Stopped by Wardle Feed and Pet Supply today and Steven answered some questions for me and gave fantastic customer service. I really like the Wild Delight Deck, Porch and Patio bird feed and am excited to try Excello Brand Wild Nut Frenzy Bird Food. They carry several brands and different items for both wild and domesticated birds. They also carry food for cats, chickens, dogs, and have bee making supplies as well as local honey.Wardle”s also carries a verity of dog food brands including Manna Pro, Diamond, Blue Wilderness, Taste of the Wild, Antler dog chews, and more. I like to support local whenever I can.
Good prices and good service! I enjoyed being able to wander their animal pens and see all the livestock they have available, it was really fun for the kids! We got 2 leghorn chicks in the summer from here and they are doing quite well, fully grown and healthy and pretty! They have a ton of supplies here and we always enjoy coming to the store!
Honestly the best customer service Ive received in my life. They helped me find everything I needed, and I was clueless before I walked in.They assisted me to my car.Really fantastic people here.
The staff is always helpful and quick to check you out. They carry everything to your car. Purchased 4 pullets last year and they were in excellent condition and have been great egg layers for us. If I need anything for the hens I head off to Wardle Feed. Thank you for your help
Great price and product breadth of all products for animal care and feed. We’ve purchased all our chicks and food from there, and the staff is great. Happy to support this local business
Great place no mask no problem this IS USA NOT CHINA WE ARE FREE will return
I Love this store!!!! It is the only place to go for hens & chicks! The people are the best ever in the world. So kind & friendly, even the ladies are super strong&healthy . I am Glade I can go to a place that feels great to be there, & get such great deals on everything. Being a single mom, I am glade I can go to place I can afford & get smart good advice about so many animals & more. I am glade the owner is smart & knows about the largest social experiment in the world, sadly so many are weak minded and brain washed by the media, like this poor ladys comment, below mine.. Its a pathetic world when people are so easy to control with false media that is paid by authorities to brain wash them. With fear & IGNORANCE, The surgeon general said, please people, stop buying masks, it does not prevent anything, QUOTE YOUR U.S. SURGEON GOVERNMENT GENERAL.
We bought a house and inherited four chickens with the purchase! Wardle has provided us with excellent service and products each and every time we’ve went in. They are more than willing to answer any and all questions you have in order to take care of your animals. Their prices are absolutely comparable to any other place and you get to support a local business as well!
This is a wonderful place. It makes you feel like Wheat Ridge is a small town again - as if the 3.5 million people on the Front Range almost disappear. The staff is always friendly and efficient. Pay no attention to the wretched review about the employee not wearing a mask while loading heavy bags for a customer. That snitch is like a STASI (you know the East German Communists).
Friendly, knowledgeable staff bring big bags of feed right to your car so you dont have to lug it. Their birds are healthy and well cared for. Their prices are decent and its just amazing to get such good service in the middle of town.
Staff extremely helpful and friendly and willing to work with you! We were able to get 5 chicks to add to our flock when everywhere else was sold out already. I also like the mom and pop shop atmosphere. And their products are a good price.
Love Wardle Feed! We purchase our pet bunnys hay from them rather than the chain pet stores for four reasons - #greatcustomerservice, #shoplocal, better bulk pricing and the hay is available in a hay bail not wrapped in plastic!
Employees and guests don’t wear masks. I was told “the owners don’t really believe in that”. The store is hard to find anything in and no one would help.
Tried calling several times, rarely get through. When I do, I am told my product is in stock and I swing on down to find out.... nope it sure wasnt in stock. This has transpired multiple times and as they say fool me twice shame on me. I will shop anywhere else going forward.
Well, like most said. Wonderful staff!Sad, sick pullets. Cooped up in hoards, no ventilation, nasty looking. We decided to rescue a porcelain leghorn. The healthiest looking one 3 days later we saw vent problems, 200.00 vet bill.Waddles is a chicken mill.DO NOT BUY birds from here.
