Mermaid Factory offer a great experience. I called days in advance to book a table for my friend, her daughter, my daughter and I. It was quick and easy. When we arrived they had our table set up. The Mermaid Factory is set up like an art studio. There are other mermaids, dolphins, sharks, and seashell molds set up on display for inspiration.There is a wide selection of paint and embellishments for decorating your clay mold. I love how they even have togo packages for gift or to do at home. Upon finishing they put your art work in a safe box to carry home.My friends and daughter had such a blast. The only thing is I thought it was quite pricey between the materials and fees. However, I still recommend this place for a family experience, children play dates, and even girls night.

Mermaid Factory is a great place to go on a rainy day or when visitors come from out of town. The day we went, the employee was playing strange music. Not what you expect to hear when you are at a beach themed business in the USA. Some nice beach music, or even top 40 or country music would have been better than the music that was playing. The employee explained it was Arab music and she was playing it because she enjoyed it. She was learning the language. None of the customers spoke Arabic. I asked the other two families in the shop if they were enjoying the music and they all said. “No”. If there had been Arab customers there that had requested it, that would have been a different story because they would have understood the words but all of the paying customers were listening to the staff’s choice of music which was foreign to us and wasn’t uplifting, beachy or fun for the kids.Also, remember when you pay for all the decorations, you can take the leftovers with you. The employee didn’t want us to take the leftover rhinestones and glittery stuff with us until my daughter reminded her that we had payed for them.

So much fun! Lots of choices of things to paint, mermaid, dolphin, turtle, shell, narwhal. Every color you could want, glitter, decorations, shells, ribbons, twine, let your imagination run wild!

I’ve sat in at the Norfolk store, but this was my first trip to the VB location. I went in to pick up a couple of to go kits since I figured it would be a bit crowded on a Friday. Maddie was very friendly and patient, even considering how busy it was. She was attending to several customers at once and got everyone what they needed. I decided to write a review just because I was impressed with how well she handled it all. As someone who works in customer service, I appreciate her hard work.

Our group had a fantastic time here! We originally had reservations at the Mermaid Factory in Norfolk, but were worried wed be rushed to get back for our dinner reservations. Thankfully it was on a slower weekday and they were able to take our group even though were were a few minutes behind their start time. The girls working were very helpful and got us started right away. There are tons of paints to choose from and also little embellishments for a small extra fee (starting at .25 cents). It took our group about 2 hours to get our creativity on. They box your mermaid up to help keep her safe during your travels. They also have a little shop with mermaid merchandise. If youre looking for a fun souvenir you can customize, this is the place!

I absolutely loved this place!!! My husband and I went in while we were on vacation. Its an amazing experience and we had so much fun! Jessica is the best!! We went full out nerd and went Harry Potter themed. I did Slytherin and my husband did Aquamort 😂 (Mermaid Voldemort) we will definitely be back!!

Super fun and relaxing activity for all ages. My kids (8,11, 15) all had a blast. There’s also a ton of options to personalize your mold with. Definitely recommend if your close by!

I have nothing but great things to say about this place. The attendants were so nice and helpful but most importantly patient! We brought 11 or 12 kids so the staff there made it GREAT! WOULD RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE!!!

We had a blast for Valentine’s Day this year!My husband and I spent about 2 and a half hours there. The gentleman that was working was extremely helpful but also respected our space. We will definitely return!

This place is AMZING. So fun and the folks there are super nice and help ya get what you need for inspiration in the art studio. And lots of cool unique gifts too.

My daughter really enjoyed picking out mermaid gifts. She also brought a mermaid sculpture to paint at home.

Went in for a gift for my niece and mother for Christmas, if you are into mermaids there is some neet knick-knacks in there. Staff is VERY friendly.

If I lived closer, I would be there every day! The staff make the experience fun with their creative ideas, the shop is large enough to move around, and the selection of mermaids and dolphins are as big as your imagination! I have made two mermaids already. I want to make more! I love the samples of the different mermaids and dolphins to spark your imagination. Big thumbs up to the owners and staff for making this shop a wonderful place that is beach, but different because you dont just buy, you make it!

Great option for a different kind of experience at the Oceanfront. Would seem like an ideal destination for a dreary or rainy beach day. My niece always has a wonderful time creating her mermaid masterpiece. Let you and your childrens creative juices flow and end up with their/your own personal memento from the day.

My granddaughters had so much fun painting and decorating their mermaids! Id recommend Mermaid Factory to young and old alike! Nice relaxing atmosphere and everything you need to create the perfect mermaid!

Wether you create in store or buy a kit to go, its a piece of Virginia Beach/Norfolk you keep. Between my husband and I we have 3 mermaids and 2 dolphins, looking at them reminds of when we lived there but also the fun we had creating them. It really is a great experience.

A unique and local paint your own mermaid shop. The staff are very warm and friendly. I didnt take a class, so I cannot comment on that experience, but their shop had all things mermaid. It was decorated nicely, not too cluttered. I am coming back for a class.

I take anyone visiting from out of town here. Prices are perfect. Atmosphere is great you can just sit and hang out while painting your mermaid. Staff are very helpful.

I am from out of town and we planned to come here... We looked up online and Google has it listed being open on 5/29/19, upon arrival we were greeted with a note that said ONLY Friday, Saturday and Sunday!!! So my feelings were crushed! I walked for 5 minutes because, the Trolly does not drop you off...

Came here to celebrate my anniversary because my husband is deployed. We had the absolute worst experience. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I have been here more times than I can count. We are a military family and have relatives visit all the time and we would always bring them here. NEVER AGAIN. I brought my three friends here for a fun Sunday activity after church. They had never been and were so excited to try this place out, but my friend asked for help setting up her color palette and the girl was SO RUDE. She was asking questions and the woman interrupted her and said ONE THING AT A TIME, among other rude things. We blew it off, then they accused my friend of being drunk, she was NOT. She had a single beer more than an hour before we arrived. So after 2 different people were rude to her, we decided to leave. The clerk chased us out of the door and told us we needed to support small business. Im sorry?? We couldnt finish our mermaids and they made one of our party members so upset she was crying in the parking lot. Awful. We will never be back.

You can paint a mermaid or a dolphin but you have to be a bit more careful with the dolphin because it does not have anything to hold it down because of the tail they will fix it for free if it breaks.
