If you need to shop for Newborn up to 6 or 7 year old, this is a great place. A great place to buy things, but not such a good place to sell things. I took winter clothes there, which they say they need now. Out of 17 pairs of jeans they bought 3. They bought around $15.00 worth of my stuff and said they didnt want the rest because of stains and tears. They Lied. None of these things had a stain and none were torn. It just, they want you to buy from them but they do not want to buy from you. I had looked and there was plenty of room on the racks for this size jeans. Makes no sense to me. Guess Ill just do consignment from now on. And also buy from consignment shops.
They stopped taking items 45 min after opening. Pretty annoying that you can make a cute colorful sign for the front of your store turning people away and saying “you should call ahead of time” but can’t post it on your website or something for those without cell service. Is most of your customers not people who are down and out looking for a little extra cash? I came from Thomasville will two small children in tow. Why would anybody expect you to not be taking items right after you opened?
I read the reviews before going, and really noticed that the staff all seemed very friendly and nice to everyone. They made an effort to great each and every person who came in. They even talked to the babies and children, smiling and super friendly! They were helpful and seemed genuine. They had a good selection of baby and kid items. Some really nice clothes, very cheap prices! Strollers and many toys! It was a lot! Definitely worth the drive if you need something for your kid or baby.
I was thoroughly impressed with the inventory that I was able to find at this location since they moved and renovated. I’m not going to lie, I used to never come to this one and would drive all the way to Greensboro’s store. I found tons of great stuff and things that I was looking for specifically. Things were near and organized and the staff super friendly! Looks like I won’t have to drive all the way to Greensboro anymore! Yay!!

Went here last night & behind the counter was a disaster. There were 2 girls up front tripping over stuff trying to help us. I asked if that was from everyone bringing clothes & they said yes they were just having a hard time keeping up with getting the clothes out because so much was coming in... looks like management needs to get a hold on this place. It was disorganized chaos! Good selection of clothes for very cheap that was appreciated.
My wife and took some kids clothes there...dropped them off on 5/24/2021 at 10:56am...at 2:30 the still werent done but had them all in the buy bin saying they were finishing up when we went back saying it had been awhile and we had to go to other places. The girl said oh well give me five minutes to finish the order up and showed us what they wanted...okay. We park and go in and they did a 180 about face. Had everything back in our bag and said could only take 2 items saying it should go to Platos closet. We get our items and leave. Upon leaving and getting him we noticed they lied...they took 8 items....8 items, 3hrs and what did we get...$3! Completely rude and thieves...go elsewhere or sell it yourself on Facebook!
Came here with my two year old son. Bless these girls for their patience. My son was unhappy while I was just trying to find him clothes for winter. Everyone was so nice and so helpful. Store was much more roomy than some of the other stores I’ve been to. Great prices also. Thank you guys!
Please save yourself time before you try to sell here. I brought in 60+ items of like new clothing, no stains, no pilling, no holes. They picked 7 or 8 items to take and gave me back the rest telling me “they’re stained and well loved.” I spent hours combing over these clothes making sure I took only the best to them. Save your energy and sell your clothes yourself, not only will you get more money for them but you won’t have to deal with the lies these people tell. I’ve added some pictures of items they turned away just to show you how unreliable these people are.

