I normally don’t write reviews but i felt like i needed to. I never paid the amount of money i did for box braids in my entire life. I was not aware that they wasn’t accepting cards until the end and had to pay an extra $9 to take money out. I understand that my stylist had back problems but I’m 9 months pregnant and it was a very uncomfortable experience. I was able to get me in a chair quick, clean shop, convenient, and quiet. Make sure you tell them what and how youll like your hair styled otherwise, theyll begin braiding without asking about parting or such. Love how braids are not super tight. It took the ladies no time to finish my knotless braids. The salon looks nice inside and was clean. They were friendly and accommodating to my last minute request.

My hair looks neat but my stylist did free parts without asking me. I thought the basic box braid style was box parts. The parting in the front of my hair is way off with the back parts of my head :((. I also asked for small braids not medium but that’s what I got is medium (no wonder why it took only 4 hours to do it smh ). I always ask for small braids and I never in my life got braids this big. Kinda disappointed. I went to Ms.B

BE AWARE! DONT believe the pictures they are advertising. All of it is not their work! I made an appt to go in and find out the person I booked wasn’t there. I waited for 3 hours only not to like my hair. She (1st chair on right) did 4 braids and I looked at my hair and took it out. I requested feed in braids but it did not look right. Back story: I called earlier that morning and asked who specialized in feed ins which I was given the name of Beatrice). Why was her availability open for the time I went and was given her name if she would not be there...

My daughter and I both have been here and gotten feed in braids and Senegalese twists. Beatrice and Cynthia are very nice and accommodating! We will definitely be coming back.

I have gotten my hair done here and it was nice but this time around I am not satisfied. The lady charged me $200 for kinky twist and my parts are big and the hair is not full. I dont think I will go back. I am going back to my original braider in DC.UPDATE: Received a call from the owner. She offered to fix my kinky twist. Scheduled my appointment. Overall majority of my braids were redone. Looks much fuller and I received some money back. I am changing my stars from 2 to 4, only because I had to wait over 30 minutes for her to come.

My daughter had an appointment earlier today and she called during her appointment looking frustrated .. I asked what was wrong she said just come here now ... so I got there I noticed that my daughters braids were very frizzy and showing her natural hair ... So Kaiser them why and they told me that it was cause her hair was natural but me being a hair professional myself and seeing this type of work numerous of times I knew it wasn’t right .. the woman was very combative and rude . Then when we said we wasn’t paying for the service . They proceed to cut the braids outta my daughters hair . Then I stopped the work demanded I pay her for the hair she used .. and followed us out the building yelling and telling us something in French .. which I assume was derogatory ... Don’t not send your kids or friends the are trash. Especially the bald old one

I have been to this salon a 3 times to get box braids. Each time I have had an appointment and still had to wait for them. The last time I went I had a 7 am appointment and they didn’t start my hair until 9:30. I told them the length I wanted and they gave me a price when I got there. After starting my hair the lady decided it would look better if the hair was longer and made them longer without my permission. She then told me the price would be higher. I refused to pay more money and the manager (I think she was the manager) said she would stick to the original price as a favor to me. I will NEVER get my hair braided here again!!

Very disappointed in their services. To start, my appointment was at 7AM and when I arrived, my braider was not there and did not arrive until 5 mins to 8AM to start my hair. They charged me $55 dollars more than what I usually pay to get my hair braided which I didn’t trip at first because if you are going to do a good job, I have no problem paying. HOWEVER, they did not. When I got home to actually style my hair, some of my hair at my root was not braided in until a little ways down the braid. My braids are inconsistent throughout my hair which causes my braids to lay funny. I also didn’t like how they would talk about certain customers that would come in and request something they couldn’t do.One girl came in and asked if they could braid a little looser than what they were doing. They got mad, stopped and then when she left, they talked about her.VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND I WILL NOT RETURN.

