Amazing place to enjoy great wine. The staff is really friendly and knowledgeable about the wine selection. Our waitress recommended us an amazing white wine. The avocado toasts are absolutely delicious
Excellent. All around. Not sure what the naysayers are on about, but the food was delicious and spot on. Wine selection fantastic. Servers kind and engaged.
Nice place, good quality wine choices. We have been there for a wine tasting event. It was interesting and worth the money. Service could have been better. I understand that it’s a family business. They spent good money on decorating the place and developing the menu etc. however, there is this lack of staff that kinda makes it somehow disturbing and I cannot explain how. Overall, it’s good wine food.
Im so full; I think it might become a problem. So good. Wine pairings were great, we shared a whole bunch of small plates. The folks at Cork are super friendly and knowledgeable. I wish I lived in DC. No I dont! The humidity and heat are nasty. I wish Cork was in Boulder instead. Ha! Take that DC, Im stealing Cork and putting them in my suitcase. Lol.
An amazing spot. Kareem was incredibly attentive and respectful at the same time. Definitely a favorite place to go. Well be back
Our server tonight, Kareem, was the absolute best. We had a wonderful meal, and his recommendations (the chicken and biscuits) definitely enhanced the meal. Kareem, thank you for being so great, and for being a shining star in a very weird year. Thank you. Cork, youre the best.
My husband and I came here for date night last night and ordered the brussels sprouts, fries, fried chicken, and biscuits. On top of that we had two glasses of red & rose that our excellent waiter, Kyle, recommend. From the hostess to the staff to the food, we had an EXCELLENT experience. Cork is making every effort to make this a safe and enjoyable experience during covid & we can’t wait to experience the terrace and indoor as well. Very blessed to have had this as an option so close to home.
Ended up here one night after being disappointed with Barcelonas wait time. Ended up really liking their service and wine selection. Strongly recommend.
Good wine selection and all the food was very good. The servers were a little overworked it seemed, and unlike some other small plates restaurants they didnt try to bring the food in an order that made sense (like lighter to heavier). Server made very good wine recommendations. We got the chefs choice cheese board and all the selections were excellent!
Super friendly hostess and server!! Definitely different from the past year reviews
Inaccurate hours online. Since COVID about half of the restaurants open have the wrong hours posted online. This is one of them.
I’ve been here many times both pre and during covid and always had a fabulous time. Amazing wines! I’ve always found the service to be really good. The staff is clearly trained on the wine offerings plus everyone there is so darn friendly. The food is good but the portions are a tad small. But this is definitely a go to spot for above average wine offerings in the neighborhood and tasty shareable snacks. Love it, recommend it, will continue to come back.
Excellent tapas style small plates. Great wine selection by the glass. Excellent service. Very cool atmosphere. It did get pretty noisy was the dining room was close to full, but that did not detract from our enjoyment of the whole experience. It was also a somewhat less expensive option than many of the restaurants we considered in the neighborhood. Highly recommended.
Good wine selection. Reasonable happy hour prices. Food looked good. Bartender was busy but was still friendly. Amazing people watching if you sit in the small bar at the front window.
Knowledgeable and very attentive service. Excellent selection of wines. The charcuterie board was fantastic. Really enjoyed the ambiance. Will gladly return.
Warm, inviting, total neighborhood feel. Unique and fun. Staff is incredible. Refreshing to find somewhere that resists the all too common hipster restaurant in a box mold. Real and authentic. Ricardo is the man.
This place was awesome! Came upon it while on a short visit to DC. What a find! Great, knowledgeable service, wonderful menu - especially for a picky eater like myself. Small plates to share. Other members of our party enjoyed the squid and octopus dishes, while the fresh kale, lamb chops and salads were off the chain!! Couldnt believe how filling everything was, but still made room for dessert! Had blueberry crisp to die for!! Our hosts promised to return, regularly, and we will definitely be back on our return to DC.
