The initial salesperson was wonderful. Follow up communication regarding delayed delivery was horrible.Scheduling of insulation was terribly unprofessional. Initial installation was incomplete resulting in a failed inspection. The installer was friendly and courteous. Communication and organization of office staff was way below expected. Phone calls were not returned. Installer showed up without scheduling having been made. Installer showed up and stated there would be extra charge to take mini blinds down. We were never informed to take any blinds down ahead of time.After the installer returned a second time he left before cleaning windows, removing caulking that got on the windows, and stickers from the windows. We called the office and left a message asking if they were going to come and finish the job. There was no return phone call. Our mistake we paid them in full before ensuring the job would be completed. This organization is not trustworthy. They will not complete the job as expected. They will not schedule or coordinate the job appropriately, and in our experience took the money and ran without completing the job sufficiently.Theres no reasonable explanation for not returning calls to customers. If there is prep work that needs to be done for an installation customer should be informed of that ahead of time before theyre told theyre going to be charged extra. If installers get caulking all over the windows they should remove that as part of completing the job. If there are handprints and stickers all over both sides of the windows from the installers those should be cleaned as part of doing a professional job in my opinion.They also ripped a screen during installation which, appropriately, they replaced. Overall the salesman was wonderful the installer was kind and professional and the business and its organization seems far below par at best and possibly unethical.Im just surprised they dont have more pride in their work. Maybe thats just me being an old-timer.

We are very pleased with the quality and workmanship of our new rolling armor screen. Russell was our salesman and he was very informative. We were strongly considering hiring another company that would have cost us less money but Russells product knowledge and advice won us over. Our installers, James and Chris were also very professional and detail oriented. They did a great job. We would highly recommend them.

We have 2 roll-down aluminum shutters that all of a sudden did not roll down. It took about a month for Jansen repairmen to come to our house. I am not happy that it took so long, but I understand they are very busy. When Jansen repairmen (Paul and Sebastian) did arrive, they were professional and technically competent. They determined that the shutters came off track and observed that our house was recently painted. Hence, they surmised that the painters pushed them up and caused the shutters to get off track. I was impressed that Paul was able to come up with a reason why both shutters came off track. It did not take Paul and Sebastian long to fix them, and they departed. After they left, I tried to roll down one of the shutters manually, but it did not seem to come down. I called the office and explained the problem. Paul and Sebastian came back within an hour and showed me how to get the manual crank to work and explained that the gear ratio on this size shutter is such that it comes down very slowly as you crank. I was very happy that everything worked when they left the second time, and that plausible explanations were provided for what went wrong. My only complaint is that it took a month after I called for me to get an appointment for the repair. It turned out that Tropical Storm Elsa was coming. Luckily, the storm was mild here. However, if the storm had built up to a powerful hurricane, we could have suffered substantial damage.

I cant express strongly enough how happy we were with their professionalism, quality of the shutters, and the installation process from start to finish. They were also less expensive than the smaller local shutter companies. Jansen installed accordian storm shutters on our home in 2017. Their proposal was prompt, professional and competitive. The appearance of the shutters even passed the scrutiny of a critical HOA ARC committee! Today they have retained that great appearance and have added a sense of security during the storm season. I think they will also add to the value of our home when resold.

I purchased electric blinds five years ago. One stopped working and they came immediately to take it down. After a couple of weeks and several trips, they had to order a new motor. Ordered wrong motor. Waited another month or two. They set install time and date and no showed. I called and set another time and date and they no showed. I cancelled my job and highly recommend never using them. Terribly irresponsible. Wasted many days waiting.

Jansen installed a SUNAIR awning on my house which is a very nice and high quality awning. Justine at Jansen has been great. Actually, outstanding and exceptional in being very responsive to all requests, in maintaining continuing communication regarding scheduling, and in coordinating all other interactions with Jansen. Paul did a great job on installation. Very conscientious and did a very neat job attending to every detail taking whatever time was necessary to execute a quality installation. Everyone has been very professional and friendly.

