There are places you eat, get your drink, and keep coming year after year without hesitation because you get always the best food, service, and personal touch and this is exactly what this place is, a place where you feel special and get always great food and drinks! My friends joke with me that I should be a sponsor for this place as I come here on a daily basis! I told them, I am a loyal customer once I found a little gem and The Ministry is exactly that to me, a little Gem in the vast jungle of Washington, D.C.! Oh yes, if you are looking for that perfect Instagram picture, this is your place as you will encounter the big poster of Queen Elizabeth! Cheers!
Convenient location and love the concept and design. I cannot speak to their food, but the latte I ordered was a bit too weak for two shots of espresso.Unfortunately, not the most welcoming or enjoyable place to patron. Love supporting small businesses who want your business, not places who treat their customers as a nuisance.
The Ministry is wonderful local women owned business located perfectly when working on the Hill or going to school at GT Law School. Wonderful coffee, treats to get you through you day. When your finishing your day stop by for glass of wine and evening treat. Please visit this amazing business needing the support more than ever during the pandemic!
Extremely dainty (w/ fuschia colored napkins) yet accessible quick breakfast spot which is a few steps away from Washington Court Hotel). Both inviting and calming. The buns seem fresh and cold brew is perfecto - not too strong, not too weak. Blocks away from the capital. We dropped by during the MOW 2020 for a quick bite and it really hit the spot. It feels great to patronize a spot which is eco-friendly and conscious. They won us over with the paper straws. After all, every little bit helps the environment. In short, if youre seeking a cozy spot w/ savory bites and sips, then this is it!
This is by far one of the cutest places in DC for a quick bite and coffee! The staff was amazing and seemed very familiar with their customers. The owner was there when I dropped by she was so nice and patient with my order...I had my two little indecisive ones with me. The food was great and the drinks were PERFECT! if youre ever around you must drop in the decor alone is worth it !!!
The food is amazing. Super fresh, beautifully prepared. Great drinks too.
Great spot for coffee as well as breakfast and lunch options (got a salad, it was good). And the owner is very friendly.
Really welcoming and accommodating as I sat and worked for a while before I had a meeting nearby. Great coffee and fabulous blueberry muffin!
This quaint coffee and wine house is the kind of place you might initially stop by out of curiosity. Yet, it is the amazing staff, wonderfully roasted coffee, and unexpected atmosphere that will keep you coming back. Im personally a fan of their iced coffee and decaf lattes but there is far more to explore here!
Great Chai latte. Great almond toast with strawberries. The atmosphere is nice and the food and drinks were delicious.
This place is fantastic. Love their tea choices, their muffins are so yummy (the Mami’s Sweet Cake is my favorite), and the pear and goat cheese toast is delicious!!! I love it every time I visit. And their staff is super nice.
One of my favorite places in DC! This is a wonderful coffee and wine bar located near Union Station and the U.S. Capitol. They have delicious toasts, pastries, salads, and more. The pan de queso (Brazilian cheese bread), oat milk mochas, and avocado toast are favorites of mine. Importantly for me, they have many gluten-free options to serve their guests with dietary restrictions and sensitivities and the owners, Elisa and Lulu, couldn’t be more lovely.
Very friendly and the food is impeccable!! I suggest the oatmeal with creme brioche. If you are not an oatmeal lover, they have a variety of other items to choose from.
Ive only been here 2x but the experience just keeps getting better each time I come. First time was cool. It was a birthday dinner so we were dressed up and had a good time and the food was good. The waiter was very helpful with selections and a little funny if I remember correctly. Everything was good, even the water (and I am very picky about my water).
Excellent service and yummy dirty horchata coffee drink
What a gem! The Angel Oatmeal dish is a unique twist and super delicious! All of the details: customer service, flatware, napkins, and scrumptious food makes this a place you should not miss!!
Great service, a little pricey though
Excellent food and even better service. I had the poached pear toast and it was beautiful and hit the spot
Wonderful and pleasant service. The barista asked if I’d like cinnamon in my chai latte which was a welcome touch! They do have some seating available which is super cozy and the music selections is great but not too loud/overwhelming. Will be stopping there after all my future doctor appointments.
Terrible customer service and mediocre drinks.
Great service and amazing tea and coffee I highly recommend.
