Reliable, honest service. Dropped off my car for a diagnostic. They ran the tests and let me know that my transmission was in good shape and there was no need for servicing or fluid exchange. I’m grateful they didn’t try to rip me off, but told me the truth. Adding to that, they didn’t have a fee for the diagnostic! Plan ahead, this is a busy shop. But a good shop like this should be busy!

Took my little Honda in because the headlights are really dim and the brights aren’t working. I spoke with Stan about how we needed the car by noon and he said that it should be no problem to at least get diagnosis for the problem by that time. Fast forward to 12:00pm, the car is still torn apart and the mechanic is taking an hour long lunch. Much more could be said but they basically took $300 of mine for me to leave my car at their shop for 5 hours. I was not given any info about what the problem might be and neither Stan nor the mechanic were available when I went in at 14:00 to pick up the car.Edit: Andy the owner wrote me and expressed concern about my needs not being met. I returned his email with the precise details and he was thankful for that. He spoke to seeing a break down in communication and appreciated the feedback. He offered a refund for half the cost of the bill. He definitely went above and beyond to make sure I felt like I was taken care of and my concerns were addressed.

These guys are the best. When i bought my truck It had a transmission code that noone else seemed to be able to figure out. I heard all kinds of things, some even saying it wasnt an issue (which obviously was hard to believe). When i finally took it to the guys at cottmans I had an answer right then and there and they even helped me finance the cost of the work to make it more managable. These are really trustworthy guys who do good work!

Honest and a wiz when it comes to transmissions. Stan gave me a quote but changed me less because it took less time. Took less time because he knows what hes doing. I will have no hasitation going back there if I have a problem. I strongly recommend him.

I had my 2013 Chevy impala Transmission diagnosed within 2 hours of them opening.They are wonderful people with great customer service. My car was there for nearly 3 weeks, but that was not there fault. My warranty company took forever to get back to them. They were more than happy to answer any of my questions. Solenoid went out on my 07 Jeep Grand Cherokee causing my vehicle to go into limp mode. It would not get out of 2nd gear. I was referred to Stan at Cottman by a shop all the way out in Frisco. Stan took care of it and got it replaced. A few months later it was in limp mode again after driving it off road. I brought it back to Stan and he took care of it under the warranty of my previous repair. He was honest and admitted that they missed part of the problem the first time, so the vehicle would be repaired free of charge. Any other place would have said the problems were unrelated and charged me for the work. You cant beat an honest mechanic! You need transmission work, go to Stan.

Cottman Transmission is the BEST! After being repeatedly ignored for over a week by 2 Ford dealerships (1 being where I bought the car)to get the shift cables replaced in my 2016 Focus, I called Cottman. Stan was absolutely awesome! He took the time to listen and understand what was going on with my car and what I believed was wrong after my Dad had looked at it. He agreed that the shift cables (one or both) had broken and assured me that if I was to have the work done with them they would inspect it thoroughly at no additional charge to make sure that was the only issue. He quoted a reasonable price and ordered the part. My Dad dropped my car off this morning and was promptly and professionally greeted and by the time I got there to pick him up they had my car up and were busy working away on it. Stan even showed us the broken cable that they had already pulled out. They finished the work in a very timely fashion and called me to pick it up, again we were treated very professionally and politely when we arrived. The price was right on point with the estimate and Stan went over what was checked and assured me that everything was properly functioning. My car is now driving just like it had when I first bought it. I am so glad that we chose Cottman for this repair. I would highly recommend them for any service needs on any vehicle. Its refreshing to see a local business with standards not only for the work done but for how they treat people. A few weeks ago my granddaughter was looking to purchase a Dodge Ram 1500 V8 truck. I took the truck to Cottman on ward road. He put in on the rack and check everything, I was surprised at how thorough he was. Also he check for any code errors. He stated the truck was in great shape. Brought an old 2003 Buick Regal in to see if it really needed a transmission. Cottman surprised me by saying it was not really the transmission at all but a clogged catalytic converter. It was a very pleasant surprise so I had them promptly replace the cat, troubleshoot any further issues and the car was back on the road. They saved my truck, and may have saved my life. Ive had them work on my 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel with 5-speed manual trans, twice.First time, I had an issue happen in my trans, clunking noise - I thought maybe I had had a full trans failure. Id never had anything like that happen, and didnt know what to do, or who would work on an older truck, and be able to diagnose it. I took it to a dealer shop (first mistake), and asked for a diagnosis, which I knew would take labor hours, and was ready to pay for. I knew it wouldnt be good, but - I needed to know what I was facing. I dont think the dealer ever really opened up or inspected anything - no info given on what they found. The dealer just told me I could rebuild it for $$$astronomical or that I could have a new transmission put in for $$$astronomical plus$$$. So, I was out the fee for the diagnosis, without really being sure of what was truly wrong or what I needed to do. On top of that, my judgement of the dealer personnel was, I honestly dont think they are competent enough to get the job done right, even if I do do it with them. For the cost the dealer wanted, I was contemplating just selling the truck for scrap - I couldnt afford or justify the cost. In desperation, somehow I just found Cottman in Wheat Ridge, and went there. Thank God. I got with Lisa, and Stan the manager. First of all, they listened to my needs. We made a plan to get the truck in. They did a diagnosis, and Yes, we can do the job, you just need a rebuild, the cost will be one half of what the dealer wanted to charge! They could save my truck! They did the work, and the tech did a TOP NOTCH job. I love that truck, and it was fixed!Truck drives like new! I like to have major work like that checked a few months later, to make sure everything looks tight. So, we made a plan to have it in a few months later. When I did come in, they looked at the transmission work, and everything was 100% great there. But, looking the rest of the truck over, the tech found worn tie rods and other parts in my front end that no one else had ever found, and that I didnt know how to look for, that were ready to fail. If they had failed while I was driving, I could have wrecked or rolled the truck. They pointed out to me what was wrong, they said they could do the work, we got it in and got it done.Stan, Lisa, and the techs - 100% competent. Knowledgeable. Straight arrow people who will tell you the truth, and will work on your vehicle as if it were their own. Great with people who have trouble, and who need help, like I was in trouble and needed help. I trust the quality of work the techs did on my truck, with my life, and my familys life. They are the first stop for me, if and when I need help in the future.