Chris and Nick arrived promptly, fixed my problem which was a key broken in the lock of one of the shutters, and then they walked all around the house trying all my keys in all of the shutter locks, and also lubricating all of the locks. I had not previously been instructed to lubricate the locks, so I immediately went out and bought a can of the same stuff they had used. They showed me how to lubricate the locks. Additionally, several of the velcro straps broke as the men were fastening the shutters, but they and the office assured me that they would bring some more straps the next time they are in my neighborhood.Both young men were completely knowledgeable and professional, and clearly explained how I could better manage the use of the shutters. They answered all my questions, and were as friendly and pleasant as they could be. I would be happy to have them back again if I ever have another problem with my shutters. By the way, I have had the aluminum accordion shutters for four years now and have used them during several of our Florida storms. They give me a great sense of security. I have recommended Jansen to several of my neighbors. I am so glad I made this investment. Thank you Jansen.

Jansen added a variety of storm protection to my entire house including: powered drop down wind screens, manual fastened wind screens, metal rolling shutters, decorative Bahama Shutters and polycarbonate window panels. Although it took a long time to get everything installed the job was completed 100% to my satisfaction. I would recommend Jansen to anyone considering storm protection for their home.

This is one first rate company. Their clear, lightweight. polycarbonate shutters offer protection up to 140 miles and are easy to install. They dealt with our condo association and the county for permits and inspections. It takes time for quality, but was well worth the wait. The installation took at most 3 hours and the racks are unobtrusive and match our outside decor. I am the other side of 60 and had no problem lifting and attaching the shutters with their uncomplicated wing nut and bolt system. I feel so much better going into hurricane season knowing I can easily shutter the entire house. I heartily recommend them.

I ordered shutters from them back in the end of May beginning of June and the sales person of course offered the world but couldnt manage to deliver a pebbles worth of that promise! I paid them the 50% deposit upon agreement of the product I was told it would be three weeks until install and I said perfect just let me know and I can make arrangements. Two weeks later I hadnt heard so I called the sales person and he told me that scheduling was not his area and I needed to call the office [what a sales guy right!]. I called the office and the folks at the office told me I would need to get a re-measure of my windows before they would schedule install, I agreed and asked when that would take place, they said two to three weeks for the re-measure. I asked to speak to the manager and I explained the situation and asked if they could make arrangements to the schedule since I had emails from the sales person saying it would be three weeks to install, I was basically laughed at and he said straight NO, see you in 2 to 3 weeks [what a joke of a company and customer service]! 2 weeks later they came to re-measure and I asked them at that time when install would be and I was told 3-4 weeks out for that too, see where this is going... They have half my money and I have nothing to show for it 5 weeks later, but wait it gets even better. So they never called and I kept calling and asking for schedule they kept telling me they would call me back with a date but they did not why would they, they have half the money and know I am stuck waiting for them at this point so oh well right. I finally got an install date about 3 weeks later [now we are 8 weeks after I stroked a check and was told it would be 3 weeks to install]. Two weeks later someone showed up and installed my shutters, they did decent work but I take alot of pride in my home so I expect the same quality as if I was doing the work so they apparently dont have the same standards, not even close. They also left small sharp pieces of metal scattered throughout my yard as a nice little present for my kids that run around barefoot to slice up there feet with [thank you for that!] Good news is they didnt charge me for them or make me wait another 8 weeks to add them to the grass for me! They also never finished the storage brackets in the garage and I have called a few times on it, they even made an appointment to complete the storage rack but they never showed up for the appointment they set.CONCLUSION: Run away as fast as you can if you here the Name JANSEN in anything you are looking to purchase!PS... They brag about being Veteran and Military Friendly, offering discounts to those who have and do serve but I asked about it and guess what they said... You probably dont have to guess and can figure out they are not honoring that statement either. What type of company says they do things like this and then doesnt honor it, I will tell you... a company that LIES about everything!RUN AWAY FROM JANSEN, if you cant run just grab the first passing vehicle and hold on for dear life - it would be better then dealing with them!!!