Every stylist does an amazing job. But I love Miss Cynthia. I only problem I have she always extremely busy so if I need her I have to call couple weeks in advance. Nice staff, organized, clean. Highly recommend this amazing braiding salon. Ms. B, Kadi, and the crew are amazing!! Ms. B is the truth, she makes sure you feel at home, confident with your service selection, and keeps you informed along the way. Shes definitely Auntie if you know what I mean. From the beginning, they confirm your style, make recommendations based upon your hair type, and immediately get to work. There may be a slight delay so add an extra 15 minutes to the start time. The salon is clean. I recommend bringing a good book, or something to keep you busy. I was blessed to have Kadi as my Braider, she was amazing. I had a vision coming in, and she exceeded my expectations bringing it to life. A few tips, the website is very informative so READ! It is possible you may not have the exact person you scheduled the appointment with. All the Braiders are skilled, so dont fret. Make sure you have cash, using debit or credit means a service fee. Have pictures of the style you want (be realistic if the braids are small/micros). I recommend stopping by a day before to confirm the style. Be patient, know the ladies work fast. I got small knotless braids, and it took about three and a half hours. The shop is definitely my First Choice for Hair Braiding! Enjoy!

(updated) Initially I had a bad experience due to one persons unprofessional-ism. I will not name that person. But the salon owner got involved and did what great business owners do. She willingly spoke to me and heard my grievances.3 days after my initial visit I was back in the salon chair. The owner personally took my appointment and removed the style that I was unhappy with and redid my hair. She even did the braids smaller without asking for me to pay more money)I am a happy camper and will gladly come back to sit in Ms. Cynthias (The owner) chair =)

Had to make an appointment for box braids last minute March 13th and they had two people braiding my hair. I was in and out in 3.5 hours. I’ve been coming here for years and will keep going back.

Best salon for braid, my favorite is kinky twist but the make me try something else today and I didnt regret it. They ladies are very nice, professional and the take their time doing a great job. I went in as a walk in and the took me immediately, I think because the had enough staff here, because normally you go to a braiding shop, you have to wait hours before you can getting in the chair. First Choice Hair Braiding is the TRUTH! As a first time customer I will definitely be back. I drove over 30 mins to get to the shop and won’t hesitate to do it again! The shop is very clean actually the cleanest braiding salon I’ve never been to. They even have light refreshments and beverages for their client which I thought was very sweet. First Choice Hair Braiding is a great braiding shop. They are always quick to start and quick to finish. My hair always looks neat. They are a little pricey compared to some of the other shops Ive been to but for the speed its worth it. I guess thats why they call it First Choice because theyve made it my First Choice when I need my hair done.

Walked in early to get my daughters hair braided. There were 3 girls available and none of them knew how to do the style I showed them. I even offered if they can do a style they know how to do for kids and they couldn’t. I was told a staff member that was on her way to the shop could do it then almost 40 mins of me waiting for her to get to the shop she tells me she can’t do her hair either. What’s the point of advertising braids if no one can help. I was really upset and we went somewhere else that saw her right away.

I called in advance to ask around for pricing on cornrows I needed 8 for the foundation of my hair. She told me 30$ for regular on the phone then when it got done she told me 60$ but this time 50$ cause its my first time. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING! Ive been with this braiding salon since the owner (Cynthia) first shop Number 1 hair braiding. I love this braiding salon, I have been to many others in and around Waldorf and none compares. I always get fast and beautiful braids. I have been keeping braids in my hair for over 4 years now. I wont go to any other braiding salon anymore and Cynthia always has good hair in many colors available.

Wow, was I ever impressed. Found FIRST CHOICE HAIR BRAIDING site online and said let give them a try. Went in at 6am on Friday morning and was I ever pleased with Cynthia work. Im still rocking my braids 4 weeks later and intend to go back. Im going natural and am at the in between stage and she gave me tips on what to use in my henna and made me feel right at home while in her salon . I would recommend her to anyone looking for great looking braids, affordable prices, not too tight and hair included. The shop is beautiful and clean. I had appointment on Friday May 17. I arrived a little early but I was taken to my seat immediately. I had sengelese twists. They are really pretty. Kadi did a great job. She completed my hair in about 3 hours. That is fast for these twists. I will definitely be going back again. I get compliments a lot since she did my hair.

When you first walk in its as if Its hard for them to say hello, I guess they pick and choose who they want to be nice to, my daughters stylist was excellent-loved her. 1 of the employees which I think was the owner kept making comments about making us wait, and even went far as to holler how much I tipped her- very unprofessional. First choice hair braiding I would not recommend anyone to go here they pulled my hair so tight my scalp was super red and they ripped my skin in my scalp my head was in so much pain this is unacceptable if you can’t section and braid my hair right y’all shouldn’t be doing it at all and then y’all charge me $200 dollars for me to get larger individual braids which took less time and wasn’t that long like that’s not okay like I said if your trying to get your hair done I wouldn’t go through first choice hair braiding at all I’m never going here ever again !