Edit: I was contacted by the owner who assured me this isnt regular and wanted to talk. I am willing to go back and give it a second chance.I needed my clutch replaced and this place was highly recommended. Im not going back, heres why:1. The supplier ordered the wrong parts, so I was stuck paying for a rental for a longer period of time. Neither the supplier nor Cottman offered to help with a discount to help offset a mistake that was on their part.2. When I needed to check on my car, I had to call three times over two days to get the full story of the wrong parts and delayed finish.3. When I wanted to check if my car was finished, I had to call three times to get someone that knew whether it was done or not.4. When I called about getting a discount or something for the mistakes, I had to call three times to get an answer.

Cannot praise this place enough! Stan was very polite and professional dealing with my cars issues. He ran a complementary diagnostics test and helped me figure out the root of my cars problems. Stan took the time to explain exactly what was going on with my car on a level that I could understand. (thats huge considering I dont know anything the happens under the hood!) The staff were all polite and friendly. They even gave my dog a bowl of water and offered me refreshments while I waited. The costs and procedures were explained BEFORE anything was done to my car. This was probably the most painless experience Ive ever had at an auto shop. I highly recommend trusting these guys with your vehicle.

My husbands car broke down on his way to work, the car wasn’t able to go forward or backwards luckily Cottman transmission was not far from were the car left him. They were able to diagnose and figure it wasn’t the transmission at all but another problem that we were aware of an just got bigger. They were totally able to handle it and got the car going in the same day. Overall I’m really happy with their honesty and the price was very fair compared to wat other mechanics quoted us. We are very happy with their service the staff was so nice HONEST (it’s so hard to find places that tell the truth) we will definitely be going back if needed.

Scott is very knowledgeable and willing to assist with any questions/concerns you might have. I needed a transmission replacement in my Suburban and it was nothing short of an excellent experience. The turnaround was quick and I wasnt hit with a bunch of other stuff that was tacked on to my original quote. He even brought me back into the garage so that I could check out what they were looking at on my vehicle. I being a woman think they did work that was not needed. Took advantage of me. When I got my truck home after so called repairs it was doing the same thing. $1400.00 later. The day I was supposed to pick it up they seemed to find something else wrong. I declined that.i thought it as kinda odd the morning I was to pick it up.i will go somewhere else. I dont trust mechanics.

They picked up my truck on a Thursday and were finished the following Thursday and that was with Christmas in the middle! Stan kept me up to date send me emails and called me with updates on everything. Now I am just waiting to here about a tune up next!

Wow! We cannot say enough about this wonderful business and the personalized service we received from Jim and Scott. Travelling from St. Louis to Moab Utah, our car broke down outside of Denver, in the mountains. Cottman Transmission had such good reviews that we had our car towed there. Knowing that we were from out of town, Jim Cottman did anything he could to help us out, including helping us find a rental car and giving us a huge chunk of his time on a Sunday afternoon, on his day off, when the shop was actually closed! On Monday morning, Scott looked our car over and, when he found that it was not a transmission problem, he drove the car to another automotive shop to further diagnose the problem. They took car of our car while we enjoyed our vacation. All this was done out of kindness and good will. They are not only a stellar transmission and auto care shop, they are first class people. Scott Cooper met my wife & I with the most kind and understanding demeanor imaginable! We were traveling from Nashville to Crested Butte and were worried about our Buicks transmission. Scott tested the vehicle, and explained that our engine would run different in the high altitude. Even though he was very busy with cars backed up, he took the time to read our codes, and check our fluids! I offered to pay him for his time, and he said Just stop! I think youll make it to Crested Butte. Just get it serviced soon and you should be okay!. I will definitely say that if I lived here I would never take my vehicles to anyone besides Scott. I dont know much about cars, but I do know people and I can tell that hes one of the good ones!