What a gem! The bartender Kareem had great taste in wine and was very sweet with us novice wine tasters. He gave us some great wines to try and did a great job of explaining the notes. I like the market idea, although I couldnt get anyones attention to buy anything. Sit in the back patio if you can, because its beautiful.
Was really expecting some good wine. When we got there and went upstairs (where the sign indicated to go upstairs for flights) we were told that to sit at a table we would need to speak with the hostess downstairs. So we head back down and speak with them and they say that we can’t sit at the tables upstairs but we are more than welcome to downstairs. So we sit at the table downstairs and after 15 minutes they proceed to tell us they don’t do flights downstairs. We head back up stairs. There are no seats available at the bar and the tables are open but we aren’t served there. So we basically left after 30 minutes having no wine and a terrible experience. Recommend going elsewhere.
Most horrible service I have ever had - EVER! Hostess was so rude because we asked to be moved from an 8 person table (there were only 4 of us) in the corner in the back room to a regular 4-top in the main part of the restaurant. Once we sat down, the waiter, as nice as he was, had no idea what he was doing - didnt know about any of the wines, was not on top of any of his tables. Brought over a bottle and forgot I ordered a flight. He came back again because his pen ran out of ink when he was first taking our order, so needed the order again. He then brought out the wrong food. Oh, and the restaurant ran out of bread!!!! We asked for another glass of the bottle ordered. It didnt come by the glass, so we ordered something similar. He came back with two glasses of wine, completely different than what we ordered because they ran out of the wine we asked for, and when we asked what type of wine it was, he said a sauvignon blanc I think, Im not sure? The OWNER came over and we explained that we didnt like the wine he randomly selected for us, and she was so rude, took it away in a huff. We then get the bill..... OVER $100 OVERCHARGED - FOR 3 GLASSES OF WINE WE NEVER ORDERED, THE WRONG FOOD HE BROUGHT OUT AND THE 2 GLASSES OF WINE THE OWNER TOOK AWAY FROM US! I asked the waiter to take care of it and whatever he felt necessary to compensate for the horrible service all night. The manager comes over - says shes taken off everything that we were overcharged for, wanted a thank you, and said instead of taking off ONE item from the bill for the experience, that we should not leave gratuity!!! I have never in my life heard of a manager preferring her staff to not make any tips rather than simply taking a dish off our bill. We were charged $285 for $167 worth of food and wine. The manager was so incredibly rude and made such a fuss about taking off anything from the bill and stood at our table and argued with us. Dumbfounded that the wait staff, manager, and owner were so horrible to their customers. Completely ruined our night.
Very cute and calm bar. If you want to drink good wine and discuss with friends without being overwhelmed by music that’s where you have to go. Last time I went they had a very good Sancerre (white wine) that I recommend. The bar also has a terrace in the back.
Diane and Khalids courage to go for it and open the wine bar and then the market transformed this neighborhood. I have been a huge fan since they opened. The food is excellent and the vibe is always perfect. The fried chicken at the market is the best as tested by all of my fried chicken connoisseurs. So many other places have opened up around it and this is where I always want to keep coming back. Enjoy the neighborhood from this place - youll get hooked.
Brought a few friends from out of town and we were excited to catch up over wine. After we sat ourselves, we proceeded to wait 20+ minutes for service. Unfortunately, nobody came over so I went to the bar and picked up a menu. We were in the mood for sparkling red (not on menu) so I then picked up a bottle from the fridge. I then asked the bartender if she could uncork and she responded no, you could only drink what was on the menu. The lack of service and ability to then order what we wanted despite it being readily available, led me to review this location with 1/5. We left immediately following the interaction and went to grab drinks at Compass Rose down the street and had a splendid experience.
Fantastic atmosphere, staff, and wine selection. Really like this place. The Fries are also amazing. I highly recommend Cork!
A good place for a close group of friends or a date. The wine list is excellent. The prices are on the high side, but you can find some good deals. I was disappointed they didnt have more Portuguese wine options. Regardless, they had about everything else for the wine selection. They do small plate style here. They call it something else since the portion sizes are bigger than other small plate restaurants. I still call them small plates that you can split amongst two for a few bites of each plate. The food was very tasty as I had an avocado platter, olives and sautéed mushrooms. Everything was good for the most part. The mushrooms were boring, so I would try something else. The waitress was friendly and the food came out in good timing. Ill comeback again for sure.
