I want to say thanks to Robert who checked my car. I had a long trip from NC to DC and had to return back the same day. Unfortunately, after hitting a bump I got a strange sound in my suspension or break system. I was not sure whether it is safe to go back. Robert checked my car and said that it is not a safety issue and I can go home, but to find the problem he would need some more time, but I did not have that much time. Robert did not take a penny from for this inspection feeling sorry for not being able to help me. Still I might say that he is very professional and honest mechanic, did not try to make money on me, while he easily could. He was very nice and supportive. In case I go to DC and need a place to fix my car, I would go here without any doubts.
Great service with expedient results. This is a place that quickly garners your trust and ensures you are happy.
I’m going to keep it 100% real - this is the best mechanic I’ve ever been to. Very professional and does not try to price gouge customers. Highly recommend
Ive been taking all my cars to Bobby since before he moved to Alexandria so that has to be about 12-15 years. Hes worked on our BMW, 1978 Mercedes, and our two Explorers. Bobby and Roberto are two class acts who know each of their customers personally. They have a highly sophisticated shop with skilled craftsmen. Ive never had to take a car back for a faulty repair. They will do everything from change the oil to rebuild an engine. Rocket scientists. Their waiting room has WiFi so in many cases I come in and wait for the car for simple upkeep. Bobby has sent folks to my home to pull off a shredded tire, leave the car up on jacks, and bring the remounted tire back to the house and reinstall. The service is unbelievable. Jeff in Georgetown
Georgetown Auto Service provides excellent 1:1 customer care. This is a boutique auto shop that specializes in each individual clients needs. I have been taking my car to this shop for a few years now and this is definitely the best service that I have received within the DMV. Bobby and his crew go above and beyond and provide quality service at an excellent value.
Amazing, high-quality, friendly, and affordable service! My Volkswagen had a coolant leak. I dropped off the car at Georgetown Volkswagen, which quoted a price of $2,200 to replace the pump. In an attempt to save some money, I then called all the other Volkswagen dealerships in the area, which charged anywhere between $1,500 to $2,000. Fortunately, I then called Georgetown Auto Service, and Bobby picked up. Not only did he agree to replace the pump for $1,000, but he also sent his staff to pick up my car from Georgetown Volkswagen. Over the course of the day, we exchanged multiple calls to deal with minor logistical matters, and -- although I may have called him a bit too frequently -- every time he was very professional and friendly. (This contrasted sharply with the Georgetown Volkswagen staff member, who repeatedly just stepped out almost every time I called, and when I managed to reach him, he was not very sincere over the phone.) As Bobby had promised, the pump was replaced within the course of the day, so I was able to pick it up in the early evening. And when I arrived, he took the time to explain to me the exact location of the leak, and exactly what they had replaced. All in all, truly excellent service!
I have only visited when I needed air in my tires so I cant speak to the quality or value if larger repairs. However, the customer service is beyond any other shop Ive ever visited. Recently, my tire was low and they determined it had a hole in it. In an effort to get me on the road as quickly as possible they located a used tire nearby and put it on for free. I was blown away by how gracious and courteous the staff was...Mo in particular! I will recommend their service to anyone who will listen to me!
I had such a great experience with Georgetown Auto Service from beginning to end. I was so impressed when they answered my call on a weekend, after closing, and promptly helped me arrange towing. They called me early Monday to diagnose the problems and had the car fixed the very same evening, despite a 7+ hour job. This is a company truly dedicated to customer service and getting the job done right- you wont be disappointed!
Ive been to Georgetown Auto Service a few times in the past couple of months for various car issues/repairs including questions, second opinions, estimates and concerns of being jerked around by my dealership. Bobby stepped in, took the time to assess, explain and answer questions, offer suggestions and had my back in regard to warranty covered repairs being completed by the dealer. Finding an auto shop that treats customers fairly with respect and honesty gets huge points in my book and when theyre affordable on top of all of that, I happily refer anyone in the DMV to contact Georgetown Auto Service next time you need auto service! Thanks!
I came in with a very specific request, my car was vibrating at highway speeds over 60. When I got the call around midday they said they got the car up to 50 and didnt feel anything. I asked them to try it at 60 and they said they couldnt. My car has since gotten worse since going there. Unfortunately a waste of time and money.I brought my car in on Monday, April 8. And in fact left my credit card there, the guy in the shop was very nice and called me to return it.
