alert on a Monday at 10am on one of my saved cars and it just happened to be at the Winston-Salem location about 90 minutes from me. Long story short. By 4pm that same day I was driving it off their lot and home. Dont forget 90 minutes of that timeline was me getting there. This also included trading in and leaving my car as well as applying and getting the loan!!!I worked for NASA for 30 years and am a pretty decent judge of theright stuff when I see it. And these CarMax people definitely have the right stuff 👍👍a repeatedly satisfied customerDoug C.

I showed him what I found and he began the process of having it shipped here he kept me informed throughout the whole process. We set up a 24 hour test drive and the rest is history. Wow, what a pleasant experience. I needed to sell my car and CarMax made it so easy. The customer service areas were so clean and all concerns for COVID-19 procedures were taken care of. The staff was friendly, efficient, and professional. The gentleman who inspected my car told me he had been there 3 1/2 years and that he really loved his job there. That says a lot! They even offered notary service to my sister and me for signing a title over the next day. I would definitely recommend CarMax and use it again.

BEWARE OF THE TRANSFER! I have been searching for a car for quite some time, and after finally deciding I would try a 4-door car for the first time in my life, I came across a black Lexus IS 300 at the Charlotte location. I called CarMax of Winston-Salem and spoke with a gentleman about two things: (1) the transfer process; and (2) the appraisal process for my car. He was extremely helpful and advised it would take approximately 4 days (I spoke with him on a Friday). I was set up to receive notifications of the status of the transfer. The first one I received indicated the car would arrive on Monday, which I thought was great, so I wanted to be contacted regarding a time to test drive the car. Monday came and went - no call. So, I checked the status. The arrival date had been changed to Tuesday. Tuesday came and went - no call. By mid-day on Wednesday, I still hadnt received a call or any information whatsoever about the transfer. I decided to call, rather than just listen to the automated update. I spoke with two different ladies (both professional and pleasant), but was given two different stories. The first lady indicated the car had arrived, had passed quality inspections, and the title had been transferred into the name of CarMax of Winston-Salem. She asked for me to hold and she would get me to someone who would schedule my test drive. The second lady attempted to schedule me for the test drive, but then asked me to hold while she spoke with someone in service. She returned to the line only to inform me that, yes, the car had arrived, but had not gone through quality inspections and the title had NOT been transferred. Therefore, until it passed through quality inspections, she was unable to schedule my test drive, but assured me I would receive a call later that evening or for sure by Thursday. So, Thursday arrives -- no call.After getting the runaround, I decided to just pop in on my way home to find out exactly what was going on with the car. I was greeted by a nice enough guy (never the same person twice, it seems), and I explained the situation to him. He asked me to wait just a moment and he would find out what was going on with the car. I watched him and a few other people gather around a computer, and I saw him talk to several people, including a gentleman who must have come over from the service department. He finally walks over to me and says, So, maam, heres the deal. The car was damaged in transit. So, I asked why I wasnt contacted and informed of the incident, repair, etc. His response: Maam that is something we are trying to work on with our customer service. I questioned him further about the damage, and he stated that the car had rolled forward during transit. I pressed further, and found out that it wasnt just a little scratch that needed to be painted. No, no. The ENTIRE front bumper would need to be replaced. Again, I wanted to know why I wasnt informed, to which he gave me the same we are working on that response. He then gave me his business card and promised to call me with DAILY updates. Have I heard from him ONCE? No.It is my VERY STRONG opinion that they planned to stall and repair the car prior to my scheduling my test drive, without EVER telling me about the replacement of the bumper. I consider that shady business practice, not to mention the poor customer service with respect to receiving any updates or notifications about the damage. I work in a field in which customer service will make or break you. As a consumer, customer, client, or patient, I expect to receive the level of customer service which I provide to our clients.

First time making purchase at Carmax. Found what we were looking for online, called and it was held for a test drive. Had to change the day of the test drive...no problem. Ended up running an hour behind for the test drive...no problem. Met Derrick through the door, and he took great care of us from start to finish. Very easy going, and great to work with. Walked us through all the information on the car, as well as the process on the trade in. Still in our 7 day trial period, but were very happy with the process so far, and I just cant say enough good things about Derrick, and Pamela...she was with us through the signing process, very nice, patient and willing to answer any and all questions, and explained each document. Derrick and management at this location also worked with us on making our trade in work. It was my wifes car, and she could not be there until later in the day to sign documents...it took a bit of driving on my part, but ended up being...no problem. My experience here has been a good one. Ask for Derrick going in...super cool guy..will take good care of you.

