This review is for the overall experience. My wife was able to get a quick appt and had no issues with optometrists who were diligent and kind. The issues was with the customer service and male staff working at reception . Up to an hour wait times just to receive prescription. Staff grumbled answers while walking across the store unapologetically. This unfortunately this reflects really poorly on vision works as a company although these franchises are all individually owned (apparently). While I had better (but not great) experiences in another NJ location, I will not be returning to this one.

I had an outstanding experience. Very competent and professional staff. Nas, who assisted me, was knowledgeable, patient and responsive to my questions, exceptionally friendly and professional. Wide selection of frames and service options are available, and at reasonable prices. I will return.

Will definitely be charging my eye doctor. Not a good place when it comes to customer service.

Horrible service. I have been going for years and customer service has declined. Staff is rude and not heppful at all. The male optometrist is dissmissive. They wouldnt give me my prescription. Never going back.

Two different occasions. First my mother had a medical emergency and they couldn’t squeeze her in. Very nasty customer service. Lady confirming insurance was so rude!!!!! Definitely not taking my family there anymore. Medical reason telling me I would have to pay out of pocket for my daughter.

Doctor Gor Shigol was terrible. After explaining issues with contact lenses he brought out the glass to correct them to find new prescription which made my vision better. He said the lenses I had were good enough and had me order contacts that were not satisfactory. He was dismissive of concerns, and seemed to be under the influence of some sort. Automated assistant when you call also does not understand anything you tell it. If it were not for the friendly staff I would push for a 0 star. I will not ever return to this establishment. This place fell apart when Dr. Glazer retired.

They schedule appointments for your next yearly exam at the time of your current yearly exam, which is fine. When I didn’t receive a confirmation call I called them. Apparently the system wiped out the appointments because of COVID. You know you schedule patients a year out so this should not have been an issue. I can’t be the only one affected.They did try to “squeeze” me in, but wait times are long enough when you have an appointment. I can only imagine how long I would have to wait if I’m “squeezed” in.

Great staff, fantastic experience!! Eye dr and staff are absolutely lovely, had a great experience getting my first pair of reading glasses turning 40 years old!!

They dont pick up the phone. You have to everything off their website. Made an appointment for my daughter, they called to cancel. Waited outside for 10 mins in the hot sun before someone acknowledged us only to tell us her appointment time that they gave her everyone is out to lunch and now she has to wait.

The people that work there were very nice to me and helped me a lot when I was picking out glasses. However, no one answers the phone at any location. No one has called me to tell me my glasses have arrived more than 3 weeks later. I’ve been calling every day and after 2 mins on hold it sends you to the “Visionworks Customer Care Center.” Are the phones broken? Disconnected? I work retail too and I understand not answering because it’s busy.... but EVERY DAY at different times just ignoring calls? Mickey Mouse operation indeed as another reviewer stated

I went for just eye exam. Someone there also filed for authorization for glasses with my insurance without my knowledge or permission, though I told them I just wanted an exam and left the place with a paper Rx after my exam. I did not know they had done this until I went to another place to make my glasses. I had to go through the hassle to call insurance to release the auth. for no reason. This is wrong and should not have happened.

This place is awful they have no respect for the Customers and they broken my glasses and said I’m sorry like it was nothing. I wouldn’t give them not even one star.

Levon was awesome, he took the time to discuss all of my options and was completely patient during the entire process. I truly have never purchased glasses and have been happy, I was always upset that nobody took the time to explain and just was a waste of money! Now I can say that Levon has changed my outlook on getting glasses and I can’t wait to purchase another pair!!!! Vision works should be thrilled that he is an amazing worker and takes care of his customers!

Went in March to get an eye exam and get fitted for contacts. I understand due to covid I wasn’t able to do the class. They gave me an appointment in June but I had to call to confirm and they told me it was a mistake I still won’t be able to take the class for the contacts. I am just very upset now I have been trying to call them for days and no answer to set up an appointment since they said in July it should be good to set up an appointment. I have been waiting for my contacts that I have paid for since March. I don’t understand what’s going on even the customer service won’t answer and on hold for a very long time. I am very disappointed!

The selections of the frames for 2/$49 was very limited and could have been displayed much better. But the Eye Doctor was very knowledgeable and had a great bedside manner. The rest of the staff was equally friendly and helpful. Levon was really a standout though. Just an awesome guy all the way around and you could tell he really appreciated his job. Rare to find workers like that these days. Whoever the owner is for this location should take a minute to tell their employees how much they are appreciated!

Don’t bother coming here, had to have my glasses changed 3 times and they still didn’t get it right and not to mention they have the worst selection ever and the associates are very sarcastic

This place was great! I was greeted by the most fabulous woman named Nicole. She was over the top helpful. She went above and beyond!!! I can’t say enough wonderful things about her. All of the other staff was great including the Dr! I was in and out in no time. I would highly recommend this place!!