After driving from New Jersey to DC on Saturday afternoon, our car overheated with the “reduced engine power” light on (luckily just as we reached our destination). We researched some auto repair shops and found Georgetown Auto Service - which is open Sundays 👍The car was towed to their Alexandria location, where it was immediately looked at. The car had a faulty water pump. The part was ordered on Sunday as we needed to return to NJ on Monday. The first thing Monday morning there were two mechanics working on the car and had it finished within 3 hours. We drove home that afternoon without further trouble. We can’t say enough about the prompt, professional and courteous service we received from Bobby and his team. The price was very reasonable and saved us a lot of stress. In short, thanks very much for the great service and we would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
I have a 1969 Beetle that needs a lot of TLC so Im picky about mechanics. I drove down to Bobbys shop in Alexandria based on this sites reviews and they are all accurate. Bobby is an excellent mechanic, honest, efficient, and fair-priced. Highly recommended.
Ive never been to this shop before but called them this weekend to get a new battery for my electronic key for my Camry. Even though they were closed, someone still answered! When I told them I needed it right away, they referred me to a Radio Shack in my neighborhood. What selfless service! Thats why Im getting ready to call them again today.
Bobby got me in at the last minute. Only charged me $4 for the quart of oil used. Extremely nice guy. If I lived here I would go to him every time.
-Brought in VW Golf GTI 2015 for Oil Pressure warning-Unfortunately, they were not able to help me with my problem, it required at that point an entire engine replacement (which I had covered under my VW warranty [phew!]).However! They were able to assess my problem and point out the baffling service I had received at a terrible MIDAS shop. Every single team member was extremely helpful, very responsive, and even asked for me to follow up with them about how everything turned out with the car. Any other problem I have in the future, this will be the first shop I turn to (also, Bobby was great, thanks for all your help!)
SUMMARYI really wanted to like these guys. What they do, they do well. But the oversights make it impossible for me to recommend this auto shop. I need to be able to trust that my most basic requests will be met, whether it be to swap out window wipers, to perform an oil change, to top off my coolant, or to order a shuttle. Georgetown Auto Service as failed to meet this most basic measure of professionalism. Unfortunately, despite GAS quality and affordable work, these lapses will keep me away in the future.Pros:- Nice guys. Roberto especially is great. Overall, they all make an effort to communicate clearly why they recommend what they do.- Affordable, which is something I definitely appreciate in this not-so-affordable area.- They perform quality work. The work that they /have/ done on my 2005 Honda Civic, Ive been really pleased with. Its when I request work and its forgotten thats frustrating.Cons:- Multiple times, they have forgotten services which Ive requested, forcing me to come back to the shop, or seek the services again elsewhere. This oversight makes it impossible for me to recommend them.- The shuttle service is disorganized and frustrating. One time, my shuttle showed up a half hour late. During my wait, I called the front desk lady for help; she was rude and unhelpful, and couldnt even tell me who or what I should be looking for.- Another time, I requested a shuttle and it never came. So I walked the half mile from a metro bus stop to the shop--barefoot, carrying my heels from work.LONG VERSION1. My first experience went really smoothly. The guys were courteous, and they talked me through their recommendations, even lifting my car so they could show me exactly what they were talking about. They did suggest additional services from what I had requested, but overall I didnt feel pressured. Overall, I was pleased, and went back again happily.2. My second experience was when the trouble started. Again, they added services from what I had requested, but they walked me through their reasoning--emailing pictures, explaining over the phone--and so I decided to move forward with about $500 worth of repairs. To pick up my car, I arranged ahead of time with GAS for a shuttle. I quickly found that the shuttle service was woefully disorganized. When I called from the metro to check the status of the shuttle, according to the front desk woman (who was quite rude), it may or may not be coming. When I asked what it looked like or who I should be looking for or when it might arrive, she replied that she had no answers. I was frustrated with the disorganization and the poor customer service, as well as what ended up being a half hour wait time for a pre-arranged shuttle. To travel that half mile from the metro to the shop ended up being a terribly frustrating ordeal.I paid for the services and left with my car, only to find--in the rain--that they had to replaced my wiper blades, as requested. Given this oversight, I had cause to doubt whether they had performed the other services I requested. I ended up having to go BACK to have the services completed. Thats incredibly frustrating for me. Good customer service does not require a customer to return multiple times for a single, simple service.3. On my third trip (all within the space of nine months), I asked for three services, and only one of them was completed. Im not sure if they just forgot or didnt properly record my request, or what happened. But, again, I find it unacceptable to have to return multiple times for a single request. On this third trip, I again had trouble with the shuttle service. I requested a shuttle and it didnt come, so I walked a half mile barefoot, carrying my heels from work, as I made my way to my car. This is also just unacceptable. I need to be able to trust the people I work with, and unfortunately that just hasnt happened here. I always leave in a terrible mood, feeling as though my basic expectations havent been met. Im finally going to do myself a favor and find someone else.
Good service
