The Commissary Officer here is awesome!!! She is tentative to customer concerns and request. She is helpful and really care about the military families. She is leading this commissary into a positive direction. I have seen a lot of changes for the better as how the store was in the past

Decent Commissary selection for the middle of the desert. Generally good fresh fruit and veggies and even meat, and always find some treats when it comes to their special sections like Japanese curry and rice and even German foods. I don’t usually find the place too busy, except maybe later evenings on the weekends, or lunch hour during the week there’s usually a wait at the fresh deli and sandwich counter. And fresh sushi is fantastic! Thanks to Covid-19, sometimes shelves are empty and delayed being refilled, especially when it comes to eggs, cheese, and water (but we’ve always managed to find TP at least). The next closest grocery would be Starter Bros and a DG Market. A huge Walmart with groceries and a Vons can be found down the way about 20-30min from base, in Yucca Valley.I also wanted to add that they now offer curbside pickup which started Sept 2021. Real convenient! The only struggle I’ve faced is when they do a substitute and it’s not something I would have chosen, you’ll have to go in the physically return items at the customer service window, and most of the time you won’t catch it until you’re already home and putting everything away. I hope they’ll update the system to one day be close to something like WalMart has where you can choose to decline a substitute chosen ahead of time.

Great military commissary, friendly staff, and a layout that just makes sense!

The deli/bakery have the nicest people! The sandwiches are the best and freshly made to order with better pricing than other places on base. Plus they have a Sushi bar and will take custom orders. Hot rotisserie chickens! Party Trays cheaper then downtown!

They have a very small meat selection, but other than that its great.

The commissary has many options that the MCX does not, such as produce, fresh meat, a much wider variety of snacks, foods and drinks. There is also a much wider variety of cleaning supplies and such. Easy in, easy out. Great prices, and a very friendly staff!

Fast, clean, friendly. Super good prices on majority of items.The clerks will actually speak to you and look you in the eye.

Store stays organized! Prices are competitive with the local grocers. They got a sandwich and sushi shop unlike the other stores. Plenty to browse and see. Ample amount of parking and free bags at check out doesnt mean you cant bring your own and help the environment though.

Deals are okay. Meat selection is pretty dismal and the produce goes bad within a couple days. In the summer they need more AC because its really hot. Baggers only work for tips which is so terrible. Generally clean and the associates are very friendly.

Ah, the grocery store for the Marine Corps. Food available with valid ID. If no ID, you starve!

Way over priced, especially around pay day, 1st and 15th of the month. Prices increase with anticipation of pay day. Produce is good quality, slim choices.Example of price increases:Facial masks in beginning of COVID were about $6-8 per packNow, same pack, $16...If it wasnt so convenient I would take my business elsewhere.

5 days a week for the last year, if I could be a grocery store regular, this would be the place. Great cashiers who treat you like family. Almost everything is always in stock and rarely is it hard to find someone when you need help locating something. Great selection too! Big fan!

The deli department is great but the fresh produce section needs some work with keeping their products fresh. And it also needs a better selection for the meat section which is usually out of everything. It use to be great when i was here 3 years ago but i dont know what changed but now it seems below standard.

Small but nice staff and product selection. Found some of the cashiers not wearing commissary uniform shirts or aprons strange. Thats the only commissary Ive seen that happen. Also, be prepared to hear the cashiers talk about very personal subjects

This places grocery is not taxed so come here for food stuff if you are current or ex military. Better and fresher than walmart or the supercenter and cheaper.

Never shop for groceries at the PX, always come here. Prices are good, tax free. Everyone here is extremely helpful. Never overcrowded, I have always been able to find what I need.

Love the convenience and the process. However there is always a chance that some of the more common items will be out of stock. The staff is friendly and the prepared foods are great but they need to fix their stocking issue.

Every employee I have met has been extremely nice, and the prices are good. The deli and the sushi are wonderful. However, the produce is not always the freshest.

Convenient and tax free. If you can shop there you probably already know the general perks. Pro tip. Dont go late on Sundays or at all on Tuesdays. Its closed on Mondays.

I do like the commissary but this time I noticed there were quite a few things without prices and some of the things with prices ring up at a different price (more than tagged), and be careful - some of the coupons they have out are expired so if you are buying items with coupons make sure you check the dates because they wont honor them.

Small but well stocked. The self checkout machines dont work properly so it requires someone to assist.

There’s one lady that works at the deli. I don’t know her name, but she’s a white female with reddish tinted hair. She’s on the big side, height 5’5 in her mid 40’s. She was really rude, nasty, and obnoxious yet condescending. It’s a long story to tell, but you get the picture. The manager wasn’t there to be found.Also, there’s the blond hair dude that doesn’t give you what requested and he’s super lazy. On numerous occasions he’s been like that. He doesn’t give you any eye contact, no smile, thank you, or, “Hi, how may I help”, or bye. It seems he doesn’t like working there at all in my opinion.Rest of the staff are super sweet.It was a bad day for me being there and hate being treated that way and I wish no one goes through this experience. Managers need to step up their game.

Good prices. Much cheaper than MCX. Stock up junior Marines! If youre going to buy that kinda stuff, be smart about it.

There are marines who literally spend their days off walking around the store policing people. You dont actually get any of the food cheaper than stater bros or walmart. It also has a very limited selection

Twentynine Palms Commissary is the military grocery store in the area, on base. Full grocery, deli (made to order sandwichs) bakery and fresh sushi daily. Well stocked clean and bright. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Full and self checkout available. Baggers work for tips only.

Wonderful experience today the people are also friendly there and especially the beggar today Peggy was so awesome she helped unload our basket we always enjoyed our visit to 29 Palms the commissary is clean organized and like I say the people that work there are just beyond awesome also the young man in uniform the manners saying hello to me and calling me maam it was awesome today

Meat and seafood selection leave much to be desired. Would be real nice if there was a real butcher here.

It was nice. They had what I needed. I dont know why it has such a bad rep among military families.

Like any other military commissary, the bakery makes some pretty good sweets and the deli(right next to the bakery) makes some pretty good sandwiches, and for $7.99 for a footlong you cant really beat the value. Only reason they arent 5 stars is because they run out of things sometimes fairly quickly.

Inconsistent items, and insufficient quantities are stocked. You never know if you will have to make a trip into town to find what you need. Otherwise, a rather decent Marine Corps Commissary. Love the sandwiches from the deli!

Cheaper than Staters for most things, with good selections. Look for the manager specials on bulk meat. Definitely the best bang for your buck.

The employees here are without equal. Every single one, from the baggers to the checkout clerks, the stockers, the deli workers, have always gone out of their way to make every shopping trip here a wonderful experience. They arent just helpful; theyre indispensable. The best commissary - or grocery store - ever.

Wish wall mart was closer. Staterbros is nicer out in town. Only place on base where they hound you for your Id card.

I never thought there could be a bottom feeder when it comes to commissary. Unfortunately, it is my only option for the next few years.....

Love the staff, theyre always very friendly and they never give me a hard time when I use coupons (which is rare at most stores). My only complaint is that the produce and meat selections are usually really poor quality. Ive purchased meats and fruits from there on a few occasions, only to get home and find out theyre spoiled. I also agree that stocking seems to be an issue, the last two times Ive gone shopping there was almost no milk left and most of it was fat free.