Very rude service. Do not recommend.
The avocado toast with tomatoes and feta was absolutely amazing. It was completely packed - they did not skimp on the avocado at all which was awesome and very appreciated. 😁 The absolutely only reason Im giving this place 4 stars rather than 5 is because it is quite pricey and get that location may also go into effect given its prices. Just know youll literally be paying for what you get here. I do think its worth the experience.
Very friendly staff and wonderful, coffee, and wine!
Not only is the coffee at the Ministry amazing, but the owner and her staff are wonderful people. They greet every customer with smiles on their faces and make an effort to get to know their customers. The food is fresh, tasty, and well-prepared. Cant wait to try a glass from the wine list soon!
I LOVE this place. It’s beautiful, cozy, and definitely a great place to share a meal with friends. I think the combination of a wine and coffee bar is really unique, and sets the place apart. I really like their various topped toasts. The poached pear, avocado, mushroom, and strawberry ones are all good, and you could go with a group and get a few to share. The kale and goats cheese salad is also great. I can’t wait for them to roll out the rest of the menu!Elisa, the manager/founder, is also an amazing host, and you can tell she really cares about giving her customers an excellent experience. She’s friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.
Nice place with good COVID practices.
Beautiful menu, location, etc. But no coffee = 1 star
This is one of the best places in DC to get coffee. The owner and the baristas show the utmost care for the art, and are incredibly knowledgeable about every part of the process. The shop does not do sizes of coffee (because coffee is about ratios) nor do they do flavor shots, because the coffee comes first. The shop has held coffee classes and hosted DMV-area coffee competitions, so its a competent place. The one downside is that the food, while good, is on the pricier side, probably due to the location.
Solid coffee and modern/hipster decor at downtown DC prices. Paper straws with stiff plastic lids make the iced coffee annoying to drink. Appreciate the concern for the environment, but you need a functional product.
So yummy! Adorable little hide away spot. Lovely easy bites. Great coffee in the coffee dessert called America.
Ive been to The Ministry several times since they opened. The fancy toasts and Polish Snowballs are absolutely delicious, and the Chai Latte is always on point. The ambience is elegant and welcoming, and the staff are eager to put their best foot forward. They recently opened so everyone seems to be still getting their bearings, but they definitely make up for any little mistakes by making you truly want to visit again and again. Ill be back very soon!
Love this coffee shop! It is so beautiful inside and comfy. Everyone who works there is extremely helpful. Their coffee is delicious, and they have oat milk, which is my favorite!
Great coffee shop (and wine bar) staff is very helpful and pleasant. Coffee was well made and will be happy to return.
I’ve gone to the Ministry a few times, and I definitely think I’ll be back!I have to agree with the other reviewers that it’s definitely well-designed and instagram-able, but I don’t think it’s style over substance. The coffee is high quality and competently prepared. I’ve tried a few things on the menu, and the avocado toast with egg and the mushroom toast is delicious. The service is friendly, and the staff seem enthusiastic to be there. Now, I’ve only been during their soft opening. Can’t wait to go back and see how the wine and food menus develop after a few weeks, but I’m impressed so far and imagine it will only improve!
Pretty good. Georgetown students usually get a small discount on drinks so thats pretty sweet. All in all, def Worth going to and killing a coffee :)
Loved this spot. Coffee bar & wine bar..best of both worlds. Small menu but nice selection. I ordered wine and the pan de queijo. It was their spin on it.. delicious! Great spot to meet up with friends for coffee or drinks. Gives off European cafe vibes. I will return.
Have been waiting patiently for this place to open for awhile now (love my coffee shops!) but sadly While the outside/furnishings are very chic and tasteful, the drinks are lackluster at best.Definitely a social media driven place more than anything, pretty to look at, unfulfilling to visit. The staff is very friendly & energetic but lack a sense of expertise over anything other than a basic black coffee or their baked goods. Super let down as I was extremely excited to finally have a specialty coffee shop to get a properly made latte at close to work.I ordered a basic cappuccino and there was barely any foam at all, no simple syrup available & the coffee itself tasted diluted and worse than anything Ive ever even received at a Starbucks. I then complained & just asked for an iced coffee and still was left feeling unfulfilled and ripped off $ wise at best. Might just be due to how new it is, but as of now Im unimpressed. Will visit a few weeks from now to see if anything changes.
