Absolutely stellar. Cooke’s has been well known among skaters (ice and roller) for years across the Northeast as being the best — and once again, they’ve lived up to their reputation. Caring, knowledgeable, professional, all-around awesome.

You will not get anywhere close to the service las you do at Cooke’s skate supply with the chain hockey/skate/sporting goods stores. The employees here are experts. They are incredible and can customize skates to your needs unlike any store in the area. I travel over an hour to Cooke’s because of the expertise they provide.Mike customized my son’s skate to assist with an issue he was having with his skating form. He worked with us on multiple visits making modifications until his skate was just right for him. Can’t say enough about this store. Lifelong customer here, even an hour away.

They definitely have everything you need! I will say, I am a bit dissatisfied with the pair of skates I ended up with, the Jackson “Elle” boot, per recommendation of the owner who helped me. I used them several times and I was really uncomfortable in them, and they did not allow me to do my normal moves/skating I’m used to. I later found out that they are kind of a beginner boot, which is a shame because I definitely went in there explaining my skill level, which is not beginner. However, I do not compete or take regular lessons, I just skate for my enjoyment (which I think maybe in saying that part, it somehow degraded his idea of my skill level? I don’t know), but I am a DECENT skater. When I stopped lessons, I was in freestyle 5, and later learned more advanced footwork with Mark Cockerell. I am not well connected in the ice world, and am not familiar with what all the skaters these days are wearing so I came into Cooke’s hoping to get help to buy a pair of skates that I would have for the rest of my life, and could be of service if I did take lessons again. I was totally ready to spend up to $1000 but instead I left convinced I only had to spend $300 on these skates that I ended up hating, only using a few times—- they do not do me any service and I feel it was a waste of money and 4 hours of driving to get them. I realize I could’ve done more research before I went, or emailed old coaches to see what they recommended, but hey ya live & ya learn. Maybe if you’re going into buy skates, get a recommendation from another skater with a similar skill level or from a coach. I do think that if you go in there knowing what you’re looking for, you should be able to get it! I will probably try to sell these skates and put whatever I get out of them toward something that actually suits me!

Love this locally owned business! Great selection of all-things-hockey, and the employees are knowledgeable and helpful. Can measure and customize the fit of skates on site. What they dont have theyll order, and they can do custom orders as well (embroidery, etc). A family owned business that proudly supports their local teams and programs.

I could go on for days about the wonderful experience I had at Cookes. They made me feel important while they were working with me even though it was really busy. I told them what I was looking for and they didn’t try to up sell me anything I didn’t need. They had to order the model skate they recommended because other models would be too much for the kind of skating I was doing. When I went back for the last fitting service was still great. It was a great experience and I’d recommend them to anyone.

Got my skates from Cookes for well over a decade and never had a bad experience there. Mike Scott and Paul really care that their customers get the right fit; you can tell its not just about reputation with them. Any little problem, no matter how small, they have a solution. If you want a real pair of skates with real knowledge, I can only recommend Cookes.

I laugh when I read some of the angry reviews here. This is a professional shop, with people who are thoughtful and extremely knowledgeable. You get what you pay for. You want cheap go to ebay or amazon - but youre wasting your money because no amount of time spent trying-on in the store then buying online will make those skates fit properly. If you know what its like to have skates that FIT, then you know the value of Cookes.

Best place to properly fit hockey skates especially if your kids have flat feet causing turned in ankles when skating. Cookes takes the time to fit the skates correctly. And, it doesnt cost any more than what you would buy at Pure Hockey. Well worth the drive. Excellent service. Wouldnt buy skates any other place. NOTE: You have to make an appointment for a fitting.

Always buy my kids hockey skates at Cookes. They take the time to fit you right and pick the best skate for you. I didnt know that I had flat feet until I bought a pair for myself at 45. It takes a while, and you need to make an appointment for a fitting, but its worth it. When I got mine (my 1st visit), by the time they were done, I was willing to pay whatever for whichever skate they picked out for me. As it was, it was one of the least expensive pairs of skates. They never try to over-sell you.

If you want to get into the perfect skates for your feet and get excellent thorough service, then go to Cookes. The other places like Hockey Monkey will have teenagers who pretend that they know what theyre talking about and tell you what you want to hear but you may end up regretting your decision once you get on the ice. The guys at Cookes will take their time to make sure you get the perfect skates. They understand the anatomy of the foot which was great for me with my problem feet. I wish I had heard of Cookes earlier because I was skating with pain for 2 years and tried 3 different pairs of skates and nobody at any of the other stores could help me. I was mostly going off advice that I could find on the internet. When I went to Cookes, they couldve just tried to sell me another pair but instead they told me the pair I was currently using were close and they made multiple adjustments to them. Over 2 visits, they spent a couple hours with me and helped me get my skates perfect. Now I can skate pain free and I love it. They only charged me for the first visit and hardly charged me for the labor in the first place, mostly just charged me for the orthotic parts... Thanks guys! I love Cookes!!!

Dont go here unless you want to be cheated. After wasting 1.5 hours of my time, the clerk said that the only way I could try on skates to see if they would fit would be to purchase them in advance, sight unseen, for $250. Then, if they didnt fit, I would still own them, and they could not be returned -- even though they would have never left the store. Not only that, but he refused to tell me the brand name of what I would be buying unless I first paid him $25.Respectable businesses do not treat their customers this way. If these people really are the best in the business, then ice skating is doomed.

Ive been figure skating for years. As an adult figure skater I started taking lessons in 2007. I got my first intermediate level figure skates on line, the worst purchase I made on the internet. I measured my feet and sent of the measurements along with a diagram I drew of my feet as asked and still the skates were not right. The store did not advise me on the correct pair of boots or blades, nothing but troubles. Living in Southern Vermont I have very few options for purchasing skates here. I found Cookes Skate Supply online and asked other skaters about Cookes. I was happy with the feed back gave them a try. Paul fitted me for my first pair Scott has also been very helpful on my second pair. Cookes is the only place I get my blades sharpened. I have tried many different skate shops for maintenance of my blades and boots and find Cookes to be the best. Checking prices Ive found that Cookes has a fair price for both service and purchases. They are even lower in price then quite a few internet shops.Paul, Scott and Mike care. They welcome questions and even when the shop is filled with patrons are very pleasant and attentive to everyone. It feels like a family not just a store. Ive referred many people to Cookes and each feel the same way. People think I am crazy driving 2 hours to get my skate sharpened yet they do it the best. Cookes stand behind the product making adjustments without the extra fees. The best thing I can say about Cookes is that they care about the quality of their work and their patrons a hard working and caring establishment.
