It was my first time going to the bookstore, and I was really excited to find some cool books. Unfortunately, while I was there my experience wasnt as I imagined. I was with my younger sibling and they had purchased books before I had, when they returned to me after, they showed me the great amount of pennies they had since I guess the bookstore had no other change. Once I went with my books the cashier gave us attitude for the cents we were paying with, saying I gave you all that change dont you want to give some back since we had gave her a dime instead of the pennies for cents... All Ive got to say is that, it is not the costumers fault that the bookstore didnt have no silver change. Also, to mention her costumer service skills are not it, how do you look irritated and try to say something when the customer takes a bag for theyre own books when you didnt even try to give us one once the purchase was already over??? Literally went in there for a cool time and felt offended after, I guess she isnt used to the bookstore having costumers.

The absolute best service and atmosphere. I wasnt expecting anything, just went in and wanted to look around and Jennifer the owner) was fun and genuine. I was just very impressed with my entire visit, I felt she deserved a standing ovation for customer service and atmosphere .

The worker was hella rude and had a attitude all because she gave me 70 cents of change in pennies. She acted like it was my fault they had no silver change. Also rudely asked for it back when I payed again. I’ve read many reviews about this particular employee and still nothing had been done which is disappointing and unprofessional. Not to mention every other time I’ve shopped here I also felt uncomfortable with her. She’s a white in her late teens to early twenties.

Lightly Used Books is a lovely treasure for anyone who loves books and visits Turlock. The smell, the collection, the winding paths through bookshelves is a delightful experience only topped by the likelihood that you will find a book that is rare and you enjoy.

Terrible . I went to buy a few books and the attitude of the worker was horrible not helpful and unwelcoming and trying to correct whatever I asked for and I felt she did not want us there like we were bothering. So I just walked out to never go again. I went there because in the past I had bought great books but it was so uncomfortable to be there.

Looks small on the outside but you can get lost on the inside. Its a wonderful maze full of books

This place is awesome for any kind of reader! They are sure to have a book youll love and the prices are great. Looking for a signed first edition? They have those! The owners are super helpful and they dont mind if you spend an hour or two or three browsing. Go check out this bookstore! Before I forget, they have live music!

Lightly Used Books is simply put AMAZING. The new owners showed me to the exact spot of the author I was looking for (Patricia Cornwell) and they had such a variety!! Every genre you can think of from Sci-Fi to horror to childrens and even a Christian section. The shelves are tall maze like and filled with hard backs, 1st Editions and paperback as well! Stop by check them oit you wont be disappointed!!

Wish there was more spots like these. Cool little bookstore. I was in looking for a book for a friend. And they had it. Had a great chat with the gentleman working the shop and appreciated me coming in and looking for the book instead of going straight to Amazon. Lol. Great customer service. Will be back when Im in search of a new book. Thanks.

Clean and well-organized dook shop, excellent selection on a wide variety of subjects and genres. Friendly, helpful staff. One of the few excellent used book stores left in the Central Valley and locally owned. What more do you need to know? Worthy of your support.

The new owners of the bookstore were nice; I loved the resident Great Dane, and was able to find a great books. One note, though: its a bit messy. They are still in a state of transition.

This place is amazing, I called looking for a specific book and although they didn’t have it when i called the woman working called me back and held the book when they got a copy. Not only would I shop there again, I am excited to shop there again.

The new owner is friendly and working hard to make it a viable business.It is really the only worthwhile bookstore of any kind in the area and a pleasure to walk through and peruse.Hoping they start a trade in program and more selection is added and rotated through as they did not carry any books I was looking for, although I left with several anyway ;) it reminds me a bit of my beloved Bookmans in AZ

Wish I had gone earlier in the day. Good variety of books and the staff were helpful and friendly. They observed the author I selected and brought out a huge selection by that author that was to be entered into inventory. If I had the expendable funds I would have bought the lot then! All the staff were pleasant to talk to and we left with a selection of books we were happy with.

Awesomeness! On a busy opening day, I wanted a copy of Frankenstein and the owner Jenni showed me where it would be. Upon finding it, she said she had a better looking copy and proceeded to have her entire staff search for it until it was found. I then asked for a book for my wife and she quickly made a recommendation and found it for me. The staff here are wonderful, knowledgeable, and very helpful!

This is a great store with a massive selection of books. The people working are always helpful with finding any book that they have in store.Unfortunately, the inconsistency of the stores hours is very confusing for the people who would like a book at those times.Today nothing was posted on the store front indicating of its closure. I went at around 10:30am, closed. Called around noon, nothing. Dropped by at 5:15, closed.