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Cottman Transmission. My husband just got out of the Army at the end of July and we both work and go to school so we were still transitioning into civilian life. At the beginning of September my aunt had passed away so we had to make a quick trip home. The day after we get back I fall and break my arm. Then the day after that our transmission went out on us. It was a tough month to say the least. We had been referred to Cottman while calling around to see if we could have it looked at. Thankfully we went to the right place! I started a road trip on a Saturday morning, when 30 minutes into the drive I noticed that there was fluid leaking from my transmission. The Toyota dealership was the only place that was open, and after a brief stop, they told me that I would have to leave my car but they may not be able to look at it until Monday. There was no way that was going to work. So by chance, I called Scott at Cottman Transmission, and he said that he would come in on a Saturday to inspect my transmission and try to help me out. He was already going above and beyond.He took a look at my transmission, and he was able to determine that my transmission had been over serviced and that it was venting the excess fluid. Nothing was actually wrong with my transmission, and after some quick checks, I was on my way. Scott could have told me anything, but he was fair, honest, and knowledgable.Scott was great, and I will not hesitate to go to Cottman Transmission again or to recommend them to friends or family.

Brought my Honda in thinking my transmission was in big trouble because the dashboard warning lights were going off and Scott and his team at Cottman of Wheat Ridge found the problem to be chewed through wires outside of the transmission (probably that rabbit I saw running from beneath the car the night the warning lights started flashing). They were very honest, fixed it promptly and my bill was a couple of hundred dollars, rather than the thousands I had feared going in. So glad I didnt take it to the dealer. I would recommend them to anyone who thinks their transmission is having problems or just needs some regular service. So glad I found a trustworthy place to bring my car.

Had dealt with these guy for years when Scott was up front with no issues. I sent my good friend for a simple clutch in a frontier the throw out bearing started making noises after 9 month they wouldn’t warranty it because he put 10,326 miles on it. Totally overpaid for poor quality parts and a useless warranty. They only warranty a clutch for 10,000 miles is a total joke. I refer all my customers to the dealer now, at least they stand behind their parts and labor.

I think we all fear getting ripped off by a dishonest mechanic. My fear was realized after taking my truck in to cottmans transmission. This place is a nightmare. Do yourself a favor and find another shop to work on your vehicle. I brought my truck into these guys after it was making a very distinctive bad noise. After they looked at it they determined that it was the transfer case and that it needed to be rebuilt. An expensive repair. I swallowed hard and told them to do the work. After picking up my truck from their shop, I noticed my truck making the same noise that I brought it in to get repaired for. I found out later the problem was in the rear axle not the transfer case. They totally misdiagnosed the problem and did nothing to rectify it. I even talked to the owner Jim and became shocked when he did little to fix the situation. These guys are really good at taking money but bad at diagnosing and fixing vehicles. Totally dishonest and unprofessional shop. $2,200 and they didnt even fix the problem I brought it in for! Dont take your vehicle here!...After reading cottnans response its become even clearer,these guts are completely dishonest.I BROUGHT MY TRUCK IN BECAUSE IT WAS MAKING A DISTINCT NOISE THEY TOLD ME THAT BY REBUILDING THE TRANSFER CASE IT WOULD ELIMINATE THE NOISE AND AT NO POINT DID THEY TELL ME THAT THE WORK THEY WHERE GOING TO PERFORM WOULD NOT ELIMINATE THAT NOISE UNTIL THEY FINISHED THE WORK AND CHARGED ME $2,200 DOLLARS!when i first brought my truck into them i mentioned that when i emotionally bought it reverse slipped a couple of times but that was 6 months before i brought it into them.Then all of a sudden they test drive it and its having problems?funny how they didnt mention this UNTIL after they did the work.It seems to me and anyone with a little common sense that they are trying to cover themselves.whether the truck was having a separate issue with the rear axle is irrelevant.They misdiognosed the problem and instead of doing the right thing they passed the problem of thete mistake on to me the customer.They can try to spin this anyway theyd like.The bottom line is THEY are unprofessional and Dishonest and they hosed me the customer!Again...Dont bring your vehicle To this shop!

I broke down in Dumont, I looked up reviews and chose Cottman over the place they were going to tow me to. It was the best 12 extra dollars I have ever spent. Cottman has a small town persona. They were amazing! I cant say enough good things. Scott even called me later that day to make sure my family was ok!!!

Great service and excellent job!

We were traveling through Colorado on vacation when we had an issue with our 2006 Saturn Vue. Cottman Transmission was able to find the problem for us and fix it, to get us back home. Sometimes when youre traveling and you dont know places to take your car, were here to tell you that we would recommend you take your vehicle to Cottmans Trammission,; they treat you well. Waited over an hour for a free evaluation. Then the tech said it would be $150 applied toward any repairs.

This is my second time dealing with Cottmans. Both times they refused payment. I cant say enough good about my experience with them. They are the only transmission shop Ill use.

I called for a quote on changing the fan clutch on my trailblazer. And they said they only do transmission work??? What happen to the total car care part?? I have called around and all other repair shops do it. So why not them?!?!??!

Amazing honest shop took my 14 Jeep there after a 5k quote from another shop to get a second opinion and turns out the other shop was trying to scam me Cottmans found the real issue and fixed it for 1,300$ in a very reasonable time highly recommend I will bring my vehicle back
