The gelato was good although small. The dark chocolate was very rich, the cinnamon was the right mix of sweet and cinnamon, but the banana couldve had more flavor. The hazelnut also couldve had more flavor and the apple was not that great. It was enjoyable, just some of the flavors could be better and the portions were very small.
The guy with the dreads is rude. (I believe his name is Brandon) and needs to find another job if he hates his job so much based on his attitude. Is it that hard to answer questions without being short and nasty? If I wasnt with my family I would have responded differently but I didnt want to make a scene. Seems like this is the same person based on the reviews but I digress. When I asked for a manager from the other person working she said they didnt have a manager on duty. They also dont use gloves. Dont bother with this place.
Dont get me wrong, but I can see Im not the first one who isnt satisfied with the service. I visited this place on September 26, the black male server was constantly yelling at us about the way we should put our masks on. But at the same time he wasnt wearing any gloves while serving the ice-cream. Double standards. You should do both or do nothing at all. And stop telling people what to do.P.S. ice-cream was fresh and tasty. But the service should be improved.
The gelato was delicious and ridiculously small for almost eight bucks. Also, the employee was spraying bug spray behind the counter while complaining about mosquitos. Not great.
The Green apple and hazelnut flavors are to die for😍😍😍 so so good, would brave DC traffic for this!
Love Pitango. This is the most authentic Gelato in America. I would minus one star, because they did not have pineapple.
The sizes are very small for the steep prices charged in my opinion. I’m no expert on DC gelato but gelato in Southern California is much tastier for a better price. The chocolate flavor was very good though.
Not a great place if you are looking for a good variety of flavors or sizes. I found the large option too small for the price and the ice cream itself is not that great. I wont come back.
Very pricey for the little portions they have. The gelato/sorbet wasn’t bad however it could have been much better. You couldn’t mix more than 2 flavors. The sorbets lacked flavor and richness. Gelato Paradiso in laguna beach is by far the best place in the US.
Cute little gelato / ice cream shop. I got the pistachio and hazelnut gelato. Both flavors were delicious and creamy.
Delicious and worth every penny. I had the special banana flavor and it was YUMMY.
I must have gone to the wrong store because the ice cream and gelato here were both mediocre at best and the staff was extremely rude for no apparent reason. Would not recommend wasting your money here to be honest.
The staff was very friendly and gelato was great! A little bit pricey but you can get up to 2 flavors in the regular sized cup which makes it a lot more affordable!
Great service and great gelato. The whole family tried each others orders, and there wasnt a single flavor that anyone disliked.
Great gelato makes great affogato!I found Pitango while searching for best coffee in DC (despite it being a gelato place). I love that they make organic grass fed options for gelato; the flavor was apparent in the scoop of Fior di Latte that I had with my espresso. If Im ever back in the area, Ill have to stop by and try other flavors.
Serving size is tiny compared to other shops and the icecream is not great. Definitely not coming back...
The staff was very rude upon walking in and gelato wasn’t of quality.
Very tasty, good selection of drinks, service was great
The gelato here is very fresh and flavorful! I felt that each flavor I tried stood out. The strawberry tasted like fresh strawberries and I could actually taste the vanilla in my vanilla chocolate chip! While these are both pretty generic flavors, Pitango Gelato did a great job of highlighting them! I had the strawberry sorbet and vanilla chocolate chip. My husband had chocolate hazelnut and espresso (pictured). We really enjoyed these combinations of flavors!
Both people working are rude and useless, not helpful at all. Never coming back
Awesome gelato, but be prepared to wait in line!
I had a lemonade and it was very good!
I loved the Lemonade! 😌
Place was good workers were friendly
Disappointed in the selection of gelato and the service was overwhelmed by the crowd
Good place to have an ice cream! The chocolate hazelnut is amazing!! I love it!There are two sizes, in the medium yo can put 2 flavors and in the large you can choose 3 flavors. The price is around $6 per person. The location of the place is good because is in the middle of the Eastern Market. The staff is very kind.
Very good gelato and great customer service! I especially appreciate how the gelato and sorbet are covered with metal lids.We tried the crema (Italian custard) and hazelnut (nocciola). Both had thick, creamy, and smooth texture, with delicious classic flavors.Should I return, Id probably try a fruity sorbet next.
Must go. Loved it.
Went with the large trifecta of flavors. The cantaloupe flavor was really good. Very smooth and just enough sweetness. The staff was great and even though its a very small shop I like that they have benches right outside the door where you can have a seat, enjoy the gelato and not have to walk and eat.
Really bad attitude from the guy serving today. He should be in a place where there is no contact with customers... at all!
Love the coffee although the place is tiny
This place is SO GOOD! A must do on any tourists list. Not only is it made with quality ingredients you can trust, its just damn delicious! The Italian Sipping Chocolate is to die for- promise me youll try! We had several types of the Gelato on our visit and each one was very flavorful. And as if those two things arent enough, combine them for the wonderful experience that is the Chocolate Affogato!! Although seating was limited, we had a great time sitting at the bar area and the crowds were well maintained.