I am visiting from Portland, Oregon where we are known for great book stores (and the largest). This place reminds me of the ones at home. Reasonable prices and a decent selection. The service was great too, the man who was working was really friendly but not overbearing and I could tell that he had a genuine interest in books. I definitely recommend visiting this place whether you live in Turlock, are visiting like me, or are just passing through.

Amazing place. Perfectly quaint. Purchased two lightly used books in pristine condition. Both were roughly $4. Authors were Orson Scot Card and James Patterson. Definitely will be frequenting this place.

Originally my review of this place had one star because I went multiple times during hours of operation and the door was locked. I stopped having that problem for whatever reason and the store itself is pretty cool, so Im gonna change it.

Prices are fair usually, its hit and miss as far as selection and unless the new owners have invested major amounts of time theres little hope in asking if they have a certain book or not... No real inventory innq traditional case with numbers of items in stock out of stock on the way etc etc...Thats really the only thing that I had ever noticed about this place that was detrimental...I mean, a book store like this is really a gem in a place like Turlock, California. Its a rarity in the area and an oddity in this town. I think theyve gone through a handful of owners and considering the most recent owners tragedy its amazing this little place has survived, let alone doubled in size over the years. That speaks volumes if youll allow the intended pun to sir square a moment.There.Now, Im glad that this place is still living, breathing and growing. Turlock has always needed a book store that has a natural bookworms charm. A place that readers can browse through to their hearts content. This would be that place.While stopping to see if I could find a certain book (let down, temporarily by the hit and miss nature of the stock) I found books that I needed extra copies of as well as another few totally unrelated but absolutely geared toward my interests. That is the beauty of a used book store; the other stuff youll find outweighs the never being sure of finding the exact book youre after.Many subjects are condensed into small sections such as art, poetry comics, swords and sorcery pulps and even the science section... To be expected really, because naturally there just arent as many of those bad boys around (aint it a shame?) but what is there is usually stocked with goodies if you know what youre looking at.Theres a whole separate room devoted to fiction and novels and big names and on occasion youll find something worth while among the endless parade of number one bestsellers. So theres that... Each to their own eh?This place also informed me that Thursdays are their event nights. Poetry, bands and the like are seated to play. Its another reason to come by...Go there.Youre guaranteed to find something worth while. Its the only game in town.

My 1st stop shop for books. A localy owned shop ran by the owner; a young positive person with a deep love for books of all kinds. I recently learned this establishment is now starting small events like open mic night and is considering starting a small cafè.

Like new books every where ranging from any subject you can find for reasonable prices. Love the atmosphere here.

Its a horrible place.$3.95 for a comic from 2002?That could be sold for $1 at Red Sky Comics.5 comics for $16.00 is not a good price.Also, they sold a comic book compilation from the 1990s for $15.Not a good place.Just a Freaking ripoff.You can get better deals at Red Sky Comics,Amazon, heck,you can get better deals at Barnes And Noble.Lightly Used Books might not be the correct word for this store.It should be called Crappy Books Sold For A Ton Of Money.It is not a good place and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Awesome place to find treasures from days gone by.

This is a large used bookstore with a ton of books organized by genre and then alphabetically by authors last name on winding, labyrinthine shelves. Prices tend to be about half-off the MSRP on the cover.Its a good place to kill an hour. The owners are the only staff and absolutely no pressure.Whether or not you find what youre looking for depends on what you want. YA, childrens, and manga are a bit limited. General fiction, romance, nonfic, fantasy, science fiction are pretty well represented.Overall, it isnt quite the famous used bookstore on McHenry in Modesto, but it also isnt too far off, either. That having been said, I prefer browsing in Lightly Used Books to the other.

A genuine star in a dying industry. Places like this will keep it afloat. Kind of like underground music.

People are nice enough there but Ive gone in there a few times and asked for a book and they just point its over there instead of getting up and showing me where it is so its not real convenient for me to go there so I wont be going back there again

Went on two separate days when it was supposed to be open. Door was locked and the phone number went straight to a voicemail. Its either closed permanently or their hours arent correct.

I wasnt able to actually visit & purchase Christmas presents. The store has closed. New owners will reopen sometime in January.

Cost less has any things frish and low cast. I find any things that I need.

Clean place. Lots of books. Prices are too high for me. They also sell some nik-naks and book related accessories. They do not buy books, but will possibly take books and give you store credit.

Its like getting lost in a fantasy library. Theres ceiling high corridors of antique and newer books. Theres also a Spanish selection, comic books, and manga. You can trade in books old books for store credit.