Listen to the reviews about the rudeness of the staff, they are all true. I just took a full bin of jeans down there an hour ago. They were laundered before storing in a plastic bin. About 45 minutes later I get a text saying they wont take ANYTHING. I call to inquire as to why and Sabrina tells me that the notes say that there is an odor to the clothes and that there is pet hair in the bin and that I must have had a small dog laying on the clothes.How could a dog lay on clothes in a bin? Also note I dont have a small dog.When I replied to this, and told her that I was pretty insulted, Sabrina responded that she wasnt the manager or the owner.Now, I took a chance on OUAC, based on the reviews I read here. I told her that, and her response was to HANG UP ON ME. I never raised my voice or used bad language. I simply told her that she had insulted a customer. She didnt care.This is their business model, folks. Find somewhere else. It isnt worth it. They take all kinds of beat up stuff and resell it, then tirn around and claim weird things when they dont feel lime sorting that day. (They had bins stacked 4 high when I walked in the door that morning).EDIT TO ADD: I just went to pick up the bin, and encountered Sabrina in person (unknowingly at first, as when I was in line she removed her lanyard so she could not be identified, I suppose). I asked to speak to the manager, and she said she was a keyholder/MOD (note that she lied on the phone when she claimed she wasnt a manager). I then clarified that if she was Sabrina, I would like to speak to someone above her about the way I was treated on the phone.She then pulled a face and immediately started raising her voice, claiming that I yelled at her and was rude to her. None of that happened. She then attempted to publicly humiliate me by saying Stick your nose in that bin and see if you would buy those clothes.I refused to play her game, and calmly repeated my request for the corporate number. She eventually gave it to me, after denying hanging up on me and claiming a customer witnessed me supposedly yelling at her, as well as generally making a scene in front of customers.I am now waiting on their district manager to return my call.**As someone as decided to call me a liar, I am adding photos of the clothes and bin. You can clearly see the number from the store. Dirty, I think not.Interesting that of all the reviews about the rudeness of the employees, mine is the one singled out.***Final Edit: I have spoken to the store manager, who was very apologetic about the behavior of her employee. She invited me to come back in and let her go through the clothes personally as far as a buy. I am considering the option.

Drove all the way to Winston to do some shopping there. Did someone miss their shift? Other shoppers showed up as well to be disappointed.

This location was fine. The staff didnt really speak at all except to each other. The girl who checked us out was very friendly though. The store was a mess, tons of items misplaced. The selection was very small and really not that great. There was absolutely nothing for my 3 year old son besides tons of plaid buttom downs and very dated denim jeans. And there were almost no shoes for my son. And then they just throw all the boys boots in totes for you to dig through and maybe they will have your size. The toys were poorly organized, we couldnt find anything and most of it was baby items. I gave it 3 stars because the staff were friendly enough, it was clean (sanitized), and the size of the store was nice.
They have excellent prices on gently used childrens clothes and accessories. The only negative is they always stop buying clothes very early, so it is hard of you are a seller. Only negative really.
Love this place!Since I read so many bad reviews of this place I was ready to meet unfriendly staff but they were nice. They go check on the items very thoroughly but I understand that. It should be able to sell. I sold lots of baby clothes and gears, and I so happy theres this kind of store.
These are the most disrespectful people that work in this building they lied about a product that my daughter had bought into the building they kept it for a few days and then when I went to pick the product up they made up another lie so if Im going to give some clothes to someone it would most definitely will not be them and instead of them wanting to pay you for the clothes they want you to donate them which is odd to me because they were adamant about her wanting to donate the clothes but the product had something in it that was not true and I just thank these or Shady people and yeah not my cup of tea

Everytime I go up there to take clothes they tell me there not taking in stuff anymore I call before going and by the time I get there they stop doing it its almost a 45 minute drive for me. They tell me to call and I do but still when I get there they done
This place is so unreliable. You call and they say they are taking clothing etc so we pack stuff up in a bin because they no longer take items in bags. Head to the store and they are like “Sorry but we aren’t taking anything after 3PM today”. What a complete and total waste of time. This place leaves a lot to be desired.
Absolutely love going here! There is one staff member in particular that I particularly adore, and her name is Tiffany! She is very knowledgeable of everything in the store and helped me locate everything I needed quickly and efficiently on more than one occasion! I can honestly say she is the only reason that GLADLY return to the store for future purchases! Just wanted to say thank you so much for your help on everything! You are awesome! Some things are a little too worn to be resold in my opinion but you can always find something great The deodorizer is so strong that I rather not take my baby in and they is just 1 single restroom which is frustrating because everyone in the store has a child with them so its rare that you can use the restroom. Still definitely worth the stop!

