This review is more about the restaurant...Must Try: Idly with Sambar and Chutney. Non vegetarians can even try the idly with Chicken curry. The idlys are served hot and they are awesome. Tastes the same as South Indian.Due to pandemic, the menu items are limited and dine in option is not available. Please call them before visiting the place.Other veg and non veg curries are tasty too (again menu is limited). The cost is $ (almost everything is available for less than $10)Hope they maintain the same quality and quantity for the cost.Alongside, you also get all Indian groceries and vegetables.South Indians dont miss the Idly and Sambar with Peanut and Tomato chutney.
The store has most of the groceries I need. I wish it was more organized and easier to navigate through. They recently changed the layout completely. There is usually only one or two people at the counter, and service is slow, so lines can get long. Staff are usually pretty helpful. It is not very clean or upscale like many grocery stores. Overall, it is not a bad place to get your South Asian grocery needs at a decent price.
I usually shop from this store. But today I purchased 04 packs of Britannia digestive biscuits and surprisingly, I found 01 of the packet expired on june, 2018. Could you think 3 years back! Its really so frustrating. Though it cost only $1.69 but I think it is an act of negligence, careless monitoring and violation of consumers right. It also can cause serious health hazard.Answer to the owner:I am so disheartened and extremely shocked to see your response. Sorry to say that your answer to my review is absolutely unacceptable, rude and unprofessional. You denied the truth and tried to defend yourself saying that it was not your shop which really refer to your arrogance and scape tendency. You are trying to give an impression that my claim is false and you are blaming some other shop for selling that expired biscuits. I want to clearly mention that please stop blaming others for your own fault and try to show some respect to the customers who suffered due to the lack of proper monitoring and quality assurance.
Whats good : Best samosas of Delaware, Decent menu for the price u pay at kuteer dining, good availability of packaged Indian condiments and food products. Decent staffWhats bad : Limited options of Indian vegetables available, vegetables usually not fresh. Cramped up store sometimes gets too crowded.
I visit this grocery store if I only need one or two items. Whatever vegetables they have are stale most of the time, so I don’t prefer this grocery often. On emergency situations I do visit this store because this is the closest Indian grocery to my home.
Many date expired items were seen.
Good experience here. Cashiers are always welcoming unlike few Indian stores with frown faces. They patiently help us in what were looking for. Kitchen items are always delicious...if only its On-going coz sometimes the kitchen is closed during peak hours. The owner greets and caters to your needs well when requested.
Kitchen service is slow but taste is good. People working at store are courteous and helpful. Maintaining the expired food items and restocking items is inconsistent and unreliable .Mostly see expired or stale items on shelf. Be careful . Coupon system is clearly making fool of customers .... $2 coupon after spending $25 and that coupon can be used only after spending $15 next time. Over all not very big fan of this store.
We got here often for grocery shopping. The owner and workers are courteous and helpful. Store is generally well stocked. If anything is sold out owner generally attempts to restock in a couple of days
Genuine Indian grocery. Chock-full of a great variety of Indian foods and ingredients. Super deals on spices that are very expensive elsewhere. Some fresh produce at reasonable prices, and a good refrigerated section. I will definitely be back.
Place is just fine for Indian groceries. Folks at store are good as well. Only thing they need to attract more customers is by being competitive in price, quality, variety and cleanliness. They are at a very good location and they should make better use of it by working on improvements I listed.
Its a small market, but they have food you can order to take out and the prices are great.
You can find almost every Asian specially Indian and Bangladeshi foods here!
Indian grocery store.good place for all your veg and food shoppingonly issue with veg are some time not fresh
Nice Indian grocery store. It is always stocked and well arranged. Deals are nice and prices are reasonable and staff was nice and helpful.
Great staff and good food. There are few Indian grocery stores in our area and this one has a good variety and is clean. The restaurant part has good food. Since finding this store we only shop here for Indian grocery items.
Accommodating and the varieties are of quality and great selection.
I love this small grocery store. I buy chicken all the time. Perfectly cut and very clean, ready for curry. The food at the restaurant “Kuteer” attached to it is insanely cheap and tastes decent.
Always good for quick shopping and eating. Easy on pocket food
Maintenance is not good and they will have expired products, not a good quality products. I felt that its a worst place to get groceries.
Very good for Indians, you will get mostly all Indian products here, I love as vegetarian food here with very genuine cost
Nice little Indian grocery store with an attached restaurant. Good if you are in a jam and want Indian.
Decent shop, a bit small but has most of the things I want. The veggies arent super fresh but decent enough to be used within a few days. They also have a restaurant as part of the Grocery shop but havent eaten there yet.
