Amazing selection for a good price. By far the best record store in the 757 no question. The staff is amazing every time I go. It’s definitely a pleasure to come to this store and check out their selection. On top of that they have amazing book selections for very cheap as well. 10/10 would recommend especially if you like collecting vinyl.

This was my first time here, so these are my first impressions. First, the store is large and is packed with merchandise! Second, it had great tunes going and incense burning. Reminded me of record stores and head shops of my youth. Third, I went to buy records and their selection was AMAZING! I spent an hour in there looking through stuff, and if I wasnt hungry for lunch, easily could have spent another hour! Prices were comparable to other record stores. I absolutely love AFK. The atmosphere is great, staff/owners are great, selection is great, and Jazz is extra-great. :-) I stop in every couple of weeks and always find things on my to-read list and some new titles as well. Its nice to talk books and music with people who share a passion for both. If they dont have it, they can get it. Do yourself a favor and stop by - you wont regret it!

This place is great! I picked up 3 books in a series I have been looking to get into for about the cost of one of the books new. My wife scooped up one as well. I will definitely be back to look more at the music and novelty items they have there.

Great staff, who are friendly and know their inventory extremely well. Its very comfortable like all good classic independent bookstores, but still manages a very clean and modern feel. The parking lot is super easy to get in and out.

My daughter and I come in at least once a week to buy new books. Mr. John and Emily are always so helpful and kind. There is a wide variety of books, vinyl records and dvds. And when Jaz is there, she makes the place even more happier.

Great selection especially punk/metal/indie. Everything is very nicely organized within its genre. Great used selection which is always updated. A decent collection of 7”s and cd’s. Posters. Stereo equipment (real turntables not just plastic garbage) and shirts. Incredible staff who is helpful and knowledgeable. MOST IMPORTANTLY: there is no snarky vibe to the shop. Super low-key. Always friendly. This is my favorite record shop in the 757.

AFK is a great record store with a huge selection of music, both new and used. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and more than willing to help you track down an item that you are looking for. They are a great place to keep up with local music, new releases, and they always have awesome giveaways going on. Theyll even buy your records for a fair price if its something they can use in inventory. I cant speak on the book portion of the store, but Id have to imagine its just as nice and well organized as the music portion of the store. They are truly a one stop shop for all things vinyl.

Great place to find cheap, slightly used books, records, video games and records. You can purchase T shirts, posters and just about anything that deals with music and movies here. Friendly staff and an overall great place to visit!

AMAZING shop. Looks brand new on the inside, and smells great. Enormous music selection, massive and well organized books section. Book prices are typical (50% off retail, used) but condition is almost entirely like new. Staff is friendly and approachable and not breathing down your neck. Absolutely recommend.

It’s difficult to find a used book store that’s clean, well stocked and organized. AFK is the exception and always on our list to stop in when in the Virginia Beach area. And there’s more than books. I enjoy browsing the DVD’s and the vinyl section. AFK does not disappoint!

This place is outstanding. Excellent selection of records and books. They also have a nice selection of modern Dungeons & Dragons materials. The prices werent as good as HPB, But they definitely had more soul. I really like this store.

Their books are fair priced. Its very organized! I was able to find a few books on the subjects I wanted (3 total) and paid about $30 total. Not bad

This is without a doubt, my favorite bookstore. I avoid going to large chain book stores because the cost of new books has gotten outrageous. I always find great deals in AFK and never leave empty handed. They are always well stocked and willing to order anything that they dont have in stock. The store is always neat and clean and the staff has always been very friendly and helpful.

Only been in there once but I really liked it. This store has a great selection of books, movies, CDs, and vinyl records sectioned out by genre. The 2 staff members I dealt with were very friendly. Only problem is there is so much I could easily spend hours in there. Will definitely be going back.

This store is RAD. My parents live on the Eastern Shore, so I travel through Virginia Beach a lot, and I always stop by AFK. They have an awesome selection of stuff, and I always walk out surprised at what Ive found! The staff is welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. Theyre always recommending me stuff and answering a million dumb questions from me!Also, the bathrooms are clean, neat, and gender-neutral.All in all, AFK is easily one of my favorite bookstores, and I highly recommend it!

Good records, good people, good location

A very organizatized record and book store that has a wide variety of music and other media, and a helpful staff.

Great store has an amazing selection of books, movies, comics, etc. Only issue is when special ordering books make sure you get confirmation that they will order it. Ordered a book on Sunday and was told it would be there Wednesday. Wednesday came, I went in to pick up my book and was told that it was not even ordered yet. Was told it was busy Sunday and they never got around to it, but was then told that the distributor they get the book from only takes orders when they get to a certain price. Which was not disclosed to me when I originally ordered. I went ahead and cancelled the order and plan to get the book somewhere else. If I hadnt gone in and waited for them to call me Im not sure when I wouldve gotten my book. Be iffy when special ordering books and stick with what they have on the shelf...other then that great place with great prices, deals, and sales.

Staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable. Store is clean and comfortable feeling. Love the chair to sit in while my daughter browses and Im finished ahead of her.