I was admittedly nervous and naive when it came to choosing a company to install my hurricane shutters, then I stopped in and met Phil and his son Travis at Jansen shutters in Venice. They were both super welcoming, polite and very informative throughout the whole process. Any question I had and even some I didn’t think to ask they not only had the answer, they explained it to me in a way that a novice like myself could understand. Great customer service. Overall great experience. I was impressed with the crew doing the work. They worked very hard and demonstrated as explained my products that I had installed. Within a couple day upon completion I got a call and a visit from their quality control and he came out did a walk through and answered all questions. We purchased hurricane accordion shutters for our sliding glass doors, and selected Jansen due to a neighbors recommendation. It was a highly satisfactory experience from beginning to end of project. Jansen staff has been professional, friendly and very responsive at all points of contact, and the manufacture and installation of shutters was timely and as promised. We were kept informed along the way and the installer, AJ, was thorough, quick, professional, pleasant and worked neatly, taking up all debris and dust: all 4 sliders and front door shutters were installed in less than 6 hours. Office staff (Amy, Lisa, Anthony and Rick) were a pleasure. I highly recommend.

I’m A) Phil Jansen’s son-in-law and B) not a customer. But I’ve known Phil for some 10 years now. And if there’s one word that jumps out at me to describe him, it’s “integrity.” Running a business is hard. A business owner needs passion in order to make it. A business owner has to consistently prioritize customer needs over his or her own.I know that Jansen Shutters is growing, quickly. With growth comes new business processes which take time to implement. Customer communication can sometimes suffer until these processes catch up.And I think that’s the crux of what I read here as it relates to people’s frustration in some of these reviews. I know the great folks at Jansen Shutters are working hard to catch up with growth, and that they care deeply about keeping people safe during hurricane season.

The Adams Homes builder used Jansen as the contractor for installing my homes hurricane shutters. During hurricane Irma I had an issue with the shutters. Amanda sent a technician out to repair and take care of the issue. Both Amanda and the technician are receiving a BIG kudos from me. She was extremely pleasant and worked at getting the issue fix!!! I would like to thank the Jansen team for resolving my issues with the storm shutter installation. ThanksI went to put my shutters up today, I hired a crew to put them up and realized they missed 67 wing nuts. Also the workmanship on drilling the looks like a 3rd grader was doing the measuring. I am out a lot of money and no shutters and with a massive hurricane coming. Wow!!!!!!!

Took 6 months after paying to find out we were not even in their books scheduled for installation. Installers brought Wrong and missing items and had to come out the total times. Once to re-measure. Took over 8 months to get them installed. Shutters could not tighten and kept closing on their own. Now they are rusting.I have photos but can’t attach them at this point of review.We used Jason andSpent three more money because of their reputation.We learned the hard andExpensive way not to use them anymore..There’s no way to reply so how can I talk about rectifying our Rusty shutter’s.. we spent a fortune for them..Update: I received a reply on an online review from company that they will rectify rusted shutters. I’ve never heard back from them again.

I requested a quote for hurricane windows in September. The salesman was 1 hour late, then told me he could only stay for a few minutes b/c he had to go to a doctors appointment. He could not do simple math when trying to give examples of the new code. He never got back with a quote. I called the company to express my concerns and was told Mr. Jansen would call back. Never did. AVOID if you want to save time and aggravation.

Just a note to let you know what a GREAT JOB the two young men are doing here. They work very hard and take a lot of pride in their workmanship.I feel sorry for them that the screens came cut wrong. Their disappointment was very saddening.You can feel proud to have these young men represent your company. The technicians of this company drive their vehicles with no regards for anyones safety, on the road. On more than one occasion, they have passed by me doing well over the speed limit, weaving in and out of traffic. Ive called their supervisor Amy, to a rude backlash and to a prompt hang-up. I have now called the state troopers to put an end to this destructive driving. My daughters are in the car while these guys tailgate me in my much smaller vehicle. Next step is going in to their office and speaking to everyone, including the owner. Get your employees in check before I do....

If I could give zero stars I would. DO NOT USE this company. When I put up the shutters for Irma I found all kinds of parts missing. When I looked at the photos which proved they had installed everything, I realized they were not actually of my house. I have been calling since September, leaving multiple messages. NO ONE ever returns my calls. I have contacted my insurance company. I know several other people in the same boat. I think a News Channel 8 report or a class action lawsuit would be appropriate.

