Use to be good. There people are great, but management thinks paying 530% over wholesale is good business. I went somewhere more down to earth.

Their oil may be satisfactory, but never buy a service contract. I bought the gold level contract for 24/7 furnace mechanic. When my furnace did not start up an oil truck driver mangled it causing a tremendous flood resulting in major mold damage. When I first reported mold Mr. Nussbaum told me to clean it up with Clorox wipes. The mold got totally out of control while Southern States denied any responsibility. Meanwhile I replaced my furnace, replaced the water heater that sat in water, purchased a constant running air filter and had to replace all the ceiling insulation that was mold damaged. They refused to communicate with me and their insurance answering any basic questions. Eventually I itemized $14,000 worth of possessions that had to be thrown out. Their customer service tactic for complaints is to ignore, to deny, to never explain or apologize. I eventually received a check for $9,000, but that in no way compensated for my total loss and expenditures of about $29,000. These people can pump oil, but do not acknowledge their mistakes.

Wayyyy cheaper propane than any other supplier in area. If you prepay at beginning of season, price is even better. Have used them last 5 years.

I am a propane customer of this SS store & these people really try to help. We have been going through financial challenges, as have many in the past few years, and this store has been understanding, flexible & very responsive. I guess their propane price is competitive, but I would not switch for less because their staff & drivers are courteous and care about keeping you warm.Thank you Carroll-Howard Petroleum - SS you are what other businesses should aspire to be.

Just tried to call to get information on propane and was treated extremely rudely and then hung up on. Will not be purchasing propane from here in the future.

Not what they used to be. The office staff are incompetent and not very helpful.
