Five stars from start to finish. Our AC went out on a Friday afternoon and Preferred AC was very quick to come out for a service call and resolve the problem. Daniel called Friday night to discuss our issue and told us what to do until he could get there Saturday. He solved the issue Saturday morning and told us since the AC was 15 years old we definitely needed to replace it as it could go at any time. We did order a new AC and scheduled the installation as soon as our work schedule permitted a week later. They arrived promptly first thing in the morning as promised and were done by around noon. Frankie and a Manny were very professional and courteous. Did a fantastic job as the unit is on the third floor so I’m sure it was harder than usual to install. Can’t thank them enough. I highly recommend Preferred AC and their prices were also very reasonable!
I very rarely write a review, but wanted to take the time to recognize your employee Matt who completed our AC maintenance. He was extremely professional and provided great communication from the time he was heading over to completion. He discussed current issues and provided recommendations and next steps. I was having issues with my a/c, Preferred had technician Jose come out and replace a weak capacitor. I was very satisfied with his observations and diagnoses. Last company that came was not able to find the problem. Very pleased with this company from start to finish!!
Had appointment, nobody showed up, no call from the business to reschedule. Nothing. I called to see what is happening, office is closed.I live in a gated community, all visitors are logged (admitted or rejected) I can verify that on my phone. No one is logged at the gate.
0 stars. This company installed a Carrier unit in our new build per the builders. So I called them to schedule 6 month maintenance cleaning and inspections. I paid in advance. They came out the first time and it was surprisingly fast. They never set up the follow up appointment that I already paid for. So I followed up and had them come out regularly (every 6 months). The unit was cleaned 5 months ago ( now the unit is 2 years old) and we started having problems with the fan constantly staying on. I called them to come out because we were worried about the unit freezing up and losing AC with an infant in the house. They said the earliest appointment was in one week and it was not an emergency. So I called a different company and they came out that afternoon. When the new company took the front panel off they asked if we have ever had the unit cleaned or maintained. Black mold is growing all over our unit. The new service provider said there was no way this unit has ever been cleaned behind the front panel and it was disgusting. It is not Preferred Air fault that the fan stopped working correctly. It is Preferred Air’s fault for exposing my infant to black mold (see pictures below). When we called back the next day to complain to a manager, we spoke with Holly. HOLLY WAS VERY RUDE. Service manager Holly laughs at you and talks over you on the phone. She accused me of cursing at her empty the afternoon before because I said they were running a “shady” business. Holly, the service manager’s direct quote, “I’m nobody’s anything and I can talk to people how I want. I don’t care that I’m in customer service,” and then talked over me again. Stay away from this customer service. There are plenty of other great AC service providers in Florida
First time customer. Service on same day was great. Service technician solved the problem. Could be 5 stars but, unlike most home service companies Ive hired, they would not roll their $79 service visit fee into the $125 cost of the repair. $204 for less than 30 minutes of work.
Maxwell at Intelligentsia Heating And Air Conditioning was extremely conversant and respectful and is probably the best service guy I ever came across. He knew every aspect of air exchanging and temperature; very thorough and methodical way of diagnosing my problem, made the necessary fixes and my 15-year-old furnace runs great again!! A++ service!
Made an appointment... the technician claimed he was at my gate and call me but the number was busy. Left me a message saying he’s on his way. He never arrives 3 hours later. I called the company, some rude rep said he called me twice and she called too and they won’t have him waiting so he left. How unprofessional is this. I called and made an appointment. If I wasn’t going to be home I would’ve canceled. Their level of professionalism was a beyond this world. Would never recommend or use them again!

