Get ready to enjoy a European trip, cuisine wise at least, in downtown DC. I really enjoyed having breakfast here. My favorite spot was the comfortable chairs by the large windows. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I also liked their alternative milk options for their drinks. Check it out and let me know what you think π¨βπ³π©βπ³
Nice cafe located right near the subway stations, we got the mint lemonade and an iced latte, along with three mini cakes (apricot, carrot and chocolate banana). The atmosphere was really comfortable, especially after walking around in the heat. The latte was also goodβ¦the mint lemonade was nice, too (a little bit on the sour side) but still worth it.This is a franchise I think, so I donβt know how it compares to the others, but it was extremely clean, very spacious and the staff was very friendly.
Busy when I arrived, but all staff were handling the rush pretty well; overall they were efficient. My espresso was a bit of a let-down: zero crema, not very hot. I asked for it to stay, as I was waiting on my order, but instead they handed me a paper cup.
Great place. Relaxing, good food. Really nice place to sit and relax in a nice environment. Soothing music
Bread and croissant was served cold. Not even toasted or warm. The dime size butter was also from the fridge you cant spread it.Bread wasnt fresh at all.Use to be a good place for breakfast. Now is bad and expensive as hell. Many better options for the price
The fact that this place has a 4 star is criminal. Breakfast here was the highlight to my DC trip. Highly suggest the chocolate croissants and smoked mozzarella and chicken
EVERYTHING WAS SOO GOOD!!! The staff super nice the food itβs something from other world
Great service, amazing food! Glad we stopped by to enjoy this nice relaxing eatery. Hope to visit again soon!
I really enjoyed the food. Great atmosphere and the staff were friendly, great customer service.
Staff here are way too rude. Even the food here is so bad. Compare the photo of Waffle on the right which I got from here and the one on the left which I got from the Georgetown location. Also, I wonder if you did wash your plate. Well, I didnt eat a bite of this disgusting thing. Will never be back.
Wonderful atmosphere with very kind people and delicious food
Food was hot and fresh. Cozy lunch spot
Great food and service. Full sit down service available too. Greater server. Delicious food. Bread was outstanding and I havent had a chocolate croissant that crispy AND fluffy since... well it may have been the best Ive had. Smoked salmon omelette was outstanding-- especially with adding goat cheese to it per the servers recommendation. The roibois tea was strong and fresh, which is pretty rare too.
Great place to go,great coffee, breads and people
Wow. Dont let the organic label fool you about the deliciousness of their food. The restaurant is clean Ave the staff is beyond friendly. Even the chef delivers his craft to your table to make sure your experience is fantastic. Go there. Youll love it.
Excellent restaurant.
Napoleon cake is terrible! Better cod with sugar!!!!!
Great service, delicious food, baked goods, and coffee - perfect lunch spot. Loved the crispy quinoa cakes. The ambience is a welcome oasis in the city.
Delicious food. Very well decorated. Warm and cozy environment. Employees are very helpful. They have unisex restroom. Mostly open to public too. Seen people been using it. Also they have wheelchair accessible restroom. Very neat and clean.
Food was very good. Menu is a bit granola for my tastes and some of the portions were a little bit small but overall we had a very nice breakfast.
Fantastic gazpacho! Recommend for lunch. Also good acoustics. Was able to hear the other person in the meeting
Always liked Le Pain Quotidien for the concept and freshness of the food. However the prices are outrageous. I visited this LPQ today and had a sub-par salad comprised of mostly dry arugula with zucchini noodles and Pad Thai seasonings for $12.99, had to pay $3.99 extra for a few slices of chicken on top. I had a small glass of lemonade ice tea half of which was ice. No bread, no sides, no coffee or dessert. The tab came to $25 with tax and tip. Even in pricey downtown DC this really gets me. My other disappointment was the service. Granted, I walked in at the height of the lunch service and the place was busy. But its not an excuse for rudeness to customers. The server handed me a menu and came to take my order less than 5 minutes later. I had gotten a phone call and was talking on the phone. She leaned across the table asking what I wanted, forcing me to put my call on hold, and she clearly was not going to spend more than 2 minutes taking that order. Extremely rude. She brought my food and the bill came 2 minutes after I started eating. I saw that she kept looking over at me to check when I was going to take out my credit card. Rude again. Didnt ask if I wanted anything after my salad, coffee or dessert. At these prices one can and should expect better. I certainly do. Dont think Ill be back. Le Pain Quotidien is a big corporation and they emphasize profit over quality and service in many locations including this one.
The staff was efficient and the food was decent. My problem is that the creators purposefully chose the worst way to serve food.Coffee: bowlYogurt parfait: tall skinny glassSmoothie: bowlWaffle with choclate sauce: flat cutting board without raised edges. The only thing with a good plate was the eggsJust why?