Incredible! So cozy and peaceful. Very lovely experience and will be back! Ricardo is a great bartender!
Overall a great wine and tapas bar. The atmosphere and service is stellar. The prices for wine were fair and the selection pretty limited for a Wine spot. The tapas they have are excellent, however they should expand to include some more seafood capable of pairing with briny whites. Overall a great place though.
This place is completely underrated. Our server Ricardo was awesome he really made our night! The braised beef and wine is amazing. Thanks
Another fantastic meal with friends at Cork. Just the right mix of familiar favorites and new treats. Made for the perfect celebrationl!
Its a bar that serves wine, but I wouldnt call this a wine bar in the normal sense. The wines I drank were pretty subpar (one was definitely corked), and while our bartender was nice, when I asked him how he got into wine, he answered that he didnt really like wine...Maxwell Park is a much better winebar and only a few blocks away.
Really nice wine selection. Excellent small, sharing plates. Go with friends. Knowledgable, friendly, and helpful staff.
This is the cutest wine bar! The small plates are perfect for sharing. I recommend the avacado toast, hamachi, and schnitzel and the wine pairings are a must! The owner and staff are super friendly and provide excellent service. I look forward to returning soon!
This place is a local treasure! A great spot for a glass of wine with friends, dinner, or for larger gatherings but still with an intimate setting.
Beautiful place, lots of wont to choose from.
I have been here multiple times and loved each time. The wines are amazing, and its such a calm atmosphere amongst the craziness that 14th Street can be. I havent been to the patio bar yet, its been too hot, but I look forward to coming back and trying it!
An amazing place for small plates and a wide selection of wine. They have a knowledgeable and friendly staff in my experience. There is a special treat that one can taste the tears of conservative snowflakes in every glass! Would recommend!
Awesome food and drinks. Highly recommend trying a wine flight (or two) at this neighborhood gem. Ignore the weird bad reviews; sad people are trying to tank the ratings of this wonderful spot. We are happy to support this restaurant-- they deserve it for both their food and wine list.
Fantastic food but too loud. I’ve been to the old location and the new one many times. Recently we went there for dinner a few times on a Friday and Saturday evening. It was registering 96-102 dB constantly on my phone’s hearing health app. Nearly impossible to maintain a convo upstairs and not good prolonged exposure for your hearing. The food has always been fantastic and the service is amazing! My recommendation is go only during less busy time so you can actually talk. The owner may want to test the space and add baffles to reduce the din.
We enjoyed a Really nice evening at Cork. The service was great including the hostess. Relaxing decor. I particularly liked the flavors of the chicken, sunchokes, and scallops. The scallops themselves were a little texturally soft for me but still delicious. The sunchokes were the best thing that I ate so I would recommend them with the seasonal pumpkin and squash salad. Definitely try out cork just remember that it is all small plates
Small but enticing offer...
Great place for fine wine in a warm, inviting space. I was here for a charity event and the place was packed. They have two floors with slightly different feels. Its a nice new space for the couple run wine joint.Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz
Cork is a small plates restaurant that is absolutely delicious. We asked our server for recommendations and nothing disappointed on the menu. We were able to walk right in but soon after, the place filled up and I can see why.
So anyone who doesnt give you the ratings you want gets your cut-and-paste reply that they didnt really eat there and are Trump fans? Wow! Youll never get better if you dont accept criticism. And Im not a Trump fan!
Cameron and Kedryn were awesome and they brought the wine to life. They showed us new vintages that allowed us to appreciate wine on a deeper level. Cheers Cork you knocked it out of the park with this staff.
The soft shell crab was unbelievable! I wish I had taken pictures of the food, but it all looked too good to waste any seconds photographing any of it. Everything was great, from start to finish! Thanks Cork!