I had a bad experience here a couple of months ago the staff is so unprofessional, my daughter & grandson went last week & the staff was even worse. I’ve been a customer for years & this place is on a decline. Customer service is the worse. However the only good experience was woman who examined my eyes & my daughter said so as well.

Nicole is literally the best! She helped me order my contacts at the best rate, and took her time helping me get the best deal. If she had 8 arms I think she could run the entire place!

This place product sucks I been having trouble with my glasses from the day I got them the tint for sun doesnt work cant see at night even with the anti glare had to go with back up glasses and had problem with the lens keep coming out now my daughter glass broke and Im told I need a appointment. My daughter needs her glass now not a week or days from now never going back.

The staff is very kind and considerate. They make sure to pay attention to everything you say and they listen to you and your suggestions or questions. Overall, a very nice place and Levon was so helpful and had a lot of suggestions to help find what would work for me. Definitely going back there for glasses.

I recently went to Visionworks in Totowa for an eye exam and a new pair of glasses. The selection of glasses is extensive, new and they offer a price point for everyone.I made an appointment first thing in the morning and filled out the paperwork online beforehand in an attempt to streamline the process in-store. As it turned out, my attempts were in vain. I ended up waiting a full hour AFTER my appointment was scheduled before seeing an actual doctor. It seemed like they scheduled 4-6 appointments for the same time frame while there were only two doctors available. The waiting area was packed.The doctor I saw was kind and efficient. Once I selected my glasses, I sat with Levon who was transparent about insurance coverage and what my out of pocket costs would be. He was also incredibly personable and even helped me pick out a pair of glasses. The employees at Visionworks were all wonderful, but they just need to work out their scheduling system.

I had Nicole’s help with picking glasses, and buying them with contacts as well. She made the experience fun and was very helpful! She also helped me when I picked up my glasses to fit them and she was welcoming and warm!

Nicole was amazing with my son, hes a big guy and she took all the time he needed on order to find the best pair of frames that fit his face. Besides the fact she isnt even a salesperson, but the General manager! The staff was great! Was told 14 days for glasses to come in, it was only 8 days including the weekend! Horribly rude staff when on the phone (got hung up on, called back and spoke to a different girl but heard the guy in the back telling her not to deal with me, then got abruptly hung up on again) run down and dirty store as well as a creepy male associate who was clearly making me uncomfortable but nobody seemed to notice or care, save yourself and go somewhere else!

Such a great place with tons of glasses and awesome customer service. Levon made this trip the best ever! Will definitely come back yearly.

If I could give them 0 stars I would! Some of the employees need to better their people skills as this is a place where they must interact one-on-one with customers. When I went with my husband over a week ago for his exam, the employee wasn’t helpful. I asked her if the price she was giving us was with insurance and she kept saying “yes, through his job”. However, I kept telling her that his job gives a savings pass, not insurance. She said she couldn’t locate his insurance so I had to look up his plan through my phone and tell her something on her end is wrong as I can see his benefits which he pays privately; she asked me if I wanted her to call the insurance to verify if he has coverage . Then she tried to give me inaccurate allowances. I came to pick up his glasses today and the girl with blonde hair had a disgusting attitude; shaking her head the entire time she was adjusting the glasses along with stating “well it’s not for you”. I understand that my husband should be there to have the glasses adjusted to his liking but he wanted the glasses adjusted to my fit and it wouldn’t have killed her to kindly state that they normally don’t adjust the glasses without him being present but that she’ll do her best and if anything they can readjust it if he returns. At this point, I’m better off going back to LensCrafters where they have better customer service even though the prices are a bit higher; great customer service is priceless.

Definitely the best spot to go to. I was speechless at how respectful everyone was and I was greeted by a young man named Nas. Who was very helpful and kind. He along with his co workers helped me find the right pair of glasses and he kept me laughing the whole time. His sense of humor is definitely the best out there and he was very outspoken. BEST SPOT TO GO TO!

Two years ago I used another Visionworks location and felt as if the employees were annoyed by my presence....definitely not the case here!! Went to get my eye checked after a couple of years and loved the service i received. Nicole and Levon were highly spirited and kept the environment filled with joy. Rasheda screened me efficiently and was able to communicate any questions i had about the screening and instruments. Felt welcomed and would recommend.

The Totowa location is nice. But there staff is all over the place. Seem like they don’t really want to listen to your concerns.If you have children that are under the age of 18 they just walk up to your child and start telling them about what there insurance covers. I found that very unsettling as a mother of 3 and then you have 2 different doctors to see 1 adult and 2 children. I’m sorry I just don’t leave my child alone in any place Don’t think I will ever use them at all again.This is my first experience with them and I will never use them again.

My mother, brother, and I all had appointments at the same time at this location. For my brother and I, it was our first eye exam after a long time, so we were pretty new to the process. Everyone was friendly in general, but Levon exceeded our expectations. He was very friendly, funny, and made sure that we were looked after. He checked up on us every now and then since the wait was a bit long, but we barely noticed because he never let us feel neglected. Thanks to Levon our visit wasn’t just a boring doctor’s appointment.

