Love at first sight! I am so happy I went to Thompson Audi. David Leclair is incredibly helpful & friendly with a no-pressure approach. He spent a lot of time going through the car with me and was so helpful in answering my questions. The buying process was easy and he explained all the numbers very clearly. Im so thrilled with my new Audi and I feel like I have an excellent grasp of all the cool things it can do! Thank you David, I highly recommend you and the Thompson dealership.

I have been going here for service for a few years. I have always walked away knowing that my car was taken care of. I recently decided to upgrade to an SUV. It was a quick low pressure process that exceeded my expectations. Even though my vehicle wasn’t ready that day to be taken home, Frank kept me up to date on the progress every step of the way. I am a very happy customer.

The salesman was there when we needed him; kept his distance when we didn’t. Treated us like royalty. We shopped here first and last for a slightly used Passat. We got a great car but it was Frank’s professionalism and respect that sealed the deal. Strongly recommended.

My vehicle was diagnosed as needing a new vacuum pump and harness. They ordered them and they came in two weeks later. The quote I was given for the vacuum pump, harness and labor was $1200. A week and a half after they got the parts I was called and they told me it was done. I went in expecting to pay $1200 for the parts and labor. I was told the vehicle had not needed a vacuum pump after all -- they needed to replace just the vacuum supply line which cost $43.00. The cost of the repair was just $273.00! I was shocked! This service department has an immense sense of integrity. I know other service departments, after ordering a part that cost $650., would have put the part on the vehicle rather than admit to the owner that there was a misdiagnosis. I have owned a lot of older cars that needed work done in my 50 years of driving and never has a mechanic come back and told me the cost would be less, if there was a difference in price, it was always more than the quote. Thank you for being so honest and trustworthy. This is why I take my VW Beetle to Thompsons VW.

Sold me a 2007 Honda Accord with a bad catalytic converter and refused to do anything but clear the check engine light because its not a state inspection problem(despite the check engine light coming back on, which makes the car unable to get a sticker) and it will still roll down the road. The warranty is vague enough to protect them from fixing the problems that cost them too much money, because I could just as easily argue that that returning check engine light will prevent my car from receiving a sticker, but they evade that when I bring it up. My future car purchases will be made through dealerships that are committed to the cars they sell not rolling off the lot with problems.UPDATE 8/15: More than 9 months later Im still dealing with the complications caused by the lemon of a car they sold me. My advice to anyone would be to be extremely cautious when buying a car from Thompsons because they were eager to cover up a known issue and fought hard to not go right on a clearly warrantied issue.

I needed to purchase a replacement OEM key for my Audi. They are quite expensive and must be acquired at, and coded by, a dealer. Even though Thompson is a bit further I ordered my key through them. There was a little snafu with a difference between a price quoted and price on arrival but they were great about fixing that issue. I was greeted promptly and courteously and the new key prepared within twenty minutes of my arrival. This is what a small town dealer gets you - the personal touch.

Great place to if your looking to buy a car. Locally owned and operated. The owner was on site and spoke with us. They salesman wasnt high pressure, he was respectful and knowledgeable as well. I had a wonderful experience with the service department here at Thompson Volkswagen Audi Mazda. I called to schedule an appointment to diagnose a check engine light. They scheduled me in for an appointment the next day, even though it was a busy week for them. The problem was diagnosed and fixed within four hours, and the price of the repairs was very reasonable. The mechanics were considerate and professional, and even gave me a ride to and from work while my car was being fixed. I was very pleased with the service that I received and highly recommend the service department here.

I bought a used 2009 Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan with 117,016 miles from Sales Rep. Jeremy Finch in March of 2017. I paid a fair price for the car, advertised to be in excellent condition.Less than two weeks after I purchased the car I had a rough cold start issue diagnosed as bad intake valves. The car wouldnt even start in weather below 32 degrees due to low compression issues caused by the valves. I contacted the dealership, and talked to Jeremy about my issue and he refused to even consider fixing the car. This is a $2200 job that I got stuck with just two weeks after I purchased the car. While I was asking questions about the car prior to purchase, I asked if the clutch had ever been replaced. Jeremy said it had in fact been replaced. The Saab now has 119,844 miles and it has been diagnosed with a blown clutch. I have babied this car, and I am experienced at operating a car with a manual transmission. This repair requires nearly $1000 worth of parts, and the R&R of both the engine and transmission. A Saab Specialist would charge upwards of $2500 for this job.I am very disappointed with the the quality of service, and the quality of the car I received here. Please save yourselves the trouble, and dont buy a car from Thompson Volkswagen Audi Mazda, and NEVER buy a car from Jeremy Finch.

My girlfriend bought a car from Thompsons in August and had great buying experience working with Jeremy. He was great to work with and made us feel relaxed and at home. My girlfriend loves her car and we were treated so well that I came back looking for a new car. I found a Mazda 6 GT i and had the pleasure of working with Jeremy again. I couldnt be more pleased my experience. Both times Mark Thompson, the owner, sat with us and talked with us. He remembered us by name. We are both in our early twenties and were treated as adults unlike my experience with other dealers. This Mazda 6 is exactly what Ive been looking for! I plan on doing business with Thompsons for years to come! Thanks Jeremy and Mark!