Very rude. I went today to try and find some clothes for my boys who are in desperate need of summer clothing items. When I got there and walked in the store I wasnt greeted. I was asked if I had a mask. I said no and asked if they had one(most people do this day and age to offer to customers/clients) I mean come on not everyone has access to a mask or face covering. They were rude and wouldnt let me stay in the store. They also asked if my child had a mask. Hes autistic and I will not put a mask on him as he takes it right off. This was my first time going to a Once Upon a Child and will be my last for sure. It would be nice if they read their reviews so I could speak to someone. Most places now arent requiring a mask. Dont shop here...ever
I love how they offer such great prices on kid items. The only thing I wish was a little better is the discounts they offer. For instance have to spend so much just to get a decent discount.
I honestly wasn’t expecting to get much fromThe items I was selling, however I do know I was lied to and they are extremely picky I checked all of the clothing for stains smells etc none have stains holes and you can barely tell they have been worn. “The ones we wouldn’t take are very stained and worn out” what they did take I don’t understand why take that but not the clothes still on their original hanger with their tags attached. I was also greeted by a few very rude women upon arrival I also didn’t expect it to take them 4 hours to make their decision, I stopped in to check and they rudely said we haven’t even gotten to it yet mind you I live 30 minutes away from this establishment so lots of wasted time and gas from this experience.Edit: I have now also realized they didn’t even bother to go through all of the clothing.I will never waste my time here again! And from the few minutes I spent walking around the store they’re over priced

Let me start off by saying that I’ve never had problems here until now. And I’ll add that the facility is clean and well organized every time I’ve been. But today rubbed me the wrong way and I’ll have to agree with others that have left bad reviews about the staff. The way I was addressed upon leaving made me uncomfortable to put it lightly. Someone was blocking the door and as I waited to see if she was leaving or coming back in she turns to me and says “can you WAIT a minute?” In a harsh tone. Like I was about to run her over or something? Or that I was supposed to know what she was doing? I was shocked to see she was wearing an employees shirt! She tried to explain something about the alarm system but mumbled the whole time. I just stood there and looked at her like she was crazy! I won’t go back to this one again, the location in Greensboro has always been friendly, clean, and helpful.
Love this store. Easy to find sizes and what you need. Fitting rooms came in very handy. With a large family we were able to get in and out with ease. Very well organized.

The best place to buy and sell childrens clothes in Winston Salem. I always find a ton of gently used stuff for my kids and can trade in their old stuff. They are kind of picky about what they take but that speaks for the quality of their merchandise. It does typically take time to sort the items but overall, worth the wait!
Buying is OK but do not sell .! I brought in 3 brand new NEVER WORN Shoes and they offered me $6.00 for ALL 3!!!! Im sure theyll turn around and sell EACH PAIR for at least 5.00 or more. I walked clean out laughing like yea right !

I took some clothes to sell and basically they tried to offer me a dollar an item for named brand clothes! When I told them I would not accept an offer of 17 dollars the girl had a nasty attitude but I didnt care because I can get an attitude too! Ive consigned at events and have made hundreds off of the clothes that I spend good money for. No Im not trying to become rich but they are robbing people and reselling the clothes for 5 to 10 times more than what they offer you! I will never consigned or shop here again believe that and Im telling everyone I know not to shop here!

I could not believe some of the posts I just read from other shoppers. This is the only place I buy my sons clothing and shoes. I do not sell clothing to them, I give mine away to people I work with who have boys. I am very pleased with this store, I buy his shoes and sneakers there. Where else can you go and buy a Ralph Lauren shirt for $5. I also purchase my sons holiday outfits, pajamas and some toys. The staff have always been helpful and pleasant.

