My favorite place to buy wine in DC. They have unusual Latin based wines that are a nice treat away from the old world classics that flood the DC market. Go expo something new. The staff are very helpful and easy talk to about their passion.

One of my favorite wine stores. I live in Leesburg, VA and still make the drive to this store. Their wines are not just from Latin America. They have a great selection from Spain too. And not just wines! After visiting Spain I fell in love with vermouth and Grand Cata has a great selection of them. They also have a limited selection of food to purchase.Everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable. They also have a wine club you can join. I highly recommend this place!

Latin wines from various Latin countries. I bought a Chilean and Argentinian wine and I cant wait to sip! They have a wine club that meets on Fridays and the store manager was super helpful!

Good place but sadly the website for online ordering is confusing. Food options not available at get 7th street location. Wine and beer options online are hard to choose since I’m not familiar with the wines and there’s no description.

My fiancé and I dont live in the area but we walk the 2 miles every other week or so to buy some bottles. They have a great selection at every price point. The staff is so knowledgable, friendly, and you can tell they are passionate about their jobs--it makes me that much more excited to try whatever they recommend! I will continue to shout this stores praises to everyone I know, it deserves it!

What a cool wine shop! As soon as I walked through the doors I was greeted by a couple people who were eager to give me a run down of all their wines - separated by European and American wines. Their choices are expansive but still understandable and theyre so helpful with picking a fun choice. Their price range is probably $15 and up so this isnt a spot to come for a casual and easy wine, but youll be very happy with what you get here.

As soon as I walked into this store I was given a quick tour of the wines. Once I saw that they had the wine I was looking for, the owner/staff member quickly showed me to other wines by the same producer. Everyone was friendly and SUPER helpful. I will definitely be back!

They even give you ten percent off on bottles you buy the same day if you schedule and pay for a tasting! We split the bill and it wound up being about 25 bucks a person. The tasting was amazing, he walked us through tasting steps, history of the wines, told us about the regions and vinters, and what kinds of flavors to look for.If you love vermouth, they also have an extensive selection! This shop has a bit more than just wine, so definitely take a look if youre in the neighborhood.

I was drawn to Grand Cata when researching a local place to buy (and try) natural wines. This place really surprised me (in a good way), not only with a solid variety of naturals, (which are hard to find) but also with a well curated selection of wines from all over Latin America (both new and old world - so from Spain and Portugal, to Mexico, Peru, and more).We went in on a Sunday afternoon, and found the two men working to be super knowledgable, and really enjoyed the samples they offered, allowing us to taste some of the bottles before we bought. Ended up leaving with 6 bottles, trying some grapes I havent tried before bit that came highly recommended and stocking up on some California wines, as well.

Beautiful and bright shop in Shaw that offers a wide variety of interesting and unique wines as well as beer and liquor.I say unique because the owners are very passionate about their products and each visit is a learning experience into the background and intricacies of the wines sold.This is reinforced by the daily tastings offered, where I have tried many wines that I would not even think to buy or have been exposed to.All in all, a very enjoyable experience and a wonderful addition to the Shaw neighborhood.

Helpful employees and nicely curated wine selection

Stopped in while in D.C. for work specifically looking for beer from the Nicaragua Craft Beer Co. and I left with not 1 but 2 cases and 6 bottles of wine! The owner was the nicest guy and the cashier went above and beyond to help me! If you do well with a lot of options and like to learn about your wine, this is the place for you! I’ll be back!

Cool latin bottle selection but they carry a lot of over priced table wine so when you go make sure you research the wine you want.

Great customer service -- theyre more than happy to talk to you about their selections and why they love them. Conveniently located on the 7th St bus lines and right off the Shaw metro.