Love this place. Very knowledge and friendly staff. Thank you so much!
Been coming here for years. Sometimes the birds are a bit sickly. Be sure to only buy The chicks that are active and alert, not sleepy and dopey. The selection of organic and gmo free grain has grown significantly, but service is not what it used to be. Im still glad this place is still around in the heart of wheat ridge.
Its sorta with the website by any chance can you add more pictures of the products.
3 weeks ago bought a layer, it is now dead along with my other chickens, foul mites...they may have not come with the new chicken. My other chickens were also purchased from there last year. I’m just putting this here just in case. Mites could have come from any bird flying into coup area. Could have been mites in the batch though they were just arrived that day and there were a lot of birds and they were flying out the door. I will be waiting to get birds until I finish treatment and cleaning and hope I can get more this year, but a sad weekend.
I really like this place. Friendly very helpful staff, I come here for dog food. Prices are quite reasonable and they carry only high quality dog foods. Glad these folks are here.
Excellence services. We got 30 chicks from them last spring n all of them are doing great. We are getting plenty of eggs from them as well. Whenever something isnt right with one of my hen. I would stop by n ask for help n they give me great advices. I would recommend to pay them a visit to see all the chicks they have right now. Im very happy to live so close to Wardle. Thanks again for all your help n your knowledge. Keep up the good work.
I just stopped in for sunflower seeds for my squirrels and had the most pleasant and best experience. Gregory was awesome. He was polite and very helpful. I will definitely be back. Thank you so much I would give 10 stars if I could. Great store.
Wish I could give them ZERO stars to match the ZERO eggs we have gotten from the 6 heritage brand chickens they sold us.They claimed the chickens were of egg laying age (less than a year old) and had been producing eggs for a month or so. We have gotten ZERO eggs in over two months. We have they pastured on our farm (free range) and give them organic feed from Nebraska (no soy, no corn). We are frustrated when we called them and disgusted with them when they offered NO HELP whatsoever. They would not take thm back.
Our first time there... And my kids love it, well just because we bought them 12 chicks! Small and very cute. The staff is very helpful and knowledge not to mention very nice. Have a wide range of everything you need for your barn animals. We will be back.
Do you guys have baby ducks in stock at the moment?? I’m interested in buying some!
You really should try Wardles. They have a great stock selection and fair pricing and always anxious to help!. Nice community feed store, homey feel like when I was a kid.
I bought 14 pullets of different varieties this spring. I was glad that they all grew into healthy egg laying hens. I have been raising chickens sense I grew up in Arvada. I have bought from different places in Colorado, mail ordered, and hatched our own. Going to Wardle is the way I will go in the future.I also love the feed selection. I make my own feed to supplement pellets. Sense I started doing this my egg production doubled. Its a mix of grains from whole corn to fatty seeds. The selection is amazing! The staff is always willing to help find what I need, and throw the many bags of feed in my truck!! Support your local feed store!
This is where we get our baby chicks. Great selection of breeds and the staff is friendly. Their backyard chicken class is worth the money for sure if you’re thinking about a small backyard flock. And their feed prices are the best around!!
Update 9/20/16:The store management is taking our issue much more seriously than the employees we dealt with. The breeder & their vet visited us today at our house to see our flock. To their credit, theyre providing medicine and trying to make this right. While this whole thing has been frustrating, I appreciate the effort and am bumping up my review to 3 stars while we work on this.Original post:DO NOT BUY BIRDS HERE. We purchased two pullets to expand our backyard flock. It should have been a warning sign when the salesperson didnt know the breeds of the birds. After we got the pullets home we noticed one was sneezing. The store did refund our purchase but dismissed the birds illness as allergies to my wife. It was not allergies- the rest of the chickens in my flock are all now sick, theyve all stopped laying and have nasal discharge. Im hoping I can save them with antibiotics, but may have to cull them.Im incredibly disappointed in the lack of seriousness with which the staff treated this issue. These people should not be selling birds.
