Very positive experience! I am brand new to fly fishing and went in to buy waders. Jordan assisted me to find a pair and was very helpful and inviting. I took the waders home and did a second fitting with all my gear but they felt a bit too big. I called Jordan and we discussed options and said they didnt have the size I might need and passed on to check out another shop they have a good connection with and they might have the size I need and I am welcome to return the first pair. I found what i was looking for at the other shop, returned waders to Pacific Angler with no hassle. I will definatly be making the effort to stop in as I get more and more into this! Thanks for the assistance!

Not the place to go to get advice about buying freshwater tackle. The salesperson really didnt know what he was talking about - I fished when I was young and what he said made little sense. I would have been willing to pay a little extra than some bigger retailers charge if I was able to get some decent info. on returning home I did a bit of research and found that he was confusing a lot of saltwater tackle setups with freshwater.

An all around fantastic fishing store! This is a great place for one simple reason... the amazing team, who are all passionate and highly knowledgeable about fishing. I’ve been frequenting this store for what feels like 20 years and I can always count on them for advice and assistance. The team has expertise on every type of fishing from lake fishing to river fishing to ocean fishing (or even for destination fishing). You’ll be well taken care of at Pacific Angler!

The staff here are passionate about everything fishing and seem more than happy to help with any questions I have had. I ask a lot of questions and have never felt I was being a bother to them. I had an issue with one of the rods I bought but brought it back and they helped me file a warranty directly with the company. I received a credit for my rod and was able to grab another. Wonderful experience 🎣! 4 of us joined Captain Eddie on an 8 hour trip. Time flew by & being a tourist in our own back yard was amazing. Captain Eddie was fantastic. He’s been with Pacific Anglers for 12 years and his genuine enthusiasm and love of fishing made our experience the best is could have been. Captain Eddie was knowledgeable, conscientious, patient & engaging. Captain Eddie cleaned our fish & then we took them to The Daily Catch on Commercial Drive to be filleted, deboned & vacuum packed. We are looking forward to our next trip already. THANK YOU Pacific Anglers & to our Captain Eddie!

Ve green shopping for fear at pacific forx a wile and really liked them till today .The person I talked told me that pacific angler said that you can no longer buy fishing licences in any store you can only buy them on line, those are the new regulations due to covid but I called 3 other shops and 2 if them still carry fishing licences .so it appears that due yo covid is a new catch phrase for naw i dont feel like it,so it apears pacific angler DECIDED to stop selling licences, if the cashier had said only that i would have no problem because that would be HONEST,but telling me that no stores sell licences is dishonest .and terrible buisness oracticeso I went to Barrys bait and tackle and was treated great. I dont know if this us pacific anglers policy or the personal decision made by ..I should have asked his name.I will deinetiy never shopping there again

We have used Pacific Anglers services off and on for a number of years, starting with taking fly fishing lessons, and subsequently booking several different fishing charters. In August 2020, it was time to go again so we (my son, son-in-law, and myself) booked a 10 hour salmon fishing charter. Kathryn S handled the booking expertly, making the arrangement very easy to finalize. Eddie Matthie was our guide for the day. We spent most of the day near Nanaimo fishing for chinook. We boated four keepers and two other salmon which we released as they exceeded the maximum size allowed. (We also lost another that appeared to be a big one as well.) Eddie was a great guide: friendly; knowledgeable and entertaining. Based on our experience on multiple occasions, I wouldnt hesitate recommending Pacific Angler for lessons, charter, equipment or just plain tips.

I did the local waters course and due to my own circumstances was only able to do the classroom work and not go out on the boat. Shortly after getting my own boat I took the saltwater fishing course. By far this is the best money I have ever spent in order to catch salmon. Successful fishing includes three things - where, how and when. Get one of them wrong and your chances of catching anything go down dramatically. And locally the where, how, and when changes often throughout the year. The wealth of knowledge that was shared during this course was simply phenomenal. The information in the evening course alone is worth the cost of the course - the day on the water is a nice bonus and time to ask more questions, watch and learn. Before I would go fishing and be very happy if I came home with something. Now I head out fairly confident that Ill be cleaning fish at the end of the day. Ive spent a lot of time on the water this summer and have seen lots of boats fishing without much success while I was getting more than my share. The knowledge gained from this course was the difference maker. On top of that whenever Im in the store to pick up the odd thing the service is impeccable.

Best customer service! We went into Pacific Angler over the weekend, during a busy sale looking to get into fishing. Jordan really took the time to walk through all of our options, was honest, not pushy, and answered all of our questions. He helped us pick a good beginner pole and helped us pick out a fishing kit. Jordan even set up our pole for us with our chosen rig setup. I cant recommend Pacific Angler enough. As a complete newbie to fishing Jordan really made us feel comfortable and ready to try out fishing.

