Island Appliance came to my home for the second time in 4 months. Each time the service was impeccable. This past service the service representative was able to fix the problem under warrantee. What a treat to have a competent provider looking out for their customers. I recently purchased a used dryer from Island Appliance- the salesman was very helpful. We looked at several and finally decided on one based on his recommendation. We brought it home and it worked great for a short while. All of a sudden it wouldn’t turn on at all. I called this morning to see if it was under warranty, they told me a manager would call me back. I received a phone call within an hour from someone they sent out to take a look at it for me. He arrived 15 min later, he not only replaced the fuse that wasn’t working, he then fixed the squeaking noise it was making. He was such a nice man and he took pride in fixing it right for us. I am very thankful that Island Appliance is an honorable company and they truly stand behind their products. They didn’t charge anything and I was a bit over the 30 day warranty. They are awesome!!!
Ordered a range back in February and after waiting three months was told it would be July or later for it to come in. Gave up, got a refund(which Im still waiting on) and called Lowes. New range looks great.
These guys were the best. After a nine month nightmare navigating A1 Appliance in Calabash and Bosch Customer Service in efforts to repair a burned out circuit board in a new dishwasher, I insisted they direct me to another service provider. They were extremely responsive, knowledgeable, professional and communicative. I recommend them all day long.
Lousy company to deal with. Call them for issues you have with appliances you bought from them, their phone system refers you to a different company in leland that is named almost the same. When you have them come out for warranty service, they say everything is working fine, try a different soap. Then you call back, oh you are out of warranty ... we can fix your almost new washer for $250! Conveniently, they don’t have any records of service during warranty so they are washed of any duty or obligation to make sure their products are working property. Lousy. We ended picking up our parts and snapping them into place to avoid paying another $90 service call fee.I am expecting a response like this, but please note that I called this company and their phone system is connected, and the business name is almost identical.“Island Appliance is a retail appliance store on Carolina Beach Rd in Wilmington, NC and does not have a service department. Island Appliance Repair is a completely separate and unrelated company.”They are not unrelated. Their phone system is connected to the other. They were previously the same company until they devised a scam like this to separate the two.
My technician, Anthony, called me about 30 minutes before he was expected to arrive at my house. He was extremely knowledgeable and shared some good tips with me to ensure longevity in my Whirlpool front loader washing machine. In addition.he was extremely courteous in following the rules to prevent spreading COVID in my house. Thank you Anthony!!

Our dishwasher died and we went searching for a new dishwasher. I always try to support local business before the big box stores so this was our 1st stop around town.I had done extensive research and settled on a Bosch brand washer. We stepped into this establishment and after a awhile, someone finally approached us. I told him I was interested in a Bosch dishwasher. He said they dont have any floor models (not many places do), why would I want a Bosch, kitchen-aid has the same features. I stated I had done research and I like all the features and reviews of the Bosch. He shrugged and walked away, not wanting to even show us a catalog/prices of Bosch washers they could sell us or even attempt to sell the aforementioned kitchen-aid.In the end, Lowes got our money after we went around the rest of town looking at stock and pricing. So much for investing in local.Had a second experience calling about a repair on our refrigerator - lady on the phone was abrupt and rude. Overall not a good experience.

This morning I read some reviews here as I have been buying appliances from Island Appliance since 2016 and have had a few issues with a couple of them which faulted back on the manufacturer warranty. I have thought about what to write here. My first thought was I am a little surprised at the replies from Island Appliances to customers comments. It comes off a a little snippy. I understand you are not Island Appliance Repairs but I am wondering who installs the appliances when they are purchased? Do you have your own crew? I chose to buy from Island Appliances to support local and not the big box store but also “thought” they would have better quality. Well my assumption was wrong..it’s the same junk. Recently I bought a dishwasher and it pretty much did not work from day one. I had to go through the manufacturer under the warranty and as it turns out Island Appliance Repairs came out to look at it and said there are several parts not working and he has seen this before. He stated that the manufacturer knows about these issues but pushes appliance stores to sell them anyway. It’s going to take 4 weeks to get one part in because it’s on backorder.....not too surprised there.It’s all under warranty this time and the parts are guaranteed for a year from installation but if they have to come out again I have to pay the service fee. This is exactly what happened to my refrigerator two years ago. The lifetime LED lights stopped working. Apparently it wasn’t the lights it was the part that turns them on. It broke a second time within a year of the first repair and I had to pay over $200 for service while the part was still under warranty. So far the lights are still working so hopefully they reengineered that part. If I had to pay $200 every year for new fridge lights that would just be outrageous. I will be giving both of these appliances a one star.I can’t blame Island Appliances for the manufacturing of the appliances but I would have paid more for better quality and I think they should be knowledgable enough to see the history and promote better quality products. I have my own business and I don’t sell poor quality priced things that I know are going to break. It makes a company look bad and fixing them is more hassle. I tell customers to purchase it online for cheap and you will get cheap. I personally will do a lot more research before I buy another appliance but one review here did that and got a very negative response which surprises me.The sales person I have had with all of my purchases has been very nice and professional and I am assuming he gets his training from his management as well as manufacturer reps. It’s just a shame they push these items to sell when they know they are lemons.While these items are under warranty my properties are rental properties so I have had to let numerous renters know they have to wash the dishes by hand while on their vacation. It’s a lot of managing of these “new” appliances getting repairs and extremely disappointing.