I have shopped with this store for year. Made many purchases over the years with no problems. This is the first time I have ever felt the need to say anything negative but I feel like I am justified. Along with my purchase was a pair of leggings. The cashier said someone had priced them wrong and wanted to charge me more than triple the price in the leggings. I told her I felt like I should get them for the price displayed on the tag. She completely ignored me with no response. I told her to remove them from my purchase. What she was trying to charge me was not the price I felt I should pay for them. She never spoke to me. I told her I would be posting my concerns. I feel like she did not handle this properly. I shop here quite frequently and have NEVER. Experienced any rude employees. You must realize that Once Upon a Child only wants to buy the very best! You cant expect to take clothes that are stained or worn, maybe even faded and receive a great profit. They too have to make a profit off of the clothes that they buy from you. This is a consignment shop, they work just like any other consignment shop. If you have such horrible complaints take your clothes to good will get a tax write off and call it a day. Do not tarnish a good business because of the price you were given for your childrens clothes! I came in a few days ago to help my sister look at a toy for my niece. It was on the top shelf so an employee got it down. While my sister was looking at it the two employees standing with us were rolling their eyes and making faces at each other like we were inconveniencing them or they were too good to assist a customer. Very disrespectful and rude. There was no reason for it.
My experience was horrible. All the reviews about rude staff are true! I read the reviews and thought Id give it a chance anyway. I went in and found a bouncer and it had a price tag for $20 on it. When I went to pay it ended up being $45 in the computer. The snobby last behind the seat rudely informed me that that tag had fallen on the bouncer I ended up getting my money back and just leaving. I absolutely do not recommend this store at all! In fact Ill be reporting them to the BBB.
Prices have gone up since the remodeling! The clerk said no but I disagree! Dresses in there cost 12 bucks used! I saw legging for 8 dollars! You can get them new at Walmart for 4 dollars! Mega thrift is a lot better!
They were having a big sale because they are moving locations... All of the employees were extremely rude that day I know that they had a lot going on but they were literally screaming at customers at the top of their lungs and making us feel stupid because we didnt know where the line was supposed to start and end....Another time that I had come to this particular Once Upon a Child I brought a bunch of really nice clothes that were name brand and some of them are brand new with the tags still on them in perfect condition, and they were in season, and they were offering me such a low amount that it was ridiculous I am made more selling my clothes at a yard sale than I would have done telling them to them.. I told them no thank you and that they could keep their money.... But its funny because a couple of the other times I was there I saw a black girl came in with a bunch of clothes that were not near as nice as mine and they offered her a lot more money than they offered me... All of the employees are black mostly there and they treat black girls a lot better than they treat the white girls I have heard this from multiple Caucasian females that have had this problem at this particular Once Upon a Child.
I have been BUYING and SELLING clothes at this location for almost 4 years now. I have been able to find great deals here. However, the past several time I have brought clothes to sell, I have been offered no more than $6.00 or $7.00 for a couple of dresses, a pair or two of pants or shorts, and maybe 3-4 shirts/sweaters. I completely understand that items need to be in good condition for resell. The items I take, I make sure have no holes, stains, and are not worn out in the knees or anything. They are rediculously picky about clothes. Many of the items I take my daughter didnt wear but a few times. I wait around for 3-4 hours for my buy to be finished, only to go pick it up and be offered nothing. When I go I take either a large size tote or big retail store bag.I am tired of my time being wasted and being told my items are worthless, when I know for a fact they are in perfect condition. Whoever is doing the buying needs to be retrained!I WILL NOT BE BUYING OR SELLING FROM THIS STORE EVER AGAIN!!!
I will never again. My son had clothes hed only wore once & brand new Nikes and Jordans he never wore. They offered me $13. DO NOT SALE TO THEM. ITS A WASTE OF TIME AND GAS. Love this store but theres no way to get a message to the store managers via email. A couple months ago when in your store there was 4 adults with 5 kids who were stealing clothes. They were putting them down in a stroller and going to the bathroom in groups of 3-4 putting them on the kids. I didnt report it at the time because I forgot but you may want your staff to watch people closer.
I took baby clothes and toddlers clothes, kids grow very fast, their clothes are barely worn and some of them not at all and they said that they are worn out. I also took a jumper/gym and my son used it 5 times and they said they couldnt take it because the part where the legs go was a little bit dark, then I took a girls walker everything new and she didnt accepted it because it had a half an inch of a erasable marker on the seat. When I was looking for a walker for my son last year, there was a walker with mold and spider webs. At least I had the courtesy to clean and wash the clothes before I take them, but I guess it was not enough. The last time I took my babys clothes, they didnt even called me or texted me to let me know that they were ready to be picked up, I had to call them a week later. This store does sell nice clothes and I know some of them will be worn out and I dont mind. It is a used store after all. I am not sure if I will be back to sell stuff, maybe next time I will go to the one over in Greensboro.
As a buyer, I would highly recommend this place. I no longer live in Winston, and I try to come here every time I come back because I always seem to find really nice clothes at reasonable prices.As a seller, not so much. I brought in clothes/toys one time, and just didnt get a lot of money for what I brought. I was personally okay with not getting a ton of money, though, and didnt really have high expectations to begin with. A lot of consignment stores are unfortunately stingy with paying sellers.Other sellers may have had bad experiences, but Im still really glad that there is a good place in Winston to buy second-hand kids clothes.
I always find something good. Clothes are usually reasonable and very good condition like new. They do tend to mark up stuff kind of high of they are name brands though. Found some great other items for cheap like toys and strollers and seasonal holiday outfits. Really wish they had more selection of pajamas though bc i cant seem to find any 4 or 5t much lately. They have a good price for name brand nicr pjs so I look for those alot especially footies when it gets colder!
They had a lot of nice childrens clothing their toys shoes all kinds of stuff especially for babies kids grow so fast its very organized very Nate very clean people are friendly and will help as much as they can also it is a good place to take your old belongings if your child has outgrow theres