Our salmon charter with Pacific Angler was extremely disappointing and the staff handled the customer service poorly. We booked the trip for our anniversary and made the trip to Vancouver just to fish with them and did not catch any salmon. To add insult to injury our guide blamed us for booking the 5 hour trip instead of a full day and “not planning our trip around the tides”. It would have been helpful to have been informed about the length of trip and local tides when we booked so we could have done a longer trip. It was a very expensive boat ride we could have done on our own boat.

“Salt Water Fishing Course” Fantastic! One day of classroom and one day on the water. I wish I had done this ten years ago (but they didn’t have it then). So much local knowledge of the difference fishing spots, species of salmon, seasons, weather, gear. Enough to make your head explode (except it comes with an excellent course booklet). Its been a year since I took up fly fishing, and have found myself addicted. This addiction and - more importantly - my overall enjoyment when Im on the water is largely tied to the support Ive received from the folks at Pacific Angler. Some key reasons why this is the case:Education: Pacific Angler offers a number of courses, helping you to learn skills ranging from learning to fly fish to tying your own flies. In the absence of these courses, I wouldnt have gained the knowledge I now possess as quickly or at all. Equally importantly - the team in the store is always ready and willing to help answers to questions you may have; Ive probably gained a third of my knowledge by just talking to the team while in the shop. Their courses and customer service provide you with a learning experience that is key to success on the water and enjoyment of the sport.Products and Sales: Pacific Angler is stocked with all of the gear youll need, and if theres something youre looking for thats not in stock, theyll order it in for you. Thats largely standard/what I would expect, but whats more important is their desire to make sure you get the equipment that meets your needs. On several occasions, Ive gone in and spoken to their team about an item Im considering purchasing. Often, their recommendations focus on whats best for me - even if its a lower cost item. I always feel as though my interests are front and centre, and not is if Im trying to be sold the most expensive gear there. The People: Walking into Pacific Angler is as comfortable as going to a friends place. All of the folks that work there are kind and genuine and work hard to remember your name and what your interests are. As a beginner to the sport, it is often intimidating to ask questions. While Im still intimidated by the wealth of knowledge they possess - once you crack the ice or flag to them that youre a newb, theyre incredibly supportive and happy to answer any questions you have.Simply put - this is the type of business I like to support through my purchases because it is the type of business that I believe adds value to our communities.

When I had arrived on Tuesday to pick it up the guys (Max and Matt) told me because of some issues the shipment wasnt able to be picked up. I am writing this feedback to share our disappointment for the salmon fishing trip we had last week with Pacific Anglers. I usually never write a feedback but because this trip was so promising and so expensive - I really want to warn others, so they avoid making the same mistake. The disappointment wasnt so much about the promised fish (which we didnt catch), but about the service weve received for the money we paid (over 600$ for the 5 hour trip including long trip to the actual fishing place and back)It all started with the driving directions that were sent to us a day before the trip. To say they were extremely confusing is to say nothing. We ended up driving back and forth to get to that same location mentioned in the email because the road is just one way, and finally, when we got there, the guide said we can just park anywhere meaning all these efforts and time were simply wasted. Now about the trip itself. During the whole trip our guide almost didnt say a word, we had to ask him every single thing about the fishing, and his answers were very lazy, not detailed, more a yes or no answers. When we got to the place, he didnt explain the set up, he was just doing his own thing silently, we had to pull the words out of him which was really awkward. When he finished the setup, he just sat down and started texting on his phone. It really looked unprofessional and we had an impression he is not really enjoying his job. We waited for some explanations of what he is doing, something that should make this trip an adventure as was promised on their website, and not just sit and wait game. Also, I really didnt like how he treated my husband when the fish hooked for the first time as he didnt know how to pull it to the board and our guide didnt explain thoroughly what to do, just summarized quickly expecting us to do it on the fly, not even showing once, and then getting mad at my husband for not being able to keep the fish on the hook. He basically blamed him for loosing the catch.. He actually said I dont like when people do this, I really get mad when people do this... This was not very nice ..Ive read reviews about this tour before purchasing it and I didnt find a single bad review, only 5 star reviews, the experience we had was quite the opposite. The only thing that was nice at the end - were the crab traps. At least we had a few crabs to bring home.I really like fishing, we often go on our own, but this experience was first and last, such a disappointment, the money and time wasted. Maybe this company has a good reputation in selling equipment for fishing, but they obviously dont train their guides customer service skills (at least the one we had) and how to coach others.

Booked a charter with Pacific angler, only to have it cancled 2 hours before our afternoon trip. This was for my brother, my self and uncle whom was visiting from out of country for a short trip. He had been wanting to fish with us and had been wanting to do this for years, he has liver cancer and has returned home. He will probably never have a chance to fish again... at least cancel first thing in morning so we could find other options, never followed up for a reschedule either. Extremely disapointed. I am a avid fly fisherman, and will NEVER purchase or recommend Pacific angler charters after this experience.