Mask scared, requires you to wear mask
All the samples (and they didnt stop asking if I wanted to sample anything else!) were delicious and so hard to choose from! The atmosphere sitting and watching out the window with friends reminds me of my favorite movie, Youve Got Mail. Just the feel of it. Thanks for a wonderful experience on my first trip to D.C.!
Definitely the best sorbet that I have had. The Vidama chocolate sorbet was better than any chocolate ice cream that Ive had. It tasted like fantastic dark chocolate. We tried the chocolate, raspberry, kiwi, and mango sorbet. They were all delicious. They have become a favorite. We will be coming back.
Absolutely wonderful experience. I loved the local pear and rhubarb sorbet along with an espresso. This is a gem. So many options of yummy flavors and super friendly staff!
Oh my oh my!!! Had the coffee and mocha mix and it was too DIE FOR!!! Great friendly service in a very clean environment. Neighborhood seemed good for daytime but signs of homelessness at night so take a friend. Gelato is better with friends anyway.
Wide variety of flavors to choose from that arent typically found elsewhere. They also offer many sorbet flavors. Worth the trip to try it, everything we got was very delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful even on a very busy Sat night. They kept the line moving and had smiles on their faces. This is a grab and go place so dont plan to stay here. Enjoy some of the city sights while enjoying a delicious dessert!
We ate the gelato. It was really good. They have lots of flavors of sorbet as well. I would definitely go back when in DC.
Best artisanal gelato in Washington D.C. Different outlets. All same high level of quality. Hazelnut superb.
We’ve been here four times in a week it’s so good! Simply delicious and very indulgent.
Pricey, but I can see why! Very good quality. A little bit goes a long way
Food: 4Decor: 4Service: 4Came here after watching a comedy show nearby since the ratings were so good.1. Strawberry sorbet~Mediocre. Wasnt as smooth as the raspberry sorbet, and the strawberry didnt come through enough.2. Raspberry sorbet~Pretty good. Very smooth and juicy.Service was good. They let us try 6-7 flavors between the two of us since I wanted to try everything.
Super friendly staff serving delicious gelato. The regular size allows up to two flavors, the large up to three. Family friendly.
Delicious ice cream! Crazy good flavors and amazing customer service. Thank you Pitango :)
Amazing, organic, fair trade gelato. Worth every penny. The texture is as good or better than some places I visited in Florence.
Easy to see right off of 7th Street servicing North West and the adjoining areas of Washington DC. Parking on the Street is available but it fills up fast especially at night and on the weekends. Clean facilities. Always a long line but it moves quickly. A wide variety of flavors. On the expensive side so bring your credit cards. We will most likely be going back.
Numerous awesome, changing flavors. Kiwi was fantastic and unique. Just about any fruit flavor Ive tried has been great. Staff is always very nice and very offering of samples. Deducted a star because the price is too high for the amount you receive.
Fantastic, authentic gelato! So many great flavors - pistachio, cardamom and single origin chocolate being the ones on top of my list. We visit this place every time were in D.C., its the best way to complete a great day.
If you are looking for a quick coffee/ ice cream place for a date or before you explore the national mall come here. I was here for a hot chocolate and loved it. The hot chocolate could have been more chocolaty but was good other than that. The staff was very quick and made the drink to look like a nice cappuccino. You are walking distance to the sculpture garden so come here to grab a drink first. Limited space inside the store.
Their hazelnut ice cream is the bomb! They were busy but the service was pretty fast. This place is now one of my favorites.
While the ice cream is good, and the flavors are interesting, I dont think the high price is justified. The regular size is an incredibly small cup for nearly 6 dollars. Nevertheless, the place is extremely popular during cherry blossom season with hardly any room to stand while ordering.
We really enjoyed the grapefruit and chocolate sorbets, the chocolate in particular. Both were vegan, which is great for us since Im lactose intolerant and my partner is vegan. The place was busy when we went and didnt have much seating, so we ended up just standing outside and noshing through the sorbet on the sidewalk.
Yumm
Yummy Gelato. Long line when we arrived, but fast and friendly service. My wife and oldest daughter got affogoto and my younger daughter got a great tasting hazelnut gelato. I got the banana flavor and highly recommend it to anyone trying to decide between it and another flavor.
High-quality gelato and sorbet, with great customer service and you can taste test everything they have! Good prices for the serving size and taste. Will definitely visit again when I am in D.C. next.
Literally perfect gelato! I had the raspberry and lemon flavors. They were EXTREMELY good!
Was very glad to see all the sorbet options along with a vegan chocolate flavor! Not much in terms of quantity of gelato, but certainly a lot to say about the quality. Some of the best tasting sorbet and gelato Ive had! Paired well with their espresso.