I was forced to leave this review to warn others of the horrendous service and poor workmanship that this company provides. I have had the displeasure of dealing with their ineptitude and their lack of taking responsibility for their service.Unfortunately, the builder Divosta-Pulte that built our home of two years, used AC Preferred as their vendor of HVAC installations & install of ductwork for many of the homes of my community. After close to two years our garage ceiling started to show a dark black stain.AC Preferred was sent to my home by Pulte to check out the issue with the leak. The ac tech opened up the drywall and he couldnt determine what was the cause but based on how drenched the insulation, the wood beams and drywall was he estimated this had been occurring since the house was first built. His true main concern was who would pay for his $147/hr rate. The tech didnt even bother going up to the attic to check ductwork there considering that the garage ductwork and distribution box was sweating.After more than two months of having Pulte and AC Preferred battle as to whom would be responsible for the damages to be repaired on the ductwork of the HVAC for my home- I get another service work order to be performed by AC Preferred and this time they did go to attic and moved ductwork around but then didnt seal any of the ductwork that was sweating and they completely disregarded the garage ceiling hole they had done 3 months ago. The box was that was initially sweating just got worse after being out in the open with no insulation and drywall.As I figured they had no idea what had to be done to correct the issue of the leak so instead they informed me that the reason of the sweating ductwork was due to the fact that we kept our AC temperature below 75 degrees. AC Preferred paid an expert and this was the bright conclusion that they had come up with. According to AC Preferred as long as I kept my AC unit below 75 degrees, the problem will continue to get worse.Here we pay more than 500k for a home where we are being dictated as to what our temperature for the thermostat should be. The company just wanted to take absolutely no responsibility for the subpar work they had initially performed to my home.We ended up changing our HVAC unit which we bought from Kyzar Air Conditioning, to a better energy efficient one but unfortunately the ductwork done by AC Preferred is causing issues as it was not corrected by them. They are dishonest and there is not one once of integrity at this company. If building a brand new home just beware if this is the vendor being hired by your builder. Neither should they be trusted for regular service maintenance of any kind as their ineptitude is beyond outrageous. Kyzar Air Conditioning ended up fixing AC Preferreds inferior and shoddy work.
Very professional, very responsive, moved very quickly, on site installers were very polite, professional, clean, left my home better then before they arrived. I have never had a better experience with any other contractor or service provider. I highly recommend them whole heartily.

Yesterday my AC died. I called Preferred Air Conditioning & Mechanical. Nicole answer the phone and scheduled someone out to diagnose. The technician came in, diagnose a faulty board and said he would have to order the part and that Nicole would call me next day. Next Nicole call to collect the $79 fee for the diagnosis. When I ask her when they can come out, she said we are not going to talk about it until you pay the $79. Needless to say I was shocked at this, and the tone of this person. When I tried to ask if she can at least give an estimate of the total repair she kept cutting me off, rude and interrupting and finally hanged up on me. I then called their main office in Palm Beach and asked to speak with the owner Donald OBryon who was totally ok with Nicoles rudness and did not want to even address it. Goes to show that employees behave exactly how their managers train them. They do not give a hoot about the experience of their home owners. This is not the first time that this Nicole person has been less than professional and rude, they have been servicing my home for four years and it was always a bad experience talking to her, but as this story shows, she is just reflecting what has been endorsed by the owner. This is quite prevalent behavior here in FL. To make matters worse, another company came in a discovered that the diagnosis from Preferred Air was incorrect and replaced different components that were damaged by Preferring Air such as my nest thermostat and another electric switch. The Preferred Air tech caused three times sparks and smoke to come out of the electronics part inside the AC. I can not help but think he purposely caused damage to create a bigger repair bill. Stay away from this company.
My AC stopped working last night and they were out first thing the next morning. I always use Socrates for my maintenance because he does such a great job. I’m very happy with Socrates and preferred AC.
The installer was pleasant and intelligent and well-versed in what he was doing it did not take him very long to install a new thermostat. He then showed me how to use it which most people don’t do. It was a pleasure doing business with him.

Bad experience from the start. The technicians showed up and started the installation process without turning off the breakers. They tripped the breakers and I was without electricity for 30-40 minutes. My son was unable to attend his classes at that time because without electricity we had no internet. Once that issue was resolved the installation went quickly.Last week I received a call from Preffered AC saying they needed to schedule an appointment to have an inspector come out to issue permits. I was very flexible and told them any day would work. She scheduled me for the next day. The next day happened to be a Saturday so she called me back within a short time to reschedule. I told her Monday was fine. They gave me a window of 8am to 5pm. I waited all day and no one showed up. Yesterday the woman calls again and explains they put the wrong address down for the inspector and they needed to reschedule. I said today would be fine. I did ask for a smaller window and was told they couldnt give me a smaller window as the inspector is employed through the city and they dont have control. That was understandable. The inspector showed up today while I was in the shower. My 16 year old son answered the door and the permits were on the counter. He said the inspector looked at the newly installed AC unit and then he said okay and left without asking for the paperwork. When I realized he had not taken the paperwork I called Preferred AC because I knew some action had to be taken if the permits were not passed and they couldnt have passed if they were still on the counter. I explained that I was in the shower to the receptionist who repeatedly asked me what the inspector said. I was in the shower and told her I didnt know exactly word for word what was said but I told her what my son had told me. Instead of offering a resolution the receptionist continued to push me to tell her what the inspector said. I again explained I was not the one who spoke to him. She said she couldnt help me if I didnt know what he said. After explaining three times that my son let the inspector in, that he looked and said okay and left, I still had not gotten anywhere. I asked to speak to the office manager. When the office manager got on the phone I started explaining the situation and was cut off by her yelling at me telling me I had yelled at two of her employees. (I only spoke to one employee.) Neither the office manager or the receptionist offered any kind of resolution or any kind of apology for the mixup on Monday when I waited all day and no one showed up. Eventually I got tired of the woman yelling at me and I hung up. The customer service of the office staff is horrendous and although the technicians were friendly it seemed they were not properly trained. I would not recommend using this company.

