Southwest Iron Works did an outstanding job manufacturing our fire pit. They were responsive and timely through the whole process-from design, to manufacturing, to delivery.Prices were well below those we priced ready made and we were able to design our fire pit - size, shape, dimension, and finish. They delivered on time and made sure it was set up and functioning correctly.Great service and beautiful work!

Abel and all at Southwest Iron Works were great to work with! We received several quotes and they delivered exactly what they said they would. From opening my door our first meeting, Abel was so efficient having already measuring everything after arriving. That way we could discuss the project right away. They were straight forward not wasting our time, trying to sell us something we did not need or want. From the get go they stated they were medium high in prices and explained about their product. They listened to our requests during the design phase, when we were trying to figure out exactly what we wanted and how it would look in the space. In addition we really liked the fact they were a family run business that had been around for 23 years. That really showed with how much they cared and worked with us to make sure the project turned out how we wanted. Do your self a favor and get a quote from Southwest Iron Works. We were sure glad we did!!! We get compliments on our gates and window inserts all the time!

This is my second door from Southwest Iron Works. I love my front door so much, and it still looks fabulous 9 years later. This time I needed something for a back door that is rarely used, but definitely a potential security breach,.I stuck with a fairly basic door because it is rather hidden, but it still looks great. Love this company and the clean look they are able to achieve with their doors. I understand they are making furniture now too!

Southwest made and installed three expensive gates for me. When I called Southwest later on to let the company know that one of the gates was pulling out of the stucco wall it had been anchored into, Abel (the person who sold me the gates) came out, looked at it, and said he would get me an estimate. I was surprised that Southwest would not fix its own installation for free, since Southwest had anchored the gate into only stucco rather than into a stud, but I waited for an estimate. Later I received a call from a rude woman at Southwest who said I would be charged $395 (normally $495 she said) to fix the gate. She also said I would have to pay the entire $395 (instead of 50% up front and the balance upon completion, as I had paid for the gates initially) before someone would come out to fix the installation. I asked to talk to Abel, and she said whether I spoke with him or not, I would need to pay the $395 before the installation would be fixed. I asked her to have him call me anyway. When he called, I asked him if he could charge me less than $395, but I stated that I would pay the $395 if he insisted. He then rudely told me he did not want my business and to find someone else to fix the gate. He said he did not know what would be required to fix the gate, that maybe the wall would need to be opened up to see what was behind the stucco, and that I would need to hire another contractor. I told him I would appreciate it if his company would do the work, that I would pay the $395, and that I was also going to need (and pay for) Southwest to powder coat the gates again because they were rusting. He rudely refused. However, it was a blessing in disguise, because I wound up getting the installation fixed by someone else for only $25 (though I insisted on paying more out of gratitude) with no need to open up the wall. I regret using Southwest, and regardless of what Southwest may say in response, the foregoing is what happened, and I will reply to any response by Southwest. If anything, I am understating Southwest’s rudeness.

Our experience with Southwest Ironworks went beyond expectations. They worked with some of their prior designs and some ideas we provided and designed the most beautiful door that we could not be happier with. It is high quality, beautiful, functional and a true showpiece for our house. The experience was far more pleasant than I expected, with no high pressure sales tactics and extremely professional staff who clearly care a great deal about performing high quality work. They take great care and pride in even the small details. Our thanks to Abel and the entire Southwest Ironworks team!

We have had multiple problems with doors and gate installed by this company. Had difficulty getting them to come out during their one year warranty. Called because of continued problems with products and gate coming apart, they scheduled an appointment to come out and check everything. The next day received a call and was told to get someone else to help us. They would not because I said their work was substandard.

We are truly pleased with the work & quality of our new wrought iron gate. The professional results of our small project have left us with a legacy wrought iron gate. This gate will be here long after we part from this Earth. In addition our other gate done by another company was repaired to our expectations! Thank you to the employees who worked on this project. We are one happy customer of Southwest Iron Works and will not hesitate to recommend you to our family & friends.

