I really love this consignment store! The people who work here are kind and helpful. The store has really great clothes, in excellent condition, for reasonable prices. I am a SAHM and so being on one income, I like to save where I can, and Closet Exchange lets me save, but slso keeps my wardrobe fresh!

I love The Closet Exchange. Its a great place to take clothes, shoes, purses, and even jewelry that you no longer wear and you never know what you might find to brighten up your wardrobe. Whenever I m in Valpo, I have to stop in because theyre always getting new things in and I dont want to miss out on finding something that I just have to have. You should stop in and see for yourself. I think itll be a favorite place for you, like it is for me.

If you are consigning things here, be wary. They will only return unsold items priced over $35 and you must search for your own unsold items. If they cant be found too bad for you. I lost 6 items last month, lesson learned for me .

I am in my mid-twenties, and I have written two store reviews in my life-time. As I have obviously been to many, many stores, I only write reviews if I find it absolutely necessary. That being said, this is the first negative review that I have ever written.I had no intention of writing this review, but as the days passed, I found myself becoming more and more astounded by my treatment as this specific store. As I entered the store, one of the two women working, an older blonde woman, made direct eye contact with me, however, I recieved no greeting of any kind, not even a simple smile, which would have more than sufficed in my opinion. This specific occurrence would have bothered me considerably less, however, EVERY other costumer, which I might add, who were obviously older than me, WERE greeted with, not only a smile, but a formal or friendly greeting, such as Hello Welcome and etc.As I had never been in this store before, I generally looked around. I overheard this same blonde woman informing other customers of sale racks located within the store. Although I was never informed myself, I decided to browse there, as well.Although rather pricey for retail pricing in my opinion, I found a few items throughout the store that I was interested in, and I decided that I would like to try them on. Again, I had never been there, but for those of you that have, the fitting rooms are not too hard to find, as it is a relatively small store. I approached this same blonde lady with my items, and asked if I could use a fitting room. I always do this at any store, out of courtesy, as more than half of retail stores keep their fitting rooms locked and/or count your items upon entering/leaving the fitting rooms as a theft precaution. I work retail myself, and we undergo these measures. The lady responded, What? Theyre not open? in a rather rude tone. I had no idea if there was an item limit or where to put items that didnt work out, but I had absolutely no interest in having any further discussion with this particular worker.I tried on my items, and once I left the fitting rooms, I discovered a little rack where you put the items that didnt work out for you. I put my items there, and took the items I wished to purchase to the register. There was nobody at the register, however, I understand (more than most, as again, I work retail), that employees get busy with various things and arent always at your constant disposal, not to mention that Im a very patient person regardless. However, I saw both the blonde employee and a darker hair employee in the back talking. Both had made direct eye contact with me, and yet, neither came directly to the register. I waited while they finished their conversation. No words were spoken to me at the register. Not the typically Hello Did you find everything alright? Have a nice day absolutely nothing. That being said, I have absolutely no idea what their return policy is, which is ironic, because as soon as I got home, I noticed there was a large hole in the back of a black blouse that I had purchased. I threw the shirt right in the garbage rather than going back there and dealing with those employees again.Another ironic thing, as I had never been there, I had planned to ask about how their consignment worked, because I had only heard briefly about it from a friend who had dealt with this store before. I have just tons of clothing very similar to what they sell in the store, and I had planned on asking an employee how this works, but I would much rather donate my clothes than walk into that store again. I relayed my experience to my friend who reccomended this store, and she, as well, will never be returning. To conclude, I dont recommend stepping foot into this store if youre in your late twenties or younger, dont appear too wealthy, want common courtesy from employees, or want to buy quality clothing at a decent price without damage.