I love this place. They always greet me as soon as I pull up and ask me what I’m looking for. Then one of the dudes brings it to my truck for me. Excellent service and great selection!
I can’t say enough about the staff at Wardle! They’ve been so helpful and friendly every time I’ve been there. I bought their brooder kit and 6 chicks of all different species and they are thriving. They made my first experience raising chickens a great one.
Great service and selection. Service Folks and service outstanding . Never go anywhere else!
Hands down the best place to buy white millet for backyard bird feeders and the price is half of what you would spend at the cheapest places online. I love this place so much knowledge is shared on almost everything when I am here I can ask any question and they will try to answer it. No clue whatsoever why anyone would rate this as a one star...overall its a great place to get stuff. Several years ago I had a large critter problem and these folks helped me solve that right away with the proper trap cages and bait and everything they offered advice wise worked like a charm. Everything from weed control to helping me set up a tree ..so many minds here willing to share their info, again its a shame I am reading guppy hipsters trash talk the awesome Feed and Supply store which incidentally that in itself is outrageous considering the fact that knocking one of the only independently owned and operated old long time established institutions that Wardle is ....these haters are only aiming to leave themselves at the mercy of NO Service no local go to professional ....do Wardle a favor and make sure you five star this place if you have a heart. Be Smart...smarter than the negative reviews.
Helpful, knowledgeable employees and quality products.
I reached out by email regarding the cost of using the certified scale on a passenger vehicle and they got back to me immediately! They are also the lowest price I found, at $10!
Always friendly and helpful. We bought our chicks there last spring, they are laying well and all 8 were female. They also sold and delivered a second hand coop. The driver was very helpful and didnt bat an eye at our asking to lift it up over our short fence and across our yard. In a time when even feed stores have gone big box it is nice to have a place that carrys your feed to your car!
Family owned and every employee Ive spoken to has been friendly and knowledgable. Prices are competitive with the larger feed & supply store. Have everything I need for my chickens, even chicks.
We had lost a few of our chickens when our dog got into the coop, and we didnt want to start with chicks again, so I was glad to find a place that sells grown chickens. I bought 4. However, within a couple days of taking them home, I noticed that two of them (the Buff Orpingtons) were sick. They had rattly breathing, mucus coming out of their beaks, and each had one swollen eye. I quickly quarantined them from the rest of our flock, but it was too late. All the birds got whatever I brought home. Theyre all better now, but they stopped laying when they got sick and they havent started again. As a result, weve lost a few hundred eggs and who knows how much longer it will be until they start laying again. :(
I live just down Wadsworth from the store, so when I need a couple bales for the horses, it works out great. The young blond gentleman is very courteous, gets us loaded up quick, and is very respectful. He even helped my GMA get in the car when we were done. Havent had a bad experience yet.
Dont be fooled by the pretty picture of their brooder on their website or the highly questionable 3.9 star rating. The place is dirty and on more than one occasion there have been dead birds in the pens when I was looking for chicks. We are experienced bird people and have never lost a bird from another store. We have lost 50% of the birds we purchased from this place. When confronted with the fact that they may have a disease problem, they take no responsibility and do not care that they are sending people home with sick birds. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone. If 0 stars were an option, that is what i would choose.
Don’t waste your time or money here. New chicken owners and made the mistake of not reading the bad reviews. Purchased 10 chicks and lost 9 of them. Would never go back and support this place.
A year ago, I attended chicken class at Wardells, bought their custom brooder and seven chicks, and today, I couldnt be happier with what they taught me or what they sell. Ive followed their advice re all aspects of chicken keeping, I buy most of my feed at Wardells, and my chickens are healthy, happy laying hens. No illnesses, no problems, no predators. (One of my chickens was a rooster and we took him to the chicken swap and he was rehomed in ten minutes.) Employees are efficient and helpful.
