Awesome service.I walked in with my boy to get a skate board for him. The sales guy showed us a huge selection and guided my boy through the selection process. Once all the parts were selected, he assembled the board for him and made sure everything is okay.Great customer service, great selection, great experience.I highly recommend this store.

Whenever I play tourist in Virginia Beach one of stops is always 17th street for a t-shirt!

The girls that work there are the sweetest and so helpful. They carry so much good stuff from their own brand, hurley, o’neil, roxy, they even have puravida. And of course they have surf boards. Nothing but good vibes in there. Highly recommend to anyone in the area!!!

We were so excited to find this shop, but ended up leaving empty handed. We got there around 8:30p (on 6/9/21) and after a few minutes of shopping around I asked one of the guys working if they closed at 9p, and he said “yes. you guys have plenty of time.” So my friend and I continued to shop around for a few minutes, and we decided we better try our stuff on so we could get out of there before close. I walked over to one of the staff who was doing his closing inventory counts on the sunglasses so I waited for a few seconds thinking he’d acknowledge me when he was done. He never looked my way. We then asked another employee to open them for us, and she said “I’m sorry they close 15 minutes before close.” Highly disappointed that information wasn’t told to us before it was too late (like when I asked about closing and was told “plenty of time”). I completely understand what it’s like to be ready to get out of there ASAP after a shift, but I would have thought someone would have appreciated the sales. Thanks for hearing me out. Love the shop otherwise.

Store layout is cool. Selection is decent. Prices absolutely insane...naw, not gonna happen. Maybe just a tourist destination??? Its a bummer that we have to go to the internet to get sensible pricing, Id much rather support a brick & mortar store like this....but just on principle alone, this place is cost prohibitive.

Unfortunately they didn’t have what I was looking for and wouldn’t till late month/may time frame. I had intentions of purchasing a pair of Sanuks’ for my trip and I’ve gone to a couple stores to find a certain style/color.One thing I noticed when we walked in off bat no one let us know where anything was and didn’t offer help unless I initiated the question. Also we weren’t informed of any promotions or sales that were occurring. Majority of their workers were huddled up and having casual conversation. I wouldn’t recommend coming here. Just go to Costal Edge and get better service there.

The best place to get all your surfing and skateboarding needs. This place has everything you can want not only in Virginia but practically on the East Coast for surfing and skating five stars all the way

Unfriendly staff. They never asked if we needed help even though we were obviously looking to purchase. They were too busy chatting with each other and talking about what they did last night. Its more of a clothing shop since they left their original building. We ending up going to a real surf shop WRV.

A nice variety of items from both surf and skate. The t shirts are my personal favorite, and, because its smack in the middle of downtown va beach, you can hit 17th street right before spending an afternoon at the beach.

Greatest Shop Ever

One of the best and separately one of the biggest surf shops Ive been to. I love getting summer tanks at surf shops because I think its the best place to find them so I always find myself in surf shops around the country even though Ive never been on a board. I went in on this visit to find a particular pair of shorts that fit me really well. The sales guys were helping me when another guy, who I wasnt even sure if he worked there, stepped in and took over. This guy was amazing. He knew so much about the shorts you could swear he worked for quicksilver. Im pretty sure the guys name was Tyler, bit its irrelevant because when I went to pay him a compliment to the manager I find out that (younger) guy is the owner. Thats really great that the owner has such great product knowledge and more importantly still takes the time out to help a single customer.

I love 17th Street Surf Shop. I buy most of my apparel from here on my spontaneous day trips. Their printed graphic long sleeve shirts are my favorite apparel item. I bought two plate frames from here in 2010 and they’ve held up throughout some very strenuous conditions. They still look fresh after almost ten years on my vehicles. Durable as can be. They offer skateboards, surf boards, other various souvenir trinkets, beach wear, bathing suits, sunglasses, watches, and much, much more.

Went in to buy a new soft board and saw plenty of employees sitting around the counter and asked out loud if someone could help get a board and they just looked at me and continued talking and being on their phones so I had to leave and buy one at a different store then called to tell them I tried to buy a board and your employees wouldn’t help and was told there numbers are great and it didn’t doesnt soooo

Best surf shop in town. I get all my gear here. It was the place I got all my skate boards and surf equipment growing up. Now its the place for all my sons surf and skim board needs. Staff is very helpful knowledgeable. They go out of there way to help you and educate you.

Excellent place to get quality apparel along the oceanfront. Most of the small shops that sell Virginia Beach apparel, sell cheaply made stuff that doesnt last. At 17th street, youll find super high quality clothing such as Patagonia.

The location in Greenbriar doesnt carry much for surfing. Its more so just a skate shop

Parking is available in front of the store. The employees greet you when you walk in. The store has a large selection of clothing for men and woman of all ages and sizes. There were deals and discounts on merchandise. The employees are friendly and ask if you need help.

Excellent place of business! So, I roller blade. One of my wheels popped off. A gentleman named Ben assisted me as soon as I walked through the door. He provided the best customer service Ive ever received, hands down. Not only did he show me how to replace the axle i needed, he put it on for me, since I am a noob. Now, my skates legitimately ride better than when I took them out of the box brand spankin new :) I guess what Im trying to say, Arnold said more succinctly... Ill be back!

The staff must have been having an off day. They were not friendly and gave off a very rude vibe. I wasnt greeted. And when I got to the register and said hello the two girls behind the counter didnt return a greeting. Unfortunate because I love surf ships.

Brought my 8 year old son there to buy a skateboard and while we were shopping he needed a bathroom and none of the staff there would let use the restroom so we ended up having to go somewhere else. I will never return to this store or recommend it to anyone else.

Definitely one of my favorite stores growing up as a skater. Got all my boards, hardware & apparel from there. Still do whenever I visit Va Beach since they closed the one in Newport News where I currently reside.

Growing up in va beach this was the Mecca of surf shops. Unfortunately I never got to go. Upon my return to va beach as an adult I immediatley got a beer and oysters and headed down to the shop. I was giddy with excitement. The staff was super friendly and understood my journey. Their knowledge on products superb and helpful. Ah man I never leave reviews. But thanks guys this was awesome. Will be back to grab a board tomorrow just gotta juice up the old lady a little more. If not I will be back next year.

I used to come here and shop when I lived in Va. Beach 20+ years ago and now live in Michigan (you can take me away from the ocean, but not take the ocean from me). I am planning on coming back and shop there again.

I might be biased because my sister worked here briefly back in the 80s, however Ive been buying stuff from these guys for decades and I still love it, just a freaking awesome store!!!
