Definitely make it a point to visit this one of a kind bookstore where the owner can help you find any book you are looking for. She went back.in her stacks and brought me the exact paperback I had been trying to find for months. Not available anywhere online and she had it!

My husband, son and I went to this bookstore a few years ago and are still laughing about the bizarre experience we had. My bookstore loving husband cannot resist a bookstore and saw some rando sign on the side of the road and of course wanted to go. We pulled up to the trailer which is in a sort of neighborhood and after a few minutes an old lady came slowly down some stairs from a house on a hill above it. I said to my husband “looks like you’re buying something hahaha”. My son and I stayed in the car while my husband went inside (this is before we had seen the reviews). At one point he had to follow the owner into her house to pay for his overpriced choices. I told my son “well, that’s the last time we’ll ever see your dad” as he disappeared into her house. Thankfully he came out and when he got back in the car our car battery had died. It was like plot of a horror movie. She gave us such a stink eye when we did not immediately leave. Thankfully another patron arrived to jump the car. Avoid this place although it’s almost a destination at this point- you think, could it be as bad as the reviews? Yes, yes it is. The store is so jam packed my husband said he could barely fit down the aisles and he is not a big guy. The books are sadly rotting away in a nasty, wet moldy trailer and are ridiculously overpriced. We paid $60 for a few Phyllis Whitney paperbacks that never lost their mildewy smell. I can’t believe she’s still in business! 5 stars for the experience as someone else said in their review but 1 star for the store.

I gave 1 star only because I couldn’t give lower.Books were stacked haphazardly - several stacks fell over while I was looking.Lights don’t work in the whole building - it was literally dark as night in one corner no windows and lights were out.The biggest negative is that even if I had found something in the haphazard, dark, narrow aisles (there are probably some treasures hidden!) I wouldn’t have even bought it because everything was mildewed and moldy. I wouldn’t want to bring that back into my own bookshelves.y husband said when I got back into the car that I smelled like mildew. Ew.The owner was nice, prices were reasonable enough, but the growth... nope! Not good for anybody!

Absolutely astounding collection of books here. this isnt your typical chic bookstore peddling topical trash. This is a labyrinthian maze of books for the bonafide book lover. diligent searching will reward you with great finds, i.e. first editions of celebrated novels and so fourth. The occasional avalanche of perilously stacked books is a feature, not a bug. Best bookstore around--Ive no idea why the other reviews are so mediocre.

Very cramped and difficult to find anything. There are paper signs everywhere trying to let you know what kind of books are there, but it is impossible to even see what the books are with how high the stacks go. There were even signs saying odd things about you going to hell if you steal a book. I’d say it was interesting to see floor to ceiling stacks of books, but I was feeling very uneasy with how tiny the aisles were. Just too hazardous.

Stay AWAY! It is the nastiest store ever. The books are piled floor to ceiling and damp/molded. The books smell terrible. There is NO room to even walk down an aisle. I walked down 1 aisle and said time to leave! Im never going back. Its a major fire risk and health risk due to mold.

After scrounging around on my hands and knees in a suffocating corner to find a complete set of Harry Potter books, the owner asked me for an outrageous price. I denied, and she went on to ask me why I couldn’t just use my credit card. She was very rude and wouldn’t negotiate her high prices at all. You can tell that she is a hoarder and has no interest in actually selling her books. Did get a few cool pics, but not worth the trip.

FIRE HAZARD! FIRE MASHAL SHOULD INSPECT. Dishonest shop keeper. She verbally promised a price of $1 each if I purchased 10 45 RPM records. She would not honor her verbal commitment and said I would have to buy 20 to get the $1 each deal. DISHONEST AND A LIAR! I spent an hour looking through a hoarders nightmare pile of dust and filth. Look at the images, there is a reason there are so many books. They come in but don’t go out.

Just visited this location yesterday and the reviews are very accurate. Owner could eliminate 1/2 the books and make it a more enjoyable experience. You can’t access 80% of the material the way it is stacked. Not worth the trip

Me and my daughters went there to look for the book Alice in wonderland and the lady said she had it somewhere but i dont know where it would be in all that junk. Its all just old books that you shouldnt buy. You shouldnt go there your better off getting a book from a junkyard it would definitely be better quality. And the prices are outrageous I dont think its cause she needs the money she has a nice house which is next to the store I think she just needs to learn to part with them.

Review №23

I am always willing to revise a review, but this is sadly a one star until there is marked improvement at this business. The aisles are difficult to navigate (certainly a hazard in the event of an emergency), the prices were unreasonably high in a few cases, and all of the signs regarding shoplifting (including one with a threat to shoot a shoplifter rather than let the law handle matters) make for an unpleasant atmosphere. I am sure that there are hidden gems in this book store but shoppers shouldnt have to move three stacks of books to get to a fourth hidden stack where the good stuff is located.

Went here looking for Harry Potter books and she charged me 32.00!!!! For 3 old, stained, used PAPERBACK books. I needed them for my sons book report and I am from a small town and couldnt get to a book store where you can buy them for 9.99 NEW so unfortunately had to pay. I feel totally ripped off and taken advantage of. I would have went in more often and probably would have spent quite a bit of money there but I will never go again and I will warn everyone to stay away. This place is RIDICULOUS! Dont waste your time... STAY AWAY! Crooks!!

The only bargain about this place is just the sheer fun two people can have while trying to figure out how someone can collect so many ratty books and expect to sell them for outrageous prices. I got down on my hands and knees at one point to explore the fantasy/sci-fi section and discovered, to my horror, that the 80s-something-or-other nasty carpet was slightly damp. I shouldnt have gotten down that low anyway. Its a miracle the bookcase didnt crash down on top of me. At any rate, Im fairly certain I encountered at least three otherworldly beings in that bookshop and Im lucky to have escaped with my life. Also, theres a portal to hell! I took a picture and uploaded it (its the one with the nasty carpet thingy hanging over the dark entryway). 10/10 would recommend to the adventurous.

A real rip off...I feel only the need to warn others that this store should be avoided... It is ridiculously overpriced, musty, smelly and even a bit dangerous. Mary charges her customers above cover price for old worn out paperbacks that you can find elsewhere for much less. There has been flooding damage more than once here so many of the books are stained and moldy... She often accuses people of stealing when they are innocent and can be very rude at times as well.Just avoid going here...

Very crowded and difficult to maneuver. 95% of the store was dark, so I was unable to explore. Im sure she has good finds, but she needs to lower her prices and have some sort of organization. Most of the aisles you wont be able to get down if youre even the least bit overweight. Theyre just too narrow.