We called the service department about an oil change for our 2020 Q5 and after being placed on hold briefly to check, the service desk said it would be free, no charge. We brought it in and were charged $75 for the oil change, they didn’t budge on that. Typical I suppose.

Unfortunately I brought my Audi A8 in for an expensive recall. Thompson said the repair would be 2 days. They had it 4 and one half days to be precise. They gave me a loaner car that was a total crapper. The real issue is that while they were repairing my car one of the flex pipes broke. Now mind you, if there was no recall, the flex pipe would be fine. But Thompson broke it and had to repair it. No parts involved, just one hour repair and I was charged $99.00. I can only assume that it had to be welded in some capacity. I tried to explain that if Audi did not have a recall, my flex pipe would not have been disturbed. Thompson reply was that Audi will not pay for that repair. The parts and labor for the recall was over $4500.00, not a bad days pay for them. However, Thompson took the small mans position and charged me thus alienating a customer in the process. In reality, Thompson really only had to pay the tech under $20.00 for the job. How cheap is that? I have 2 Audis, an A6 and anA8. Time to go to Darlings in Bangor. Same distance for me.

Took my 2009 Jetta in on a Tuesday because it would not start. Wednesday was told it needed a new starter and something for the glow plugs. Was told the parts had to be ordered and if they were in on Friday it would be ready Friday night. Parts arrived on Friday but the car was not ready, actually was not even started on. Told them I needed it done on Saturday. Was not done. Finally picked the car up on Monday night. Wednesday night went to put something in the trunk and saw that the splash guard for under the engine was in there. Also saw there was greasy hand prints all over the drivers side interior (white) A pillar. Took the car back and they installed the splash guard and cleaned the hand prints, but did not offer an apology. Will never go back there again for service or sales.

I must say that reading the negative reviews really surprises me. My family and I have bought many used cars at Thompson Volkswagen Audi Mazda and have always had great service. Recently bought a brand new vehicle and the service and experience was great. I have been to other dealerships and bought vehicles and I have not experienced anything better than the service, professional, honest, and caring staff at Thompsons VW, Audi Mazda. Steve my sales person is the best, the owner Herb is just an awesome person and really cares about his customers. Great experience, if you have not been here, I recommend you give them a try. Typical slimy dealership saying what they will to make sales. Had an appointment to see a vehicle. Was assured beforehand that an old man, a pastor at that, was the one and only owner, drove it lightly, and that it was a nonsmoking vehicle. Dealership put ZERO effort into truck presentation - upon lifting the mat in the bed of the truck, I found approximately a gallon of construction debris (nails, sheetrock, broken glass, etc), as well as the normal wear and tear signs of someone using a truck heavily for work. Upon telling the salesman, David Leclair, he became incredulous and said it wasnt his fault, and I shouldnt even bring it up. Dude - Im thinking about spending $20,000 with you. Present the item with a little respect. Then, of course, the vehicle reeks - I was blasted with cigarette smell upon test driving and using the air. Clutch on a 2012 truck was VERY sticky - informed David, who seemed to not care, and of course said hed look at it and get back to me (Ill give you one guess if that happened). Finally, there was indeed another owner before the old man pastor who drove it lightly, proven by a carfax and admitted by the salesman. If you can find the right vehicle and do your own due diligence, Im sure this place is fine, but dont rely on honesty from the sales staff or a used vehicle you wont find warts on.UPDATE*** The owner responded to my review - please note he was hardly able to address any of the legitimate and serious concerns about the experience I had here besides the smoking vehicle, and instead chooses to point a finger at me for painting an entire industry with a single brush. Which I do not - I am very specific about my customer service problems I experienced. How many cars do I need to buy from you guys before I am allowed to write a review, Mark? 2? 8? How about instead of coming after customers who have a bad experience, you guys run a tighter ship and take some feedback? Nothing I said was not a legitimate concern for someone looking to spend $20,000 at your business. Take it seriously. My rec? DO NOT GO HERE. Look at how they treat customers.

Recently moved to the area after using a different Mazda dealer for all maintenance for the first 60K miles in my Mazda 6. I will admit I didnt inquire about cost. The service was timely, but I was unpleasantly surprised when I received the bill for almost $80 for an oil change and tire rotation. At my previous dealer that was at most a $50 charge and $40 with a coupon. Also they said that my brakes would be needing change soon, the old dealer said $200-$250 for that, their estimate started at $350 and could go higher! Needless to say I will not be going back there.

Just purchased a 2015 VW Passat TDI at Thompson. Salesman was Dave Leclair. I contacted most of the VW Dealers in Maine (Using web site of each) with a very specific request: 2-4 year old VW Passat TDI trim level not important, low miles.Only Thompson did not bombard me with other cars that were close but not what i asked for.My credit is not a problem for me so that part of the process was easy. I was not trading anything in either.I hate haggling, I feel Dave was honest with a number based on Kelly Blue book so I did not dicker. All round if you are honest with the folks at Thompson they are honest with you.I would recommend them to anyone that wants a small dealer experience vs the Walmart experience of other dealers near by.