After showing up to inspect my clogged drain the tech called his office. They decided they wouldnt work on the problem as it was :such a mess: after 4 months I received a bill from a collection agency. I called the office and they said they had sent bills to a address I havent lived in for 6 years. The bill collector had no trouble getting my address straight. Now they say they have a right to charge a service fee even if they refuse to fix the problem American air fixed the problem in about an hour. Needless to say I will not pay them or let them anywhere near my property again. They are just thieves.

I chose Preferred Air Conditioning mainly because of Charlie, the Sales Manager and because they had Carrier Air Conditioners which are consistently rated among the best. Their office staff is friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. The pricing was also very reasonable.Charlie was honest. He listened to what I wanted and then provided options that would be suitable. He didn’t try to sell me on something I did’t want. Charlie’s diligent and knows AC systems inside and out. After talking with him, I had total trust in him and Preferred Air. He provided us with a custom system that fit our house. I asked a lot of questions and he patiently answered every one, exceeding my expectations. I called him early in the morning when our air conditioner went down and he and his crew were here that day.The install team of Brad & Mickey also did a great job! Just finished my second six month service September 9, 2019. One of the most comprehensive and thorough systems checks I have experienced. From the moment the technician arrived it was obvious he (Matthew) enjoyed his job and wanted to ensure my a/c system was thoroughly checked and running in peak performance. It is because of Matthews performance and attention to detail I will renew the service checks for another year. I am a firm believer in preventive maintenance and Preferreds service tech gave me the confidence that I can depend on them to maintain my a/c system.

Preferred A/C and Mechanical tech came out to provide a quote for new equipment. I was asked to pay $79 for a service visit which I refused to pay because this was NEVER agreed upon, it was understood I only wanted an estimate. I explained to the tech what the issue was but he decided to spend a couple of minutes verifying my diagnosis - his decision to do so.They continure to send me an invoice for the $79 which I will not pay.I wonder how many other victims they have scammed witht this underhanded way of doing business.
My air conditioning wasn’t working (and leaking) and since it was still covered under warranty my builder, they contacted preferred air and I had an appointment window of 4 to 8 PM. I had someone waiting for them to show but they never dead. Nobody showed or called. I tried calling the office number and could not get in touch with anyone. I tried again the next morning and it was still unable to reach anyone. They even have a “emergency line“ but that option does not work. Very unprofessional. Even if they do at some point come out to my house in fix my AC I don’t most doesn’t matter because of their no-show and inability to answer the phone does not give me much confidence in the work that they will do.
Tricia, Charlie, and Frankie were great from beginning to end. Tricia responds to e-mails very quickly and explained the entire process from beginning to end. Preferred A/C also offers a 3 year warranty on labor when most companies offered 1 year! Frankie was very professional during the installation and finished early and Charlie answered all our questions on how to operate the system.

Need AC service? Find someone else. This place ripped of my employer for over $500 for work that they never showed up to perform and then had the audacity to refer my employer to collections! Fortunately there are a lot more of reputable AC service businesses in this area to choose from.

I had an excellent experience with Preferred Air Conditioning. I have a very old A/C unit that stopped blowing air inside on a 90 degree day. I called Preferred A/C and got a time frame to expect them on the same day. They arrived 5 minutes early for the earliest time they gave me. That never happens! Jose and his partner were friendly, quick and efficient at determining the problem and replacing the part I needed. So pleased! Thanks so much.