Do not recommend. Look and read the other people stars one and 2. I can relate very much so especially the one with interested and had one shipped from another state to go and Wow. Issues with the vehicle and they where to have it looked at it was supposed to have gone though another inspection. No way it would have passed. Always inspect everything even the cleaning part pills in the passenger door. Alignment yet rough ride in this vehicle. The Gentleman that helped was very nice yet to get there and be told you go find the vehicle Wow. Then no call back. Yet I now wish I had read each review on here before even dealing with Car Max of Winston N.C.

The after sale customer service is horrible. There was a missing radio control knob. I contacted the sales consultant immediately and received no response. Since they did not respond, I had to purchase the part online. I filled out a customer survey about my experience and was contacted by a Service Operator. She assured me that CarMax would reimburse me the amount ($62.78) I paid for the part. I emailed the receipt, proof of purchase, order confirmation and even the debit from my bank account. I have emailed numerous times and called serval times and to this date not received reimbursement or an email response or phone call regarding the reimbursement.

My experience my salesperson Lee was excellent. Lee went out of his way to accommodate me spending as little time in the sales office as possible. The purchasing portion of my experience was excellent. However, I wasn’t as impressed with the service department. Upon purchasing the vehicle and leaving my low pressure tire sensor went off. Additionally it seemed as if the brakes were making noise upon sharp left turns.I called CarMax and was directed to bring my car back for service 3 days later (fine, but not convenient for me). I made an appt and dropped off the vehicle for them to check. When I asked for a loaner they looked at me as if I had Lobsters coming out of my ears. They said they couldn’t just give me a loaner until they figured out if something was actually wrong with the car! Obviously I wasn’t impressed with their response and told them to just give my money back if that was the case.The service representative told me to go to sales and they would refund my money. They didn’t even bother to tell me who to speak with...and I was NOT impressed. Upon speaking with a salesperson they talked with service and 30 minutes later VERY GRACIOUSLY gave me the worst car they could find. Thanks for your help! A service technician called me later in the day and said they couldn’t find anything wrong with the vehicle. Holy cow.....I explained the scraping/grinding noise again and mentioned the low tire pressure sensor. He said he would take another look.The next day....no one had called to update me on the situation. So I called to inquire what was going on. Service said the car would be ready by 6:00 so I said, “see you then”. Upon picking up the car and leaving (with my “fixed” car, I pulled onto the highway and my tire sensor came on AGAIN. So I called the service office and they said, “it’s no problem, just bring it back and we’ll take a look”. I told the service representative that I disagreed and it was a problem for me. I don’t have time to bring it back today as I have other work obligations. SO......I brought it back the next morning and asked to speak with the service manager. He could not have been more RUDE. If I treated my customers like this, I wouldn’t have any. FINALLY I was able to pick up the car later in the day and get on about my business. Fortunately, the car seems 100% and I’m happy with the purchase (BUT definitely NOT the service process).I won’t be buying another car through CarMax and this was my 4th purchase in the last 15 years. Good car, good sales professional, terrible service representatives.

We purchase cars and keep them for a long time so its hard to try and pick the one that youll be happy with for a long time and to feel like youre getting a good deal at the same time. CarMax made it easy for us. We didnt have an appointment but it wasnt a problem even during the pandemic. Our sales consultant, Don, was easy to work with, we never felt like we were being pressured and we ultimately found the car that we purchased. The whole process only took a few hours and we are vey happy with our purchase. We definitely recommend going CarMax for your next vehicle purchase.

I was recently involved in an automobile accident with an uninsured driver and my car was totaled. I went to CarMax and was immediately greeted by Jeff who was super friendly, attentive and helpful. With COVID still rising, he followed all precautions to keep both of us safe. I test drove 2 cars and he disinfected both beforehand. He was very patient and not pushy at all. The 1st car I had my eye on was an Infinity Q50. It is a great car and had every feature I wanted except for driver assistance (after using it on my previous vehicle it was a must have). I told Jeff what I needed and he immediately went back to search their inventory for something with every feature I wanted. We stumped on my 2nd choice...an Infinity Q60 that was the right year, features more than I asked for and the price just right. I test drove it and fell in love. This was our first ever experience with Carmax and it was great from the beginning to end! We were looking for a car for our daughter and we found it in another state, inquired online about it and Christina, from the online customer service, helped us through the entire process. She helped answer all our questions, got the car transferred, and even set up an appointment when it was delivered to the store. The whole buying experience was seamless and very easy to do but the biggest compliment I can give was that every single person from the online person, to our face-to-face salesperson, to the financing department was so helpful and very nice! They genuinely acted like they cared about my daughter getting her new car! They made it exciting and fun instead of dreadful. Our family will definitely be repeat customers of Carmax! Full of it gave me an offer for my car as a trade in for 3500 and still Told me I had to put 11,000 to 6,000 down on top of a 500 a month payment for a car that was 14,998 I use to think they was a good car place but I wouldnt send any one there who trying to do a trade in your going to pay more then the care is worth my max loan offer was 27,000
