Amazing independent book shop. Zero gimmicks or trendy coffee to pull you in. Simply wall and walls of great books and staff who have actually read them. Definitely somewhere I intend to visit any and every time I am in Witchita.

So I am a little biased. I love books and education And libraries and some good source texts. I have been to hundreds of bookstores now and I’ve got to say this bookstore makes my top 100 list. It’s an incredibly well organized, well run and cozy feeling place that welcomes anyone and every one of any reading level. I hope you can check this place out while you are in town. Paper copies will never die no matter how much technology snd digital content becomes available. You juts can’t beat the smell and touch of a good book.

I have always loved eighth day books; i have some very pleasant memories with family and friends there. during my recent visit, i was incredibly disappointed with the lack of masks and safety precautions taken, both from the customers and the employees. i would presume a bookstore would want to present themselves as well-read, knowledgable, and open-minded, so the irony of a bookstore not taking precautions during a very serious and dangerous pandemic is incredibly frightening. i think this is a lovely book store, however in the name of safety, go somewhere else!

One of the best book stores I have ever been in. A local treasure that few know exist. Its like walking into the wardrobe. C.K. Chesterton, C. S. Lewis, and Tolkien up front, a room of east and west Christindom, theology and philosophy upstairs.

We didnt find what we came there to buy but found about $40 worth of really cool books down in their kids area! Awesome! Unique and fun! This is an interesting book store!

Great, quaint little bookstore in an old house. The employees are always friendly and helpful. The store has a unique atmosphere that bibliophiles will appreciate, and a large selection of religious and philosophical works. In addition, the Eighth Day Institute puts on several events that draw an eclectic mix of people for learning, fellowship, and serious discussions.

Lots of variety and well organized. Very nice atmosphere. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful when I had questions and needed assistance.

Far and away the best book store in Wichita, KS and one of my favorite book stores I have ever been to.

This is perhaps the most impressive bookstore Ive come across in my many travels. Its ornate, neat, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Any seeker of true knowledge will be well rewarded with a visit to this gem of a store!

Its my favorite little bookstore I think Ive ever been to. Its never very busy, the people working are always very sweet, and the layout of the store itself is very cool. It must be a Catholic/Anglican-run place judging by the art and different book sections. They still have a plethora of secular books, though.

Stellar bookstore. Very fun layout. Not your typical reads, but they have some real gems here. Especially relating to C.S. Lewis and Eastern Orthodox Christianity.

Fantastic store. So many different things to check out. I spent more than an hour just gawking at everything in there. Not only is the book selection huge, but it is so diverse and incredible. Not to mention the numerous icons available--they are all beautiful. Couldnt help but leave the store with one. Great staff running the store as well; very helpful and kind. Would recommend to anyone!

Great local book shop that I will support when I can. They have turned an old two story house into a really cool book shop. They have a ton of books and can order any book they dont have in stock. They have all category of books, but I noticed they have a very large religion section and a rather small fiction section.

This store is so beautiful. The staff are awesome. The atmosphere is incredible, just the way a good new and used bookstore should feel. Its built into a house, and its accentuated with nice chairs, seating areas, and a good selection of fiction, non-fiction, religious, and so much more material. Take your kids and family on your way to getting some ice cream or something! The feeling and vibe hit the spot. A fun place.

Interesting, rare, and beautiful religious book and icon finds.

Friendly staff. Dont let location fool you. This bookstore, tucked into every nook and cranny of an old house, has character. Has something for everyone. Extremely strong on Christian history and theology. I was astounded at the Patristics section. Separate division for Eastern Orthodox works. The church history takes up a room of its own. History is smaller in general but quality of works more than compensates for that. Poetry and literature sections are expansive too. I wish Id known about this store sooner. Definitely a hidden gem.

Fun little book shop with a ton of new and used books. We stopped on our way through on our way home to Minnesota. You can buy coffee mugs here too which go well with book reading!

Eight day books is tucked on a cozy spot on Douglas, and is a hidden treasure.I was pleasantly surprised at the wide selection there. Its also local, which is always good. Id recommend checking them out.

Every time we come to Wichita we go here. There is an impressive collection of philosophical and religious critiques and texts, a corner dedicated to Tolkien and the other Inklings, and plenty of seating to sit down with a book. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Just an awesome place!

Lovely bookstore! We could have so.e t all day there. Lots of books and crannies to sit in the sunshine and have a good read. It is an old house with 2 stories and an eclectic mix of mostly religious books. They have a mens and womens reading group that they host weekly.

First of all, this is not your typical Christian bookstore predominantly focusing on the latest Christian bestsellers and geared to casual readers. This bookstore focuses on a wide variety of what might be broadly called academic-level writings in fields such as theology, liturgical history, philosophy, and a host of others. Its 25,000+ volumes are drawn from major publishers all over the world. Most are in English, although a reasonable number of works in Latin, German, and so forth are also present. Not everything youll find will be books, of course. But, even the so-called gift items differ from the typical figurines you see at other religious bookstores. High quality icons, many kinds of crosses and crucifixes, and oversize coffee table books abound. This is certainly the finest theological bookstore I have happened across in more than 30 years of work in higher education. One question that seems to always come up is why is it in Wichita, Kansas (rather than near one of the major seminaries or theological graduate programs in the country)? The answer, it would seem, is simply that Wichita is where the owners lived when they decided to create such a bookstore. A significant amount of their business is done through the internet, which also explains why location is not as essential as it might have been twenty or thirty years ago.

This is the most awesome bookstore I have ever been to. Warren Farha is a solid proprietor who knows his stuff. Ask him anything about any book and he either knows the answer or knows who does.

I really like this book store. They have a large selection of religious literature. I mean, they have other books as well, that is just what stuck out to me. I felt very at home here.

A quaint bookstore that is worth the stop.

This bookstore is for a certain religion, mostly, not a store where there are many other types of books/authors. They took me upstairs, telling me they might have something in the used books upstairs. I did settle on a couple of books in that section, but when I went to pay I was charged new book prices. When I asked about it the cashier insisted that they were new books. I wont ever go back.