Love love love this place. The coffee is delicious, the food is amazing, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Cannot recommend highly enough!
Has a great decor and vibe. Service was good, and no complaints about my cold brew (though Im not a coffee afficianado). My only complaint is that there is a limit on how long you can use the wifi, but I understand as a small business the need to address freeloading
Excellent selection of wine and delicious treats. Casual yet hip with an artsy flair. Wonderful.
Wonderful coffee and wine bar with great service. Great spot to go for a business drink or to catch up with a friend.
I had a fantastic experience here. The service was exceptional!
So glad this place is finally open! A high quality independent (and woman-owned!) coffee shop was needed in this area. Great coffee (from Ceremony). Chai is Rishi and goes great with almond milk. We also had a really delicious avocado toast, and the rest of the menu looked good as well. AND they have glasses and mugs which I love so you dont have to throw away disposables if youre having coffee in. Looking forward to spending more time here!
The Nutella Toast paired with the Iced Latte w/ Oat Milk is exceptional!
Cappuccino was perfect. Strawberries on almond butter toast hit the spot. Peaceful.
The drinks are excellent, the food is unique & delicious, and the staff & service are both marvelous! The perfect place to stop and sip a while in the morning, afternoon or evening!!
LOVE this spot. Quaint, hip, convenient.
Amazing Coffee. The Owner and her staff are also wonderful.
Ive visited this lovely place several times and not only do I absolutely LOVE The Ministry for its great food & coffee + amazing service, I am LOVING the ambiance the owner so craftily created. Music plays just loud enough where you can have a nice conversation with friends or business colleagues and lets the local students study.I am quite grateful the owner opened her shop in the Capitol Hill/Union Station area, giving people here more coffee (and wine) options. I love supporting small businesses as well as women-owned business. The Ministry is both!! To top that off, the owner is soft spoken, very kind and POLITE to everyone that stops by. I have even seen her treat customers who have been quite rude (obviously these customers feel a sense of entitlement). A few weeks ago I saw her politely ask an obvious student to kindly remove her feet from the furniture. and just last week she asked a customer to take their obviously-from-another-restaurant- food container outside. I was quite impressed at how she handled both situations.Yes, I am a regular AND A FAN. Kuddos for teaching kids manners and proper etiquette!!! This is a nice establishment - take your nasty feet off the nice furniture! This isnt your house. And why do people feel its ok to bring food from another restaurant? It is not! and these people then have the audacity to get offended.I fully support The Ministry. If you ever find yourself near and in need of delicious coffee or a glass of wine, stop by! You will love it as much as I do. Oh, and ask for the avocado toast with fetta and prosciutto. Yummy!!! or the Pear and goat cheese toast. delicious!!! cant wait to go back!!!
The Ministry is a coffee shop/wine bar on New Jersey Ave NW near Union Station and in a place that is hoping to develop in the coming months. Its also a business that seems to be banking on their Instagram game. If you scroll through their feed, youll get the impression that they value beautiful design, speciality coffee, and fine wine. Its clear they want you to come and post on Instagram for your friends to see. With that expectation, you may be a little caught off guard when you actually visit. Its in the bottom floor of an office building and half of the space looks it. Its plain and sterile feeling. Then you notice the pink espresso machine and the beautiful cushion seating in the other half.In the mornings they serve coffee and muffins. I ordered an ice latte and it was good. However, they did not have simple syrup at the bar, just packets of sugar. The muffins are delicious. Small, but tasty.I did go for wine, but their list is impressive and Id go back with my wife for a date night.
The food is tasty and its a good coffee/lunch spot for Georgetown law students. The stuff was very nice and friendly, but the owner of the place was rude.
Its a wine bar but looks and feels like an ice cream parlor. I didnt hate it,the wine was good, but the atmosphere was really bright and just felt strange for a wine bar.
Clean, cozy and awesome
Small but cozy
Not many options, but the coffee I had was good.
Great coffee shop
Great coffee
Washington is a very classy city but do not expect to shop because you have to go there to visit momunents. The car parks are very expensive and the sites far apart from each other. The White House is not easy to access, so make sure you have good walking shoes and pay attention to the VPs. I enjoyed the Capitol more beautiful than the White House.