I have been bringing my family here for years. Visionworks offers so many styles to pick from and the prices are just right when your a family of 5 on a budget. I walked in to the store and met a very respectful young man named Nas. He was very helpful and kind and he was adamant about picking the right pair of glasses for me. Not happy at all. Was told that if I came after a certain date my benefits would approve and I wouldn’t have to pay out of pocket. Then I come for appt. and they have to wait 30 mins to call my insurance to find out they don’t cover and are now showing out of network.On top of that, I agree to pay cash because my daughter really needs this, they forgot to send my chart in the back. So I’m sitting in the back over an hour waiting to be seen by a physician that doesn’t even have the chart. I APPROACHED the staff like why aren’t we been seen yet? They say oh I don’t know. And sneakily send someone in the back with the chart. Not even admitting or acknowledging their fault.Asked for office manager and she has yet to approach us. Been here a total time of 1.5 hours on school day for my daughter and still not seen. Very very angry and frustrated. And they don’t care at all. Worst place lately. Has really gone down the dumps in recent years. Wonder what time we will get out of here?! I’m so Angry and frustrated!

Have been going to Vision works for a while now, overall a great office. However, whenever I call to order contacts the person on the phone is always rushing or rude, I understand being busy but being rude should never be the answer. I never usually complain about places but this happens every time I call to order!

I had an appointment however I had to cancel due to work conflicts and when a rep called to confirm my appointment, I told her I would like to reschedule and she said someone will call me back to reschedule. Not only did I not get a phone call to reschedule, I have been contacting them for the last 3 days trying to get an appointment and I cannot seem to get in touch with anyone!! Nor can I find any available appointments on Visionworks.com. Seems like the customer service has declined.

Optometrists are great. Front of house staff are confused, disorganized and befuddled by simple insurance questions (e.g is this covered by insurance?) After waiting nearly two hours after my appointment time, I was told the back up was due to the doctors taking lunch. Heres a thought: Youre 100% in charge of scheduling appointments. Dont offer them when the doctors arent available.

Terrible customer service, went and got a new prescription over a month ago now and still have not received my glasses. Was told that my prescription was ready to pick up and when i got there they said they couldn’t find them. Whe i was there originally the girl at the front desk had an attitude problem when i asked her simple questions about my benefits and tried to make me spend more money than i should and made me feel as if i didnt have enough money to afford glasses. When called to look for my prescription again they put me on hold for 6 minutes and then told me they would call me back, to never getting a call back. Would not recommend going there unless you want medicore service.

Came in for new glasses and I even got my current ones fixed! Levon was very helpful in every decision I made and also very informative! Staff was great as well!

Overall...my experience at Visionworks (Totowa, NJ) was wonderful from the time I walked in the door until I walked out of the door. It was even better when I went to pick up my glasses (both times). I am recommending this place everyone!!!!

Dr. Glazer is wonderful. Very funny. I have had problems finding an eye dr. that I liked as much as the one I had gone to for years. Found one!Levon is incredible. It was super busy the night I was there, but he still took the time to make sure that I got the best price for what I wanted. Oh and they price match contacts so if you find somewhere cheaper you just have to show them the ad. You get to join their contacts club which can help you save on glasses.Just a word of warning if you are a new customer with contacts...they will make you come back to check to make sure your contacts are working for you even if you had been wearing them for years. Luckily I was planning on switching my contacts so it wasn’t a complete waste of time. However, if I wasn’t, I would have had to schedule multiple appointments for them to make sure that the contacts I had been wearing for 20 years were good for me.

11/21/18 - Convenient location, right off of Route 46 westbound, Big Selection for men and women, open Mon-Sat which is convenient. So far only one (LEVON) has exceptional customer service and one very condescending AJ McLean look-a-like. Besides the promotional sales, not likely to comeback as they are not inviting or looking to establish repeat customers. Pretty much corporate vibe, Sell Sell. Have your exam and look at glasses, all to then tell you insurance won’t cover it but to use their promotional sale.Added Entry 11/28/18:My daughters second visit to this facility was notably more pleasant. After viewing my negative review, LEVON, very kindly and professionally reached out to rectify the situation. With his kind words and caring approach he made it easier to walk back into the facility as he was THE ONLY REASON she went back. We also have to thank Radames for patiently explaining and answering every question my daughter had. I sincerely hope the rest of the staff takes notes from these two exemplary professionals to give this establishment the positive energy it deserves.

I dont know where all these good reviews are from, every time i’m in this place i have to wait 15-20 minutes even though im the ONLY customer in the store. All the employees go in the back doing god knows what and 1 is left up front having to take care of customers and answer phone calls.The multiple times ive been here they never tell you whats going on just sit for 20 minutes while they all screw around. This place needs an employee overhaul BAD ive never seen such terrible service in my life. DO NOT COME HERE
