I stopped at PerKup after seeing high ratings on my cross country trip.I went with the Chicken Parm omelet and a side chocolate chip pancake. The pancake was amazing and came with plenty of butter and syrup. The omelet was large but was average in taste. Something didnt mix well. My server was attentive but didnt tell me that my side of sauce was an extra fifty cents. I wouldnt mind, but the sauce wasnt that good and the waitress suggested it.So, great quick service. Would visit again and try a different sandwich or just a large stack of pancakes.

Loved it. Atmosphere felt like the family small town diner. Food was really good. Service was super friendly. So much to try already excited about my next trip.

We stopped here for a fun breakfast on our way exploring around town. The food was delicious. My eggs were cooked perfectly and the buttermilk biscuit was a delightful treat. There are lots of coffee options and plenty of tasty baked goods. The real winners of the meal were the homemade pineapple jam which was divine! Be sure to get some of this stuff or you are missing out. The revenge sauce on the croissant sandwich was also absolutely delectable with a hint of spicy and a ton of creaminess. The service was very attentive and friendly. If we are back in this area we will definitely visit again.

This unassuming restaurant serves the most amazing breakfast I have had in a very long time. As you can see they have a very extensive menu with lots of great dishes. I asked the waitress what they are known for or what she recommends. She quickly pointed us to the biscuits and gravy and french toast. Everything we ordered was hot and delicious and seasoned perfectly. I do want to call out that they have the best hash browns I have ever had! They are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just amazing. We are planning another trip back again soon but this time we want to try their lunch options.

Dont forget about this lovely restaurant nestled in Urbandale! Open 6 days a week for breakfast and lunch. Closed on Mondays.On this visit they only had one table left which I snagged. My server Ann was a rock star. Quick, nice, knowledgeable, and everything I like in a server.I chose the Mama Mia omelet with hashbrowns and French toast. I could go on for days about how good they all were. Fresh, tasty, filling, pleasing to the eye, smelled wonderful, and FAST! I think it was less than 10 minutes from the time I ordered until I received my food.Ann checked in a couple of times, brought me separate to go boxes so my omelet and French toast wouldnt cross contaminate. LOL. I ate every bite of the hashbrowns that were PERFECTLY crisp.Total was $15. I will get 2 full meals from it. Restaurant and bathroom clean. I have been here maybe 5 times? Every time had something different, and every time it has been great.

This is one of my favorite places to get breakfast in town. From their amazing coffee selection to their food. Great biscuits and gravy and crispy hash browns. They make a great latte and cafe mocha. Also they have the best French toast in town. Either the blueberry or apple you can’t go wrong.

The hype is real! Have been twice and both times didnt disappoint. Friendly team, fun vibes, and awesome tasty food. Hands down best breakfast spot in the area.

The service was good in a very quaint location I got the breakfast BLT and I was not enthused I only ate half of it as the bread is grilled on a greasy griddle versus in a toaster probably not a repeat for me.

The food wasnt served very good as the hamburger had nothing on it. It meat cheese a hamburger bun there was a side dish that I ordered of coleslaw which was the best part of the meal. They dont serve onion rings or french fries. Had to ask for stuff to put on the hamburger and only got salad dressing no lettuce or tomato it even a slice of pickles. Just the meat cheese and bum.I got the dressing but had to ask for it. And the hamburger was dry as was the bum. Sorry but it wasnt to my liking.

This was our first time visiting Iowa. We Googled places to eat for breakfast and chose this place from several other options. This place was wonderful. Its definitely a hidden jewel.The food was good and the service was flawless. Our waitress was Caressa M. and she was very kind, patient, smiled, and checked in often to see if we needed anything. We highly recommend this place and wish we had a percup cafe in our state. Thanks Caressa for making our day start off great!🙂

Hidden gem!!! Looked online for good hash browns and this place came up in search. Came here with my wife and we were NOT disappointed. Great portions, great service, great atmosphere, great food!! Haley was our server and was great! I recommend this place and we will be back!!

The Kick it Up Omelette was quite delicious. They use fresh sliced Jalapeños which was a surprise that added some serious spice. The revenge sauce is a nice balance of Chipotle creme inside the omelette that mellows the heat of the fresh sliced Jalapeños and adds a nice smokey flavor. Id order it again, nice spot weve frequented multiple time now when weve been to Des Moines. A+ Breakfast Spot!!

Solid! My girl and myself are on a journey to eat at every breakfast place in Des Moines. We wanted to go to a new place but too long of a wait.We usually get basic Breakfast. 2 eggs over easy, hashbrowns, meat, and toast. If you cant do that. I dont want to eat fro. The rest of your menu.She had the basic and love it. I had the Marshall. The blueberry French tost is crispy and delicious. Eggs cooked perfectly.Only criticism is that the hashbrowns could of been thicker and the Marshall came with bacon that I could hold up like a diving board.Our cappuccino and mocha were amazing. Served in large cups. Loved it.I consider this a place that we go to when we go some where and have a wait. We know less waiting and quality breakfast.

We visited PerKup Cafe on a Saturday morning around 8:30. It was fairly busy but not out of hand. There was a wait when we left around 9:15. A little girl sat us which was really cool and shows the true meaning of a family owned restaurant. The food was awesome, with highlights being the revenge sauce and apple cinnamon French toast. They had a very intriguing hash brown taco as well. They also have a full coffee bar to serve lattes and specialty drinks which was a great change of pace. We had never been before today, but will definitely be returning!

