This is a local business that takes care of locals. (They probably take good care of visitors as well.) They have been great over the years helping me keep my little, old car running well so that I dont have to buy a new one. I appreciate that they care so much and do a great job in a timely fashion.

Out of state and had a strut break on our car. They opened at 8 but I had training. Dropped it at 7 hoping I could get ahold of them and get it fixed. Not only was someone there they had it diagnosed and fixed buy 11. Very nice and great customer service

I’ve been going to 17th St. automotive since I first got my car and my entire family has been going there for years. We always speak to Joel and he always gives us the best deal and the most professional service but recently since he has not been at this business anymore things have gone downhill. I take my car to get a simple oil change and come back home to my car leaking oil for the next four days and the check engine light is turned on. I haven’t been able to bring my car up because for some reason they are closed on the weekends now? not to mention when I spoke to someone on the phone about this I was not quite taken seriously. sad to say after years of going here I definitely will not anymore. A simple oil change is probably now going to cost hundreds of dollars in repairs (not to mention my brand new driveway is stained with oil) because of how unprofessional you guys have become.

Weve been coming here for years and will keep coming back. Its so relieving to find a repair place that has integrity and honest quoting. The fact that theyre so honest will keep me coming back for as long as I live here.

We are from out-of-state, when my car started to overheat. When i pulled up to the shop it was 2:30pm and they closed at 3pm, they looked and said i needed a belt. They fixed my car in under 30 mins. They are amazing at what they do!

They were much quicker than I anticipated and very knowledgeable and professional. Ill definitely be using them again in the future!

I like taking my Volvo to 17th Street Automotive for the following reasons: I get to know the mechanic, Joel, who works on the car. He always errs on the cautious side of recommending repairs. A recent example: The cars system gave me an alarm alert of a major malfunction. He reset the electronics and the problem went away, although he did caution that it might come back in which case he would do further diagnostics. I was charged only $20 dollars. The car ran well for four more weeks and then, just as he had indicated, the problem recurred. Upon further diagnostics it turned out to be a fuel sensor, which cost a little over $300.The other reason I like taking my car there is that I can usually receive service either the same day or the next. No waiting for several weeks like at the dealership.All the technicians are highly competent and they are all friendly and courteous. :)

17th St. Auto is truly the best repair shop you can go to. They are fast, honest (which is super important for us females as I feel like auto places are always trying to pull one over on us) and they wont try to tell you something needs replaced just to squeeze extra money from you. Dont take your vehicle anywhere else.

Water pump started leaking coolant on the last day of our vacation. Took the car here and they had us in and out super fast. Right next to the beach so we went swimming while they worked on it. Definitely recommend!

Really nice people! Fixed my tire and had me on my way. Called the next day to make sure I was satisfied. I highly recommend them especially in an emergency!

My son was in VA Beach on vacation when his car started leaking coolant. These guys got it diagnosed late on a Sunday afternoon and fixed the Water Pump and Thermostat and had him on the highway by Monday afternoon and didn’t charge him a ridiculous price as an out of towner. Super nice and professional. You can’t go wrong using them for your vehicle.

Beware of this shop! If you have a vehicle inspection they will always find something. I have had my cars inspected and worked on there for the last 4 years and today they failed me for something that is not lawful. The law states: Not legal if ANY part of the wheels/tires come in contact with he frame or suspension under NORMAL operating conditions They tried to convince me that steering locked out all the way is normal driving conditions.

Great service! The mechanics are honest, upfront and do a great job. Its right by the boardwalk so you can do some shopping or lounge on the beach while they service your car. I live 20 min away but always make the drive to come here when I need something done.

Joel and his crew went above and beyond to help me out. On a family trip from North Jersey, my brakes began grinding pretty badly in Delaware. I called Joel and asked for a bit of help. He was able to get my truck right in and fix the brakes and another issue he found. I believe he even put his local customers on hold in order to help me out. If that isnt service, I dont know what is! Outstanding service station and, while I hope I dont need it again, if Im ever in VA Beach again, I will be sure to come see Joel and his crew!