We bought 6 chicks from them and within a week 4 died. 1 more died at 2.5 months. We thought we did something wrong as new chicken owners. The birds were acting normal and within 12 hours of acting lethargic, died. We tried again with 10 more chicks purchased elsewhere. These birds from the start were much more energetic and all 10 are still alive after 6 weeks.I am only giving 2 stars because they were helpful and nice.
Not a bad place. Went there looking for a chicken coop. They have goats, chickens, roosters and other barn animals for sale as well as lots of feed. Someone showed us the coops outside so the service was fine.
I have gone to Wardeles off and on over the years and have never had a problem with anything Ive gotten there before now. I would not recommend getting their Parrot mix, the last 2 bags I got from them were FULL of moth larva, which if you have birds you know turns into moths. The last bag I got was especially bad. I cant say Ill never shop there again but it will be a last resort and I will never purchase bird food from them again. Id suggest you dont either! I had to give one star so I could leave my comment other wise they would have got none !
Weve been going to Wardle for all of our chicken supplies, friendly staff and they have always helped us along the way keeping our chickens happy and healthy. Love to support our local Denver business! - Denver Flood and Fire
Best feed store in Colorado! Great prices, beyond friendly service and always an exceptional value. Thank you Wardle!
The store has great variety (including bee keeping supplies!) and the staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. A real step up from most urban feed stores.
I was reading through here and have decided it needs to be pointed out that every bad complaint is coming from new chickens owners. It would seem to me that there is alot of anger from individuals whose ignorance is not their fault. I have made several purchases from here and have not any problems at all. I am also a new chickens owner. I have had a few chicks die as well, but never considered blaming someone else for my inabilities. I now have a very healthy flock thanks to the great advice given by Wardles.
Excellent service from very knowledgeable staff! Quick and curteous! Everything you could possibly need,Best feedstore in Denver, by far.ONLY NEGATIVE I can think of, is that the recycling center is an eye sore, it clutters up what could be an amazing business. Feed store has grown and and vastly improved in recent years, there is a lot of potential there if the recycling part was removed and could be replaced with an expanded feed store!
Staff is knowledgeable, helpful and the store is kept nice.
Friendly and knowledgeable service. We bought a couple chicks from here and supplies for their brooder. Later this summer we will be getting their coop from Wardle as well because their prices were so good.
I bought 10 chicks from Wardles a few weeks ago, and the kid who helped me was very knowledgeable and helpful, which is why I am giving two stars instead of one.Unfortunately, since then, 5 have died. I am really frustrated that we spent so much money there and that so many have died. We bought all new housing and feeding materials for the chicks, so I know it wasnt from contaminated supplies on our part.
Horrible Service, Confrontational and they RIP YOU OFF!Their prices are based on how they feel at that given moment, or about you apparently.First time i came in for supplies they charged me same price for two different sizes of hive frames/foundation that i knew to be priced independent of each other because a friend had just purchased the very same items.Second time I came in I inquired with a different associate on pricing and he informed me it was based on sizing. When I challenged the associate that over-charged me on the past purchase, his response was, were the ones that are in charge of pricing. My response was, and Im in charge of where I am spend my money and then I walked out.
Super friendly and all the chicken supplies we needed at a good price!
If you want to get a chicken coup or a bird dont waste your time here. We saw 3 black runners and asked a older lady at the front register to hold them for us and came back literally the next day around noon and they were gone. I dont know if the staff just doesnt care or what. Then we bought a chicken coup that they said would fit 3 ducks but really the actual coup that they would need to be inside of for the winter only holds one duck because its 2 square feet only and we wanted to return it but they couldnt do that for us after we called and asked if they could and they said yes we can figure something out for you right before showing up with our coup and having to unload it and load it at the house and at the store before they told us they cant get in contact with the owner to ask about refunds... I think they should know by now if they accept refunds or not.. Or if they were uncertain then dont tell me you can refund it if you cant even stand by your word. Waste of $200 and time. Id only buy bird food here.
