Two stars for having what I needed but that’s all I can give. The first butcher was incredibly rude and the meat was overpriced. It’s cheaper at their hyattsville location. A tutorial on customer service would help this location. A simple give me a second while I finish this not pretending you can’t hear is all that’s necessary
Like the others review mentioned, their customer service is lacking and they are very rude. It also very overpriced. I also waited over 10 minutes to talk to the meat counter but the guy just ignored me. I was originally in the area to go to Carribean Crescent but I saw this store after I left Carribean Crescent so I checked it out. I am very disappointed as I am Nigerian and I would like to support an African store but they are just too rude for me to return.
Really great place to get Nigerian/African foodstuff in DC. If theres something you miss from home, they probably have it.
Small grocery store serving West African foods. The meats are frozen, the prices are good, and the products often hard to find elsewhere. However, on my last visit, I was treated very strangely.I got a piece of meat from the freezer that didnt have a price tag. When I brought it to the cashier, she didnt know the price either, since its usually brought to the meat cutters, priced and cut up. A cutter came up, and slightly baffled I didnt want it cut. He paused for a moment and looked at the cashier oddly, and then just made up a price, $5, that was several times higher than the real price (based on similar cuts costing much less per lb). Im clearly not West African, and they just made up a high price to overcharge me. I refused the item. Then the cashier got very rude and demanded to see my license when I used my credit card, something Ive never had happen to me except when buying alcohol of course, and I wasnt buying alcohol at Afrik.Be very careful about buying things here without a price tag to make sure you dont get ripped off. Or just shop at Florida or Caribbean Crescent meats nearby.
Customer friendly staff. Clean store, couldnt get my dried catfish that took me there. I will always shop here.
Great place to shop your wholesale and bulk African foodstuffs. Moderate prices and friendly associates.
Helpful staff and customers with my cooking questions.
One would think that since this is the closest Nigerian food store to me, I would go here, but I go all the the way to the Afrik Store in Hyatsville because of the lack of customer service here. It’s none existent. I have been here several times and the last two was my last. Right in front of me, they laughed at a guy whose debit card got declined, it got to my turn too, my card got declined, and instead of figuring out that the problem may be from them, they were rude, asked me to keep everything I collected cos they can’t waste time on me since its past their closing time. I left, went to Wholefoods, just to try my card, paid and it went through.
I have not been for a while because the only time I go is one of my friends goes to the market
Nigerians have no sense of customer service at all. Very bad attitude at the counter. There was a time I went there and at the checkout, noticed that the receipt printed did not have an itemized list of items bought. I put my things at the side of the store to confirm that all the items I purchased were properly accounted for. That was over a year ago but anytime I go there, they rub it in my face and behave like they are doing me a favor. Just the other day, one attendant even asked if I had enough money to make purchases today. I know this may be considered normal in environments like this but come on. I am a customer for Christ sake. Nigerians, we can do better. Im just patiently waiting for another African store to open up in the area. For now, Im still forced to make my 1 hour trip twice a month here; just to feel unwelcome.
Place to buy your different kind of african food items with friendly people working there.
A well stocked Nigerian food store, with friendly staff! I was able to find all the ingredients I needed for my dish!
African foods abound especially Nigeria stuff for people who are used to particular brand of food
Good supplies and most of the African food I want but customer service is none-existent!!! They act like customers are done a favor- rather than treat them the right way, with respect and courtesy!
Good place to shop for various African food items
Nigerians need to learn about customer service because they truly lack it at this store.
Nice
A little small and tight but you can pretty much buy most African food here.
Unfriendly staff working possibly under difficult conditions. Unfriendliness of staff may reflect customer attitudes of feeling entitled.
