Love the store layout and the service. Dont go in there looking for plus sizes or big mens size. Found nothing over size large in anything other than shoes

I had an issue with my Hobie kayak with the Mirage pedal drive. I called Great Outdoor and the woman who answered told me Cameron was most familiar with the Hobie equipment. I brought the Mirage drive to the store expecting to leave the drive there and having to pay a bunch of money. Cameron looked at the drive and identified the problem. He answered all my questions and told me the part would have to be ordered. He offered to let me take home a loaner drive to use until the part came in. He went into the back and came out with a drive and said he was going to remove the part I needed and install it in my drive. After he installed it and made a few adjustments and I was on my way. I live about 50 miles from the store so I didnt have to drive back up to pick it up and the price was very reasonable. Cameron was very knowledgeable, pleasant and professional.

This is the best outdoors shop in Wilmington! Love the wood floors, the name-brand selections and the staff. Youre not gonna find walmart quality selections here, its all the fine quality outdoor equipment. They even carry locally made products! The staff are experienced outdoors people who want to give you the best value for your money. My go to store to prepare for my long backpacking trips. Got a Big Agnes tent today that Ive been wishing for for years to replace my old heavy tent. And it was on sale! Woo!!

Ive been going here for 10 years, and theyve always taken great care of me. This is a good place to get high quality outdoor gear that is a step up from the stuff you get in chain sporting goods stores. Process are always reasonable, and they have occasional clearance sales where you can get some really good bargains.

Wonderful company. I traveled 2 hrs just because they were the only ones close enough that had the kayak I wanted in person. Extremely helpful and friendly. Nice selection of gear for all kinds of outdoor stuff. Would suggest maybe some other rod, reels, and baits outside of fly-fishing. But still a company worth going to for outdoor needs.

Great store, a little pricey but has some really neat stuff! From hunting, boating, fishing, shooting, to clothing. They have it all! They have great sales at the beginning of a new season. At the start of spring I bought a pair of sandals for 15$bucks, this pair of sandals originally cost 120$! Very cool store!

For an old guy, I like to spend a good amount of time outdoors. I also like to support local, smaller businesses. Great Outdoor Provision not only has the tools I need for my outdoor endeavors (Im an avid bird watcher, amongst other titles), they are also a small, local business I am proud to support. It helps that their apparel and equipment are high quality. Five stars.

I dont normally write reviews, but this time I just had to! I just had an amazing experience at the Great Outdoor Provision Co. in Wilmington, NC. I am preparing for a trip and purchased a couple pairs of The North Face (quick drying) pants that I love. One pair had to be transferred from another store to get my size and that just took a couple of days. When I went back to the store to pick them up neither the salesperson nor I checked to see that the security device had been removed. (For whatever reason, it had not alarmed when I exited the store.) To my surprise as I was packing I discovered the device and went back to the store to have it removed. I explained to the salesperson that I needed a new eye glass retainer and as compensation for my extra trip to the store, I would appreciate that as a token gift. He said he was sure he could take care of that. He was very gracious and sincerely apologized for my troubles and inconvenience. As he was packaging my pants he handed me a $20 gift card, thanking me for my patronage and again apologizing for the inconvenience!Now - that is customer service! I love the merchandise this store offers and now I especially appreciate the customer service!

I think I have bought the worst pair of expensive shoes ever! I know its too late to return them, but I wanted to spare anyone who might be thinking about purchasing these awful shoes. They are Keen causal loafers, all leather, very nicely made, but so uncomfortable! The person working there was useless, after less than 3 minutes of her time, she basically walked off and left me, never once asking me what I thought of the shoes after walking around and around the store trying to decide if I wanted them. I told her I was looking for some good walking shoes that I could walk in everyday with my wife. We walk about a mile every morning! I cant even wear these shoes going to the grocery store, they hurt my feet! Im basically using them as sleepers! I should have bought another pair of Merrells, but we just dont have many options for them here in Wilmington, NC. I have never tried this brand, and after this experience I never will! These were not cheap shoes, they were 80.00! I will continue to purchase Merrills from their website. They have an excellent return policy, but Ive never had to return any shoes because they are great!

Bought a pair of flip flops that actually fit my size 13 foot. most comfortable shoes I have ever had. where them around the house on a daily basis. great selection of footware

These folks are the best. If you need camping, kayaking, or cold weather gear advice they are the shop to go to. This is because the folks that work here have the real world experience with the products they are selling.

Although I have never made a single purchase from this store I have to say it is one of the best all around outdoor stores I have been in. My Father and I were recently getting some ideas on what we wanted in a kayak. Well GOPC had a plenty for us to look at as well as an abundance of other high quality outdoor items. Unfortunately I do not remember his name but an older gentleman that worked there was so very helpful when answering our questions and pointing us to the right people in the industry to help us get started. It was certainly an A+ experience for us and I will definitely be going back...

Great outdoor store if you want the small business feel but the big store brands! If you want Patagonia or north face stuff, this is the place! Climbing stuff, kayaking, and even dog stuff. The best part is they have plenty of info on local activities in case youre new to the area.

Good selection of quality gear but they are over priced on a lot of stuff. I had cash in the bank account to buy a Nucanoe Frontier 12 and when asked about doing a demo the availability to do one I was told I could buy it and if I wasnt happy return it, as long as I didnt use it. If Im going to spend $1800-2400 on a kayak it wont be at this store. But they do have a good selection as Ive stated before.

They carry top of the line sports equipment. They also have top of the line prices.

I had an awesome experience here purchasing my kayak. The staff was very friendly and helped me through the entire process. They even helped me load it on my car! They have everything outdoor related that you could ask for. If youre an avid adventurist I cant recommend this place more!

I went in there yesterday with my fiancee to check out the fishing kayaks. They clearly thought we were there to shoplift or something based on the looks they were giving us. Profiled the sh** out of us and made us super uncomfortable.
