PROS: Bagels are big & high quality, workers are friendly, space is open (nice when waiting for your order # to be called), location is ideal, lots of sandwich options (condiments, toppings etc), array of bottled drinks and fountain drink machine.NEUTRAL:—Wait time for basic bagels (15 minutes for 4 sliced, but un-toasted bagels, only one with cream cheese). The line was deceptively short! Only waited 3 minutes to give my order, but 15 more to hear my order # called.—Pricing - $1.50 for a bagel, plus $3.60 to add cream cheese, $2.50 to add butter, $2 to add bacon. They load the cream cheese on, though! And bagels are giant.CONS—very limited options by late morning. I went Saturday at 11 AM, and around half of the bagels were gone. No everything, whole wheat everything, plain, pumpernickel, and 6 other types, with 3 hours left before they close. I expected a wait for fresh everything bagels to be made, but I was surprised (along with the two customers ahead of me) to hear the cashier say they were out for the day. Of course, there is a rush of early birds in bagel shops, so this might be expected.—wait time for speciality bagels (I.e egg, bacon, sandwiches seemed long. People were there before me and there after I left (about 20 mins total) for heated items

Great place except you should avoid it on the weekends. They don’t answer online orders when things get busy and you will wait for half an hour or more. It took me an hour to get it this last time I was there. With emphasis on last.

Lousy bagels. Totally wrong texture, closer to what you would get from grocery store bread aisle than a proper bagel. Also fail to follow simple instructions like a request to have a couple of bagels toasted. Avoid this place - there are much better alternatives nearby.

Usually love this place but sadly it is falling apart. No order in the store. Staff has no clear rules of a line or an ordering system. 12:05 order arrive at 12:00 but they had given away the order to someone else or just had not made it at all. It Took 40 mins past the time it was supposed to be ready and acted like it was my fault the whole time.

Every bakery seems to have its own version of what a bagel should look and taste like. I think Bethesda Bagels are among the best. Theyre larger than average, with generous toppings and crispy on the outside and nice and soft inside. Perfect with a schmear of any flavor cream cheese.

I had a terrible experience this morning with my order from Bethesda bagels. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese on Asiago with avocado and extra cheese. The sandwich was missing bacon, had about an inch thick of unmelted American cheese and seemed to be on an egg bagel and not the Asiago that was ordered. Also was cut incredibly awkwardly.

This is a weekend breakfast staple! The bagels come stacked & packed, so definitely make sure youre hungry. Plenty of bagels and sandwich combinations to try, I never get bored. (The Whitefish salad is the best in the District, hands down)Their flavored cream cheese spreads are also super luxurious. (The Chive & the Blueberry spreads are a couple personal favorites.)If you dont order ahead online, be prepared for a bit of a wait on the weekends after around 9am because everyone lines up for the best breakfast bagel sandwich!

I wish I could go lower. This location had the worst service, we’d waited over a half hour (that was scheduled) for our order, then waited in line to ask about it, only to learn they decided to not fulfill the order because they didn’t have the bagels we’d asked for. No refund, no call or contact. They would not have completed the order had we not complained. There are better places nearby for breakfast sandwiches (Sos your mom and Call Your Mother) so I’d just recommend going there.

Ill be honest. I love going here and the bagels themselves are worth the price. But I went in today 04/08/2021, paid $7.15 for a sausage, egg and cheese, and have actually taken the effort to come on here and write this. By the time I turned around from the cash register after paying, they are holding the bag out saying my order was ready. I was happy at first because of how fast, until I cracked open that bag.Clearly they just had some premade stuff lying around, threw in on the bagel and gave it to me. Which you know, is fine. If Im paying like 3.99 at a corner store. But the convenience of instant sandwhich is not worth some cold rubber egg and unmelted cheese.Do what you want. I been here a long time and thats a popular spot that will always have good business. The staff are great. But this was a miss. Enough of a miss to get me to write this out. There are better spots for your money. My advice, buy their bagels, but dont bother with the sandwhiches.

I ordered two egg and cheese bagels for pick-up. Although my order was ready on time and the flavor of the food was decent, the construction of both sandwiches was very poor and negatively impacted my ability to enjoy the food. On both sandwiches, the cheese was not melted, which is extremely weird for it to be a hot sandwich on toasted bread. Additionally, the egg of both sandwiches was placed so that when cut in half, one half contained the egg and the other did not. Finally, the sandwich was already falling apart when we opened our order, so much so that upon taking one bite, it completely fell apart in our laps. Sandwich construction should be a part of providing good customer service, in addition to timely order delivery and flavor of food. This experience will probably keep me from ordering from Bethesda Bagels again.

My bagel was pretty good. The man in the front (may be Hispanic) was excellent and patient with explaining about the bagels and menu. However when I got my bagel it had a glob of lint on the side of it. I showed it to him and the Black man who works near the front and they both told me that the glob of lint was apart of the bagel [BAGELS DONT COME WITH LINT] and made it seem as if I was straight tripping with their looks. Without further hesitation after their looks and explanation that that’s what an everything bagel looks like (seemingly ignoring the clearly displayed glob of lint), the Hispanic guy said he’d make it over for me. He quickly made it over forgetting the vegetable cream cheese I asked for initially and gave it to me. I left and ate my bagel and came up with the 3 star rating.

If just they had a larger place with real seating I would’ve given 5 stars. The line was really big but like others say it moves pretty fast. I got an olive cc bagel with vegetables. It was really big. They give a good bang for the buck. I was surprised at how heavy my bag was. My girlfriend got a tuna bagel and she “liked it”. I needed a place to eat because they don’t have seating, so we went to Starbucks at the corner of R and Connecticut and bought coffee there and ate our bagels. This is my only complaint. It’s nice that when eating an enormous bagel that needs plenty of napkins to keep clean, that you have some place to eat and wipe your face. Overall, excellent bagels but I’m still kinda partial to goldbergs bagels in baltimore.

Large, solid East Coast bagels, fresh and delicious. There is no fluffed-up, air-filled LA pastry here. Expect to spend some time in the fast moving queue. Vegan cream cheese is available in two forms: plain and with veggies. They also have several flavored dairy cream cheeses, meats, fishes, cheeses and veggies that are placed inside a dozen different bagels. Theres donuts and pastry, too. Coffee that dispenses from their push-button brewing machine, is not a good as the bagels. Prices are moderate. This is a takeout restaurant. However, there are two narrow shelves with wood stools if you must eat here. Wheelchair accessible. No bathroom.