My service man, Donald, arrived on time with a courtesy call when he was about 10 minutes away. He immediately set about the task of checking the air conditioning system both in and out of the house. He responded completely to my questions about settings for the humidistat and thermostat and provided guidance on a couple of maintenance items I could do myself to prolong system life. He was very personable throughout his service call! I hope I see him again in the fall when I tune the system up for winter!
Make sure you choose Preferred A/C & Mechanical in Palm Beach County and not Preferred A/C in Broward County they are not the same company.Had a new Carrier a/c system installed and the crew was polite, clean, protected the floor and the inspector remarked on what a clean and professional install was done. It passed inspection the first time and have not had any issues to date.I referred them to a neighbor and they did an excellent job on their install and the inspector again was very pleased with the work that they did.I would definitely refer them to friends and family.
The Carrier air conditioning on my new-construction home has been experiencing performance issues. Preferred Air sent out three techs over two weeks to troubleshoot the problem, but walked away after the last visit saying that the unit is running normally. Unfortunately, thats not the case as the A/C runs nearly continuously, even when the set point is close to or at the outside temperature and well after the ambient temperature reaches the thermostat setting. A reputable company would honor the warranty and work hard to resolve the problem to the full satisfaction of the customer -- no questions asked. Instead, in a twisted turn of events, Ive somehow been blamed (yes, you heard correctly) while I confront more refusals and excuses (its not our problem!) and am left to figure out how to find a resolution on my own. So let me ask you -- do you really want to do business with a company like this?And incidentally, I never refused another service visit after 30 days as the owner indicates below. It becomes very convenient to make up ones own truths, no?
This company installed a new Carrier unit in my two year townhouse; therefore, they were my first option to call for a repair for the warranty.It was a Friday morning, I had a bad fan (Blower motor AC fan), I have two infants at home, and I wanted to make sure the part was ordered the same day. I spoke personally to the sales department who offered no sense or urgency, bad customer service, and I opted for another dealer.This other company, came with part needed in hand, and It took less than 25 minutes, under warranty.Do not select this company, my whole community are aware of their incompetence.Again, do not call them.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE STAY AWAY! The customer is always wrong here. I was told I was wrong multiple times by the call operator including that it was my fault that they went to the wrong address the night before. They had failed to update my records even though they had done service at my new address in the last 12 months ( I havent been at the old address for over 3 years!) I also specifically told them my address over the phone the day I made the appointment which according to the operator I did not (by the way this is their standard response if they screw up on anything - you as the customer are wrong). When I pointed out to the operator that this was her standard response she said you know what? my tech is there but Im going to pull him off your job. Honestly? How incredibly unprofessional! There are so many AC companies out there, find yourself one that can both fix and maintain your units and actually cares about their customers. This is by far the most unprofessional company i have ever dealt with.

These guys are the best! We had a problem with moisture and humidity in our upstairs living area. Charlie and his crew came to our home several times and spent many hours diagnosing and planning a solution to our problem. Their plan included adding return and supply vents where needed and replacing the entire ductwork. They also reworked the existing airhandler configuration and cleaned the airhandler coils. They made every effort to keep the work area clean. They were fast and finished the entire job as promised. Very professional. I highly recommend this company for all air conditioning needs.
Excellent excellent service! Thanks to Daniel for the initial diagnosis and Eric who performed major surgery on my very broken AC (big refrigerant leak and broken compressor). Company put in new air conditoning units into my home. They then informed me that there is a required air conditioning inspection by the city inspector. I have tried to schedule the air conditioning inspection by the city on 3 different occasions - it has been mishandled by Preferred Air all 3 times. I am still unable to get my air conditioning units certified by the city.
After reading most of the reviews I was a little hesitant to contact this company. I was looking for a quote on a monthly maintenance contract for our company. It ranged approximately 1000.00 a month from quotes from other companies. I spoke with Vanessa who was super friendly. She promised to have Holly call me that afternoon to set up a time for someone to come out and give us a quote. Five days later and NO RETURN PHONE CALL. I can only assume that the negative reviews were correct. Maybe our contract wasnt going to be large enough for them to bother.
Dont hire them!!!This company takes LOUSY customer service to the next level. The only responsive person is their sales manager. The owner Donald has no ability to communicate with the customer.They installed a Trane 31/2 ton AC unit in my house the end of May. We had a Water Damage a month later which destroyed my daughters bedroom. The air handler was installed in the attic over her room and the water backed up in the pipes and overflowed all over the insulation ceiling and down through the carpet destroying the bedding. Preferred AC did come out and made the repairs to the unit but blamed an old pipe for the damage. Well if you put a new unit in and think that the old pipe needs to be replaced then do so. They never advised me to do this at the time of the install. The pipe was operating correctly for many years.Their techs used a substance that is supposed to flush the drain except they didnt flush it properly and instead clogged the drain so the moisture had no where to go. So it overflowed into the bedroom and ruined everything. I spoke to Don the owner and asked him if he would help pay for the damages and he said he would think about it. I never heard back from him after several attempts to reach him and get some response. Dont EVER use this company because they dont accept responsibility for their mistakes. This is a BIG one!! They have no clue how to manage their work or customer service. It takes multiple phone calls and emails to get anything from their office staff. I would never recommend them and hope everyone reads this review so you protect yourself from a company who should not be doing AC installations. It will cost me a lot to replace and repair the room damages and my insurance will go up because of their errors.This is the company located in palm beach county.
Today is the day after Mothers Day and I still have no A/C. Brand new system in a brand new house and I have 6 issues is 6 months. When you call them they say they’ll come and then no show. I called yesterday as we had family over for mothers day..also a newborn and a toddler and we had no A/C..they no showed! Called this morning and the “manager” has no clue about anything. They stillll don’t have anyone to come this morning so they will supposedlyyyyy be here between 12 and 4..doubtful. So another whole day here with 2 kids and No A/C. I had an appt scheduled with them to change our filters as we paid 1000 dollars for them 2 weeks ago...Never showed up. Horrible customer service and company.
The staff at Preferred AC are the most friendliest people! A very welcoming visit, great service and they make you feel like part of their family!!!!
I have been working with Preferred Air and Holly for a loooong time now (Probably close to 20 years) and Holly always delivers top service. Professional, knowledgable, polite and always on time. The service guys - same thing. A truly top notch company all around.
Great experience with Preferred Air Conditioning. We had to replace our system in our home and this company was very professional and accommodating. Highly recommend.

