Theyre all very nice people here, and the price was incredibly reasonable. Maybe my overall experience was atypical. However, everything after the initial drop off was not confidence inspiring. I called ahead and asked if they could install an aftermarket transmission into my vehicle, which they assured me could be done. I dropped off the vehicle, and the installation was really quick. Afterward however, when I asked if they could ship my old transmission back to the shop to cover the core charge, they acted like I had asked them to move a mountain. I said I would still cover the shipping cost, I just have no idea about freight shipping or how any of that works, and they still said no, no I think you should do that almost like they were afraid. I still havent done anything because I dont know where to begin for that. They also mentioned not having a dolly, which is crazy because theyre a transmission shop. The install was fine for a few days, until the ground cable for my vehicles electrical system came loose. The ground for my specific vehicle is located on the transmission, and maybe it was unrelated and coincidental, but I feel it was worthy of note. All in all, they did ok, and I would possibly consider them again for in-house only work, but trying to coordinate between them and aftermarket companies was not great.

I brought my 05 Suburban in to have its transmission rebuilt. I talked with Al and he was very helpful and explained the process to me I am not a mechanic, and wouldnt feel comfortable doing a project as big as a transmission on my own. I called 5 other places I will not name them, but this was the place I felt was going to do a great job and wasnt pushy on getting a sale.After bringing the vehicle in they got to it very quickly, Al took it out for a drive to see what the problem could be before just doing the work. He called me to let me know that he didnt honestly believe the transmission needed to be replaced YET (it for sure will need to in a year or two though) and that the problem could be the ABS wheel sensors that caused my vehicle to hickup while taking off from a complete stop. He called me to explain this and referred me to Chris at Auto Doctors who he said he has worked with before and that he believed the issue could be a part of the ABS system. He asked if I am okay with him delivering the vehicle to them to have them look into it a bit.I got a call from Chris after I ahd them drop the vehicle off, and he said they think the issue was fixed by removing the wheel speed sensor and cleaning the sensor which was quite dirty and wasnt properly picking up the vehicles speed which in turn was causing the ABS to kick in and force the breaks on. I told him Id pay for the fixes ($60) and take the vehicle back to drive it around a bit more and now getting home with it the vehicle is running as it should. (so far, I will update if anything comes up)I am happy with the work and professionalism of both Fargo Automotive and Transmission as well as Auto Doctors. This review was not asked for or incentivized in any way shape or form. I just really appreciate a place that can make you feel like a valued customer and not just another quick buck. I will go back to both shops for future repairs.

Called multiple places to price check, happened to come across Al’s number from a good friend. I Happened to call him on his off time yet he was still very professional. He quoted $400 cheaper then everywhere else to rebuild my 4l60e with a 2 day turn around. So I Took my truck to him because my 3rd to 4th gear clutches were burnt out, and he called me 2 days later to come pick it up and it was like driving a new truck.. couldn’t have been any more happy.. he even warranties his work for a year so that was icing on the cake.. will definitely be hanging on to his number for future reference
