I was referred by another mechanic to repair a bad connector. I asked the receptionist for an estimate, and was told that they had a 14k diagnostic, and that they had two mechanics drive my car around, and one examined my cars activity on a computer. I later found out that was her way of saying that they were going to charge me $100 to tell me what I had just told the receptionist.I gave her the keys, and an hour later, the mechanic told me what the supercomputer had told him, that I had previously told the receptionist, that the previous mechanic had told me, and that it would cost $100 to repair. An hour later, they told me that repairs would cost $237 (I think they originally quoted me $277). When I asked him why it was that much, he repeated back to me what the mechanic had told me, that the supercomputer had told him, and that I had told the receptionist, that the previous mechanic had told me. When I stared at him blankly, he said, This is for your information.. Finally, he walked off, muttering, He expects me to do $200 of work for free, even though he hadnt done the work. After emptying my bank account, my wallet, and borrowing $20, they let me have my keys back, and my check engine light came on after 20 minutes. I went to my previous mechanic, and he told me to go back, and get a waiver. Not only did they refuse to give me a waiver without having $200 more work done, they refused to fix their bad repair work, saying, That must not have been the problem.. So the problem that the previous mechanic had told me, that I had told the receptionist, that the supercomputer had diagnosed, and their mechanic had told me, was not actually the problem. When I took it back to the previous mechanic, he got an electrical shock when he tried to touch the work the mechanic had done.Luckily, I was able to give the receipt they had given me to another inspection station, and got my waiver. But, if after reading this, you still want to bring your car to this place, all I can suggest is that you empty your bank account, your wallet, and flush it down their toilet, and leave. At least that way, they cant waste your time.

I had a problem with my left brake light and my trailer brake lights. The lights had not been working for about 3 weeks or more. I took the truck to 3 shops to get estimates…...each quoted $200 to $300 to repair. Two were ASE Certified, 1 was a cargo trailer yard that works on trailer wiring every day. I felt either one would be an OK choice. I was OK with the $200 to $300 estimate. My friend had used Douglas Auto and raved about their wiring experience, so I decided to take it to them. I read the sign that told me there was a $90 an hour charge to run diagnostics. I thought that was a little excessive, but I agreed to it thinking that it would save time on the repair. I told them I had changed the circuit board that holds the light bulbs and I had a wiring harness in the back if they needed it. They called me about the estimate and said that the voltage was not high enough so I figured that it shouldn’t cost more than $300 to repair. They called me the next day to tell me the truck was finished. I ask how much I owed, and he told me $739.38. After I got back up off the floor, I went to retrieve my truck and to see what could have cost that much. He stated that the wires were a mess and that the truck was not set up for trailer connection, and it also needed a converter box.I know better than to argue with a garage that is holding your truck or car hostage, you’re going to pay them, or you won’t be driving it home.I’ve owned this truck since it was new in 2004, it came with a towing package on it and I’ve been towingwith it every week for 14 years with out a problem with the lights, except for the last 3 weeks or so. So, I’m not sure why it needed a converter box, or if it ever needed a box. I’m not a mechanic. But for someone to tell me it wasn’t set up to have trailer lights when I’ve been towing that long? Someone is mistaken.I won’t be using Douglas Auto anymore, and I hope anyone reading this review will take heed before they use them.

Weve been going to Douglas Autocare (formerly Douglas Battery) for years. We have always had a pleasant, professional experience. The mechanic work is solid. Diagnosis and repairs seem to be correct every time. Ive never felt that I paid too much for the work completed. Although I dont like car repairs, we always know we will be taken care of by the staff and by Mr. Douglas.

Manager was a jerk acted like I knew nothing. Kept insisting one thing was wrong even though it was brand new and I kept asking them to check the wiring when they finally did and found that a wire was cut he still insisted the other part was bad. The mechanic was polite when I finally got to talk to him directly. Ended up fixing it myself by splicing the wire together and everything worked fine. I reccomend the mechanic but definitely not the shop.

Jim Douglas knows great customer service will keep a customer loyal. I happen to have a Douglas auto battery with a weak to almost no cranking and Jim addressed it perfectly. If an auto battery loses its cranking ability, it may also cause the Check Engine Light on older model Euro cars to come on with some odd P-code #s. The battery was re-charged and those CEL codes cleared! Douglas is long-time, Winston business offering great batteries. Thanks Jim.

I read all the reviews with high hopes, Unfortunately this was a very unpleasant experience. Came to fix rear noise that they thought was bad tires and brakes. Took two trips to fix brakes and I had to wait ALL DAY because this was my only means of transportation plus they got wrong parts. Then after all that / it still wasnt fixed. Called to verify work and the woman was extremely rude and bit my head off when I called back she said she was busy.Turns out it was a bad wheel bearing and could have caused an accident. I took it someplace else had it repaired in less that 2hrs the people were polite UNLIKE these rude people. They are disorganized wanted me to leave car there over the weekend when its closedto sit there for 3days plus its 1st come first serve hmmm for brake job ??? Really. Dont walk away RUNNNNN!!!