At last, a good Indian groceries shop in Claymont... superb variety, competitive pricing, fresh produce, topped off with excellent service... Keep it up!Jitesh
Great place to get a tasty food. Very reasonable price.
Variety of groceries but friendly prices. International foods are in plenty here. I love the place
Good Indian grocery, friendly staff. We were able to find everything we wanted here. Good selection of spices. More Kerala goodies needed, that’s my only suggestion.
Punugulu are best and good collection of sweets n homestyle snacks.
Very good shop with all kind of Indian groceries. You can get all kinds of Indian snacks and masalas. They have a small restaurant and you can get typical south Indian foods.
This one is the closest who lives in Whitney Claymont apartments, other than that I would say it’s like seriously understaffed and we have to wait for a long long time to get a single thing. But there are good varieties of all Indian food available.
The place is a nice medium sized Indian grossary store. It also has a small kitchen which serves good quality and delicious food.
Good place to find Indian grocery. Price is much higher than other india grocery store. But good to go and collect your immediate item in quick time.
To go indian grocery store. Fresh chicken and goat meat is available. Staff is very friendly they cut the meat in specified size. Fresh vegetables are also present but the variety is very limited. You get all the basic grocery items. Indian frozen foods. There is a small take away food counter, over the counter sometimes you do get biryani.
Most of the time the vegetables wont be fresh and limited variety too. They also sell fresh cut chicken and mutton. Evenings theres a chat corner, but it tastes very average.
Very clean, very organized and has such great selection. This is the best Indian grocery store I have ever seen.
Friendly staff.. Most of the Indian grocery and vegetable items available.. Added attraction is the small cafe serving few Indian dishes including samosa and tea..interior recently redesigned to have better spacing.. Saw few Americans too shopping ..
One and only Indian store here. No other options for Indian grocery. Food is good. Vegetables quality is not that good.
Stale Chicken curry served with microwaved roti. When complained, the owner said its fresh. Lack of Integrity.
The owner was rude and disrespectful when I complained about the poor quality of the brown basmati rice packet I purchased from his store - the first thing he told me was that I didn’t know how to cook. Also, their checkout process is very clumsy and there is no concept of queueing while checking out.The only star I gave is because they have a wide variety of Indian food in the restaurant inside their store.
Small, clean but low on stock on the day I visited
My favoriteIs Rava Dosa sambar w coconut chutney. They serve delicious south Indian dishes.
Owner is rude!! Usually their food is good but only the regular dishes like dosa. I ordered medu vada and the batter it seems was stale. They were quite unapologetic about it. I asked them to instead give masala dosa and even in that they did not include masala.. I would say the owner does not like customers .. other staff is rather humble
Decent place. No way its comparable to places like Patel Brothers, but for a couple of things here and there its fine.
Almost all Indian food is provided. Restaurant is also serving excellent food.
Good place for Indian stuff. Also has small restaurant inside, which is serving excellent food.
I would give this place 0 if I can. We just bought chicken from this place and it had no label for expiry date on it. As soon as I opened it at home, it had an awful smell and a sticky liquid was dripping from it. Clearly it was weeks past usable/edible. I took it back to the owner and asked him to smell it. We were surprised when he said it wasn’t even smelling. First he put a meat that’s gone bad in his freezer and then he won’t own up to his mistake. They are the only Indian store in the local area and that doesn’t mean they can sell spoiled food to people. Their staff was rude to us when we tried to place a phone order and hung up on us. If you are looking to buy groceries I suggest going to parivar and if you need to eat something decent Godavari is a decent restaurant.
Had a great mini restaurant in the store, making the best dosa (south indian dish) in the area. However, they are struggling right now as their cook left.
Everest is a good place to have idly & dosa. I also like their tomato dal. They do not offer rice with curries. So rice has to be ordered separately. But recently seems they have some issue with their cook. I did not enjoy the taste of sambar (which used to authentic Chennai taste) nor their idly.
Best poori, please keep up the good food.
Decent Indian Food Market. $1 Limca is great. They also serve food.
Best in taste but a little slow in service
Great Indian grocery store with a wide selection and variety. I feel like Im back in India.
Its okay store. The food available there is good. No comparison to Apna Bazaar or Patel Brothers as far as rates are concerned.
Its a Indian store and restaurant, my review is mainly for the restaurant part, if you want authentic breakfast items like idly, dosa with perfect south Indian sambar or biriyanis or curries then this is a perfect place. On the other side their chicken 65 or chilly chicken items are not great and needs improvement. Owners and people who get your food ready are super nice and will take care good care.
