This place is great! My husband and I took the HQL class with Geared Up and had Spiker as our instructor - let me tell you, we couldn’t recommend him more! He was GREAT! He is full of knowledge, he’s personable, he makes you feel comfortable as soon as you walk in and he helps you go through the entire process. We are ready to sign up for more classes with Spiker and crew! Great place! Highly recommend!

I just completed the Maryland Wear and Carry class at Geared Up Firearms. The course was two full days consisting of classroom instruction, hands on exercises and a qualification trip to the range...all delivered by a knowledgeable and effective certified instructor. Upon completion of the class I was assisted by a staff member to finalize and submit my W/C application to the Maryland State Police.The overall experience was professional, efficient and well done. I interacted with several Geared Up Team members who were helpful, friendly and easy to work with.Bottom line...Geared Up did a great job and I am now just waiting for the State to run their process and issue my W/C permit.

I have not seen such a dedication to work for many decades. People like these just do not exist any more. Extremely well organized, knowledgeable, highly professional, really kind and customer oriented, they go well beyond their responsibilities and provide magnificent help to their customers.Great service, good prices, perfect attitude toward customers.I fell in love with these people and doing business with them reminds me good old pleasant times.

I couldnt be happier with the team and their service. They provide multiple training classes at below market rates and still managed to go above and beyond my expectations for training. Terrific owners and staff. They obviously have a passion for educating and serving their customers. I took their HQL training, which was well done with a strong emphasis on safety and discerning the right type of firearm to meet individual needs. Lots of hands-on time given with different types of handguns. They could have stopped there and given me my moneys worth, but they didnt. They also took the extra time necessary to make sure everyones paperwork for the State license was in order. I highly recommend Geared Up and will definitely be doing business there moving forward!

I am a 55 year old female with ZERO weapon experience. i have always been very fearful of guns and never held one -- never wanted to. our current environment of unrest and shaky future, hubby and i bought 2 shot guns. i shot both. we will inherit my father in laws collection of guns also. with this in mind, i signed up for the hql class so that i can be educated, knowledgeable and legally able to inherit his weapons. i want to no longer be fearful of guns.john told me to follow on facebook because sometimes last minute class openings are posted there. BINGO! got in a class within a week of my request due to these last minute postings.everyone is so very nice. i was comfortable with everything and everyone. highly recommend regardless of demographic -- young, old, female, male EVERYONE IS WELCOMED HERE. class is very basic and for all levels.strongly recommend. thanks to all of you at Geared Up!!

What a great business. Very professional and friendly atmosphere. They guided me through the process, explaining each form and what was required of me throughout. They have an extensive knowledge of the laws and regulations and were more that willing to answer any questions I had. They follow up with email quicker than most businesses do which is great. Donna, is truly the best and most pleasant person to do business with, she is extremely relaxed and will walk you though what you need to do, I would also like to give John a shout out, he will talk to you about firearms and training until you both are blue in the face and late for dinner. John and donna own this small business and I couldn’t be happier on how they conduct there operation. Yes it is a small shop but they are growing, they can also get you what you want in a timely fashion. But the most important thing to me is they are true believers in the 2nd amendment, they want to get you trained and get you practicing your right to keep and bear arms. They are not like most other store where they make huge profit on firearms.....( most times they only make a few dollars) this is extremely important to me as it should be to you. Today I went for my HQL with John and Donna. They are awesome! I had never even fired a weapon before but John was patient and thorough. Both John and Donna are highly qualified instructors and Donna was a saint with the paper work. I highly recommend their services.

I had the pleasure of attending the HQL class with John and Donna. I choose Geared Up on the recommendation of a friend and I can say Im glad I took his advice. The class size was small so John was able to give all the students the attention they needed and answered all the questions we had. I consider myself an intermediate shooter and the other students were brand new beginners. John was able to provide all the information to the beginners while making the experience pleasant to those who had years of experience. While I was there he also took in a damaged pistol of mine and submitted it to the manufacturer for warranty. In addition they also have the cheapest FFL fees I have seen, to which I assure you I will be taking advantage of. I would highly recommend this establishment to beginners ( and shooters of all skill level) as John and Donna both have a down to earth inviting personality that takes the fear of asking questions and advice out of the scenario. Overall this was a stellar first experience and I will be back!

Had a great time and learned a tremendous amount of needed knowledge in the HQL class. John had no problem answering even the most off the wall questions. Before the class I was overwhelmed with Maryland law (do’s and dont’s) but after the class I was confident in the understanding of how to obtain a regulated firearm. Donna did a great job on taking care of all the paperwork needed to finalize the HQL process.Quick and painless! 5/5 would recommend to a friend!
