I trust this man with my guitars. A gem in this town.
Mike is a very, talented, knowledgeable, and phenomenal guitar builder and guitar player. Thanks again for your hospitality and taking the time out to play a little something, it was amazing!
We are fortunate to have a true craftsman in town. Mike can set-up, build or repair most any guitar or stringed instrument. Hell honestly tell you if its worth the expense to fix and is very fair and reasonable in what he charges. Saved me several times and turns stuff around really quickly. Excellent musician. Good guy.
Mike is very knowledgeable and accommodating. He helped my daughter string and tune her guitar. What a great place!!!
I brought in a pawn shop bass guitar to have Mike set up for me . Never having played before, I wanted to try something cheap to start. It was a pleasure to see him bring life back to it. I will be back.
I had a great experience dealing with Mike, the owner. He was friendly, very knowledgeable, and managed to repair my guitar while I waited. Not pushy at all, in my opinion; just willing to share his expertise on a subject in which he happens to be a professional; stringed instruments. I recommend giving Hobo Guitars a try!
Hobo guitars is a great shop. Always an appealing selection of guitars. Mikes vast knowledge of all things regarding gear and music have been of invaluable benefit to me. He is a very patient and versatile guitar teacher whose lessons have yielded an amazing amount of progress within a short span of time. I have also brought in many different instruments for repair/modification and his work has always been of an exceptional quality that I have found to be unparalleled in the Mendocino County area.Honest prices, expert work!Keep the money in the community support local businesses...
The owner is rude, and the merchandise is overpriced. $70 for a set of bass strings, got the exact same set for half that online. I wouldnt recommend visiting, youre better off finding a different store
Chill local guitar shop. Helpful and knowledgeable, I’ll be back.
I read the reviews before I moved to Ukiah, weighing whether to take a new guitar back to Guitar Center in Vegas for a half-assed setup or wait for a small town shop in my new location. Im glad I waited. Mike was exceptional. He did top notch service on my new Ibanez Premium. It seriously plays effortlessly. He dressed the fret ends, made truss rod adjustments, and fully intonated this beast and it surpassed every expectation. Not only that, he resolved factory QC issues that should have been done before it shipped involving the string locks. If youre expecting a smiley sales guy who will blow smoke up your rear to sell you a junk guitar, Mikes probably not going to be your cup of tea. However, hes a legitimate guitar player and luthier that knows his trade and does the work quickly and efficiently for a superb price.Ive heard through ibanez fan sites I should have expected up to $200 for the services performed. He did it for $100, with new strings, in an afternoon and gave me same day pickup. The man will have all of my business from here out.
The clerk/owner is very pushy. Dont end up buying what you want when it comes to strings and picks. Wouldnt recommend and makes the small town look poor.