Not a big fan of Indian food, but store has been around a long time and has a brisk business.
Good grocery, excellent restaurant. Best for takeout, although there are a few tables in the store.
Delicious food and great prices..!!
Groceries are available, but has less fresh veggies. Good restaurant for Indian food.
Pretty much you get everything Indian here. Just make sure you see the expiry of the frozen items
Good place for grocert shopping. Kuteer, the food place is a terrible choice for lunch. But otherwise good!
Indian marketplace with a small eatery! Great south Indian food
Be careful when you buy goat meat from this store, to add more weight to the package he adds more wastage like goat feet as its all packaged meat.Another worst part is their restaurant inside, it is not at all hygiene :(
Extremely poor management. I had to wait one hour for getting my lunch. They had me wait and never responded me properly. The only reason this store is still running because there is no indian store nearby.Watch out for products which crossed expiry dates. One star only for the upma and ground nut chutney. Price of items are high
Overtime the quality of fresh produce has deteriorated and the vegetables do not look fresh at all. apart from that the store has good stock of grocery and frozen items.
Good tiffins especially poori with aloo curry.
I love buy there food from these people
Limited stuffs. Good if need some thing in urgent
Food taste is good...all kinds of Tiffin are available there with non veg variety you can ennoy with shooping goods
Unruly behaviour, Arrogant attitude of Cashier, Poor Management, Pretty Bad experience. It’s a fact and truth that the store has to admit with all the one star reviews (Google reviews) which I personally experienced on 4/1/17. I asked for certain food item whether they carry on their store/cafeteria, I got a rude response “I don’t know” from the college kid without even looking at me. This was repeated once gain when I enquired about an another food item. I yelled at him that this is the not way to treat customers and he should have an eye to eye contact while interacting with the customers and should treat customers right. He replied Anna, you know me very well that’s why I have taken the privilege, how come a known person like you can think in such a way Anna. Anna, You know everything what is available?. How come I know what is available in their cafeteria as their menu is always misleading. He started talking non-sense and irrelevant stuff saying that my kids are always making noise whenever they are in the store, he wasn’t able to tolerate their noise and feeling hot inside his head. Does he mean to say that kid shouldn’t make any noise or he meant to say that Kids shouldn’t come to the store, Does the owner aware of this type of uncivilized ridiculous behavior of his employee., When i reverted back that he will understand when he has kids and this is not the right way to treat customers, he started blabbering don’t go on repeating the same thing again and again and used a big word, I am not your “Slave”. I think he had a wrong perception that he has been treated as a slave because he works in the cash register/grocery store which he wasn’t intended to do as he came here to do Master’s. Nobody forced him to work in the grocery store and have an perception that he has been treated as a Slave, if he has voluntarily joined the store then he should have known customer etiquette in the first place and shouldn’t show his anger towards the customers. I even told him that I am going to report to his Boss, he responded “I don’t care”. Infact right in front of him, I went and reported to the owner who was in the kitchen about the unruly behavior of his employee. He has no rights to talk about kids noise. All because of the poor management, it will be better for the owner and his business, if he thinks twice before hiring the students. As these college kids don’t have any stake on the store, they treat customers in a barbaric manner and have a big attitude problem, they don’t bother whether the store lose the customers/business or not. Nobody has forced them to work here, once they are behind the counter they should treat the customers right & genuinely interact. The only loser is the store owner.Later on the next day evening(Sunday) I tried to reach the owner and got hold of the Manager, he is very polite & genuinely apologized and felt very sorry for the incident. I told him that I am not going to heading towards his store anymore, he requested me to change my decision and promised me that it will never happen again. I was their regular patron for the past one and half years which abruptly ended with this worst experience. As a customer rightly mentioned in the Google reviews “The only reason this store is still running because there is no indian store nearby”., I agree 100% with his statement. There was an another review(Google review) which is point blank “It was the worst possible service I have ever received. The guy there was very rude and had no manners on how to treat customers.I would never recommend this place if you have any self respect”The owner has to retrospect the past events and rectify it before he looses more customers/business.After all, if a person can able to get cheaper groceries & can get good variety of foods by driving an extra mile, why bother at a poorly serviced store?.P.S.According to the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce:• 68% Customers leave because they are upset with the treatment they’ve received (Customer Service)
I love the Biryani and all other foods. Nice place keep it up.
The restaurant (Kuteer) serves delicious food at nominal prices. The quality of food is commendable specially the dosa, sambhar and chutneys.
