This place has become a dump. The checkout system is ridiculous. I always have to wait 10 minutes not matter what time I am in there. I stopped by yesterday on a Monday afternoon, and the store looked like a tornado went through it: trash all over the floor, clothes all over the floor, clothes in piles everywhere. They were not even busy. It was obvious that the store had not been cleaned in days. Employees were standing around everywhere. I cant justify shopping here anymore--too gross.

Went to purchase an exchange propane tank. Best price in Tyler. Plenty of personnel at the registers keeping the line moving. The lady that helped me was friendly and helpful.

I never go wrong at Academy Sports&Outdoors! Always have good prices and I can find almost everything I need!! I dont know why Ive been sleep on Academy Sports in the past but Im hooked now.

Would have given 5 stars, but the cashier was not very friendly. Didnt give me change back and when I asked about it she got an attitude with me like it was my fault or something. Dont get an attitude with customers especially when it is your mistake!!

Well run location as are most all of Academy locations. Prices are pretty good, not like the local BIG sporting goods stores here in So Cal

The store was great, everything was in stock… There was this very helpful lady named Suzanne and assisted us on whatever we needed, and even gave us some Chinese food/restaurant advice. This girl deserves a promotion if anything. anyways, great clothes and great experience I would write us a 10 out of 10.

Awesome place for just about everything you can think of but I like it especially for the fishing equipment it has great prices great low prices everything I want Ill go there from here till Im gone

Big store, seemed to have most items needed. on our shopping trip, they did not have the weight bars we were looking for. check out was good and the cashier, Scott was very helpful with an excellent attitude.

Been looking for a pellet grill and found one on website. Said Tyler store had some. I saw everything but the one I wanted. Went to cashier and showed her my phone with the grill I wanted. Found out they had one, that was being put together. I had to buy it online, so Im standing at front of store ordering online so they would hold it for me.Ill pick it up Monday. Oh yeah, cover for grill 50% off with grill.Looking forward to cranking it up! Guy named Christian was very helpful and walked me through my purchase.

The only thing that doesnt seem right to me is. I did a curbside order in which it was a griddle that was on sale for $199. I wasnt there so I had my wife pick the order up for me. We followed the instructions on how to get the order out to her vehicle. The guy didnt ask for any ID or anything to verify who she was. I did another curbside which was 2 tents on sale, under $100 purchase. This time I pick picked it up. I was forced to show ID and had to take it completely out of my wallet to verify who I was before he placed the items in the truck. What was the big difference. Possibly im going to say someone dropped the ball and youre suppose to ask for an ID every time.

I would give three stars for this visit. Im assuming it was extremely busy at 8:00 pm Wednesday and some selections were unavailable because people have started to get their stimulus checks. I wanted to buy another pair of the shoes I previously purchased for work but they only had two sizes in that style. I had to get another one. I also wanted to buy a couple of workout pants that I bought before but they only had two pair in my size in colors I didnt like. Not enough sports bras in my size.I work in retail and we prepare for these types of situations (storm hoarding, holidays, pandemic - except toilet paper) beforehand. Running out of some items is going to happen but not like this. Ive also had the issue with finding my size nearly everywhere I shop and Im average. I dont know why retailers will not order more for average sizes especially when they nearly always end up putting the other sizes on clearance because they dont sell.My previous visit was great though(!) so Ill give them four stars. Friendly people too!

My husband and I went to academy to buy a crossbow.. we found one we wanted to look at but all three of the guys behind the counter paid us no mind. and they all looked directly at us we stood there for about 25 min then decided to we will just drive to bass pro in Louisiana tomorrow... they need to train their employees on customer service...

Ugh, I want there for some trail shoes, and they didnt have any of the ones I liked. They need to keep better stock on the shoes. But only lost one star because still a great store!!

I went there to buy fishing tackle, they have a big selection but right now they like alot of places cant get product in, unfortunately, but not their fault.

Unfortunately this store never answers their phone and their customer service has a lot to be desired!

The checkout line was all the way to the back of the store but as usual, the staff and management did a wonderful job of getting people checked out quickly. I was in line less than 20 minutes! They had all registers open and a staff who worked fast and still maintained excellent customer service. Other stores could take a few lessons from them.

I was accused of stealing a jacket from their store, which I bought from Bryan/college station Academy location. I felt so depressed after the confrontation. What upsets me the most is that the employee who accused me Never apologized! He said you better not be lying or you will be in big trouble. Then he left. I dont understand, I am a customer and he treated me guilty before reviewing the evidence from the cameras! I did nothing wrong! I just wanted to shop peaceful. I am and have been a customer of Academy, he treated me as if I was nothing!

Shopping the last weekend before Christmas is not for the faint of heart BUT Academy did a GREAT job making it as smooth as possible even with the COVID-19 protocols in place! When I joined the EXTREMELY long line for check out I prepared myself for the wait but to my surprise and delight it took less than 10 minutes! Way to go, Academy! 👍

Lots of customers, but almost everyone was masked. Lots of employees who were quick to help. Ridiculously long line at checkout, but still just 15 min from the back of the line to the registers. Overall good experience.

Wish they have an actual waiting line in the mornings for ammo but I’m very grateful for how they’re doing the ammo distribution to the customers. Also big thank you to their leadership willing to come out and show what they have in stock!

Gun selection was low but the prices were good. I get Jack Daniels wood pellets here for pretty cheap but they dont always have them when I come up here. Staff is always very friendly and willing to help. Only reason I gave it 3 stars is for the lack of inventory in things EVERY time I go up there.

Customer greeter at the front door helped me find exactly what I needed, I was in and out in no time. Even found Nike shirts marked down, while I was waiting to check out.

Not too long ago their prices were competitive. Not anymore. I sometimes wonder if they are planning on getting rid of the fishing department all together due to lack of inventory.

Customer service is excellent and friendly. I took off one star because I am tired of coming in here and there is no ammunition which I realize its not inherently their fault but the fault of all God hating Democrats. Let Freedom ring!

I asked my wife to grab a can of Corosion X from academy today. She proceeded to call the store and ask if it was in stock, after being transferred to 3 different departments and each one explaining that they don’t have it in stock we went online and checked the stock ourselves. We placed an online order to be picked up in store and the website said it was available. My wifey arrived and they said it would be 40minutes because the order is processing... she looked around the store for 10 minutes until finding it herself, brought it to the counter and purchased it. Then went online and cancelled the online order, the cancel confirmation came back due to “no stock available”... it’s as if they tried with all their might to not sell us a product.. very disappointing.

No carts for the disabled to shop. I couldve spent my money to. This is something that needs to be addressed. This is every academy because I went to the Academy in Tyler Texas also.

Was shopping for a skateboard and pleased with the options we had. Found clearance skateboard for $7.