Iβve been a client of Le Pain Quotidien for many years now and Iβve never felt so disappointed of this restaurant til today at the location of 800 17th street, Washington DC. My friend and I wanted to enjoy a lovely coffee and pastries while we had our lunch break but we were told that we were not allowed to bring our own food, the restaurant was almost empty, we were already seated when they asked us to leave. Is really sad that they treat loyal customers like this, guess they donβt care for good customers coming back.
The best
The most instagramable avocado toast and tea. Very hip place to go for decent prices. Not the best, not the worst either. Plenty of food and tons of great bread. Our server was helpful as it was our first time.
This was a really great place. I loved the food primarily because of its creativeness and simplicity.
To echo what most have said, the food is good and the portions are a bit small compared to the traditional American serving size. However, the staff, atmosphere and quality of food are what you are really going to enjoy. Im especially fond of to open floor plan (compared to other down town restaurants) and the fact that the management didnt fill every available inch of floor space with tables. There is room to breathe here and enjoy the coffee :)
I had extremely rude service two visits in a row. The first time I went with a friend and sat at a table, the waiter came over with some menus and asked what we wanted to eat. We said that we were probably only going to do drink. She gave us an unpleasant look and proceeded to begrudgingly serve us for the rest of our stay giving rude answers to simple questions like which of these two drinks would you recommend. Never the less I gave an 18% tip upon leaving.I returned the following morning to find the same waiter there. She saw me walking in but I sat down for almost 5 minutes before another waiter brought me a menu. This waiter was pleasant but left and did not return for another 5 minutes despite there being only 3 or 4 other clients in the restaurant. I got up, packed my bag and left the establishment without anyone so much as asking me if I needed anything. I will not be returning.
Went here during a businesetrip to DC for a quick bite. Great place with delicious food. Good atmosphere. Warm and cozy environment. Employees are very helpful, only a bit overexpensive.
Delicious food! Sustainable food and service! Very good.
We went in because the menu looked great but the experience was subpar at best. A table for two is too small to fit serving and eating plates, the sourdough was impossible to cut or chew let alone digest, and when I got the pancakes so that I didnt go hungry, the maple syrup was already poured over, which was too much in quantity for me so I couldnt eat that either. I spent $25 and left hungry π
Comfortable space in a convenient location, nice pastries and a great Americano.
Amazing breakfast. Some of the best croissants my wife and I have had
Coffee was lukewarm and unremarkable. Service was average at best. I had smoked salmon breakfast, which should be easy to get right. Well, the egg was that nightmare combo of hard yolk and runny white, the salmon was that cheap trash with the tough, stringy ligaments and the sourdough was so dry it seemed to suck the moisture out of the air. I know this chain and I was a regular patron of their London branch near Waterloo (awesome croissants βand coffee), but this place needs to up its game. Nice layout and seating, relatively quick service.
Le Pain Quotidien is the stylish restaurant. They offering great healthy and gulton free foods. Superb decor and atmosphere.Management staff are well knowledgeable.
I love the food and the staff is super friendly. Highly recommended
The butternut squash and brussel sprout warm bowl is really good. If you arent a fan of goat cheese, theyll substitute avocado, which I thought was pretty tasty. Ive been here a number of times, but, since they showcase their desserts, was surprised to learn they have a number of healthy options.
Outstanding menu and atmosphere consider the price points and type of venue. We were very surprised and delighted with the quality and diversity if the menu and food overall....best breakfast place near the White House.
My breakfast sandwich was awesome. Nice clean eating organic menu. I would recommend.
The evening of 12/8/18 I was looking for a nice place to meet up with an old friend. I sat myself in the front and waited for table service (because there was no host and no one behind the counter). My friend arrived. Waited some more. Got up to ask if there was table service or if I should order at the counter. Was rudely told there was table service. Waited more. Left for Starbucks around the corner. I was there for about half an hour. There was only like one other seated party of 6 or so.I think there may be a classist component to this judging from some of the other reviews Ive just read. I had on my work hoodie, jeans, and sneakers.
All natural, organic ingredients used in this eatery. Best apple pie ever! Thin, delicate crust with lush spicey apple goodness filling. Spice cider was delish and provided welcome warmth in freezing weather.
Great place for a delicious breakfast. Mini Dutch pancakes were great.
It has a nice seating area, but we received very poor service. The food took some time and we had to flag our waitress down for every little thing.
LOVE this place! Theyre always so pleasant/accommodating and the faint classical music playing is really nice too. Large, sturdy, wood tables -not those crappy little things one gets at Starbucks.
Great food, great service, and good prices. The waffles and omelets are really great!
Excellent service and good healthy options on menu. Advacado toast with egg was superb. Our waitress was amazing. Thank you
Liked the menu. Beautiful atmosphere, but food and kombucha was just okay.