You can be the judge... here is the complaint to BBB and Hollys responseErroneous billing for a service chargeservice summary:Technician came to the home, diagnosed the issue and came back the next day to perform the service. After the initial visit, i called preferred air and asked for the total cost so i could leave a check w/ my mother to hand to the tech when the service was finished. I was given a verbal $135 and I still left a blank check with my mother who would be there with the technician in the case of unforeseen issues. There were no other issues and my mother wrote in the amount ($135) that was due and the tech went on his way. 3 months later i receive an invoice for a diagnostic fee of $79.DisputeHolly, preferred air service manager, made false claims that she had conversations with my mother and gave her all of the costs and she was aware of the charges and agreed and was acting on my behalf. This is incorrect- My mother was only involved to facilitate access to my home when i wasnt there so preferred air could perform the service.In summary- I paid for a service in full and 3 months later im hit w/ additional fees on the basis of conversation that never happened.Timeline of events5/9/18 my Check was cashed for service $135 for the AC Repair8/18/18 I receive an additional invoice (dated 5/10)in the mail for $79.8/20/18 I contacted Preferred air and Tricia forwarded my email to Holly Gabriel to handle (no response)10/1/18 I receive a final notice before legal action.10/1/18 I contacted Preferred Air via email and asked for an update to my previous email. Holly made false claims as to conversations she had with my motherHollys Response to BBBMy claims are not false I spoke to his mother before we arrived at the home and the technicians gave the information while there. The cost of diagnostic of $79 was given PRIOR to our ever arriving at the home to find the issue. Upon arrival we found the motor faulty and gave a price of $153 to replace the motor we attempted to collect the $79 and the homeowners mother requested that we collect both invoices the following day when we were there to install the motor. We do not normally roll invoices to the next day and require payment at time of service however we agreed to collect both invoices the next day in this case as a courtesy. Once we completed the motor install the check given was only for the motor install itself in the amount of $153, leaving the $79 unpaid. An invoice copy is sent monthly as a reminder of payment due and like most companies once an invoice goes unpaid for a lengthily amount of time they are turned into collections. In emails from the customer he sates that he is fully aware that he owes it but since the technician installing the motor did not ask for it we should credit it for him. When we did not agree to credit an invoice he admitted he owed because of a mistake by the technician he then threatened to leave us bad reviews.

Dont be fooled by their low prices on AC units. They simply dont stand behind their products. I bought an AC from them in the summer, when the time came to use the heater the system didnt work, they blame my Nest thermostat, then I got a brand new as result, and nothing, they still blamed the Nest, then when the system didnt word with THEIR thermostat they blame the wire. They failed to produce any evidence that the system was even tested when installed.Customer service manager called Holly is the worst. Very rude!I went with the cheapest price and got the cheapest company...surprise surprise.
Been a loyal customer for 5 yrs for both home and office - was told it would take roughly 2 hours for install - pushed back appointment to obtain first call of morning (9am) - technician arrives at 11am because he had an emergency appt according to manager but tech new nothing of emergency.... when I showed him the thermostats he said it would take possibly 2+ hours each and he might even need to call ecobee for instructions - manager stated she wasnt sure if the house was wired correctly although they did the initial install at construction - Neighbors had same thermostats in same house installed in approx 20 minutes each by tech who has never even been to the house... Tech also said it would take an hour+ for the UV filters but according to salesman and UV company, should take no more than 30 minutes each... I blocked off 3-4 hours for install but was told that still might not have been enough time...manager made no offers to come back another day if not completed today...decided after arguing with manager that just best to take ALL my business + roughly $1500 to another company.