Delicious food and wine. Great for a date night or group of friends.
We had a fantastic bartender Karim and he introduced us to some incredible wines! The avocado toast and cheeses and charcuterie were also fantastic.
Very nice wine selection to purchase by the glass and a large selection to purchased by the bottle. Smaller bites ( nice charcuterie selection) are also available must be tried. Oh yeah, staff is incredibly knowledgeable and attentive.
Cant believe I have not written a review to this place before. I have been here several times since 2010, and is one of my favorite wine bars/restaurants in DC. Fantastic selection of wines, as well as cheese and charcuterie to go along. The menu is very well balanced and has suggestions of wine. Avocado toast is a MUST!!!! Service has always been pleasant and professional
Great selection of wines. A place with a good balanced ambiance
Wonderful staff let us stay past last call to finish our drinks. Very helpful and accommodating.
We were there just last night for a night cap. It was only 7pm, we are tired parents of little ones. Cant make it too long out. The bartender could not have more uninterested in us or any of the other patrons, as she was chit chatting the entire time with someone who appeared to be a friend sitting next to us. It made us feel as though she was miserable being there and all of the patrons were making it worse. She answered questions impatiently and as if we were morons. Bummer experience. The host was very kind and professional though!
Our waitress was definitely either sipping on the alcohol or high! I was hoping for at least better drinks than the service, but I was hugely disappointed! It wasnt bad, but not worth the whole experience. The pan roasted chicken was horrible! It was cold and tasted like leftover chicken! The Rabbit Rillette was stringy and tasteless. Probably wont go back here.
While I thought Cork was good, I dont think it lives up to the hype. I came here for dinner and shared 4 plates and a cheese platter with my date. I thought all of the small plates were good, but not great, and the portions varied quite a bit. We had plenty of the avocado toast to share, but the pasta dish we ordered was pretty much just 1 bite each. The dishes seemed a bit overpriced as well, especially given the portion size for some of them. They do have an excellent wine list and our waiter gave great recommendations. We sat in the upstairs room, which was quiet and a great date spot, but downstairs around the bar was packed and quite noisy.
I dont make it here as often as I like, but I love it when I do eat here. The small plates selections are great, and the wine is better! The avocado toast is delicious! One star removed, however, for no longer serving the pork cheek, it was amazing. Its been a few years since it was on the menu, but it still hurts my heart!
Decor is beautiful. It’s a “wine bar” but don’t let that fool you. Dimitri makes a FANTASTIC old fashioned.
Small plates were really good here. I had a veggie meal with a friend and was impressed with all the veggie dishes.Only downside is that the wait was ~45 min-1hr on a Fri night.
Great food, wine and service. My server was knowledge and funny. I enjoyed my time here.
The nasty food and rude staff made our entire experience unbearable. We couldnt wait to leave this inhospitable environment and will never go back! Horrible!
Hidden gem for brunch. 14th street gets so busy for Sunday brunch and this place offers some tranquility in the middle of the actions. Service and food were pretty good!
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious burgers and who doesnt like to buy cheese too.
Cork is one of my favorite restaurants in The District; it has a quaint atmosphere, often difficult to find in town. The service is always great and the staff friendly--it is always packed and they do their best to accommodate your needs through the popularity that has stuck with this staple on the booming 14th street stretch. The food is outstanding--I am not a tapas person typically, but I make the exception when you can count on everything being delicious as found in this case.
Truly one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to in DC. Wait was significantly longer than the 40 minutes that was originally noted. After over 1.5 hours of waiting, the door staff were rude and indifferent, quite appalling. The restaurant was clearly understaffed for a Saturday night, with the wait and bar staff running around frantically ... Every plate had an issue, too salty, bland, and way too greasy for all.
Amazing brunch. The menu was small but diverse and the plates were all really well done. Great spot to grab food on 14th.
Great spot for a simple and casual but quality, artisanal lunch and glass of wine. There’s truly no other place like it.