Wow is all we can say! From the very 1st day when we got our bid, to the day of install, everything from A to Z was top tier! Abel was delightful, helped us choose a door we will enjoy for many years to come. The quality is 5 stars but the service is what really blew us away. The installers Fernando and Colin were very professional and friendly. We had many questions and they took the time to answer all of them. Bravo Southwest Iron works! We would highly recommend them.

We are so happy with our security door from Southwest Iron Works. The door turned out beautiful and the install was fast and professional. I would highly recommend them over other companies in Tucson. I know several people who have gone with other companies and then were not happy with either the product or the installation. A security door is a big investment so dont take any chances and make sure you go with Southwest Iron Works.

Southwest Iron Works delivered a very high quality, custom-made security door and installed it. The professional installer was meticulous in his attention to detail and answered all of my questions as he performed the installations The color match was perfect to the door frame color, which was something I was worried about - but without reason, as it turned out. My wife loves our new door, as do I. I would recommend Southwest Iron Works to anyone seeking a high-quality, very securely constructed, perfectly-fitted security door. In addition, the artistic design we chose is very pleasing and makes the door look less like a barred-entrance than many other designs. Southwest Iron Works exceed my every expectation.

Soutwest Iron Works - The way business should be done!Southwest Iron Works did an amazing job for us! From our initial visit to their new location to the installation of our door, we were provided some of the best “no pressure” customer service we’ve ever experienced. There is no doubt that this company strives to exceed customer expectations. Throughout the entire ordering and manufacturing process, Deane and Abel were very patient and understanding of our questions and concerns. The installation team, Fernando and Collin, are two of the most capable and polite young men you’ll ever meet. Totally a First Class Operation and we are completely satisfied and appreciative of all their collaborative efforts!

The door they installed is good quality - it was pricey and took over the two months originally quoted even with a very early design change. However, I asked for a re-key before I signed the contract and paid half the amount, and they didnt include it in the price. Despite spending thousands on the door, they refused to honor a small re-key fee. Their lack of customer service on this issue and repeated comments on how they didnt care about any referrals I wouldve sent their way really shows the true character of this company. Watch out for bad customer service and refusal to acknowledge any issues on their end.

Never showed up to measure windows for security screens. Didnt even call to reschedule or say that they were too busy. Not sure how they think they can just turn away customers. 2 stars because they were friendly when I met them at the home show.Edit: and no sorry it wasnt some other business. You guys had written the time on the back of your business card and I had specifically gone to your booth to speak with you guys and get an in person quote with the intention of making a purchase.

Thank you for a wonderful experience. From meeting your rep at the home show, to the service man who installed the door, to you, every time we spoke on the phone, it was a first class experience. When we went away, earlier in the month, we were very confident knowing that we had the security door in place. Th other night, my husband was out and someone knocked at my door. Im always a little hesitant to open my front door when I dont recognize the person. That night was no exception, except I realize that we had the door, and it was locked, so I opened it without hesitation. It was a very good feeling knowing that I had that extra layer of protection.

When we receive the Home Mag we check out all the vendors in it. When we attended the Home Show in Fall of 2015 we got to check out those vendors and their products in person. For us, Southwest Ironworks had the best looking designs and materials. After we purchased our house we ordered a custom (Frank Lloyd Wright style)design security door from SW Ironworks. When they called to schedule an appointment for an estimate, the lady we spoke to very politely asked us if we understood the pricing for the custom door, which would be over $1,000 and we said yes. (Cheaper looking doors in Home Depot run about $1,000.) When the door was ready they sent us a photo of the product. The photo was dark and so the finish looked too dark, and they patiently and politely addressed all my concerns about the color. :) The install was smooth, the handmade product was beautiful and sturdy, the door was installed level and perfectly and we are very happy with it.Tomorrow SW Ironworks is coming out to measure and give an estimate on a side yard garden gate for us. I know it will not be cheap, but again, I budgeted for something beautiful to replace the generic contractor gate with wood slats. You can of course buy things at a cheaper price, of a cheaper quality if that is what you need to do. For an item like this, we budgeted and chose to support the local economy and local craftspeople for a handmade piece. After reading Mr. Prestons review I must say something. While he is certainly entitled to his opinion, some of what he is saying is misleading. In no way did SW Ironworks gouge anyone. The estimate is free. Anyone who is savvy will get multiple quotes. If you are really savvy or concerned with the craftsmanship, or even aware of what makes a quality product, you will go see a companys work, touch it and assure what you want for the price. Then, if you do not like the highest quote, by all means go with the lower one! In regards to the words the employee was saying as the customer expressed his anger, those words in themselves are not in anyway condescending, they are standard in customer service. If indeed the person said them dripping with sarcasm, then there was a problem. But quite often when one does not get their way or is upset, nothing a person can say to them will make them happy. Perhaps someone was hoping for a reduction in price, a haggle. But why? Go with the lower quote then. Thank you.