I love to go to once upon a child, but I will never ever go to this location again!! I drove 45 minutes to this location to drop off 2 big boxes of clothes, and they tossed them on the shelf without looking or labeling them! When I went to fill out the drop off form, the woman was extremely rude and she then proceeded that it would be the next day before they could go through them but they would offer me $4 for an $30+ activity table that I had. I calmly refused bc at that price I would much rather give it to someone that could use it. Im sorry but the attitude was terrible business!!
The staff was the rudest staff I have ever dealt with. They act as if youre a bother every time you ask a question! Especially when asking to use their restroom! The employee that took my sell acted as if it was an inconvenience to her that sells were being brought in. I understand they get a lot of sells daily but that is part of their job and therefore they should not treat us customers as an inconvenience. When I arrived I was told that it would take an hour to an hour and a half for them to go through my stuff. After waiting an hour an a half I asked them how much longer, they said two to three hours.

Well I see a lot of bad reviews thus far. And to be honest, I called to make sure they were excepting all seasons and to get an idea of what exactly they would accept (before I drop off the rest for donation). The lady had an attitude from hello. Every question that I asked, she responded as if Im incompetent. Very rude. Im contemplating if giving these clothes to such rude people, is worth the drive to Winston. To be honest I think I may just drop everything off at good will instead of dealing with such insipid attitudes. There was no reason for her unnecessary attitude.
Great looking clothes, but the prices are a little high imo. Clothes here range anywhere from 1-10$. The store is clean and looks nice, but the staff can be very rude at times.They also buy used clothes, but I wouldnt recommend selling your items here. They offer low buying prices and sometimes wont even accept an item even if it is in good condition.. (staff can be rude during this discussion also). Encore Kids in Kernersville is better 👍
Has a 1st time mom to be I have been very overwhelmed the past couple of months wondering how in the world I would afford to buy all the items a new baby needs. I was referred to Once Upon a Child in Winston Salem, NC and immediately my worries went away. The store carries everything from gently used clothing for babies and children to playpens and swings. All of the items are a fraction of the price that they would be if bought new at a retail store. I may be a new mom to be, but I have many moms around me that let me know just how quickly babies grow out of clothes and even bouncing seats. I bought nearly all of the clothes my son will need at Once Upon a Child and it didn’t hurt my wallet doing so. I even got a 4Moms Mamaroo there which costs over $200 in retail stores.I love going into the store and looking through all of the clothes, it is extremely easy to find the size and even color of an item I am looking for. The store has always been clean and organized when I went in. The employees are always very friendly and welcoming when you walk into the store. I have also sold to Once Upon a Child and the service I received was nothing but amazing. I would highly recommend shopping at Once Upon a Child to any mom to be or parent. Your wallet will really thank you!

Nice selection. But, if you are consigning, the wait for your stuff to be looked through can be hours, and they dont typically allow you to pick it up another day. I got there early thinking it would be a short wait, unfortunately there was a whole list they hadnt finished from the day before and I had to wait hours anyway. Dropping it off and coming back later only works for those who live nearby.
This store has THE rudest staff I have encountered at any business. I took in large box of NB-6 month name brand clothes (mostly Carters, some Calvin Klein, OshKosh and Gerber- about 50 items total) that my daughter had outgrown to consign. The girl who took my information was incredibly rude and unhelpful. I told her I may not be able to come back same day and she got an attitude and said they couldnt take my items. Eventually I arranged for my husband to come back later and left the items. When my husband returned, he was told they were only going to purchase 8 items from the box and that the rest were too stained or damaged. When I opened the box to see what they didnt take, absolutely NONE of the clothes were stained or damaged, and several items still had tags on them and had never even been worn. We will never return to this location to purchase or sell.

