Wonderful neighborhood experience
For over 50 years Johnson grocery has been an asset to the community, an oasis in a food desert. Bridging the gap and distance between major grocery retailers and similarly sized stores that inhabit other remote areas not in close proximity to corporate grocery stores. Johnsons Grocery provides a vital life line for those in the community that dont have cars or limited access to public transportation. Offering basic staples, dry goods, vegetables, fruits, soft drinks and snacks. Additionally, Mr. Johnson is an elder, leader and positive example of the entrepreneurial spirit in the community. His presence and services have been of great value to those who have limited resources.
Two guys had a revolver duel for the last carton of eggs pretty epic
Clean with a great staff and owner
This place meets the general definition of Hole in the Wall. The outside looks slightly scary, like bullets could fly at any moment. Parking is limited. Getting out of your car after parking comes with a large probably of getting run over. You cant see inside the store as you walk up, so you dont know if its being robbed or not. The inside is in disarray. Make sure not to trip over the trash piled up on the floor. If you are a thirsty alcoholic, you came to the right place. There are plently of types of beer to choose from. Theres also lots of soda and sports drinks. As far as food goes...looks mostly like junk food. Lots of chip bags....probably candy too. I came in for eggs. No such luck. I didnt see milk or bread in there either (although to be fair i wasnt looking). Thought I was helping a local business beat the relentless tyrany of the big name stores. Nope. I gave up and went to Food Lion instead.
Love it great location