*Updated Review* Its obvious Tohoku Girl is associated with this company. Southwest Iron Works, if youre going to fabricate your own reviews at least dont make it so obvious. Clearly this company doesnt know how to handle complaints, notice each positive review received a response, but they ignore and instead create a fictitious account to respond to a complaint. The employees I spoke to were nothing but sarcastic and condescending, I gain nothing by making that up. They were upset that I questioned their clear overpricing tactics. Im not surprised of how they my handle themselves based from the owners recent review. Sad.My review was a legitimate one. $4000 for a simple gate design is outrageous. I was not being cheap, I just did not appreciate being taken advantage of. Fortunately I saved my quote and I will now add it to my review for all to see who is being unreasonable. I will attach an email that received no response and the quote for the gate.*Original Post* Terrible ethics and customer service. I contacted this company after seeing an advertisement for gates starting at $850, requesting a quote for a small 6.5x6 foot gate to be placed at the entrance of our home, something simple. They came out on Monday 2/15/16 at 10am, the gentlemen proceeded with the measurement and took some pictures, I explained to him what we were looking for, which was a simple gate with one door and a basic scroll design, no screen or any fancy accessories. I was told I would hear something back within 24 to 48 hours, that time-frame came and gone, on Friday 2/19/16 I called in the morning to inquire on my quote, I was told by a lady that she would look into it and I would receive and answer by end of business day, I got no return call. On Tuesday 2/23/16 I called AGAIN inquiring on the quote, I was told they would speak with the gentlemen that did the measurement as they needed to collect some information from him and I would receive an emailed quote within a couple hours.Well, I received my quote and was shocked by the quoted price, they wanted $3,995 for a simple scroll design front gate, No arch, no screen; j-bolt hinges, simple gravity latch! Confused on how they got to a figure so high, I emailed back asking for an explanation, after not receiving one I called to speak with Deann, who was almost offended that I would ask why the price was so high, she could not have been more disengaged with my concern. She said she would have the guy who did the measurement call me back.I received a call from the guy and this was the icing on the cake. Can you say CONDESCENDING! How in the world can a company stay in business with such poor customer service?! This is a gist of how the conversations went, me asking the guy if there was a misunderstanding of how I was describing what we were looking for and advising him that we had 2 quotes prior to his and they were almost 3 times more than the other quotes. The only thing he could say is it sounds like your pretty disappointed, Im sure that can be upsetting, oh wow, Im sorry you feel that way, maybe you should go with the lower quotes, is there anything else you need to say... This was all in the most condescending disgraceful tone you can imagine. I eventually hung up realizing that he was taking this all as a joke and had no desire on addressing my concerns. If I did not receive 2 other quotes for the exact same product I probably would have just let it go thinking, wow gates are expensive, but knowing they were gouging I had to question the basis of their quote. I was not expecting them to try to defend the outrageous quote, I was hoping it was an error, but to defend it in a condescending and demeaning way is disgraceful for any company. Please be careful when choosing this company. Unless everything goes the way they expect it too, you will be in a world of trouble.
