We just had a great online shopping experience with this company. I requested a clarification by email and got a prompt & pragmatic response. I placed the order and the correct bottles were delivered the same day with the correct message for the recipient. It sounds simple enough but many times things are not that smooth, starting with getting a an email reply.

Excellent price and service! I ordered a special bottle of champagne for my anniversary- MacArthur Beverages had the best price in town, and delivered it free of charge less than 24 hours later. Friendly delivery driver who respected COVID safety protocol. Will definitely order from them again.

MacArthur... this is a great neighborhood liquor store that is good to its long-standing clients.

I called and asked if they had a product and they claim they did. I drove for 15min to get to them and upon arrival a guy took my credit card and left me standing outside in the middle of an ice storm for 5-10min and then came out to say they didn’t have the product. He then took my credit card again for another 5min until he came out and I asked to speak to a manager. A supposed manager came out and said the store is supposed to be closed, closed the door in front of me and left. This is the absolute worst customer service and a waste of time. They couldn’t even tell me who answered the phone and claimed no responsibility.

MacArthur has some of the best selection of wine in the Washington area, and within the city of Washington probably is the best for variety and expert knowledge. Their online ordering is really smooth and theyre good about contactless pickup.

An institution for DC wine. Home grown and local merchant all the way. And the vast selection and knowledge of many of their staff is out of this world. This is the kind of place where you can go and ask for a recommendation for a wine for almost anything and from anywhere in the world.Oh and the prices are very very reasonable too! They give the big box retailers like Total wine a good run for the money. And with added personalized service in a local neighborhood atmosphere to beat. Easy parking on the street within 2 blocks or so

Please mention that the shop is not open for customers to enter. I travelled half an hour to get there only to find that I have that I have to buy first online and 48hrs in advance! There was no update on their modified schedule and their Google page says they re open 10-6

This spot used to be my go to. I’m not sure what happened, but in the past few months all of their new liquor additions have had their prices jacked way up past what they used to. Part of the reason I loved this spot was that they always seemed to have a unique selection and almost always had a sign that read “best price in the city!” That wasn’t a baseless boast either, it really was superb prices. Last couple times I went in the shelves weren’t nearly as well kept and the prices had risen significantly.Looks like I’ll have to find a new monthly spot.I’ve kept my original 5 star review below.———————————————Popped in on a lark. Thought I might find a decent scotch. This place has a modest collection, but boy has it been curated well. All of the usual suspects as well as rare and hard to find scotches, and I think they have the best scotch prices in the DMV, easily. The staff were awesome and talked to me about each rare selection. This is going to be my new monthly shop.

I just ordered 12 bottles of 2015 Caparzo Brunello at their advertised price but once I placed the order, I got a call from the store saying that it was a price was a mistake and will not honor the advertised price. Not a very good experience from a customers point of view.

Its always a pleasure to do business with MacArthur. The wine selection is superb and the staff have tremendous knowledge and discrimination. They are also, simply, lovely people!

The best selection of small grower and unique wines that you will find in DC along with great prices. They dont have as many mass produced cheap wines as some other places but they usually have the best price in the DC area on their stock. They also tend to leave you alone so that you can take your time and look, so if you are expecting overbearing service you wont get it here. If you have a question they are great at recommendations, so go ahead and ask, they usually have plenty of people to help.

Ive been a customer for years and they have a great selection of wine and liquor but its hard to get help. Staff are not easily identified, they stand around talking among themselves while customers try to figure out who works there in order to ask questions and recommendations.Once identified, staff can come across as arrogant and snobbish.

The website isnt clear on the difference between shipping and delivery, and therefore the final price is not correct. My receipt shows 0$ for delivery, but I was charged $22 because delivery is only for local addresses. Who knew?

Great selection and prices. Among my top go-to stores for liquor. Sadly, -1 star: On last visit i noted some “aging” IPAs and the Apple Pay/contactless payment system didn’t work. Seriously: get a POS that works; you’re losing sales.

The selection here is one of the best in the city. Speaking from the spirits perspective, this place has one of the most extensive selections of single malts, bourbon, whiskeys, gins, liqueurs, etc! The staff is knowledgeable and the prices are pretty competitive.

Great selections of beer, wines, and spirits! We stopped in after lunch at nearby Kotobuki, and we ended up browsing for quite awhile. They have wines from all over the world, including France, Italy, Germany, Spain, New Zealand, and much more. If you need help choosing a wine, there are plenty of wine consultants at the store to help you out. Theres a large selection of beer too from all over the globe including local breweries like DC Brau. All the spirits you can imagine, from bourbon to gin to cognac. Impressive range of whiskies from Macallan 21 year to Colonel E.H. Taylor to Redemption Barrel. The prices are very, very reasonable especially compared to some of the other liquor stores in the area.After much perusing, we ended up purchasing their last bottle of the 10 year Whistle Pig rye whiskey, which was only $73. At the ABC store in Virginia, the same bottle of Whistle Pig costs over $90. The folks here at super friendly and helpful. Id recommend anyone looking for wine, beer, or spirits to drop by.