Great place for a night cap. Calm. Low key. Nice staff. Good wine. I’d go again.
The most underrated and consistent restaurant in DC. Amazing wine list. Order the avocado toast. Cozy and comfortable, great for any occasion.
Food and wine are both good... However,I like to give a restaurant three chances if I have a bad experience. Ive given cork 3 chances (for dining and more for drinks) and really regret doing so1. I decided to take friends visiting from London there since I had always enjoyed drinks at the bar. There were 5 of us and the dining room was completely empty. They refused to seat us at a table unless we were buying food and suggested we sit at the bar where there were no seats. After pointing this out to the hostess and explaining we planned on spending $ and might get a bite albeit after a while they suggested we may want to try somwhere else. Rude.2. Went in with two older colleagues. Instead of the front being completely empty, this time it was 80% empty. We asked for a seat in the front dining area but were told that those tables (there were about 7 different tables available) were not available. we were cramped into the back and our service ended up being poor all evening. Throughout our entire meal almost all seats in the front remained empty.3. Literally almost the exact same thing as #2 + 2 messed up orders. We didnt say anything and let it slide b/c we didnt want to give the server a hard time, plus the dishes we were brought ended up being quite good.If youre willing to be talked down to and treated like you are lucky to have the honor to be in their establishment, then its worth it!
Notice Cork Wine Bar is going out of their way to dispute any negative ratings from this lawsuit but are more than happy to ignore and accept the positive reviews based off the same lawsuit. Cork Wine Bar really found a way to capitalize on the anti-Trump movement. I dont have to eat there to see that the owners dont hold themselves at a reasonable moral standard and therefore will never get my business. Shameful and embarrassing political move to inflate their bottom line!
Great food. Great wine. Beautiful reboot access the street from the classic Cork.
Good place to have a glass of wine. It is not a very intimate place. Lights are too bright, and the place is too big.
Small, Cozy, reasonable selection of wine and charcuterie options
Cork started strong and has been on a slow and steady descent to average ever since. Food that was once thoughtfully prepared is now tired, over seasoned, and soggy. Wine flights are poorly explained, resulting in misunderstandings and lack of enjoyment. Service waivers between snotty and friendly, but is rarely knowledgable. A year ago we decided to give Cork a break; we went back last night and itll be longer before we return next time.
Excellent atmosphere, service and food.
Karim was amazing. Love him!
The food was excellent and the waiter made some great suggestions on what wine would go with our entrées. Overall Id go back there. Many more menu items left unexplored.
Weve visited Cork dozens of times for its relaxed neighborhood atmosphere, great small plates, and to support locally owned DC businesses. While the city and the neighborhood keeps changing, Cork stays rock solid.
Knowledgeable, friendly and professional staff is a bonus for this delicious menu and relaxed atmosphere.
A terrific rye and bourbon collection and well priced wines. Knowledgable staff.
Corks avocado tartine with pistachio oil is amazing. So simple, but delicious. All of the food is great, but the tartine is a must. The only downside to the small, intimate spot is that its hard to get a table or seat at the bar.
Great way to reimagine what used to be two venues. Love the combo
Tried to go here it was closed 15min before the stated closing time. Not cool.
I have had some memorable life moments at Cork, and usually enjoy their extensive and well-sourced wine list. However, the service recently has been suspect, and I am disappointed that they did not honor an upcoming reservation placed last week for a larger group. While the explanation that it is Restaurant Week may be understandable, what is not understandable is the tone of the conversation and the unwillingness to recognize a breakdown in the communication between staff members. I will likely not be returning to Cork for some time, although I do wish the owners luck in their new location.
Surprisingly, the food here was so good it is worth to come just for it.
Very good. Consistent. People rave about this place. Dig it, but Ill never be a regular.
Super great treat. Wines and food in perfect pairing!
Closed at 12:25 on a Friday when they list that they close at 1am. Great reputation!
Really great spot to get unique wines and cheeses. Great place to get pre-party spread or picnic food.
Just what I heard I willing to try on new place. Looking forward to support a local business.