I buy 90% of my daughters stuff from here and they always have adorable, clean clothes for her!! Never been disappointed when buying stuff from Once Upon A Child.. Selling on the other hand.. I know they have to make a profit off of their stuff but dang lol. I took a full trash bag of clothes and shoes and they wanted to make an offer on about 70% of my items for like $45 haha. When one pair of shoes that were in the bag costed that much new.. I feel like they should offer a little bit more but what can you do?? Im not gonna keep stuff that my daughter doesnt wear and/or cannot fit into just because they dont wanna give me top dollar...... some staff members are rude.... Im also trying to figure out why I dont see clearance items here anymore

Extremely RUDE staff! Every time I go in the store the workers give the the worst attitude. They all act like they don’t want to be there. It’s completely ridiculous! Whoever is hiring these people obviously don’t need to be working there either. It seems to have gotten worse every since they updated the store..
Good place, fair prices, but do not offer a lot for clothes.
Horrible!! I went to the bias one in Greensboro before coming here and they are both horrible!! Brand new clothes with tags! The one in Greensboro told me they were too loved even though they had the tags. Decided to try the one in Winston, sure they took them. I had 24 pieces of brand new toddler boy clothes and only got offered $19!!! Such a ripoff!!! This is the first time in 4 years I had given this company a chance and still had gotten let down!!! I was better of donating for a good cause this this! They even have terrible customer service. Last time I was told my clothes were too urban! Since when did old navy and jcpenny become urban??!! Never again will I go to another store. I will stick to the consignment shops. I shouldve read the reviews first!!
I dont sell my clothes here bc I dont like the offers but I love to shop here. Seems lately their shoes are disgusting and shouldnt even be available for sale. The racks were bare also. Staff has always been friendly to me. Overall I would recommend, just gotta go through and pick out what you like. Again---the shoes here are very dirty and too disgusting to buy.
Today was the first time going to this location. The staff was extremely RUDE & I got offer $4 for a baby bouncer seat. I will not be going back to the Winston location EVER!!!
As a former employee I wouldnt recommend anyone searching for employment to even consider this company as a choice! Ive never worked for anyone that doesnt take the well being of their employees into consideration. This company disregards health issues as well as doctor notes and punishes the workers by write ups if the shift isnt cover. But whats really awful is that Stephanie Farmer bands old employees just for the reason of her own dislike of them. So before you consider this place please think twice!

My daughter and I went to once upon a child today to sell some clothes that she had recently outgrown, we dropped off our items and were told it would be an hour and a half wait and they gave us their card to call back to see if our items were ready for pick up, after going to lunch and a couple shops nearby because we live about an hour away and didnt want to leave the area two hours had passed, we called to see if our items were ready and were told that it would be about another hour and a half wait I explained to the lady that we were told that at drop off, I proceeded on to the store to pick up my items with intensions to return another day with them, when I was told that my items had been gone threw and was waiting to be entered in the computer, so my daughter and I waited about fifteen more minutes, our name was placed on the board stating that our items were ready, for them to rudely say we will pass on your items today, then why was I told they were putting my items in the computer why did they not just give me my clothes fifteen minutes earlier, this was my first time and last time to ever go to the Winston Salem store
I am a usual seller and buyer here and I have had different experiences with this place, but one thing that pisses me off is nit picking my well clothes that are in good condition ....I brought 50 pecies of well maintained clothes and even items with tags on them and they wouldnt take them finding any mark that you would have to sit and look for they cant expect it but when you go shopping every other shirt has visible stains, food, and marker on it .I cant with this place anymore and I have given them alot of good clothes and alot of my money! These are childrens clothes that will NOT be brand new and if they are this place will not give you even half of what you have paid, sell you clothes elsewhere !
