A beautiful and wonderful place to visit and bring the family. It is like you are being transported back in time and it truly is a relaxing and peaceful place to be. The handmade items and crafts will be addictive so remember to bring money to pick a few things for your self and family. The blackberry creamed honey is amazing and the hand spun yarn is extravagant and beautiful. I cant wait to go back and get some bath salts to try as well.

Great people and faith. I was there (2020-01) during a prayer meeting being invited by Dutch employees. I felt welcome and keep warm memories of this all.Of course the Christian culture is determined and there is a difference between Texas and the Netherlands. That was not an issue for me.-> Stil cooking on the locally made iron pan :-)

This place is AMAZING. People are super friendly, everything they have tastes good and is fresh made. Especially the Cafe, they had the best burger Ive ever had the Cowboy coffee burger and their fries are better than McDonalds and thats saying something! I dont have enough good things to say about this place. My only complaint is that the horses they used for the hay ride are underweight by about 200-300 pounds.

We accidentally stumbled upon the Homestead Heritage today while in Waco. What a pleasant surprise! We enjoyed walking around the campus and exploring each of the shops and what they had to offer...pottery, basket weaving, blacksmith, pottery, and so many more. I wish we were in town longer so we could take one of their furniture making classes. I love that they teach others about their skills.

We had zero knowledge of this place before seeing it in an Airbnb things-to-do in the area. This place was as interesting as the Magnolia complex. It is a Christian community. For public consumption, they have a lot to offer in terms of practical, traditional crafts and homesteading. We spent at least 3-4 hours checking out their craft village (woodcrafts, pottery, blacksmithing, quilting, fiber crafts, basket weaving, a grist mill, cheese, etc). The craftsmanship is high quality. They have an extensive offering of classes and workshops. There is also a market, coffee shop, homesteading supplies shop, and a farm-to-table restaurant. Reservations recommended. The atmosphere was casual but the food was upscale. A little more pricey, but quality, presentation, and taste were excellent. There is also a local artist whose oil paintings of western landscapes adorn the dining rooms. They were wonderful and priced from $400-5000. If you are coming to Silos, do yourself a favor and save a day for this place. Its fabulous. Oh and a bed and breakfast opens in May. Its charming.

The people of this community are very friendly and hospitable. Furthermore, they pursue excellence and high quality in everything they do and make. They even teach courses there if you desire to learn some craftsman skill (weaving, blacksmithing, wood working, . . . ) The photos Im attaching include one of a wooden canoe theyve built for a customer. The operating grist mill there was originally built in 1760 by an associate of George Washington. It was later purchased and moved to this location. Interesting place. Great food in the cafe!

The entire Homestead Heritage village was impressive! We visited on our last day in Waco. We went to the general market, the coffee shop, the Homestead Cafe and most of the various shops in the craft village (pottery, woodworking, blacksmith and the Gristmill...there was also a fiber shop with materials but we didnt visit). The wait staff at the cafe were excellent! Very personable and attentive. The food was SO tasty! We ordered the Cowboy Coffee burger and the corn fritters...both amazingly good! I truly enjoyed going to the heritage craft village near Waco. The people I met are amazingly kind and sweet. I first met Sue on my way to the weaving shop and she was so kind to explain everything about the shop to me. I bought wonderful organic cotton for a first weaving project on my new to me loom. Afterwards I wandered around the beautiful grounds. I saw the forge, wood shop, gristmill and more. There is a true sense of community here and plan on going back for workshops. The village is open Monday through Saturday 10-6 and it’s an easy drive from DFW. I found out about the craft village when I stopped in at the tourist information center in Waco. They had a flyer and the ladies at the info center helped me with directions. For those interested in going for the day; there is a cafe on site and I saw lots of people who seemed happy with their lunch as they were leaving.

They offer classes on pottery and basketry and other crafts. The food is great although I dont reccomend the piña colada at the fair, I tried and it wasnt good at all. Besides that I loved everything I tried: pizza, kettle corn, organic cheese, yougurt with blueberries...They have a store and a cafe that opens all year long so I definitely reccomend visiting this place. Incredible fair and exibition put on the day after Thanksgiving. Ten dollars to park and MANY people with young children underfoot, but otherwise detailed displays of agrarian life including barn-raising demos, ferriers, and bee-keeping. Family atmosphere with demonstrations, animals, outdoor activities, crafts, and of course incredibly expensive artisinal products including jam, honey, scarves, baskets, coats, soaps and scents, and much more. There is an atm but most stands accepted cards. The food offerings were expansive. Lots of hot cider, coffees, teas, natural sodas and such. Even more baked goods such as the exquisite blueberry white chocolate cheescake. The food court offers homade options in Mexican, Mediterranean, Indian, American, and more. Cant go wrong with the gyros, homade falafel was delicious. All dining is outside on picnic tables and it was a beautiful day as well.
