Review №1

Review is for Ideal Flooring in Liberty Township, not Wilmington. This review is very late, but I feel a need to share our experiences, so others do not make the mistake that we did. I originally meant to post this review immediately after the installation of vinyl tile in two upstairs bathrooms but forgot to do it. I am reminded on a near daily basis of the issues. The date of installation was over two years ago but that doesn’t negate the bad experience we had.We originally had a floor installed that we selected in the showroom and thought would look good. Upon completion of the job, we started noticing dirty spots appearing on the surface of the flooring. It was more obvious around where the individual tiles adjoined each other. Upon closer inspection, we noticed adhesive was on the surface and was attracting dirt & dust. Also, many of the pieces did not fit cleanly together and all lines were not straight. When Tom came to the house to measure, I pointed out a noisy floorboard. I asked if it could be secured to the joists with screws before the new floor was installed. This was not done though I asked it to be. We were not told that it was not done. I was not told until I asked about it because I noticed that it was still noisy. While this job was being completed, adhesive from the installers shoe ended up on the carpet in the upstairs hallway. I did not point this out because I knew that we were going to be getting new carpet. We worked on it and removed most of it. The caulking that was done around the bathtubs and baseboards was all done haphazardly as well. After the poor installation, I called Tom and told him about the issues. He came out to look at the problems and he suggested a different product that he said was better suited to the bathrooms and would look nicer. We went to the showroom & took some samples. We settled on a product and, to Toms credit, he said that the new product would be installed gratis. I guess that he did this as a show of good faith and as an admission that the first job was not up to standards and should be made right. If the second product was known to be better, I would have appreciated knowing that from the outset. I also made it a point to let Tom know that the noisy floorboard was not taken care of and when the new floor was put in, I again asked if a screw or screws could be put into the joist. Tom noted that on the order form.I was glad that Tom offered to take care of the problems and not charge us. I would have been even happier if things were made better. The same installer came to put in the different floor, so I wasn’t optimistic. During the job I noticed that the new floor was being installed over the old. I didn’t think much about it until we started noticing water coming from the bottom of the toilet. I drained the toilet and turned off the water. The same installer came out to “fix” the problem. After it was “fixed,” we again noted water coming up between the pieces of flooring. Again, the same installer came out and, again, water was still coming out of the bottom of the toilet. I posited that what I thought was happening was that because the flooring was put on top of the other flooring, the wax ring was not forming an adequate seal. I was told that I would need to call a plumber to fix the issue. Since I thought I knew what the problem was, I took the toilet up and installed a thicker wax ring and, voilà – problem solved. This installation had some of the same issues as the original installation: poorly done caulking around bathtubs and baseboards and, in a few areas, caulking that was not done at all, and pieces of floor that did not neatly adjoin adjacent pieces.Tom also runs a driving school that both of my daughters received their driver’s education from. That service was excellent, but I can’t say the same about the flooring business. In the end, we are going to need to have this all done again at some point. Very disappointing.

Very professional service. Ideal flooring installed all of our flooring and tile throughout the store in 2015. Everything is holding up magnificently. I did have one small issue after year one and they quickly came out and resolved the problem. I would highly recommend Tom and his associates.
