I bought a new Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass online from them for $908-full price. I contacted them about picking it up instead of shipping it and was told it was ready anytime. I go to get it and I wasnt in the system when the salesman checked and was basically getting dismissed when I asked him to do more checking like with the shipping department. It was there..so while waiting for it to be brought out I inquired about a possible discount on a case for it,was told he was a drum guy and he left. In comes salesman 2..so I ask what kind of discount he can offer me on a case and he said he couldnt offer me any. So fine I leave, get home and open up my new Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass and its just wrapped and stuffed in a generic shipping box, no paperwork or tools or factory box and its disgustingly dirty...its obviously the store demo model I was given, which that I dont mind really, its the fact they didnt even try to clean all the fingerprints off the shiny black surface. I expected a new, unopened or at least clean instrument for $900+ 😠. Very unhappy with my experience dealing with Guitar Center Tukwila/Southcenter and it only fortifies my reason I dont shop there unless absolutely necessary and this was my last purchase at that particular location.

Having a space to drum is amazing. In a few weeks, I think Ill buy an E-drum set from them (cant do acoustic because Im living in an apartment). But yeah, if you can keep a rhythm, this is an amazing place to let loose.Do treat their equipment with respect though. Ive seen people who wail on drums and its not good for the equipment. It takes very little Kinetic energy to make the sound you want.

Call ahead to make sure they have what youre looking for. Theyre great when an item is in stock, but with the exception of guitars and PA gear, shelves seem to be mostly empty most of the time. Went in for a popular Novation midi controller and there are almost no midi controllers, from any brand, whatsoever. I should have called ahead.

Kinda a ghost town, and the drum room suffered. I had stopped by to check out what they had up for youth electric drum kits. For the equipment set out 1 out of the 4 on display were complete. The two younger Hispanic guys were on that machine. So I looked at the 3 other that I guess were on display. The kick pedals they choose to set up with the kits against the wall. Apparently were in the middle of being serviced. But for the hr I kinda played on the kit after the two guys left. I never saw anyone, nor did my girl friend that was 5 from me. So I wrapped it up. And left the 2 pair of sticks on the unattended counter.

I get it…a lot of nationwide chains are doing most of their business on-line. It lulls you into a false sense of security, but you got to be careful especially when buying used gear. With Guitar Center you get real guarantees, even on used equipment. Order that used orange Music Man Bongo 5-string from Tulsa (yeah Tulsa, OK) and that used Orange Crush 100W Bass Combo Amplifier from Ocean City, MD. If the condition of the gear doesn’t match what’s advertised, you get your money back. Now you’re ready to start that fruity ska band you’ve always dreamed of…oh wait, that was me. Actually…I got the used β€œblack on black” Music Man Bongo 5-string and new Fender 100w Rumble. (The orange is my next purchase.) They also β€œprice matched” a new Shure BETA 58A which is still a damned fine stage mic by my account.Bottom line: if you’re a working musician, it’s hard to not love what Guitar Center is doing.

The single worst Guitar Center Ive ever been to, and thats saying something. Went to try some 5 string basses, they had literally only a single one that was a quality instrument. I asked a staff member if they had any basses elsewhere and was dismissed with a flat No without breaking stride, while he got back to his conversation with a different customer, whom he was waiting on hand and foot.Really weird, scummy vibe all around. Empty shelves, displays in disarray, just a sad sight really. The guy who rang me up was pretty nice I suppose, but thats literally the only positive about the whole experience. Went in ready to spend $1k+ and left with a $6 pack of acoustic strings and a new-found determination to never set foot inside a Guitar Center again in my life.

The people here are nice and consultative, prices for items are reasonable for retail. Online prices are obviously lower for certain items. We chose to purchase our amplifier and speakers here because they know what they doing. Their return policy is reasonable as well. Overall I would recommend for when you need answers to your questions. The used amplifier prices are competitive for the market compared to online used prices. The 45 day return privilege makes me much more comfortable with the purchase.

Ive always had great experiences buying from Guitar Center. I normally buy live sound equipment, and the staff are always helpful and friendly. Sometimes they can get busy and dont have enough floor staff but thats due to them really taking time to help out with each customer. Ive bought both new and used gear here and rarely had problems with the equipment and/or been able to fully test and understand what I am purchasing (when buying used) and the risk as well as their coverage plans which are always an option.

This all went down in the matter of less than a minute. Why even come over and try to help, if youre in a hurry to leave? Terrible customer service here. Came in today to trade some stuff in and was blown away with the experience I had. I brought a lot of different pieces of gear in to trade up for an amp and they handled it super painlessly. Even though I was putting them through all this work they were having fun and being very professional to me. You can tell its a very relaxed environment that they got going on, and I dont mean that in a bad way. Relaxed but can still get things done. I didnt get the guitar techs name, but Nick and him were awesome! Would definitely recommend stopping in if youre looking for new or used gear. They seem to have a decent used section, and seems like they get new stuff in pretty often. And of course if youre looking for new Fender or Gibson stuff they got a lot of that too.

They have all the guitars locked up and nobody to help. What’s the point. Just a bunch people standing around wonder what to do. Guitars locked up, give me a break. So I’m going to do an update..I got frustrated with not being able to find the guitar I want at a store so I went against my better judgment and ordered a guitar from the website.5 days later my guitar doesn’t even exist in their system and it’s going to be 3-5 days to get the $1800 back in my account.

Maybe its the Virus, maybe its the way consumers consume now - but this Guitar Center location is disappointing. Heres why - much of what they offer is not in stock. Many of the items you see are the floor model, and are Not owned by Guitar Center was what an employee told me. They then will tell you that they can place an order online for you. If that was what I wanted, I would have just stayed home and ordered online. Seems like a business that could be on its deathbed or is due for a complete reimagining.

Between knucklehead customers and employees who walk away from me in the middle of their own sentence, to go help another customer (while Im literally standing by the cash register with an $800 guitar in my hand), or leaving me on hold for 9 minutes before I hung up, I finally got the message that they couldnt care less whether I bought anything or not.