Horrible, gave them the easiest sale ever on a Fisher-Paykel Dishdrawer which is $1300. Could have purchased from Lowes for $300 cheaper but I like to buy local and wanted a professional install. I got a hack job that they refused to rectify and I ended up having to complete the install myself. 2001 home on a slab - no issues other than the installer was lazy and not very smart. I asked for another installer and they blew me off. LAZY LOSERS!!!
Shane kept us informed of his arrival time and was very courteous and respectful while here. He needed a part and picked it up on his way home to install it. He again kept us informed via phone. He was very thorough and explained everything about the issues we had with 2 new appliances. He really understands customer satisfaction.

Matthew the technician from Island appliance came to repair the washer which was improperly repaired by a previous company named Appliance Service company who have the most inexperienced technician. But, Island appliance has very professional and experienced techs and excellent customer service and Matthew is very patient and an experienced technician. I am very grateful for Matthews kindness and professionalism. Island Appliance is an outstanding company!
Everyone was incredibly polite and helpful. I received appointment confirmation phone calls and emails. Jeff, who is the technician who came out was on time and provided great service. He was very knowledgeable. My experience was flawless.
Excellent sales staff- always give great advice and help with selections you can trust. They only carry products they believe in. The delivery service always professional and on time. Everyone is very helpful from beginning to service calls. Usually shop online- except for appliances and its because of these guys.
We ordered a washer and dryer 2.5 weeks early so that we could have them delivered on the date of our choosing. We were promised delivery on 7/11 and our sales sheet stated this fact. We made arrangements to be home on 7/11 and never heard anything. We called and were told that we cancelled the delivery. Then after being on hold for quite some time, we were told that the delivery order was never put in the system. How is this possible considering the sales sheet says DELIVER 7/11/17? We were told that they could not deliver the appliances until 2 days later. This means more missed work for us. Today we got a call stating that the appliances would be delivered between 11 am and 1 pm. 1 pm came and went and no one showed up. They did finally show up after their scheduled delivery window. This company has no respect for their customers time and they do not deliver on the promises that they make.
Lori was great in helping us choose a new microwave. We will definitely be going back for all our appliance needs.
BEWARE! Ask questions! They came out to check out my stove and refrigerator on the same day. I told the guy that there was nothing wrong with the refrigerator because I figured it out. He opened the refrigerator, closed it and went to the stove which needed something minor. I get a $95 charge from my rental company because Island Appliance charge a separate service charge for EACH item! So even though I told the guy there was nothing wrong with the fridge, he literally did nothing to it I got charged for it. Never again. Look around for someone fair! I’ll ask questions next time BEFORE they come out to see if they charge a separate service call per item on the same visit.
We found that our dishwasher needed to be replaced just days before we were expecting a house full of guests. We went to a big box store and were told that it may be a week or two before we could get a dishwasher installed. We then went to Island Appliances and we were able to buy a higher quality dishwasher at a lower price and get it installed before our guests arrived. Thank you Island Appliance.
Attention Wilmington! Forget the big box stores and visit Island Appliance before making your next home appliance purchase. Our microwave died 2 nights ago and today a new one was delivered and installed as promised during the time period promised. When you want someone who understand customer service and can deliver a quality product, call Mike at Island Appliance.

SO Ive bought all my appliances here for 20 Yrs & am now Broken hearted (Silly Me). Got new WHIRLPOOL STOVE for $$$ & IT did NOT WORK. So: they sent a replacement for that stove: a Different Model than I Paid for & the new one wont even Boil Water on any burner.