Stay Away, they are awful! I rarely take time to write reviews, but I had to help the public avoid this tragic disorganization. I work in the real estate business and work with suppliers & installers every day. I am not a former disgruntled employee, I am end user that has experienced horrific service and wants to notify the public.I had Bahama shutters installed a few months. The entire process with their sales representative was unreliable and frustrating, I had to call several times and speak with the sons owner/co-owner about my order because the sales representative would not return calls. When the sales representative did return my call, he told me that my order was such a small about of their business, indirectly telling me that its not important.I called a few weeks ago because I wanted to add on to my order, unfortunately they gave me the same representative. I had the same experience with him, he never returned my email or calls and wasted my time. I called the office and notified the owner and apparently he does care either because no one returns calls. I guess my business is not important to them and if you are doing a job under $5000 I would recommend going to another vendor who will work for your business. I just wish they would have told me up front that it was too small of a job or they were disinterested in the work, they could have saved me weeks of calling and wasting my time as well as avoiding a bad review and bad word of mouth that I will spread to my company and clients. If they are this bad on servicing the sale of their products, how bad are they when there are problems!

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND....DO NOT USE UNLESS YOU have a year to wait ( we have waited 33 weeks to date and still do not have operating shutters) LACK OF COMMUNICATION FROM OWNER Travis and multiple employees still do not get answers. After talking to Travis last week - we finally have the shutters installed BUT NOT OPERATIONAL. Im told I MUST be here during the installations so they have access to the electricity BUT that does not mean they will be connected. I have to wait 12 more days for an electrician to come = then inspected / then the Jansen must come back to Finish, We have $OVER $7600 invested to date and they did not even have the correct Tulip crank to manually operate. The frustration level is off the charts.Ive emailed, left messages and YET NO CALL BACK!!!IF ONLY PROPER COMMUNICATION WAS GIVEN IN THE START OR THROUGH PROJECT- I WOULD NOT BE WRITING THISADVICE: DO YOUR HOMEWORK - LOOK AT OTHER COMPANIES - ASK YOUR FRIENDS - I AM SPREADING THE WORD

Im not sure where to start. I understand that they are busy taking care of customers during hurricane Irma, but for me buying a brand new house built from the ground up and having brackets that dont even line up with the holes or perhaps missing a whole panel. These panels have been locked away for 2 years but God forbid a hurricane comes and BAM, I cant even prepare because the company contracted to do the storm shutterd didnt provide the correct measurements for the rails. I mean seriously how do you mess that up. I can understand 1 out of four, actually I cant, because YOU should have ensured that it fit properly. But all 4 pieces line up with 2 out of 4 holes. But hey I could fabricate it and make it work, wait no I cant because Im missing a shutter for that window! AWESOME!!! Thanks for you quality work. With all that said it makes me upset that after being directed to call you in this time of crisis 4 days prior to the storm I get brushed off with well try and get to you when we can. Had Jansen Shutters quote the cost of replacing 3 of my metal shutter panels with lexan panels to allow light into the house. Delivered three steel panels to them to use as patterns to get the correct length and hole spacing. Couple days latter got a call that they were ready. When I picked the lexan panels up I asked where my steel ones were. They had my name on them and I was told they were scrapped out. Asked them to look again for them as I wanted them back. They could not find them. Very disappointed that they destroyed my property without asking.

Horrible customer service. This company installed shutters on my new home through a building contractor. I attempted to put the shutters up. I was missing shutters, some bolts did not go deep enough, others were missing in the concrete block, and some shutters did not fit. My neighbor had more problems than me. I called about getting a tech, they made an appointment and they never showed. I called back and then they said we are too busy to put you on the schedule now. Huh? it is not even hurricane season... They said they will call me when they have an opening. Wow! They cant even warranty their work, and blow me off because I am not a contractor. When a storm hits and I lose part of my home due to their failure to warranty their work, you know who i am pointing the finger at. I already told my insurance company of their failure to fix the problems. I have filed a complaint with the BBB of their failure to follow up. I am veteran and i am currently in law enforcement and I have never been treated this way from a local company. Find another company, one that really cares about their quality of work, and not the volume of work.