I love PerKup! Its honestly one of my favorite and most recommended restaurants in Des Moines. The Mama Mia omelette is my go-to, but Ive never been disappointed. The $5 breakfast bread appetizer is also amazing!!

Unable to reach anyone by phone. Ordered two soups today and they were not that good. I’ve been ordering to go through this whole pandemic and the service was wonderful but right now I do not like not being able to place an order by phone or reach someone to find out why something taste different

Heard a lot of favorable comments from friends and the place exceeded everything I heard. Carry out this time, chicken sandwich and a salad, but next time Im staying for one of their breakfasts

Just discovered this little local gem! Very cozy and the staff was super nice! I ordered the half chicken salad croissant with Pasta Cucumber salad....SUPER yummy!

This is seriously one of the best hidden gems in Iowa. The staff are friendly and its family owned and operated. The food is absolutely amazing and you dont have to deal with that Diner smell or dirty floors. It is by far the cleanest and most eccentric Cafe in all of Iowa.

Our favorite breakfast place in Des Moines area. We go every weekend. Lines may seem long but they go pretty fast. We always get a crake roll and Monte Crisco and lattes are pretty dang good!

Restaurant accommodates a variety of group sizes, and offers booster seats and high chairs for children.The food was fantastic - especially the french toast. Nothing terribly fancy, just good food and a nice atmosphere. The menu has something for everyone with several ala carte options that are sure to please anyone. Menu is appropriately priced, and the bottomless coffee always hits the spot. Service was prompt and friendly, reflective of the family-run business. Great place to start the day.

The food was excellent! Service was great! My only negatives were that we weren’t offered more coffee when our cups were pretty empty and there was little to no social distancing. My chief complaint is that what appeared to be the owner was sans mask most of the time. That was disappointing when the sign on the door says that there is a mask mandate issued by the Governor of Iowa....

In their defense, it is very hard to find a place that cooks them through like I like them. Have only ever found a couple of places.

First time going. I met up with a friend I hadnt seen in forever. We ordered a full meals and the waitress was good. The food was good but the table hostess kept coming by our table after and picking up anything she could before finally telling my friend shed get her a to go cup because people were waiting. Basically kicking us out. No one was waiting and there was another empty booth nearby. Ill never go back

I have been going to this breakfast place with my family for a long time. Perkup is hands down the best breakfast place I’ve ever been to. I especially love their hash browns and their croissant sandwich. Just a really great place to go for a casual breakfast.

If you live in des moines and have not been here yet, and you enjoy breakfast and large coffee menus, the only question to ask you is; Why havent you been here yet??? Amazing food, amazing food selection, and staff are the friendliest around. No joke, these people are helpful and attentive. The food is straight up home cooking and legit diner/breakfast food. My wife enjoyed the large selection of coffee options. The breakfast appetizer is a must, youll thank me.

The wait was a whopping ten minutes at lunch rush for a seating of 5. Our orders varied greatly. When we got one order slightly over done they immediately fixed it. The food was homemade and fantastic. The biscuits and gravy was phenomenal and the gravy was from scratch. Will be returning

Our group of 4 were seated after a short wait. Drinks were ordered and received quickly. Waitress was pleasant but did seem to have issues entering our order into her handheld computer and we received our breakfast appetizer before the meals even though we told her twice we wanted it out at same time as everything else. Food was very good and filling. Very large omelets, hashbrowns crisp like I like them and those who had french toast said it was excellent. Would definitely go back.

Put a big table together quickly. Drinks were fast, so were refills. Food came out quick, hot and most importantly delicious. Toddler and baby friendly. Our server was wonderful, clearly a pro. Very happy with everything.

Food was great. We got the special stuffed French toast. It was heavenly. The outside was crispy, the inside was fluffy and soft. Theres just enough sweetness to it thats not overpowering. The menu is pretty diverse and the prices are decent.

Excellent breakfast! I had the Jake (-onions & peppers) with bacon, it was delicious. I also enjoyed the strawberry/pineapple homemade jam on sourdough toast. My cousin enjoyed the Grilled Ham & Cheese on sourdough with a cup of the amazing cheeseburger soup. Caressa is an awesome server plentiful refills of our delicious iced tea. Prompt and courteous service well worth our 20 minute wait.

Best hash browns and omelette Ive had in Des moines! Staff were courteous, waiting time to be seated was low (~10 min on a Sunday noon), food was ready in ~10 min even when restaurant was filled 90% to its capacity, to top it all, taste was excellent.. highly recommend this place for a weekend brunch! 🍳

The service is very good, the restaurant is clean and has a nice atmosphere. I had the loaded omelet, which consists of sausage, mushrooms, onions and peppers. What it lacked in flavor it made up for in volume. I had two seasoned with salt and pepper at the table, which I am not a big fan of. This was just my first time at this Cafe, so I will have to go back and give it a try for lunch.

Ive had several things off their breakfast menu and you really cant go wrong. Add the revenge sauce to whatever you get and also get the homemade jam with your toast, they have different flavors every day!

Friendly staff, food was filling and tasty. The caramel macchiato was tasty. Love coming here. Always be sure to give yourself plenty of time, its a popular place.