I had a problem with my refrigerator and I called Island Appliance for help. They came out and within 10 minutes they had diagnosed the problem. They said it would be a week for the part to arrive. It actually got in earlier so they returned and had my part installed in less than 15 minutes.Thank you so much!!!

Built a house and bought all appliances from them. After a month of use, the microwave fan does not work and gives off an odor. The dishwasher will not drain during a cycle, then have to run a separate drain cycle and now leaks. I called to report the problem and now all the sudden they have no record of the conversation, even after it was shown to them on my phone a 3 minute conversation. Now they refuse to help with the problem because we are upset. The lady in the office couldnt take her eyes off her computer and look my wife in the eye. She says we did not buy from them, we bought from Whirlpool and Island Appliance refuses to help us. What a sad representative of Whirlpool products. I have a call into a CS manager with Whirlpool to discuss the lack of customer service from Island Appliance. I didnt want to buy from them anyway, because I had heard other bad stories about them, but I let my builder talk me into it.

I purchased a washer and dryer for my new home in Wilmington. I was very pleased with their selection, prices, service and delivery. So much so that I recommended them to my daughter who purchased a new dryer from them. My only issue is that there was to be a $100 rebate on my purchase. The sales associate said they prefer to fill out and send in the paperwork for this rebate themselves so it is done correctly. I contacted them about 6 months later to let them know I had never received it. He originally said it would take 3 to 4 months to come. After contacting the company he claimed they said they had sent a card requesting additional info. The company did not send me anything. And the sales associate said that the promotion had ended but that he would put in for it when they had a new promotion. Now another 6 months have gone by and I have received nothing and heard nothing. Lesson learned - do the paperwork for rebates yourself! Never had a problem with appliance rebates thru Home Depot or Lowes doing the paperwork myself. Who knows what happened to the $100. Just read the response from owner. This is absolutely not true! Was not quoted for 2 sets and there was to be a &100 rebate for the set purchased and the sales associate said he preferred to put the paperwork in himself so it would be done correctly. When I called about this he confirmed he did so.

Purchased Maytag Bravos washing machine 2.5 years ago from Lowes, started making a loud screeching noise during the agitation cycle. We are a couple with no kids. Logged onto the Maytag website and found their recommended local repair center was Island Appliance. Scheduled a service call ($75), technician said it needed a new motor which was out of warranty, BUT, they worked it out where they would replace the part for free and I would have to pay labor. So that bill ended up being apprx $275. Apprx 45 days later the same issue, BUT WORSE. Called Island Appliance and they said their repair warranty was 30 days, that they would come back out but there would be a $75 service call fee, if it was the part issue again then it would be under warranty but the labor fees would be charged again. I emailed Maytag and they said that most of their repair centers had the same warranty and nothing they could or would do. So it appears a new washer for us, very disappointed in the quality of this product and its repair center. I understand mechanical issues occur and that there are certain things out of the control of the repair center. However, for the same issue to occur in a relatively short time frame (although beyond the 30 days) I would think a company concerned with customer and being paid very fairly for their labor costs should consider certain issues on a case by case basis.

We recently built a new home and the builder chose to purchase our appliances from Island Appliance on Carolina Beach Rd. We have lived in our home for less than 4 months and 3 of the 4 kitchen appliances purchased from Island Appliance have broken: an LG microwave, LG gas range and refrigerator. The most recent inoperable appliance is the gas range which exploded in my face Thanksgiving morning. We immediately disconnected the gas line and called Island Appliance to report the incident, requesting a return call the following morning, to no avail. After I was stonewalled and requested numerous callbacks, I drove to meet with someone at Island Appliance in person. Each time I had spoken to an employee at Island Appliance, I was redirected to the manufacturer or the service company. I met with owner, Carlene Swartz, who ultimately continued to redirect me to LG or a serviceman. After she stated that she would work on it and contact me later in the day, (11/28/16) I waited for her call - once again, NO returned call. I called her and was told that she had no information for me. I again called the owner today (11/29/16) at 3:45, after not receiving her promised call. She at that time said Im sure LG will call but I will not help you and hung up. She, Carlene Swartz, has refused to provide a remedy for an extremely dangerous situation. As we have researched further into this matter we have learned many other disturbing facts about Island Appliance. We will be pursuing this further as Island Appliance refuses any responsibility for potentially deadly situation.