Took my car for an inspection before I went to meet a potential buyer. Fairly new luxury car in pretty good condition, never been smoked in. The guys who did the inspection had the nerve to smoke in my car!!! Now it smells. I just cant believe the audacity and lack of respect from people.

I had forgotten to have my car inspected on time and they kindly agreed to inspect it for me at short notice without an appointment. And they made the needed repairs quickly and at a reasonable cost.The two ladies I talked to behind the counter were very helpful and kind to me as well.I would highly recommend 17th. This service shop is top notch in my book. We have used them on several occasions and they are always honest and upfront. Just recently we had to take our Jeep a Jeep Dealership for a computer issue. When we picked it up they recommended thousands of dollars’ worth of work to be done. I then took it to BP to have an oil change and check some of the things the dealership mentioned and they said they were not needed. They didn’t even charge checking these things, just the oil change.

Rick and his service team ALWAYS do excellent work on my vehicle, and their repair work NEVER costs more than the estimated value, and often ends up costing quite a bit less.Its a clean shop with consistently friendly staff. I would recommend to anyone without hesitation.

I JUST SPENT MONEY I GUESS EATING HER WATERMELON AND TALKING TO THR MECHANICS WAS MORE IMPORTANTI WILL NOT SPEND ANOTHER DIME HERE VERY RUDE TO LOYAL CUSTOMERS!!!!!!! AND FYI YOU GUYS ARE A GAS STATION WITH RESTROOMS SO IF I HAD A BABY AND SHE MESSED UP HER DRESS YOU STILL GONNA TELL ME NO.. SAD

Quickly took care of my inspection!

In Virginia Beach near the beachfront. Great service, never a problem with anything they have done for me. The shop is clean and everyone there is friendly.

Our active duty son’s car had been out of inspection for several months. Not wanting to ask for help, he didn’t call home to let anyone know there were problems with the vehicle, so it sat without being driven. We found out during a spur-of-the-moment visit about the issue. There were dash lights on and multiple noises and it couldn’t pass inspection if it had to. My husband went over the problems and had O’Reilley’s diagnose the computer codes, but didn’t have the tools or time to make as many repairs as were required.We found 17th Street Automotive online, and after reading numerous glowing reviews about their honesty, called for an appointment. We explained our situation, that we were visiting from out-of-state, and that we weren’t even sure our son’s car was worth fixing, but asked for an estimate of repairs necessary to pass VA inspection. We also inquired about the scope of work able to be performed at the shop, finding the site’s services to be comprehensive. My husband had a good idea what was wrong with the car before calling, which made the final list of problems easy to accept. We would vouch for their honesty. Joel at 17th Street was courteous and flexible. He told us he would estimate repairs and we could work out payment if we decided to proceed with the work (the only downside to 17th Street is they can’t or won’t take credit card payments over the phone).Our son dropped off his car and within a couple of days we had an estimate of approximately $1600.00: oil change, spark plug change, cleaning of carbon deposits, wheel bearings, MAP sensor, inspection, and rear rotors and pads. The work was completed in a timely fashion for slightly less money than we were quoted. My son says the car now runs like a champ. No noises and no lights. I mailed a cashier’s check to the shop and when they received it, my son was able to pick up his car. I can’t thank 17th Street Automotive enough for taking a leap of faith. Military families are separated by miles and we, as military parents, do the best we can under the circumstances. Kudos to Joel and crew for helping take care of our sailor.

Took in car for inspection they called me with a price of repair for $740 to repair so it would pass inspection . I declined and went to pick up vehicle so I asked for a price breakdown they said ver rudely you will have to wait. Once they gave me a breakdown I noticed the light he said over the phone that costed a Hundred so dollars to replace was only 25 $. This makes no sense to me because i had changed one out myself at over a hundred before what were they going to do repair it .SHADY !!!!!! Went elsewhere for inspection cost me 200$ . Saved 500$

I asked them to change just oil and antifreeze, they changed oil filter too, which was not necessary. They charged me 90$. The next day the engine started heating up too much and I discovered no antifreeze in there! The car is old one but it has no any leakage in cooling system, so antifreeze could not just disappear. Shame on them! I would give 0 star.