Helpful staff. Really honest business. Im happy to get all my supplies my my chickens and pups here.
They are very knowlegable on farm animals wildlife And varmints & they have the cutest baby chicks & baby goats.
Great products people and prices! One of the few stores I actually enjoy going to.
We wanted to have chickens, but knew nothing. Ashley walked us through everytying and helped us 100%. These guys are the best!!! Thank you Dodge Gurl!!! 😂
Good place to bring in your recycling and get feed for you animals.
Im one of those ppl who didnt read up on reviews on Wardle, and I wish I had, it would have saved me a lot of heartbreak and time. Weve lost 3 our of 5 chicks we got in April 2017 to Mereks. They told me their chicks get all the necessary vaccinations. This is not true. Stay away!
Do not buy hens from Wardle’s. I bought 3 pullets from them in the fall. Within the past two months, one of them started showing signs of Marek’s. We took her to the vet and did our best to treat her, but eventually she lost the ability to walk and we had to make the difficult decision to end her suffering. Now our other 2 pullets that we got with her are also showing the symptoms. When I took the first girl to the vet, the vet told me she was not even the first pullet from Wardle’s that she had seen THAT WEEK showing the signs of Marek’s. I called Wardle’s to give them the opportunity to defend themselves. I spoke with Teri, who identified herself as the owner. I explained what a painful situation it has been and asked if they were aware of it. Teri said that they do vaccinate against Marek’s, but there are 5 strains and she THINKS they only vaccinate against 1 (but didn’t know for sure). Her excuse is that Marek’s is everywhere rather than taking any responsibility for potentially not actually vaccinating properly or at all. She just apologized but didn’t offer even a refund. (Not like that would help bring my girl back or even make a dent in the vet bills I have paid for them). Then, as I started choking up telling her how painful it was to lose my hen, she said “Well she just hung up. Isn’t that polite?” and hung up the phone on me. I called her back and told her I was still on the line and did not hang up on her and she said that she heard a click. I asked her how I would hear her response if I had hung up on her, and she said “I don’t know. I’m sorry, what else do you want me to do?” Absolutely pathetic customer service from a horribly run store. It should’ve been a red flag that when I went there, it was a disorganized mess. I had hoped better for my pullets but now I know better. Please learn from my painful mistake and do not support Wardle’s.Update in response to the owners response: I was not rude; I was crying about the loss of my birds due to your poor practices, and you hung up on me. The fact that you have a canned response about Mareks that you have to respond to multiple reviews with just proves that this is frequent problem for Wardles.
I used to like this place. However, three times in the last month, I called to see if they had a certain product in. Three times they told me yes. Three times I drove down to pick it up. Three times they did not have it. I suggest if you call them to see if a product is in, that you ask them to actually go physically look.
Super friendly and very helpful have just about everything for my chickens
Service could be better but we have some very healthy chickens (all hens:) we bought from Wardle in February.
We bought 4 chicks from Wardles in May and all 4 died from Mareks disease. This was supposed to be a fun baby chick project for my two kids and instead my heartbroken kids learned how to bury chickens. Do not buy chickens from here!
Very helpful and knowledgeable. I havent had the best of luck with any chicks purchased from them though.
Terrible, dont ever buy chicks from them. We bough two chicks that were listed as Ameraucanas, but they were actually Easter Eggers. One turned out to be rooster. When we initially bought them, the girl helping us said that they would take back roosters for a fee and if they didnt have the room that the breeder they used would take them back. Fast forward 12 weeks and they suddenly wont take back roosters because according to Zach they never have the room. We even asked for the breeders contact information and were hung up on. This place is unethical in their practices. We never would have bought chicks from them if we knew they werent even the breed we were looking for and that they wouldnt take back roosters like they said they would. Do your research and please dont use this company.