Enjoyed a business breakfast here - good food, but wish the coffee cups had handles.
Simple, great food, nice space. My favorite DC breakfast.
Very special French breakfast fast, organic omelette, organic coffee. Donβt forget tipping
The hood menu is limited the food is good it takes too long to get there and its a typical French restaurant the service sucks
Expensive, small quantities, and strong flavors that didnt always go together. I could go on, but its not worth my time. I wont be back unless I just want something from their bakery.
Good omelette and fresh bread. All organic. AC is great. Spacious and nice decor.
The food was okay. Portions very small. Service was rushed. The server forgot one meal, a drink and didnt return to the table for over 15 minutes, ended up flagging down another employee who had to get the missing orders. Waitress never came back to check on us just stopped by to drop off the check without asking if we needed anything else. Never got refills on our drinks. Will not be returning.
Not much of a Real French pastry, go to Je ne sais quoi one of the best Real French pastry places I tried in the US
I dont usually review anything bc I like to spend my energy doing something else, but today (March 19th 2019) I came really hungry and was about to order when the cashier told me to take a sit and wait for the server, so I did. This server passed by me several times and never greeted me nor offered me a menu (even though I just wanted the daily tartine special or whatever). I tried to get her attention calling her couple times until I just gave up and stared at her hoping she would stare back at me. She did. I ordered. My order came and right away she gave me my check without asking first if I wanted something else like coffee (which I did but the very regular service took away that thought). I wasnt even offered complimentary water even though I didnt have anything to drink. The food was great, though. Its a really cute place but the times Ive been there the service has been very unsatisfactory. I hope my review helps you to progress a little:)
Very tasty food, nice atmosphere, great waitress.
My wife and I went to Le Pain for breakfast this morning. Although the food was fine, the service was the worst I can ever recall receiving at a restaurant. We ordered soft boiled eggs and it took 10 minutes to get the right utensils to eat them. We waited 15 minutes for our check and observed several others patrons trying to flag down wait staff who seemed determined not to make eye contact with any customers. There were also numerous tables that had not been cleared for over 30 minutes. Ironically, the restaurant only had 11 occupied tables with 3 - 4 wait staff serving.Weve been to several other Le Pain Quotidien restaurants and have always received great service. This location obviously has some management issues to sort through.
Awful, uncooked egg, warm drinks
Their menu options are really interesting and the atmosphere is so cute. Would definitely recommend for a cute friend meet up or first date.
Good seating area, very nice staff and excellent location. Recommend the raspberry tart. Additionally, there is WiFi in it.
Im about the least picky coffee drinker. Never posted about coffee. But whoa! They got GREAT coffee.
Nice servers and delicious breakfast with yummy gluten free bread!
Terrible place guys. Even Mc Donalds is better than this place just wall 2 minutes you will see mc donalds. Server had problem with her manager and came olur table she was angry and throw fork to my face. I told manager she is so poor.. called le pain quotiden headquarter but couldnt reach anybody i also email they never reply
Food was amazing, latte was good. Not giving 5 stars bc food takes way too long to come out- to be fair it seems like it only takes a while bc theyre under staffed.
Good for a business lunch
I love this chain. Great breakfast with friendly service and real cafe au lait!!!
The service is so slow and orders have been incorrect every time Ive been. Need more staff or maybe just better training in customer service
What I know about tip that you give it to the waitress If u love everything!I put a tip for the waitress and she came back to me with rude attitude! Asking me for more! I got scared and I put more for her!!!!!OMG!! Never happened to me in the other le pain restaurants!I love le pain food Iβm always a loyal customer to it ! But this is my first time with this kind of low service! They need to re-training the waitress to be kind with ppl and not such a rude one! I will never come back to this location! Seriously Shame on yo!!!!The table no. Was : 39/1 Gst: 2 at April 19/2019 at 11:21 Am .
GREAT staff... The food is at a reasonable price point too.
Great decor good atmosphere good service ok food - excellent for a lunch break
This was the best meal I had for breakfast since I was on the France/Germany border. I had the Chicken Chorizo Omelette with Salad, and Bread. Every bite was delicious!
Such a cute place! Love the selection of healthy foods
Good spot for quick bite or sitdown lunch. Enjoyed the outdoor seating.
The coffee is good and the toast are big and yummy. However, The coffee wasnβt very hot and the orange juice is not natural. Very expensive!
Lovely place, sadly still using plastic straws - come on guys, ditch the plastic for paper.
Pleasant and airy space, with a delicious ham and cheese croissant!
With numerous coffee and tea places near by why go to this one. The few times I visited in the morning I was ignored the employees were at the other end of the shop looked at me did not acknowledge me. I walked out no need to be treated that way. Rude employees over priced over hyped drinks and food
Food was great, service was amazing!
Excellent healthy food, with a sweet treat for dessert! The service was fantastic!