The restaurant with in this shop is actually kind of canteen where everything is self service. The taste is also not up to mark.
Helpful staff. Nice layout. Great hours.
The price of grocery is ok, some items are costly but good..kitchen is good..
Small sized when compared to Patel Brothers but well stocked and the fresh Indian food is good.Warm south Indian dosas and idlis are good.Puri bhaji is average. Puri is good almost like bhaturas..but the potato curry lacks taste... Bland and misses the point.Lot of items on the menu but lot of them are not available as only limited items are served.
Well stocked grocery store for Indian cuisine. If you are a beginner or a pro at cooking Indian food this place will have everything on your list.
Its an Indian grocery store. They stock most items. They have a small cafe area too where you can order basic Indian food.
Compare to other Indian stores this one is better
Convenient Indian grocery in Delaware but doesnt have a large stock
They used to have a best biryani a couple of years ago but not any more....
This is a small Indian market with a restaurant. They have all the typical staple foods here.
Food is awesome here especially pav bhaji and punugulu. I love this place
Some products, newly renovated, and good service. I would recommend it.
The grocery store has hard to find Indian snacks, ingredients and staples. There is a kitchen attached serving authentic home made Indian food as well.
This is a decent store. I like the restaurant inside.
Very expensive.. selection is pathetic...
Small indian grocery store near to naamans road and a good/cheap restaurant.
One stop shop for Indian Groceries and authentic Indian freshly cooked food.
If you are looking for Indian groceries this is your place. Also, Kuteer, a Food place is also associated with this located inside the store. They have everything from bhajji to Biryani. Well maintained and friendly workers.
The food at the restaurant is not good. Ordered veg biryaani and paneer kadhai and there was no flavour. You can cook better food at home.
Lot of options for Indian food. Feeling good about the membership discount 😊
Nice, clean and fresh products. I liked this place.
Great lil store and awesome take out.
Masala dhosa is really very tasty
Beware Beware. Would not step into this place again. Absolutely disgusting. The restaurant is an absolute joke, most items not available and false pricing. Please take a moment to read my honest review below. I have visited over 50 Indian stores/restaurants within the Delaware, NJ, and PA areas and this was by far the worst experience. I dont normally write reviews, especially negative ones, but my horrible experience recently compelled me to write this review.Grocery store: this would be 2-3 out of 5 stars. Pricing is not great, but not terrible. Noticed Kurkure was priced at 1.49 which I have purchased from many other nearby stores for 0.99. Similarly, cookies were priced higher than most other places. Cleanliness was fair. Vegetable section and the right isle with masala/spices was dirty with freezers making noises and seemed very old. There were small bugs flying in the vegetable section. Floor is not clean.Cashier - not courteous, do not greet and seem to be in a hurry. The customers cannot see any prices on their side, nor is there a screen to see prices, so during checkout, you have to assume that all the prices are accurate. The customer should be able to see prices while each product is being scanned.Restaurant - Absolutely unacceptable. My next email will actually be to the department of health. Firstly, 3 family members after eating there had diarrhea.Filthy restaurant with misleading menu with false prices. The whole restaurant setup is ridiculous. After paying for the order, they want the customer to take the receipt to the restaurant side in order for them to start making food. This is written in a small piece of curled up paper near the restaurant window. Other signs regarding disposal of plates and trash is in huge signs. Instead, they should send orders internally rather than expecting the customer to take the receipt to the restaurant.- non-English people in the restaurant.- cashiers dont know what is available. They keep on having to call the kitchen to ask.- most items on the menu not available on a Sunday. Eg paneer kadai, all fish items, korma curry, chicken tikka masala, etc were not available. Naan / garlic naan not available.- they tried to sell us paratha which is listed on the menu for $1 and they tried to charge $2. When asked about this, the cashier says oh, the size has changed. This is absolutely ridiculous.- pav bhaji was bitter and the toasted bread seemed hard and dry. Bhaji quantity was unacceptable.- matar paneer was absolutely not matar paneer. It was some bad tasting dish with Gravy made of yogurt and really tastes terrible and gave two of us diarrhea.- roti was unacceptable, seemed dry and substandard.- dosas were priced too high. A plain dosa was $6. Sambhar was cold.Bathroom- filthy. Hand soap and more water in it than soap. Dirty floor and dirty sink. All in all, the experience was bad. Will never ever step into this place. This place is a shame to Indian culture and way of business and cleanliness. Such a store makes the Indian community look bad.
Nice store for quick pickups. The only drawback is their stock of vegetables is not so good.