Repair - within a day of contacting Jansen of a warranty issue Amanda scheduled the repair. The crew, Andy and Rick, were very skilled professionals who diagnosed the problem and worked diligently to resolve the issue. Amanda followed up with a call to discuss our experience.

I have the feeling that the negative ratings were from either former employees who did a lousy job or people who did not pay their bills on time. Jansen is an awesome company with awesome workers, products and detail management. People who write reviews such as those posted here should be sued!!!!!

Dear Mr JansenDespite the fact that you were kind enough to visit during the installation of my windows recently and this gave me the opportunity to personally thank you, I thought I would take a moment to record this in writing.As Larry Hayden will have told you, the process from start to finish has taken some time since there was some early work to be done in convincing my HOA to rewrite the Hurricane Shutter Policy for our Condos. We received outstanding support from Larry in pursuit of this and eventually my HOA accepted that change was required.This allowed us to go ahead with your company as the chosen contractor for our condo and this was in no small way influenced by the professionalism and support shown by Larry Hayden.I know I told you during your visit, but the quality of work and professionalism shown by both Nathan Clark and Chris Drennan was outstanding and there are many skilled tradesmen who could learn a thing or two from them. I have been waiting since January for this job to be completed. A partial installation was done in July and then no response as to finishing the job. I am told they order these shutters from a vendor (even though I was led to believe when ordering that the product was produced in house). They say they have no information on delivery from their supplier. Emails and phone calls to get information are never answered. This job is costing in excess of $20K and the service is terrible.

The installation was finalized today and that deserves further comment.A.J. is a prize.I spent my entire career in the retail field covering merchandising, operations marketing and more at every position level and have not thrown around unearned compliments.I found A.J. competent, resourceful, and persistent in completing his job at the highest level and a complete anomaly among the craftsmen we have hired for the work we had done since we moved to this home 5 months ago. Jansen ShuttersI wish I could give negative stars to this company thus far. I’m placing a timeline for my review because so much time has passed and the work still isn’t done.2/6/18-Contract signed $4000.00 check written2/8/18-Check cashed by Jansen4/9/18-Called Jansen as no one had contacted us and the 10 week period to have the job completed was almost up. They asked if anyone had remeasured our home and we replied no4/18/18-Employee remeasured our job5/1-6/11/18-Multiple calls to company to find out what was going on. Company rarely called back with any information6/12/18-Told they would come out between 8 & 10am. No show. Called company again said they would be there at noon. No show. I called again at 4pm and they told us they were on another job that took longer. I left a lengthy message for the owner Phil Jansen6/13/18-Owner called back6/14 & 6/15/18-Partial installation of shutters7/13/18-Still waiting for the rest of the job to be completedThe company does not return calls or notify you regarding your job. They outsource the arched lexan panels and buckle and strap which Phil the sales rep neglected to tell us. I was told I couldn’t get my money back because the material was ordered however its still not in.When we were 9 weeks out 4/9/18, my husband phoned the company to see when the would be coming out. The scheduler Carrie asked if a second measurement was done which of course it wasn’t. Someone came out within a week and took measurements again. During the month of May we were promised over and over again they would be coming out but no one came. We were the ones that always had to call the company they never called you back and that was extremely frustrating.6/12/18 they were supposed to come out between 8-10. At 9;45 we called to see if they were coming and we were told they would be there after noon. At 4:00 we called back and told they got hung up with another job. I asked to speak to the owner Phil Jansen and I was transferred to a voice mail. I left a lengthy message and told them we wanted our money back. The owner did return my call the next day and said the installers would be out 6/14/18 to do part of the job. I was told I couldn’t get my money back because the material was ordered.The accordian shutters were placed 6/14 & 6/15 as was a lexan panel on our front door. The panels above our door, on our dining room window and our master bath window still have not been placed. We are still being told the material has not come in yet. The buckle and strap that we ordered to enclose our lanai has not come in yet either.My husband spoke with Travis Jansen 7/10 and he told him the material was being shipped from Miami and should be in at the end of this week. He said he will call back Friday 7/13/18 to let us know if the material did come in. It is 5:09 and we still haven’t received a call from Travis. We have been told numerous times that the buckle and strap is shipping from Miami yet it still has not been received.We have been ridiculously tolerant of this debacle. I urge you not to sign with this company. Perhaps we have been the only customers singled out but I don’t think so. According to the installers they are months behind, they don’t have enough people to install and it doesn’t appear that they care. We will file a complaint with the BBB however Jansen is not a member of the BBB. If possible, I would love to tell my story to the news media and we will be contacting them shortly. I will follow up with the end result.