We have gone to Wardles for the last 5 years for goats, chickens, etc... We have never had a problem and have learned very much from the experts that work there. We drive over an hour and a half to go to here. It seems like there is alot of misinformed people placing reviews on here. We come from a farm and pass up many places where we could get animals from. We go here because the animals and knowledge is superior. Thanks Wardles we are beyond pleased.
We purchased 4 chicks from them in May 2017. 3 died within 3 weeks. The last one is now showing serious signs of a neurological issue (likely Mareks disease) and will probably have to be put down in the next day or so because she cannot walk (and I will have a necropsy performed at CSU to confirm). As someone who was/is new to raising chickens, we trusted that the chicks we were getting were from a reputable hatchery or breeder. We have had nothing but heartache from the chicks we got from this store and I would not recommend them to anyone. We will never buy anything there again. ***UPDATE ON 10/27/17*** The CSU Lab report I just received CONFIRMS a diagnosis of Mareks disease. My response to the owners response: I have done a TON of research about Mareks. I do not need you to point me in the direction of where to find articles on it, it doesnt matter because theres no treatment. For someone who was just beginning to keep backyard chickens dont you think its suspicious that all FOUR of our birds from you died? Your response does not address my comment about the other three dying. I spent hundreds of dollars on medication and made a huge effort to save our hen that made it to 5 months old. Our first experience with chicks, thanks to your store, was heartbreaking not only for us as adults but also for our young son. I called your store and an owner was supposed to call me back but never did. To me, that speaks volumes about how concerned you are that MANY of your customers are losing most or all of the chicks they get from you. I think you should you take a serious look at the source you are buying your chicks from. I have heard many extremely bad things about this breeder. If you cant sell well breed, healthy animals then why sell them at all?
Great! Friendly staff - lots of options for rabbits, chickens, etc.
They have everything you need to start your flock and the staff is knowledgeable.
After losing 7 of our 13 chickens we purchased from Wardles I had a necropsy done and it was confirmed that it died from Mareks disease. This is our first go at chickens so I am assuming our chickens came home with this disease. Not only has it been a financial loss but also hard for our children. I was just at the store and made them aware and they responded by saying they come vaccinated from their supplier. However, they failed to mention that all chicks are not immune the first 3 weeks beyond vaccination. Meanwhile, an employee answered the phone talking with someone about there chicks potentially having Mareks. Our coop and soil is now infected. Future chicken owners be warned. An apology or some responsibility would have been nice. We will not be buying any future products from Wardles.
They are always quick to help, extremely courteous and have what I need for all our animals
These guys prove over and over again that local business and customer service are important to them. I gladly drive 20 miles out of my way to shop Wardells because of their service and the quality of their products.
Wheelchair accessible but ramp is a bit steep.
Always have a good experience here!
Great people and good prices, what more can you ask for?
Got some baby chicks from them. Very helpful. Had everything I needed.
Very helpful staff, good prices on feed and stuff.
Got chickens! Thanks guys! Love the wild flower honey too!!!
Great, knowledgeable, friendly people that have everything you need.
Everything farm and feed. They have alfalfa, hay, and straw plus baby chicks feeders, food, water, medicines, and honey (but few bee supplies).
All the chicks are here.
Very knowledgeable. Love going to Wardle!
I love the knowledgeable people there
Weve recently got some chicks from this facility and 5 have died and another one has what looks like a growth on its neck thats getting bigger everyday. Im never getting chicks from here again, though they have a good selection.
Good chickens at this store and my chickens are great and in perfect🤗🤗🤗🤗
Both females (one was the owner) were very rude would never go there again.
They was rude.I was very sad when I saw dirty caged bunnies and chickens. Why dont they clean up cages for poor animals?I feel bad some small stores like this dont clean up cages
I get my dog food and my chicken needs here as well.
Great place wonderful help
Helpful staff.
Super Knowledgeable!
No one to help customers
