Took a cooking class and it was super fun! All of the staff are nice and helpful. Would definitely go again!

I used to frequent Sur La Table for my kitchen equipment and supplies since 2007. Unfortunately, my most recent shopping experience was not what I expected from the brand and left such a bad taste in my mouth that I will not be shopping at Sur La Table again. I recommend you shop local or shop direct online.My mother placed an online order as a surprise gift for me and when I received the package I went to the store to exchange it for a different size with the product in its original packaging, unused, with proof of purchase and within their return period. When I got to the cashier, they quickly turned me away saying no returns are accepted on clearance items. I was confused at first because the packing invoice does not have the price listed and did not say clearance. I had several back and forth conversations asking if I could not return to at least provide an exchange or store credit. I even went so far as to look up the product on their website and it is clearly labeled as SALE not final sale and not clearance. Going through the online check out process, again no notice of purchasing a final sale item.Then I took a closer look at their return policy. There is no where that states exchanges are not accepted for clearance products. They seem to have internal guidelines however it does not even match their own written policy online. For such a big company, I am shocked that this is the way they choose to conduct business.

My husband and I took a cooking class several weeks ago, called Night Out: The Spice Market. We totally enjoyed the class and learned lots of interesting things about spices. Chef Regina was so much fun and since it was a small class (5) we got extra attention and advice. We would recommend this class to anyone. Delicious meal and dessert!

Tonight’s cooking class was a major disappointment. I signed 6 members of my family up for this class which offered a Mediterranean menu. The meal consisted of only 3 courses: chicken, gespacho soup and cheesecake. It didn’t appear our chef was familiar with the recipe beyond prepping the ingredients. She constantly challenged the recipe as she read it and would then state she thought highly of the chef who created the recipe and thus would follow it even though she knew better.As a result, we prepared the courses in the wrong order. We had to wait 15 minutes for the brick chicken which had burnt skin to bake long enough to eat, some sections of which were still under cooked. While we waited, she urged us multiple times to shop in the store to fill the time. Our class ran late by 30 minutes.I had previously taken a class at the Sur La Table in Pleasanton which was a delightful experience. This class paled in comparison. Lastly, our chef was incredibly self centered. She spoke almost non stop about herself and her experience. It seemed as if she thought this job was beneath her - it was awkward for all of us and certainly not worth the $85.00 /person cost.

You are required by law to accept all forms of legal tender.Turning away a customer because of some idiotic policy you have to not enter a card manually is illegal.Think about your future losses if this continues.I will follow up soon legally.
