Wonderful spot for breakfast! The man behind behind the counter was absolutely fantastic. He was very patient with the woman that was ordering for us Mrs Aline who said she knew the owner. He made sure my Mom and our friend got the Sunnyside up eggs, my breakfast sandwich was delicious 😋. Coffee was steaming hot and fresh. He must be a great employee and the others behind the counter were so wonderful and efficient on such a busy Saturday morning 🌄. I am from Upstate NY and thoroughly enjoyed our morning outside on the patio.

2.5. Food is decent, but wait times are long and sanitary practices are questionable. If you order to-go on an app, multiply the expected pickup time by about 5. Some staff work pretty slow. I watched staff move between touch screens and preparing food without putting on gloves or washing hands multiple times. One staff member had a hair tie on her wrist as she was reaching into food containers.

Good food. Bad at online orders. A few times I have placed an online order for pickup, waited 20 mins, walked over, and had them tell me they’re out of what I ordered. This would honestly be a five star review if I didn’t run into this issue. The food really is quality and the price point is about average for DC. But if they can’t figure out how to properly handle online orders such that it wastes customers time and effort, that’s a big problem worthy of criticism.

Sweet little spot with a creative menu of breakfast and lunch choices, a few tables inside and out on the front patio. I really enjoyed the curried turkey salad sandwich and fresh squeezed lemonade, though the service was slow, only two ladies behind the counter, it was surprisingly busy, but neither looked up to greet people in line. I ordered online ahead and still had to wait quite a bit for her to find and finish up my order after I finally got her attention.

Stopped for lunch and thought it deserved a higher than 4.2 rating. the indoor seating is definitely lacking and the tables outside can can use more umbrellas but it was not too hot when we went so it was ok. salads were fresh and sandwich was good. cookies were yummy. portions were on the smaller side, city size. they definitely seems a little overwhelmed but the food came out quickly. overall satisfied

The avocado toast was delicious and flavorful. Their syrup is different than what your used to, a little sweeter but still good. Waffles came with fruit and tasted as expected. The vanilla iced latte was good, could be a tad sweeter but if you don’t like things too sweet it’s perfect for you. The place is very small so don’t plan more than 2-3 people

Have ordered here twice - both times the food was amazing (worthy of six stars). My only frustration (and reason why Le Bon Cafe doesnt get five stars) is due to the fact that Le Bon cancelled two orders of quiche and breakfast products which I had ordered on GrubHub. When I called them, they said that they were out of those products even though said products were listed as available on GrubHub. In the future, my hope is that Le Bon can remove products that they do not have from online listings so there are no difficulties with ordering.

It was pretty dirty when we walked in. It just rained, but there was constant mess and mud on the floor. The tables werent cleaned either. The cashier didnt notify me of different options for drinks, like different sizes or different milks. I ordered a Chai latte and I wanted it with almond milk. Since Im lactose intolerant, I usually automatically request for other milk options! I dont rememeber if I did or didnt, but the latte was made with whole milk. Of course, I felt like it was on me for not requesting almond milk! I took full blame for possibly not requesting the milk, but when I asked for the latte to be changed, the cashier said But I already made it. Im lactose intolerant, so...I wasnt gonna take that option. I definitely offered to pay for it for their troubles, but the vibe was just...off. They seemed completely inconvenienced by switching the milks to the point where their coworkers were kinda looking at the cashier to make sure that I paid for it....even though the almond milk was just $0.95 more than what I just got. I didnt have an issue paying for the trouble, I vocal about that. I even apologized to the cashier! Then when I received the latte...it wasnt even hot. So I just paid an extra 7 bucks for a latte that wasnt even hot and for a service that was pretty standoff-ish.Thankfully, the waffles were pretty tasty, minus the slightly molded fruit on top.

The atmosphere was shady, the welcoming was tense, and the Cafe itself needed a good cleaning. The floors, even though it was raining a bit, were a mess; even beyond the rain tracked in, it looked as of the floor hadnt been properly mopped in weeks. The prices? Too much. The ham and cheese croissant was delicious, though not worth about $5. The food isnt hand made from scratch or anything (which is fine), but I dont think you should charge $5/$6 for a Belgian waffle that you made from boxed mix.The way they have the food being called during rush hour is ridiculous; instead of your name or order number or something, they just yell out the food, and then people just come and grab it. Its not covered or anything. Just on a plate with people standing around it and you come and grab it. They dont check to make sure its going to the right person or anything, so I waited about 10 minutes for (probably, most likely) microwaved ham and cheese croissant, while everyone else snatched up their food. The Chai latte (hot) was pretty good, though I prefer the ones from Dunkin Donuts (more chai in it, I guess). The staff werent very welcoming and when my bestfriend asked for almond milk, they made it seem like it was a big problem and one of the workers practically forced her into paying for another drink, full priced, for their coworkers mistake. There were too many people inside during a pandemic and there were people who were either too close for comfort or not wearing a mask, even when they were sitting at a table on their laptops, not even eating or drinking. It was ridiculous. Makes you feel unsafe, during this time.I reccomed Compass Cafe for all your Cafè dreams.

I dont understand why I was so let down today. I had been here two times previously and the food was good. But today I was given a sandwich made with old bread that tasted awful, I couldnt even finish the sandwich. I also had to wait 20 minutes for the drinks I ordered, and had to get up and ask where my drinks were. I dont think they appreciated me reminding them because when I asked for a takeaway bag the woman hesitated and said it would be 5 cents, which I paid, but I then noticed she didnt charge the man next to me for a bag. The iced turmeric latte was good though, but I was sorely disappointed by the food and the service. I sadly will not return again. To those visiting, all I can say is maybe they just arent as good on a Sunday. Maybe try going during the week if you can.

Le Bon Cafe is definitely not a 5 star restaurant, but it is very classic DC which makes it feel like home. Its a small cafe that is supposed to be French really close to the US Capitol, which makes it great for people watching as Senators and other VIPs walk by. People love the French toast, but I think it is just okay. I always get the quiche (real men DO eat quiche), a chocolate chip muffin, and a chai. Perfect way to start my morning. The downsides: The food is just average and the seating inside is cramped, but if you are visiting the US Capitol in the morning, this cafe is a great place to start your day.

A MUST DO for everyone visiting Capitol Hill! I have been going to Le Bon Cafe since it first opened 25 years ago and I lived in the neighborhood. At that time, there were no good coffee shops that served lattes and espresso - no Starbucks. Le Bon Cafe was a happy discovery for my husband and I, recent transplants from New Orleans, who missed the cafes on every corner there. Though I moved away 19 years ago, I still make it a point to have a fresh croissant and latte when I visit DC each year - most recently to visit my daughter in college. It is still the charming, attentive oasis on the Hill that offers a variety of delicious sandwiches, salads, coffees and pastries.

Puzzled, I responded but I paid for them and you never told me they werent ready so I could order something else? She said I gave you fruit. Im sorry WHAT?