We had Jansen install shutters on our house in 2005. I know you are saying why did it take you 7 years to write??? I dont know exactly why I guess it was searching for a shutter repair co when I came across the Jansen reviews. How was my experience? Absolutely horrible. They measured incorrectly. I wanted them horizontal they talked me into vertical. They ended up cracking every single precast sill on every window, they bent my soffit. We had the stucco damage repaired and had them redo all the shutters horizontal. None of the holes line up and I cuss them every time I put them up and take them down. Overall a very sloppy installation, reading the above reviews I now understand why. I asked travis at one point you guys have all of this aluminum why do you not make a template for the anchors?? Response I dunno thats a great idea. But he contimued away with the tape measure he cant read. After watching the first crew for 30 minutes I should have kicked them off the property and found someone else. I still cuss them every time I have to put up the shutters. Oh yeah now I know why Im writing this I was driving around and saw a Jansen truck so they are still out there. BE AWARE!!!!!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!If I could give 0 stars I would! Lets see, where do I begin... 1. they never left us ANY of the wingnuts we needed to install our shutters. 2. for some reason who ever installed our shutters decided to use tracks EVERYWHERE. Our neighbors with identical home and identical windows have normal shutters. (tracks are much more complicated to install and less secure) 3. When I called to discuss this, (on a Monday) they told me someone would call to schedule a time to come out to my house by the end of the week. 4. The following Wednesday, I had yet to receive a call. 5. I called them, the lady on the phone told me that they could not be held responsible for something built in 2013. (I never had to install the shutters until Irma threatened) She also accused me of lying that she did not remember doing an install at our home... when they have stickers all over our shutters. 6. I asked her to please have someone come out as they had previously promised, and the line mysteriously disconnected. 7. When I called back... they sent me to an answering machine!!!

“Incompetent” is the best word to describe Jansen Shutters.In October 2016, we hired Jansen to modify an existing accordion hurricane shutter to accommodate pavers we were getting installed surrounding our pool. Prior to the pavers being installed, the salesman (Kelly Gilkson) and the lead field technical guy (Nate) visited our home and recommended that we not raise the shutters but instead modify the shutters to allow them to open and close smoothly. Jansen then set a crew to remove the shutters and bring them back to their shop of modification. In early November, upon completion of the paver installation, I called Janson to reinstall the modified shutters. The installer attempted to install the shitters but after a few minutes he informed me that the shutters were not cut correctly and had to be taken back to the shop and modified again. He returned a few hours later, installed them again. During the installation I could hear him tugging on the shutters trying to force them to close as they scrapped our new pavers. When I questioned him, he said that the shutters were still not cut correctly and he would have to get Nate involved and again took the shutters back to the shop. Two weeks went by with no update so I called the salesman (Kelly Gilkson) three times, left voicemails and no reply. I then called the office and the receptionist said “oh, this is about the “defective” shutters?” I let her know that the shutters were not “defective” but were damaged during the reinstallation and I asked to talk to the owner. I was assured “Mr. Jansen would call me by the end of the day”. I did not receive a call back so I called again. Again, I was assured that Mr. Jansen would return my call. Again, I did not receive a return call. On my third call, I informed them that the next call would be from an attorney. Mr. Jansen then immediately got on the phone. I retold the story. He came out the next day and took measurements and comm9tted to resolve the situation. Again several weeks went by with no updates. I called and they said the replacements shutters were ready for installation. The install crew arrived, started the installation and within I a few minutes informed me that the new shutters was cut about an inch too short. Again, there has been no update from Jansen. It is now late January; there have been three attempts to install modified shutters on what was described as “an easy job”. Based on this experience, again, the best word to describe Jansen Shutters is “incompetent”. – Joe Hall, Venice FL.
